I will say this again and again until OUAT ends but these two arrrrrrrrggg <3 No matter how you see them, as a BrOTP, as an OTP, they just have one of the best develeppement I've ever seen in any TV shows. I just love this relationship so much and I really don't know how to not ship them :p
Definitely. I'm not really a shipper, but I do like Regina and Robin together. However, that doesn't mean I cannot appreciate the friendship between Emma and Regina. They've overcome so much together.
Oh don't worry;) To each his own ;) I'm just glad that you can still appreciate their relationship no matter how you see it because it's just a beautiful thing :D
I totally agree! Lately I've been almost more invested in Brotps or family ships than romantic ships. That's why I love OUAT so much thanks to Regina/Henry, The Charmings/Emma, Emma/Regina/Henry, Snow/Regina, Emma/Regina (Emma/The Snow Queen, Regina/Rumple,...). Those are so much more compelling than any romantic relationships OUAT ever had because for me all the couple are just lacking of something.... But even if I ship SQ in fanon, I'm perfectly happy with how things are between them in the show right now.
It's the same when I watch Agents of Shield (for Skye/May, Sky/Coulson, Sky/her mother, Fitzsimmons, Bobby/Simmons) or Vampire diaries (Damon/Bonnie, Katerine and her daughter), I just don't care about romantic ships for those shows anymore.
Oh great yet another found Page and an anointed one at that. Lillith Page, daughter to James and Priscilla baptised in August of 1983?... Thought Emma was born in 1982. Long wait for a baptism especially considering Lillith was born month earlier. Oh yes, that's right time no longer matters in this show any longer as these are all just literary realms the author passes through. Hoping the four get all liquored up and get tattoos and take Zelena's clover on the way out of New York so they can pull another trick or two as the girls switch places back and forth on parents. They should steel Gold's Cadillac as they need room for 5 and oh yea they need that scroll back that Rumple has.
Slaps myself for ignorance as show does start on Oct 23, 2011 and they wrote in the date in episode 17 of season 2 though it is wierd in that Oct 23 1983 is the first day of Storybrooke but mysthaven was destroyed at night and Emma was born at night, and the town arrive shortly thereafter as witnessed by Owen and Greg. So it is possible Emma's birth date is Oct 22, though how would she know that and why is Oct 23 1983 the only dated news paper in Storybrooke with a headline that was decided October 24, though the attack on Beirut was on the 23rd. So Emma is born 2 months later than Lillith
Ignore showing as with Phillip. Newspaper here shows August and when Storybrooke began read October so two month difference and I seriously doubt they held up the adoption or waited on the Baptism which I found interesting as there is no religion in Storybrooke so far but there is always a first.
It is worth it, disembowel this man and let his suffer in freakish missery listening to the lamentations of his women as they stare upon what remains of his corpse. jk but nice to see chainsaw get her game back on
You can baptize your baby when you want. It is adviced to do it as soon as possible, but there is no deadline and the choice is the parents and the parents only. I was baptized the same day as my older brother, I was 6 months old and he was almost 3 years old. My goddaughter was baptized when she was 2. Some people even baptize when they are grown adults since their parents where not believers.
You can look at the canon law on the subject or not but traditionally it is interpretted by churches as baptize in weeks not months taking into account the health of the mother and child. Some churches only have baptisms once a month. Some do not baptize around Easter. There are always excuses but with excuses come consequence. You can convert whenever you want but the older you get the more the Church will question if you are committed to be a Christian. It gets worse if they feel you need to be confirmed or if you want to get married in that church as the training can last months in which time you could die. Plus baptism is for most churches a one time only ceremony so if you get baptized Presbyterian do not expect to be baptized Catholic or Orthodox and or married. There is a lot that goes into delaying a christening, but imagine you have to tell your pastor and your family about the baby and not tell them the baptism is.... Also and I remember this for Ginifer Goodwin and the naming of her child there are some people in some religions who will not name their babies but once and that is either at a christening, baptism or briss, and that is their custom and how they do things. SO, while you are technically correct, you are historically wrong. It will not make a difference to some but to others they will be alarmed. And as I tell many talk to churches and see what they can all agree upon. there is much.
