  1. This episode involved a lot of elements that I remember from the book so I spent a little too much time looking for the bits I remembered. So I watched it a second time before commenting. The scene between Jamie and Claire near the end is what I've been missing, with regard to their relationship, much of the season. I loved that scene. Also really loved the scene between Jenny and Jamie in the graveyard. The one thing that bummed me about the episode (that I expected to find frustrating) was that we didn't get any daily life scenes. When Claire says, in that scene near the end of the episode that she's beginning to feel like she belongs my first thought was 'why?' she hasn't done anything to become part of the daily operations. Hopefully, we'll get some of those scenes during the next episode.

This is the first time my brain hit up a wall with the casting. The actor playing Ian is more....well, he looks older than Jamie and I always think of Ian as still having kind of a boyishness to his personality. This guy is just a grown up.

Sill I happily give this ep an Awesome.

  2. This episode was awesome! It was a much needed step back from last week and a turning point to what is to come. As always it was impeccably executed and filmed!

  3. I wished they had shown Jamie & Claire's admission of their love for each other. They had both married for their own reasons, but Jamie didn't want to admit his love for Claire because he knew she only did it to save her life. She even considered returning to Frank all the way to the end of the last episode! Her staying wasn't actually a declaration; and his happiness that she stayed wasn't either.

To me, it was a true turning point in their relationship. Too bad it was just an aside in last night's episode.

  4. I agree with you, I also pictured Ian a bit less mature in every way. Also, is my memory failing me or he had dark hair? (it might be failing, I read the first one quite a few years ago)

  5. Well the character's physical appearance described in the book has been a little bit different in the show, like Jenny's eyes, they were supposed to be blue like Jamie's, but I guess that being such a good actress they prefer to have her letting aside those minimal details and focus and the actors' performance.

  6. You're right. Ian had black hair. I was willing to let that go.
