Absolutely brilliant episode. Holly Taylor, Keri russell, and Matthew Rhys were all fantastic, and that reveal scene was handled beautifully by all involved. Loved that final scene as well; incredibly tense, and it's clear how much responsibility has now shifted to Paige. Looking forward to what's next.

I always love it when a show takes a big plotline that has been boiling over for ages and unleashes it not during the obvious season finale but just during a random episode (and not even at the end of the episode!)
Paige finally finding out is magnificent. It has been a long time coming and the way it happened was great. Holly Taylor has always been good in the role but she absolutely nailed it this week.
I mean how do you react to news that your parents are Russian spies? I probably would have run away!
Also just to add to the awkwardness is Henry just acting like a normal kid and having no idea!
I thought what I would have said to my child had we had in a situation, why I lied to her? I think the core thing is that with this knowledge she can't be simply who she is. She needs to check her words, be afraid of what happens with her parents, has to lie to other people - in short it completely ruins her innocence and brings her into a situation where she either suck it up (like it or not), or she would destroy the two people whom she loved.

Holly Taylor knocked it out of the park during Paige's confrontation with her parents. As always, Rhys and Keri were amazing too. What a great scene. Whew!!!
Elizabeth speaking Russian in front of Paige, the next morning - goosebumps.
The agony that Philip and Elizabeth went through the whole day - feeling of dread accompanying them the whole time, wondering if everything would get destroyed by their own daughter.
Final scene as Stan comes to have dinner and Philip and Elizabeth are so jovial in their conversations that Paige can't believe her eyes at what she is seeing. Again, there was mounting tension in the air and Paige stared at Stan and in the background Phliip sharpened a knife. Great scene.
Martha - OMG!!! Did Stan just have his eureka moment? Remember back in S2, Stan had a dream in which his subconscious saw Martha taking files from the mail robot. Can't wait to see how this progresses. Philip now in more danger than he could imagine.
So, Zinaida is a spy. Wonder how that story line is going to be played out. Sooner or later, Arkady may end up briefing Oleg about the Zinaida situation and that will prove to be her downfall.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
great great episode. Poor paige!!
ReplyDeletePaige finally knows the truth. I love how they didn't make the moment wildly explosive. I look forward to how this affects the family going forward.
ReplyDeleteSurprised they let Paige know the truth this early. Anyways great episode and can't wait to see what Stan does.

There's never a good time to tell your child you're a Russian spy.
