Thanks to Koky for the heads up
Stephen Amell has been tapped to play Casey Jones in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2″ for Paramount and Platinum Dunes.
Megan Fox is set to return as April O’Neil. Will Arnett is also returning. David Green is directing the pic. Plot details and information on other returning cast members are still unknown.
A loner who becomes an ally of the turtles and a love interest for O’Neil, Jones is a fan favorite of the series going back to when Elias Koteas played him in the 1990 New Line pic.
Michael Bay is producing along with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are penning the script.
Amell tested with a half-dozen actors over the weekend, but it was his chemistry with Fox that led to the studio eventually giving the role to the star of CW’s “Arrow.” Paramount had no comment on the casting.

What a fantastic day. Honored to play Casey Jones in #TMNT2
Posted by Stephen Amell on Tuesday, March 31, 2015
not sure if that's an aprils fools joke or a more appropriately timed (April, get it?) announcement
ReplyDeleteBut whatever, TMNT was alright, doesen't require good acting so that's cool
This one might be an actual thing, I've seen this being reported on multitple sites.
ReplyDeleteHuh? So it's true? I thought it was an April Fools joke, but ok, congrats to him I guess.
ReplyDeleteI was more or less expecting Casey to make an appearance in the sequel and I can see Stephen working in the part.
ReplyDeleteIt is honestly the perfect casting, but this had to be a Michael Bay movie? That's my only issue, honestly
ReplyDeleteI hope this is an aprils foolf joke, otherwise I'll have to watch the first one, and I really don't want to :-/
ReplyDeleteOmg!! I had such a crush on Elias as Casey Jones!! And now baby is playing Casey! Which gives me an actual reason to watch the first Movie, and this one. Eww, don't like that he's opposite Megan Fox though. Is this a joke??? LOL Is this announcement a joke? idk if i should be taking this seriously.
ReplyDeleteWhat? How? Why? A second TMNT? That can't be right. Who would pay for that to get made?
ReplyDeleteOh, Stephen, not even for you.
First one made about 4 times it's budget. Not that I saw it or anything but it did decent business.
ReplyDeleteIf this is true, STOKED. If not, oh well, I won't have to watch the first one.
ReplyDeleteThe numbers on IMDB have box office of $190M and budget of $125M. That's not 4 times?? Do you have different figures from somewhere?
ReplyDeleteConsidering Stephen posted this at March 31, it's likely real and not any April 1st joke,,
ReplyDeleteGood for him and I hope he gets better roles afterwards.
I hope I can watch this movie without watching the first because.. eh..
Great to here. Always good for Stephen to get more recognition. Hopefully it can boost his career further and maybe even make arrow a bigger show.
ReplyDeleteMegan was okayISH in part one. A bit annoying but okay. But Will Arnett was entertaining enough to enjoy the movie.
ReplyDeleteI love Will Arnett. Megan, i just, sigh...she sucks. LOL I don't like her acting. And as a big fan of TMNT growing up, i was really afraid i was going to be disappointed with this movie. The trailers weren't really bringing me in either. I didn't want to see my love for the Turtles, tarnished. lol Ya know?
ReplyDeleteThat's kinda mean Mac. Also while I would have agreed with you in the pilot or a lot of season one, I cannot disagree anymore now. Dude's ability to differentiate between all the Oliver's and subtle body language stuff and facial expressions are great. His voice is also well done in terms of how it differs on mood and again which time or Oliver he's playing.
ReplyDeleteThat's only in the US, not worldwide.
ReplyDeleteI repeat, do you have different figures from somewhere?

ReplyDeleteTotal gross of 485M worldwide.
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping they'd cast someone with a bit of charisma to play Casey, but he should do well with the action scenes.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea about TMNT. I need to educate myself now for Stephen's sake.