I don't get this post! Lily is older than Emma right? She hatched as she went through the portal. Snow was still pregnant. When lily got to New York she was raised by villains right? Maybe a couple months???? Then she's adopted and baptized.
The Villains left Lillith do die back in Minnesota.
No telling how villains ended up in New York.
Lillith baptised in Minneapolis and meets Emma in Hopkins.
The last name Page is Author funny as in looking for the missing Page or adding a Page the Author left out.
This all started getting Interesting when Snow told Regina to find some Grace. Grace is Jefferson's daughter currently known as Paige. Perhaps the added page was a call to find the missing Page and in doing so learn what happened with Emma , Mariane Robin and Zelena and get back Regina's happy ending from the one person who is responsible for helping characters find a happy ending , Emma.
Strange thing to this clip is a Christian church supposedly Christened a steel dragon child which would cleanse her of original sin, in other words clean her of her evil. I am thinking some Christians may find this offensive. Me, I am still wondering when the evil creeps in. She was not evil with Emma.
Traditionally, people didn't leave in cities and not all villages had their appointed priest. Traditionally, people who had kids during late autumn and winter didn't baptize them right away because they didn't want to risk the baby getting sick. Besides, traditional baptism, the one descriibed in the Bible you were so eager to quote, is very different to the modern one. So, don't tell me I'm historically wrong.
The church doesn't ask "if you are committed" to Christianity. Granted, you need to go to some courses to learn traditions and what-so-ever if you wish to convert, but Christians don't put much stop to people who want to join them since that's the ultimate goal of our religion: everyone must convert for us to go to Heaven.
Confirmation is "mandatory" for all subdivisions of Christianity if you wish to receive other sacraments like Marriage or becoming a priest. But no one makes you do it. You have two choices, you either renew your baptism vows or you are not a practicant, but it is your choice nevertheless. I don't know what you are talking about "if they feel like you need to confirmed".
"Baptism is for most churches a one time only ceremony so if you get baptized Presbyterian do not expect to be baptized Catholic or Orthodox" If you wish to 'convert' into other branch of Christianity you just need to make the confirmation that the new branch sees fit. Couple of hundred of Anglicans and Protestants change to Catholicism and it's a fair easy ceremony.
And I'm not going to keep talking about religion in a topic that has no relation to it. Since OUAT is not even a religious TV show.
1 there is no requirement that a priest perform the initial baptism.any one who chose to wait did so in error and should have done it informally and then formally. 2 yes churches do and as a person who has studied theology and has dealt with this situation before, good luck with those churches who set up courses for all participants. 3 Surprise I have been in several weddings were the church asked for a baptism but no confirmation or chrismation as they essentially serve the same purpose 4 who mentioned wanting to convert, in mixed marriages each spouse may want to have the child christened and will learn at that point it does not happen that way.
And OUAT has a nunnery, Friar Tuck and the Bishop who married the Charmings n the Pilot. Mary Margaret wore a cross for a good part of season one. They just got through introducing the god Poseidon. Robin is shooting Cupid's bow. Rumple has the Golden fleece, Pazuzu and Thor's hammer. You have seen a wedding and at least two funeral services and you do not see religion in the show. They trivialize it best they can but they can not avoid it especially when they use fairy tales originally written by Hans Christian Anderson who wove religion into all his tales.
And BTW "Lilith is the most notorious demon in Jewish tradition. In some sources, she is conceived of as the original woman, created even before Eve, and she is often presented as a thief of newborn infants. Lilith means “the night,” and she embodies the emotional and spiritual aspects of darkness: terror, sensuality, and unbridled freedom. More recently, she has come to represent the freedom of feminist women who no longer want to be “good girls.”
You are right to point out that Ouat has some curious religious references--if I was a Catholic, would I be offended by the magic--possibly read as occult things--that often take place in the Storybrooke convent? For example, when everyone is trying to defeat the Shadow in the chapel in "Going Home". Are they respectful with their references to religion--I'm not religious so I don't know. I know first season David mirrors the life of King David in many ways and there are a ton of other sprirtual--dare I say, Biblical--parallels, but that is a separate subject than religion.
