Highlights of this past year include covering San Diego Comic Con as press and a set visit to Bitten. When I'm not writing about television shows, I'm often writing about entertainment and media law in my capacity as a legal scholar. I also work in theatre when the opportunity arises. I don't even know where to begin. So many awesome scenes in an incredible episode overall.
ReplyDelete- Skye using her powers on the HYDRA agents for the first time during a mission. That one shot of just her being her badass self and taking down all those agents was definitely the highlight of the episode for me. She's really come a long way from her hacker days and it was all thanks to the Cavalry. Awesome job, Chloe!
- The team not giving in to any of Ward's bullshit. So proud of them for not forgiving him for all the pain he has caused them and were just trying to focus on the mission so they won't have to deal with him. Also laughed so much at everyone being snarky at him. "I'm still happy I shot you" "Yeah, me too" "Me too" "Should have aimed for the face".
- HYDRA shooting down The Bus. Besides losing the dearly Bus, the effects during that sequence was amazing and it really had the quality of a full fledged movie. Awesome job, VFX team!
- Mentions of Wanda and Pietro from Dr. List and Ultron and his army from Raina.
- More hints about what Theta Protocol actually is/Maria Hill cameo. So cool that Theta Protocol is connected to the Avengers. This really just made me even more hyped up for AOU this weekend.
Skye being badass and she really did that in one shot?! I'm totally impressed, amazing job Chloe.
ReplyDeleteSkye channeling her inner May and killing ten hydra agents in 30 seconds.
ReplyDeleteAll of these were in my long list. I consider Skye using her powers as part of her clearing the room and the Theta Protocol is part of the convo with Maria...
ReplyDeleteRIGHT?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteMy god that Skye scene was so great, I almost had tears in my eyes. So proud of how far she has come. The combination of having May as her SO, controlling her abilities and having confidence in herself has made her a force to be reckoned with.,
ReplyDeleteAlso the everyone shutting Ward down scene. Team Screw Ward is my favourite AOS team.
Wow she did that one shot? Hugely impressed!
ReplyDeleteThe whole episode was brilliant, but I especially loved Skye kicking some serious butt and saving Lincoln. She's really gotten a handle on her powers, not to mention some insanely good moves. :)
ReplyDeleteDamn...Everytime I think Ward is too far gone he does something which reminds me how much his mind was f... up by Garrett. But then, I had a feeling that his desire to help Kara was genuine. I just didn't expect him to realize that he couldn't do it.
ReplyDeleteetter
ReplyDeleteSkye kicking Hydra asses had me with my mouth on the floor. And when I found out Chloe did it in one take? It looked even cooler. I bow in front of Chloe, amazing.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?!?!? Is that in an interview? Can you hook a girl up?
ReplyDeleteI had Ward's call to Coulson on my long list!
ReplyDeleteI loved the whole moment from when Skye was using her powers
ReplyDelete"Just like old times huh" "not exactly" *quakes* "So that's what happened in Puerto Rico" (That look on Ward's face was gold :D)
up until the one-shot action sequence of Skye after that, it was awesome! She's finally got her confidence back because of her basic control of powers ... think(/hope) the finale will have her go full blown Quaking
Best quip: "Oh I thought her gift was spinning really fast to collect gold rings"
It wasn't an interview, a lot of people from set said it on twitter last night. The producers, some actors and the Marvel account. Amazing, right?
ReplyDeleteYeah me too, that episode was so good.
ReplyDeleteSO cool! I haven't had a chance to wade through twitter yet.... Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah I want to rewatch it tonight just to see that scene again!
ReplyDeleteMe too, that tv show is so perfect OMG
ReplyDeleteSo many good scenes: Skye going specialist on the Hydra agents is my first.
ReplyDeleteCoulson telling Gonzalez "Spoiler Alert" has to be my second.
And Team "We hate Ward" my third.
Then the rest of the episode is fourth.
Skye is so like a Mini May with powers (that was so like the cavalry*sorry*)
ReplyDeleteWhy is the scene description not: The Team SHUTS WARD DOWN.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I noticed about the Skye kick ass scene: It was all done in one shot.
ReplyDeleteYeah that is a truly epic achievement. She's come on so much as an actress since the pilot.
ReplyDeleteYou almost wish that the others could have seen her in action, that was May or Bobbi level of Bad Ass.
ReplyDeleteThe sequence with the Bus getting shot down is in my top moments of S2 right now. So cool I've watched it like 10 times so far.
ReplyDeleteSkye being trained by Ward AND May is almost unfair to the enemy goons. Almost.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah definitely mine as well! Just the way it was done and shot was so mesmerizing to watch.
