I'm just going to ignore like two scenes and three lines and we're good to go (the Ward/Kara of it because while I'm thrilled she's recovered, I'm pissed all these developments happened off screen and just ugh).
"Fitz IS OUR ONLY BACK-UP. YOUR CALL, BOSS?" is what killed me, along with Coulson's line to Bobbi.
Oh God, the semi-Skyeward reunion! I'm dead again.
Intense episode if AOS. Coulson, Mike, Fitz, Hunter, Ward and Agent 33 work well together. They're all kick ass. Skyes life is pretty chaotic. I really hope may has a plan B cause I don't want her staying with this "Real Shield"
For some reason my DVR wasn't working right and it started to record right at that scene. I forgive it because at least I got to see that. I wanted that to happen for the last year.
I was so wary about tonight's episode that I couldn't stop thinking about it all day but after seeing it I gotta say, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It had tons of action which is a plus.
I was so cautious about the Coulson/Grant alliance going into the episode that I was keeping my eye on every little word that came out of his mouth and every movement haha. And I'm sorry Coulson. Putting Grant through the TAHITI program in exchange for his help? To wipe out all of his terrible memories? Sorry but once a cold blooded murderer always a cold blooded murderer in my eyes. I do not like this one bit.
Cal may be one crazy son of a bitch, but he really broke my heart tonight. Just hearing him reminiscing about the past and what could have been made me tear up and when he realized that Jiaying sent Lincoln to spy on them because she doesn't trust him with Skye made me really feel bad for the guy. Kyle MacLachlan continues to kill it in this role. And his name was Cal Johnson! Ahh, Daisy Johnson. Sounds very fitting ;)
Simmons and May's reaction to Coulson aligning with Grant was exactly my reaction when I found out in the press release XD "Blood hell" is right, Jemma. And I cheered so much when Fitz was about give all hell to Grant on the plane. He's still holding a big grudge against him for all the pain he caused him and I just love him for that. My hero. And Skye was THISCLOSE to getting back to Coulson! Dammit Gordon. Not yet!! Also, that fight scene between Lincoln and Mike was badass. We finally got to see Lincoln's power in action! Looks like Coulson and the team are about to find out a lot about these Inhumans ;) But first, he has to give himself up to team up with Gonzales!
I think the rest of season 2 ties into AoU but the season is not over until May 12 which is kind of a bummer since my friend already bought me tickets for opening night. Maybe I'll just go see it again after the finale has aired.
Yeh, I felt the same after the press release, but at least Ward and Coulson want nothing to do with each other after this is over. Hopefully, the writers remember that.
Pretty good episode. Not here for Ward redemption. I hope that's not where they're going with the Tahiti thing. He's a million times more interesting (and attractive) as a bad guy and I kinda like him with Kara. Loved that whole scene on the jet when Fitz went after him and the mexican standoff. Cal is definitely Crazy but I felt bad for him. Excited for next week!
- I want Grant to be an antihero for Coulson and for them to be allies but not for a looong while (like next season or so). But certainly not have him back on the team in the next episode!! It's too soon and I feel like the bridge has burned IMO. Please don't screw this up writers. Please.
- Well, Grant (and everyone) killing the HYDRA agents was needed so that they wouldn't get to them and kill them so I understand why he did that. Also, it was great that he finally acknowledged that he was with HYDRA after certain people were constantly pleading that he wasn't sooo.
I wouldn't stop watching (it's my favorite show ever) but I would lose a ton of respect for the writers in every way and it would take a lot for them to gain it back.
Basically Bobbi and Mack were walking around the building where all the action was and walked into a room and found Coulson sitting down, ready to give himself up and take him back to OlmostSHIELD to meet with Gonzales at the Playground.
What was that they did to Mike and the inhuman guy?. They really should've let Fitz at least slap Ward. And crap, Cal is gonna destroy the hiding place.
I hate Agents of SHIELD so much...ONLY because they make me wait a whole freakin' week till the next episode (although, tonight's episode rocked as usual). Just hearing about the Daredevil season 2 renewal confirmation makes life good again, though but so sad it won't be back for a whole year. Marvel television is such a tease and so unfair :)
Well pretty soon it seems like there will always be something Marvel related to watch on TV especially if ABC picks up Agent Carter for s2 and goes with the AoS spin-off and the John Ridley Marvel project.
Oh yea that was so much fun. I can't believe I'm back on Simmons side, for being mad at May. And finally we got Ward back. A bit disappointed Coulson and team were hostile till the end, but that was expected, but I like where the end might lead them to working together some more.
