    This was awesomeeeee episode, very tense, dark and man, I'm glad Samaritan storyline is back to his full potential. Root Vs Martine round 2 was hand to hand, cool.


    Zoe concerned about Reese relationship, good, but I think she said right, this will not end well (I hope she is wrong).

    We forget that Samaritan order to Greer find the machine in the beginning of the season, now he finally come close even more. The season finale is gonna be so good.

    Top notch hour. Loved it from start to finish.


    Watching Samaritan's work was thrilling, yet deeply ominous. It's looking increasingly likely that the showdown for the season finale will center around Samaritan locating The Machine, with the cliffhanger possibly being whether Samaritan destroys it. We've always known of its intentions but this episode was the first in which we see how truly serious Samaritan - and by relation, Decima - are with their objective.


    It was great to see Zoe back too, but she was disappointingly underused as the storyline didn't leave any room for her. If I were the writers, I would have left her out completely.


    And as per usual, lots of great one liners and moments of humor.


    Carter is back next week! The promo looks epic, and no doubt the episode will be epic as well.

    awesome episode.
    i think samaritan vs the machine might coincide with elias vs dominic.
    it would be better to do this as a seperate ep.

    kick ass episode, when Samaritan is acting out as the invisible, emotionless force that it is, its terrifying and creepy. the way it systematically attacks and try's to derail them while protecting khan is intense. Root vs Martine... nothing more. root was beating that ass until john had to force her off because the were becoming out numbered and had to escape. major plot advancement and the ending, awesome.

    This did not feel like a regular episode of PoI. It felt much lighter than normal even when the stakes were very high. So many one-liners tonight that I laughed at.

    The PoI was great. Superb acting for only a one episode character. The return of Zoe was good although her appearance felt incomplete. Another scene showing the fallout of Khan's arrest and her attempt at fixing it would have been nice but she did raise that important point to John about how this relationship will end. More and more I feel that the Machine put Iris there to help John get past Jessica. The real war may be between 2 AI's but an internal war with yourself is just as dangerous when you're trying to save the world.

    I also liked Martine when she was a blonde. I wonder if she changed to being a brunette just to confuse the team a little. Still that Root-Martine fight scene was awesome. It beats Root wielding dual handguns any day. :)

    Another tie-in to Caleb. Now I'm even more curious what is in store with his compression algorithm software.

    All in all, one of the best episodes this season.

    I have to call BS on this POI getting killed. How many white characters have they saved and some POC but this POI escapes and gets captured by Samaritan's people. And they didn't seem to care.

    seriously this is something you are complaining ? when he disappears, more Samaritan agents start to pour in and they had to leave or they would be out gunned and killed ( hence why root wasn't able to finish off martine ). and simon from prophets it th only other number that Samaritan has targeted this season. claire wasn't really targeted for elimination by Samaritan but recruitment so she doesn't count. plus that ending scene with greer shooting khan was awesome.

    I definitely don't think Iris is the second coming of Jessica. What Iris represents to John is that he's at one of his lowest points of his life. He has been tortured, threatened and worst of all his friends have died since his relationship with Jessica ended. The John of today would not be able to sustain a relationship with Jessica. He is too far damaged and gone.


    The way that John spoke to Finch this episode is reminiscent of where his mindset is now. As much as he tries to save people, his hero complex is only a cover up for his negative thinking.


    Iris does not have to completely turn John around 180 but she has to stop him from thinking negatively. If she can do that then Team Machine has a better chance of survival in their war with Samaritan.


    Of the two, I think Harold will perish before John. I have this feeling that John will survive in the end despite the huge foreshadowing this episode.

    Incredibly awesome episode. I loved basically everything.
    I wonder what they're planning with Reese, though. Finch needs to learn to protect himself because out in the field he's basically a liability. Can't help but also needs to be protected, leaving someone vulnerable. Maybe Finch should re-evaluate his position.

    Zoe was used very little. They pushed her from last episode to this one and then she had like what - two scenes? Was a little odd.

    Also, they connected lots of dots. The Flash Crash was not only a trap and proving a point but also important setup to find the Machine. Love how Samaritan makes a lot more sense now. I like that!

    Martine/Root fight. Don't have to say anything else, it was great!

    Now the next episode's promo has me worrying a lot. If it's just about what the promo says, I'm worried. Can't have them kill the momentum again. Hope they're hiding a lot of stuff and development.

    I might be not clear: I don't think that Iris a second Jessica to John (in the meaning), only that she is very much the same personality, what Jessica was. But John isn't the same what he was then, that's why I said that I can't see that this relationship could work now, so I think we are on the same page with this.

    I disagree with that assessment. Iris is a weak-willed person who is willing to emotionally manipulate a patient into having a relationship. She was only half right in sending John to another therapist but could not close the other half when she kissed John. Through what little we have seen of Jessica, she was a person who was forcibly weak-willed at the expense of her husband. I do not see any similarities between the two in personality at all. Jessica and John back then were much stronger in personality than the John of today with Iris.

    so that underground station was important enoughh to build it in the middle of nowhere and underground, but not important enough to guard it with something more than silly doors...no guards, just two cameras, no locks...and that scene in the restaurant with the gass...so over the top...

    Fantastic episode. So, Samaritan's search for the Machine is nearing completion. And Greer at the very end said that the location of the Machine is not on any network devices in the world. What could it mean? Is the Machine operating purely through satellites? Cloud? What?

    Quick Ques: What could have been inside that 'Easter egg' that Root broke against the wall? There was something inside, right? Or what could be the point of breaking it? Or was it just a valuable trinket/bauble? Edit: Just watched that scene again. Before Root breaks it, she asks the Machine "You sure? Seems like a waste". This leads me to think that the contents of that case were not needed at all and the case itself is important. Root left that black case at the subway base. And it's Kevlar coated. Something tells me that it will save Harold's life at some point.

    Zoe's appearance was too short. But I will take it. One thing though irritated me slightly. Zoe is way too cynical (or realistic) when she continues to assert that Reese's relationship with Iris is doomed. I get that Reese is on a different and dark path in life but what I appreciate about his character is that he has not given up completely on happiness. He wants change in his life. He wants some new habits - the therapy sessions with Iris showed us that. Just because he leads a dark life doesn't mean that he should resign himself to a life of negativity and pessimism. His relationship with Iris provides him with a bit of positivity that he needs in his life.

    Ending of the episode - best part of the episode. It was tragic and very dark. Greer is a monster. When he casually lit up that celebratory cigar, it looked like even Martine was a bit unsettled. First, he satisfied Khan's curiosity and then killed him. Getting to see Samaritan change Khan's status from 'threat' to 'eliminated' from Khan's POV as he lay dying was simply brilliant. The icing on the cake was the final shot of Khan's eyes as they reflected the red Samaritan interface.

    I'm sick of the whole "character speak to eachother in front of other people and no one realizes it". If you're loud enough for the mike to pick it up, you're loud enough for the people near you to listen to it as well.

    Zoe is right. John's past relationships have not worked out for him. Even she does not want to be around the spiraling mess that is him.


    We have different takes on John but I feel John is not really romantically attracted to Iris. Yes, he likes seeing her but only in a therapeutic type of way. He wants change but not in his relationship status. From the start when John was reluctant to open up to the last session seems like the width of a football field. He feels like he is a better person when he is around Iris. The only way to subvert pessimism is to change your way of thinking which Iris is slowly doing.


    That ending was crazy. Agreed on every point you said.