ReplyDeleteIts times like this when the bad guys start to regret their life choices!
ReplyDeleteSkye was great in that fight scene, but now that's her standard if she does anything less in the future I'd be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI think you're giving Skye too much credit. I'm not trying to downplay what she has done in this scene; she was badass in it and she has come a long way from the hacktivist she was at the beginning of the show but we shouldn't forget that she was fighting against a bunch of lowly guards who are at the bottom of the hierarchy of strong fighters. I wouldn't really say this is the new normal for her.
ReplyDeleteThe fight sequence was a thing of beauty.
ReplyDeleteMarvel should really integrate a cameo of her together with Coulson in "Civil War.
ReplyDeleteThis is only valid till she will have full control over her gift. Then she will outperform most of the Avengers, old and new!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see it, but I think we all know it won't happen:(
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a hell of a gift alright. Hopefully next episode she can talk with the team without Gonzales. I really want to see their responses including Bobbi. I think Gonzales is losing her given his position on Skye.
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely on her way there, especially when the speculation of Skye becoming the face of the Inhuman turns out to be true, she's going to become a lot stronger.
ReplyDeleteI wonder given all the other bits that the Inhumans have (strength, reflexes etc) in the comics I wonder will we see anything suggesting that?
ReplyDeleteThat's why I wish they could have seen her in action. I'd bet even May and Bobbi would be impressed.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with the comics, so I can't really say anything about that aspect.
ReplyDeleteStill then its a bit bad "something" to think hydra would employ bad fighters for a secret base, either way they had tactical gear must of had training, and are armored. For Skye to taken out most of them with one shot would me she had accurate skills, and that skill will still be a standard by my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Marvel will need to transfer the Inhumans to the big screen before "Infinity War 1", as the other movies won't have the right storyline for that. And there are still three years till "Infinity War 1", a long run for AoS considering the actual ratings.
ReplyDeleteLet's see how the departure of JW will affect the MCU.
It's not only her gift, even more it is her attempt to protect everyone, as she cares for humans and inhumans equally (till now). Reminds a bit of Captain America in AoU.
ReplyDeleteTrue, when you think of it compare Ward and Skye as Shield agents. She's taken the call of "Protection" to heart while like Garrett Ward missed the whole core value of Shield.
ReplyDeleteAnd that after all she has been through. The things I'm now really curious about is the real position of her mother in the Inhuman society and what is the real deal with Lincoln.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's pretty clear that they were at least competent. So we should be thinking about Skye being at that level constantly, and since Bobbi is going it makes sense to have her being a Bad Ass as well.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it makes her value Shield a lot more. I'm guessing that we'll see more about that in the next episode, given Shield and the Inhumans are about to clash. As for Lincoln, what do you mean? Do you think he's got a hidden agenda?
ReplyDeleteThat is a bit more accurate heading for it.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much the list I'd come up with as well.
ReplyDeleteWell, I would hope someone saw the aftermath. Someone probably helped her push Lincoln out of there.
ReplyDeleteThat would have been Jemma, but given how she was dealing with the fallout Ward so may not have been paying attention. But yeah I'd just love to have seen them reacting...
ReplyDeleteNot really a hidden agenda but that his character will be more then just a simple love interest for Skye.
ReplyDeleteYep, you're right; Simmons helped push him out. Also, the room outside was pretty dark. Still, they probably had to move a body or two to get Lincoln out of there. I mean, they were everywhere, after all.
ReplyDeleteThought so too, thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh I hope so as well, I could see him perhaps being Skye's/Shields/Us view into the Inhuman people and culture. While Gonzales is overreacting, even Coulson and May must be thinking, "Holy Crap, we thought we had a handle on Gifted and now there's an entire people out there!", mostly because they don't know enough about the Inhumans.
ReplyDeleteThe scene where Skye was totally badass taking out those hydra agents
ReplyDeleteBecause having an elephant on the bus is funnier and it also describes the entire scene not just the end.
ReplyDeleteI loved the glee with which Coulson said that!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll Ward scenes! I stand with Ward :)
ReplyDeleteThe all Skye scene was incredibile, loved every second of it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the reaction from Gonzales to it!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy do we only get one vote this time?
ReplyDeleteOh well...
Skye's oner fight was pretty awesome from a technical perspective. Good job crew & cast!
Coulson handing the toolbox and walking away like a boss after the throwing out that Fury line. (though I would have liked Bobbi to look a bit more dumbfounded by the news too rather than being smug...)
And Team debriefing in the bus.