I was happy Skye wanted to go with Cal to ease him off before saying good bye, but then she messed it up by calling stupid May. To me her distrust of Coulson is worse then Ward's. But anyway I'm glad Skye cares enough to not want Cal to be hurt wants to help him move on. I hope that bit still continues. Wouldn't it be a wonder if they work together to maybe get Lincoln and Mike back.
Him killing the Hydra agents was all warranted. Didn't SHIELD left over post Capt.America2 do the same, as shown in the movie the show before and a couple of episode ago on the boat. This is a Adult world, they are part 2 sides 2 organization, what your gonna stun everyone so they stop and come after you again. Killing Aliens and robots is ok but humans is not when they are on the opposite side.
And I know you agree on this on this ep, but I agree on all episodes.
The John Ridley mystery Marvel series is rumored to be Ms. Marvel or Black Panther for ABC Gifted director, Ridley has a great visual style that should fit well in the Marvel universe whatever series he develops.
Black Panther seems highly unlikely as there is a movie coming out soon. If the Ms Marvel series is about an Israeli girl like the comic it could be really interesting. Especially as a limited series.
You said the same phrase with the daredevil ship. I ship xxx like burning. That is a unique way to describe something. I assume it means along the lines of ship the nth degree or similar?
Klutzy_girl, You said the same phrase with the daredevil ship. I ship xxx like burning. That is a unique way to describe something. I assume it means along the lines of ship the nth degree or similar?
I'm hoping it does not end up that bad. If they still hate him when this all over and, I'd be ok with it. But the fact that they included that last line from Ward is troublesome.
After tonight I think they've nailed their colours to the mast and I hate it. This was Ward return all over it and I swear killed my interest in the show in one show. How many ways could they make Ward "THE ONLY IMPORTANT GUY".
A small comfort is seeing the Ward fans deal with the evidence that he failed in brainwashing.
Why? They are clearly going to have Ward back on the team no matter waht at this stage( with Bobbi and hunter gone),so for Ward no harm no foul (except the brain damage, death, fridge release etc...). What's the point in any of the arcs?
Yeah a lot of people are dumping the show after this episode but I'm still holding out hope that the writers know what they're doing. They can't be that stupid, they really can't.
Can't they? I don't hate the Ward character, I enjoyed his "third way" look. I would have loved it if he was a floating X that could play both sides against the other. But instead we get this, Fitz tries to hit hit him, and that's the depth of his return to Shield.
I'm afraid after tonight, I don't discount the stupidity of the writers.
The Coulson and Skye reunion I wanted was so close. Hopefully next week. I'm not interested in Ward or a redemption storyline for him. I did love Fitz's reaction to him though. May kind of irritated me. The Cal and Skye scenes were the best part of the episode. Seeing Lincoln use his powers was good too. I guess Ward and Kara aren't that good at brainwashing.
It lagged a bit at some points. Another problem I'm having with how this is all playing out is that I feel most of what's going on now is just contrived misunderstandings and bad timing. But whatever... if one can look past some of the convenient plot holes and ploys, it was a fun episode.
that scene with simmons and may and how may was defending coulson, Fitz, and how coulson was only lieing to protect skye and she did not care what was in the box gotta love that
they wouldn't believe him anyway but Ward was NEVER Hydra, he made that VERY clear, he didn't even say their saying? mantra? well what Hydra always says LOL he never said it
What the hell just happened? It was all over the place (in a good, and exciting way). I couldn't tell what was going to happen for at least the last third.
No, he means that Ward's neither wholly good or pure evil, he's an extremely flawed person who, deep down, DOES care - see his interactions with Kara this episode - but has an incredible self-destructive tendency of constantly making easier choices than right ones, which often leads to him hurting people, especially his loved ones. And thank god, this show would be pretty boring if everyone could be divided into good or evil with no grey in between.
Didn't enjoy this episode as much as the previous ones but had good moments. I will wait to see where the writers will take the whole Ward back with the team thing. There are a few possibilities and some are good and some are terrible. Until i see the whole development i will reserve my judment but i liked how Coulson kept the Skye card hiden from Ward. Ward can say he took na hint and moved on from Skye obsession all he wants but it's crystal clear how he still kind of obsessed and will drop everything when people mentions her. Her name was dropped and he imediately change his approach with Coulson despite his new gilfriend being right there on his side reminding him how much Skye was/is not into him. I just feel bad for Kara character. She has been though a lot and we can see she will be screwed over in the end. She deserved better. Fitz is the best. Loved his reaction to Ward and i can't wait to see him confronting him on the next episode. It's supposed to be an amazing scene. It's good to see Simmons finally going back to her normal self. I like the scenes between Skye and her dad. He is going to be hell pissed about inhumans wanting to get ride of him but i understand why jiaying needs to do that. He is capable of crazy things. Skye was trying really hard to find a common ground to make things go well. It doesn't sounds like will happen but i loved how she tried. Now with Lincoln and deathlock kidnapped the whole gang will need to reunite to save them and take down Hydra for good. Please writers, don't screw this up.
