Went with Awesome, which is rare for me but this was such a brilliant episode. Very emotional, and left on one hell of a cliffhanger - on the edge of an actual blooming cliff for crying out loud!! Gonna be a long 10 months :(
*holds* It was really gut wrenching to get through parts of it wasn't it. It's ridiculous how attached I've become to these characters over the eight weeks!
I have been surprised that I've enjoyed the series as much as I have. I went into it as an Aidan Turner fan without many expectations at all, but have become hooked!
I think that was the best episode of the series. It was so emotional and heartbreaking, and Demelza's song played at the end seemed so fitting. Again, it will be stuck in my head for days. I've started watching the series because of Aidan Turner but it was Eleanor Tomlinson's portrayal of Demelza that got me addicted to the show. I did not expect I would enjoy Poldark as much as I did. It quickly became the show I looked most forward to. I guess the only thing left to do now for me, to survive the long hiatus, is to read all the books. Thank you Sandi for all your comments and previews.
You're welcome Jess. Like yourself I started watching for Aidan and have become spellbound by Eleanor's performance as Demelza, she is just superb in the role. My heart almost broke in two when her character came round and was asking where Julia was in this episode, so incredibly moving :(
That was heavy stuff, but Aidan's smirk while he watched the pillage of his enemy's ship was quite a tonic. Was disappointed by the contrivance of Elizabeth showing up fresh from her case of diphtheria to "nurse" Demelza. Aside from that one weird & implausible scene this was a terrific finale cliffhanger.
I love this show! For me, it beats Musketeers, Outlander, Game of Thrones and Turn -- all of which I have really enjoyed. Hopefully, UK filmmakers will discover Sharon K Penman and Bernard Cornwall, and bring us dramatic adaptations of their books as well.
It looks like I have 8 new books to read this summer...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
How long must we wait for the second season?

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what an emotional end to this series.., :(
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reading any spoilers for Poldark, so all the drama in this final came as a total surprise.
Great show, great cast, looking forward to the next series very much.
I would guess around 10 months
ReplyDeleteCannot take too many episodes like that. That was one of a emotional ride .
