Tough call, mainly because it was a boring episode....
ReplyDeletegreat character episode! best moments were between joss and john and the first ones between finch and john arguing about the dog lol
ReplyDeleteA lot of this episode worked for me cause of the structure, but gotta go with Runaway Bride. The fact that she's gotta continue the semi-perky façade while going through tremendous emotional turmoil deserves to appreciated.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time all season, im gonna vote against a root scene. She has been the best character this season but tonight was John and Carter's show and it was amazing. Anyone who didn't like this episode or are stay complaining about the placement in the season just don't get if you ask me. let it go.
ReplyDeleteI like it, but I'm not okay with the placement. Still think it would've benefitted if it was around Episodes 16-17.
ReplyDeletewon't lie though, root in a wedding dress... what guy wouldn't carry her home ? unless shaw has something to say about it.
ReplyDeleteJos & Jon were fantastic, tptb have to bring Carter back once again, there is so much that they have yet to say to one another. Great show.
ReplyDeleteOf course the two lame options are winning over the brilliantly written John/Carter moments
ReplyDeleteApril fools was two weeks ago pal
ReplyDeleteOther. All the Joss and Reese scenes, were flawless and brilliant! But especially the ending "You're not alone." and Joss' heartfelt speech about hope, love and happiness can be had again for him if he just let them in. *clings to them both*
ReplyDeleteCarter remains a beacon of hope. Going into what will obviously be an emotional finale; that; will be invaluable.
Asylum and YHWH look crazy. Even if root doesn't find shaw then and there i atleast hope she finds out she is indeed alive and gains hope. she hasn't emotionally suffered since shaws presumed demise.
ReplyDeleteSo the first time I saw this I thought there was sort of a hole left in the whole COTW aspect of the episode. The latter portion of the episode focused on Reese surviving the gunshot wound in the freezing cold and I get that while he's one of the series protagonists that his mortality was more important; however, what happened to the number? The last we were left off he was forced to swallow a handful of pills and left in the house...So I understand us as viewers being more concerned about the safety of John, but did they save the number, too? It was just a loose end I was left wondering once the episode was over that I said to my friend who agreed, but I guess maybe we're left to assume that when they rescued John they picked him up, too - still though they were pressed for time to save Reese so I'm not sure...That would be 2 weeks in a row where the number died which is usually not the norm on the show
ReplyDeleteYes? And your point is...?
ReplyDeleteThis was a generally badly-constructed episode, it seemed to me. Maybe the holes and dead ends were deliberate, for some reason--to reflect John's fragmenting consciousness, perhaps?--but yeah, what happened to the number? What was with the Phil/Gil name mistake, which afaik we never got an explanation for? What about that original stake-out? Instead, we get a lot of fan-pleasing internal fantasy, as John talks to his idea/memory of Joss. Because, folks, Joss DIDN'T come back. I never like these character talking to the ghost of someone or other in thier head things, and this late in the season it's just filler, pure and simple.
ReplyDeleteThe final scene for sure. An amazing performance by Jim Caviezel there.
ReplyDeleteA review: http://polarbearstv.com/2015/04/15/person-of-interest-terra-incognita-review-4x20/
They couldn't, because Taraji couldn't shoot before February or something like that. It was partially a timing error, so they decided to run with a calmer/emotional x.20 episode.
ReplyDeleteIf it had been possible, I agree with you. Would've trashed one of the weak episodes for it anytime. Maybe 4.17 out, putting 4.20 in its place, but keeping the 4.17 flashbacks and working them into 4.18 (Finch saving Beth <-> Finch wanting to kill Alicia). Oh, and the rest of 4.17 could've replaced 4.16 which I probably would just scrap entirely. :P
I liked the end when the car was coming.
ReplyDeleteThe Alicia flashbacks with those Finch/Root scenes in the same episode? BRILLIANT! :D
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks. It occured to me while writing this comment, how good those flashbacks would've fit into that episode. Huh. :)
ReplyDeleteI picked the final scene. The episode was more emotional on second viewing (as others have been), and that scene, among others, got me. Kudos to the writers for an ending that's quiet but still engaging -- hell, a whole set of scenes like that.
ReplyDeleteTwo honorable mentions: Chase telling his story to Carter (poignantly written and acted), and Finch's annoyance about Bear (Michael Emerson's delivery is brilliant).
All scenes with Reese n Carter ! - how I've missed their partnership n bond !!!
ReplyDelete♡ although, seeing Root in the wedding dress n Finches snark comments were quite funny
♡ Finch being so very troubled with the lack of communication w Reese........ worried buddy