Me too, and that's the second time it's happened recently (the previous time was with the episode "One of Us" - the missing end scene was Gordon with Cal).
So thinking that the actions of characters should have realistic consequences and people shouldn't just forgive and forget the way they were betrayed and nearly murdered in 5 minutes is "childish"? How interesting. Personally, I find it much more childish when murder is casually handwaved because it was done by a hot guy who's part of a popular ship.
The moment where Ward says "So, Fitz, how've you been?" with that smug smile says it all. There was zero need to say that (unless one believes that Ward genuinely cares, which he clearly doesn't given his voice and expression when he said that). He just enjoyed twisting the knife - that Fitz had no choice but to work with someone who had done something so horrible to him. He hasn't changed one bit.
I find Wara/Kara really gross, the woman isn't in her right mind even if she's begun to recover. She just latched onto the first person who was kind to her after Whitehall died because she was completely lost and didn't know what to do. It's not a relationship of equals, with her clearly being dependent on him because of her mental and emotional state. Plus, if she fully knew who and what Ward is, I doubt she'd feel the same way about him. She was a SHIELD agent and we all know what Ward did to that organization.
One minute he was making house plans with her then Coulson mention Skye and he is back to full stalker mode, ignoring Kara remarks about Skye shooting him. He did say he reasons to play along with Coulson but at the end he was already calling him boss. No really what you would call a new man going into a redemption ark. Kara will totally lose here. I will be shocked if they don't make her one of the bodies laying around on the season finale. I feel bad for her character.
Hunter touching Fitz's leg to calm him when it was shaking, apart from being sure to inspire much slash fiction, was everything. I adore this guy, I can't believe we're losing him to the spin-off.
I've already said that elsewhere but, notice the smug voice and face when Ward asked Fitz "How've you been?". If the writers are trying to tell me that this is a man on the path to redemption, they're doing a REALLY bad job of it, because that line gave the impression that he enjoyed twisting the knife for Fitz, not that he feels any kind remorse over what he did to him. One may or may not accept the possibility of Ward being redeemed, but even if you believe it's possible - what has he done so far to demonstrate that he's ON that path? I see zero progress from the end of last season until now.
I will wait out to see how the remaining episode will play to make a full remark but yeah, i don't think they will or should go the redemption ark for him. The majority of the fans of the show prefer Ward post hydra reveal, being the outside, playing his own game, no sure alliances. As a main character it was expected he woud go back to work with the team he needed to included on the storyline but i don't think it's a permanent thing. He still the same smug face Ward. Nobody will suddenly forget everything him and welcome him on the team because he help out, but he will still be around. I'm still trusting the writers. Let's see if they disapoint until ep 22.
I'm with you... it was the worst episode from 2B... possibly this season... possibly from the whole show so far... but it wasn't enough to tune me out. Not with AoU around the corner. And there's still things that work to the show's benefit so I'm willing to stick it out despite this horrible misstep.
Fitz was so great in this episode, and well Simmons and May's reaction to see Coulson with Ward said it all. Bloody hell. I loved the Cal and Skye scenes, I felt bad for him and you can tell how conflicted Skye was and how she tried to do right by him. That scene when she tells him to move on was heartbreaking.
Ward is still a scum creeper. Ugh. Fitz's reaction was everything I wanted tough, he won't forgive and neither will I!
It is all tying in nicely to Age of Ultron, which I'm off to see this morning, yay!
For real. It was a downer to hear about Hunter leaving to the spin-off just as he's beginning to really become part of the family. Fitz/Hunter has been wonderful since 2x04, when they saved the Bus together and high-fived and then Hunter bought him a beer. :-)
No he hasn't and poor Kara thinks Ward cares one whit about her, and sadly he don't. The second he heard Skye's name, you could literally see his ears prick upwards in a nanosecond, he wanted more of that. It was like Kara who? I have a feeling she will finally see the truth slapping her in the face. Ward is not to be trusted. He's using her for his own sycophantic pleasure. She literally worships the guy and he's not even worth her loyalty. I hope she catches a wake up sooner rather than later.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Best moment of this episode was Fitz ready to give Ward a great slap on his face lol, Hunter had to hold him..you go Fitz!!!