There is rarely another show on TV (so noncontroversial and reasonably family friendly) that has the potential to and does spark discussions about religion, spirituality, and morality. Despite what some want believe, you cannot discuss fairytales in depth without the topics of religion and spirituality coming up. There are tons of books on the subject.
Personally, I'm surprised the went there with the Baptism thing. On first watch, I didn't realize the newspaper headline about Baptisms was related to the Lily picture. Maybe, it is more realistic than an adoption announcement? I don't know if those are a thing, especially, I guess if the parents do not want the kid to know they are adopted? Maybe Lily finding out and feeling like she was lied to is the reason she ran away in the first place?
Apparently, Lost had some curious religious references. The whole show was a metaphor for purgatory--at least that's what I've heard. And there was something about a shrine to all the major world religions, too.
My favorite Catholic slight was naming Snow White, May Margaret, and dressing her up in the pilot like a novice complete with the cross around her neck. They wrote in a backstory much later to explain the name but they simply removed the necklace.
Now they are playing with Jewish legend and creating what would be an end of the world second coming fight only good and evil are both female. And yes LOST was thought to be a rewrite of "Dante's Infierno. " This could be a quasi "Paradise Lost" with all the Romantic Tales being reminders of Adam and Eve and how each girl is punished until her prince rescues her. The Darkness sits there tempting them and now we find out Emma and Lillith are forever destined to collide. No Adam only Eve and Lillith.
Expect some theologians will take note of this and protest. After all this "family" show is on Sunday.
As for me I just point out road signs and enjoy the scenery. This is like Highway Bingo and I spy an elfish birthmark on a baby and a girl drinking lots of cinnamon as well. Looking for some Dwarfs and finding another story there.
When I need a reference I do but this is applied religion, built into faerie tales back when they were written being altered by a show to imply an end of the world scenario is coming. Surprise, there is a point to this and it should look something like Emma fighting a Dragon with the Dark One's Dagger. Just imagining.
And more power to them if the can make these allusions to literature, incorporate some allegory, and at least aknowledge religion in a way were you can debate whether it's a nod or a jest. A lot of TV shows and movies avoid these things like the plague. It actaully convinces me they aren't just completely pulling ideas out of a hat and have some kind of long game for the show--even if some of the details are a bit sketchy.
No, I do think they are pulling ideas out of a hat and that is a bit disrespectful but people like not knowing where this journey will end, not me but people and I just keep looking at who they wil take from next to remember them properly.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Love this !
ReplyDeleteLook who's becoming BFFs ...
ReplyDeleteI think this is going to be a defining episode in many ways.
Emma finding her path, Regina getting back with Robin, Emma and Regina being confidantes ...
I will say this again and again until OUAT ends but these two arrrrrrrrggg <3 No matter how you see them, as a BrOTP, as an OTP, they just have one of the best develeppement I've ever seen in any TV shows. I just love this relationship so much and I really don't know how to not ship them :p

ReplyDeleteOf course. Besides, to me, a friendship can hold as much love as a romantic relationship can. It's just a different kind.

ReplyDeleteThere's not a time period during which you have to perform your child's baptism. And maybe Lily's parents didn't adopt her right away...
ReplyDeleteEmma was open in 83
ReplyDeleteshow starts 2010 on Emma's 28th birthday
ReplyDeleteThose 2 are sonamazing together. Adore their scenes. They certainlybbecame BFFs.
ReplyDeleteIf that is a two year old in the pic she is small for her age
ReplyDelete2011
ReplyDeletethat's not a 2 year. Lilly in that pic is a few months old. And she along with Ingrid, Emma, August, Cruella, and Ursula arrived in 1983
ReplyDeleteWrong. show begins 2010, Henry is 10 and Emma is 28. Or do you want to rewrite the entire pilot episode as well?
ReplyDeletethe first season of OUAT was part of 2011/2012 season. Emma was birthday was the very 1st episode om Oct 23, 2011. Henry was born in 2001
