The BBC's hit new drama has been officially renewed for a second season. Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One, said earlier today "I can exclusively announce that Sunday’s night new phenomenon Poldark that has captured the nations’ hearts has been commissioned for a second series. Aidan Turner will return as Ross Poldark and Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza in a new eight-part series written by Debbie Horsfield that will cover books three and four of Winston Graham’s series.”
Books three and four cover the years 1790-1793 and are titled 'Jeremy Poldark' and 'Warleggan'.

Well, it was a given I think considering the figures and reception, but I'm very happy to have the official news none the less!

ReplyDeleteThe previous series filmed in the '70s is the still the second biggest selling British period drama, and the books are wildly popular worldwide. I imagine that it will eventually be sold to at least 100 or so countries before S2 is broadcast, like most popular BBC dramas are.