ReplyDeleteSimmons is me when she saw Ward with Couslon: "Bloody Hell" lol
I'm just going to ignore like two scenes and three lines and we're good to go (the Ward/Kara of it because while I'm thrilled she's recovered, I'm pissed all these developments happened off screen and just ugh).
ReplyDelete"Fitz IS OUR ONLY BACK-UP. YOUR CALL, BOSS?" is what killed me, along with Coulson's line to Bobbi.
Oh God, the semi-Skyeward reunion! I'm dead again.
Shipping Mike/Kara like burning. Oops.
Really excited for next week!
Intense episode if AOS. Coulson, Mike, Fitz, Hunter, Ward and Agent 33 work well together. They're all kick ass. Skyes life is pretty chaotic. I really hope may has a plan B cause I don't want her staying with this "Real Shield"
ReplyDeleteWow. That was a hell of a lot of stuff happening. Waiting until next week will be so hard.
ReplyDeleteAnd everyone is meeting up in Wisconsin again. (As someone living in Wisconsin, I find it amusing that they keep showing up in WI)
Wow, I called that Mexican standoff.
ReplyDeleteIm going to see AOU on Saturday, Does this tie in well?
ReplyDeleteFor some reason my DVR wasn't working right and it started to record right at that scene. I forgive it because at least I got to see that. I wanted that to happen for the last year.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess Hydra was tracking Gordon. I guess that brings the in humans directly into everything instead of just Skye.
ReplyDeleteI was so wary about tonight's episode that I couldn't stop thinking about it all day but after seeing it I gotta say, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It had tons of action which is a plus.
ReplyDeleteI was so cautious about the Coulson/Grant alliance going into the episode that I was keeping my eye on every little word that came out of his mouth and every movement haha. My favorite part was when Fitz got up and went after Ward. Fitz is my favorite character on the show.
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought of you when everyone was pointing their guns at each other XD You were right!!

ReplyDeletePretty good episode. Not here for Ward redemption. I hope that's not where they're going with the Tahiti thing. ReplyDeleteCal is definitely Crazy but I felt bad for him.
Excited for next week!
Yeh, as others have pointed out, Ward came alive as a character the moment he killed Victoria Hand, and any redemption arc would ruin him.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Ward is still scum! I hate him so.
ReplyDeleteFitz FTW!!!!!!!!
Yeh, the Ward thing turned out better than I thought except for that line, it was cringe worthy.
ReplyDelete- I want Grant to be an antihero for Coulson and for them to be allies but not for a looong while (like next season or so). But certainly not have him back on the team in the next episode!! It's too soon and I feel like the bridge has burned IMO. Please don't screw this up writers. Please.

It is definately too soon, but I will let it go if this is not permanent thing. If it's a permanent thing, I would likely stop watching.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me what happened at the very end, my tv stopped working
ReplyDeleteme too I don't know what happend after we'll be back in a moment
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't stop watching (it's my favorite show ever) but I would lose a ton of respect for the writers in every way and it would take a lot for them to gain it back.

Totally loved this episode!! Is it next week already!

ReplyDeleteKlutzy_girl, You said the same phrase with the daredevil ship. I ship xxx like burning. That is a unique way to describe something. I assume it means along the lines of ship the nth degree or similar?
ReplyDeleteWell, that was as bad and clearly preset as I feared the writers would go. So Ward shippers win then...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it does not end up that bad. If they still hate him when this all over and, I'd be ok with it. But the fact that they included that last line from Ward is troublesome.
ReplyDeleteIt never started for me. not bashing you or anything but, I don't really see the show with kid eyes,
ReplyDeleteNo the episode and the trailer for the next one to me makes it clear. Utter handwaving BS has entered the show.
ReplyDeleteAfter tonight I think they've nailed their colours to the mast and I hate it. This was Ward return all over it and I swear killed my interest in the show in one show. How many ways could they make Ward "THE ONLY IMPORTANT GUY".
ReplyDeleteA small comfort is seeing the Ward fans deal with the evidence that he failed in brainwashing.
Short of a miracle next week I think I'm done after the fanboism, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteThing is they don't know that.
ReplyDeleteI say give it till the end of the season before dropping the show...you may never know, everything can change before now and then.
ReplyDeleteWhy? They are clearly going to have Ward back on the team no matter waht at this stage( with Bobbi and hunter gone),so for Ward no harm no foul (except the brain damage, death, fridge release etc...). What's the point in any of the arcs?
ReplyDeletehe meant when he infiltrated them in the first half
ReplyDeleteLOL, no he didn't. He would've said if he infiltrated them but he didn't sooo.
ReplyDeleteYeah a lot of people are dumping the show after this episode but I'm still holding out hope that the writers know what they're doing. They can't be that stupid, they really can't.

But whatever... if one can look past some of the convenient plot holes and ploys, it was a fun episode.
I liked that too. Too bad Gordon showed up.
ReplyDeletethat scene with simmons and may and how may was defending coulson, Fitz, and how coulson was only lieing to protect skye and she did not care what was in the box gotta love that
ReplyDeleteCoulson turned himself in to Bobbi and Mack
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if Coulson really intends to do it...after all he said he gave his word as "director of Shield" which technically he currently is not.
ReplyDeleteToo many people forget this is a spy show and it annoys me to read their childish comments week after week after week.
ReplyDeletethey wouldn't believe him anyway but Ward was NEVER Hydra, he made that VERY clear, he didn't even say their saying? mantra? well what Hydra always says LOL he never said it
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell just happened?
ReplyDeleteIt was all over the place (in a good, and exciting way).
I couldn't tell what was going to happen for at least the last third.
Yes it does!
ReplyDeleteCoulson's "sweetie" response had me laughing because it was such a dad thing to do.
ReplyDeletefitz, my poor baby :'(
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can't really jump over the writers intentions. The episode hit rock bottom for me, not sure if I'll bother next week
ReplyDeleteYou mean the Ward's just misunderstood nice guy BS.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, pity I missed that.
ReplyDeleteNo, he means that Ward's neither wholly good or pure evil, he's an extremely flawed person who, deep down, DOES care - see his interactions with Kara this episode - but has an incredible self-destructive tendency of constantly making easier choices than right ones, which often leads to him hurting people, especially his loved ones. Now with Lincoln and deathlock kidnapped the whole gang will need to reunite to save them and take down Hydra for good. Please writers, don't screw this up.
Overall, totally enjoyed this! Loved basically every scene with Fitz in it, but hands down the best was Fitz launching at Ward. So perfect.
ReplyDeleteSimmons defending Fitz wasn't so bad either!
Yeah you're right about that. You think maybe he was lying to him so they can align with each other?
ReplyDeleteMe too, and that's the second time it's happened recently (the previous time was with the episode "One of Us" - the missing end scene was Gordon with Cal).
ReplyDeleteThe last 5 minutes of the episode were one big clusterf*ck.
ReplyDeleteSo thinking that the actions of characters should have realistic consequences and people shouldn't just forgive and forget the way they were betrayed and nearly murdered in 5 minutes is "childish"? How interesting. Personally, I find it much more childish when murder is casually handwaved because it was done by a hot guy who's part of a popular ship.

ReplyDeleteInteresting how the poster for this episode depicted an exact scene from it. I can't remember the last time that's happened.
ReplyDeleteOne minute he was making house plans with her then Coulson mention Skye and he is back to full stalker mode, ignoring Kara remarks about Skye shooting him. He did say he reasons to play along with Coulson but at the end he was already calling him boss. No really what you would call a new man going into a redemption ark. Kara will totally lose here. I will be shocked if they don't make her one of the bodies laying around on the season finale. I feel bad for her character.
ReplyDeleteHunter touching Fitz's leg to calm him when it was shaking, apart from being sure to inspire much slash fiction, was everything. I adore this guy, I can't believe we're losing him to the spin-off.
ReplyDeleteMay, I'm disappointed in you.
Poor Cal.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else who says clusterfuck xD. It was so intense, I was sure someone was about to die.
ReplyDeleteI will wait out to see how the remaining episode will play to make a full remark but yeah, i don't think they will or should go the redemption ark for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you... it was the worst episode from 2B... possibly this season... possibly from the whole show so far... but it wasn't enough to tune me out. Not with AoU around the corner. And there's still things that work to the show's benefit so I'm willing to stick it out despite this horrible misstep.
ReplyDeleteI'm so into the Fitz/Hunter friendship, hope that Fitz guests on the spin-off for more fun and touching times.
ReplyDeleteFitz was so great in this episode, and well Simmons and May's reaction to see Coulson with Ward said it all. Bloody hell. I loved the Cal and Skye scenes, I felt bad for him and you can tell how conflicted Skye was and how she tried to do right by him. That scene when she tells him to move on was heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteWard is still a scum creeper.
ReplyDeleteNo he hasn't and poor Kara thinks Ward cares one whit about her, and sadly he don't.
ReplyDeleteStill not clear yet but i think Bakshi played Ward and Kara. Somehow the brainwashing failed.
