2nd August 2016 - New TV Spots + Sneak Peek
Thanks to Ivan for the heads up.
29th July 2016 - The Flash to Appear + New TV Spot
Warner Bros’ upcoming DC film Suicide Squad has been given a dash (sorry) of Superheroism with Ezra Miller set to make his second DC Films cameo appearance as The Flash in the supervillains-as-heroes pic that hits theaters August 5.
The news was made public in the least flashy way possible as part of the Suicide Squad press notes from critics screenings the studio has been holding this week. No information about the length of Miller’s appearance or The Flash’s impact on the story has been disclosed and Warner Bros had no comment, but we’re hearing the appearance was shot during the Suicide Squad reshoots last spring. Miller’s take on The Flash debuted in two brief scenes in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which bowed March 25 in North America. One scene showed Miller out of costume as Barry Allen, stopping a robbery in a convenient store; the second occurred in a prophetic dream sequence during which Bruce Wayne is warned that allowing Lois Lane to be killed will result in Superman turning evil (it’s a weird moment to be sure.)

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity.
U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do.
However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

22nd July 2015 - Trailer Beats Batman v Superman As Most-Watched SDCC Trailer
More people have watched the Suicide Squad trailer than the one for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice since both were made available last week following their big debuts at Comic-Con.
As of Tuesday morning, Suicide Squad has been viewed more than 37.5 million times on YouTube, while Batman v Superman has 35.7 million views.
Suicide Squad’s trailer was posted last Monday after a low-quality version of it from Comic-Con leaked online during that weekend. That film, with Jared Leto, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie, will arrive in theaters Aug. 5, 2016, while Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill’s Batman v Superman comes out a few months before, on March 25.

25th April 2015 - First Look at Jared Leto as The Joker
20th January 2015 - Film Synopsis Revealed
SUICIDE SQUAD
Concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains rather than the usual focus on superheroes. The storyline will feature a mix of well-known and unknown villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes. Lead by Rick Flagg (Gyllenhaal), the group of villains includes Deadshot (Smith), Joker (Leto), and Harley Quinn (Robbie), plus Boomerang (Courtney) and Enchantress (Delevigne). The team is tasked on a mission to prevent 'bio weaponry' from being sold to Lex Luthor by a human trafficking gang. The gang is handing over the Enchantress to Luthor who it is implied wants her for magical abilities. They kidnap her and take her back to the prison where she is kept in an underground area, which has all sorts of genetic freaks imprisoned including a King Shark.

15th January 2015 - Tom Hardy Exits; Jake Gyllenhaal Eyed to Replace
Tom Hardy has dropped out of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros.’s all-star comic book movie being directed by David Ayer.
Hardy was to have played Rick Flagg, the leader of the group that consisted of Batman villains Deadshot (Smith), Joker (Leto), and Harley Quinn (Harley Quinn), plus Boomerang (Courtney) and Enchantress (Delevigne).
Reasons for Hardy’s exit weren’t immediately known although scheduling could be a factor, according to sources. The actor is currently shooting The Revenant, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s frontier drama that also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, and that shoot is now looking to go longer than initially planned.

17th December 2014 - Viola Davis Cast As Amanda Waller
According to sources, the lovely Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder) has bagged the role of major DC Comics villain and Prison Warden Amanda Waller in David Ayer's upcoming Suicide Squad. In the comics, Amanda Waller is a former congressional aide and government agent often placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former supervillains working in return for amnesty.
Now, the key here is that the role is hers provided that the filmmakers can work out her TV schedule, which will be no small feat considering how big of a hit How To Get Away With Murder is. If it works out she will be joining Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Boomerang (or Captain Boomerang), and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer were reported earlier as contenders for the role.

Gangsta mode !! I don't know what to feel about it
ReplyDeletea TATTOED Joker? really? show Flarrowverse fans boycott this movie?
ReplyDeleteNot a fan. Then again,I wasn't sure about Heath Ledger either, and look how that turned out. I still hope that Leto can make it work (he certainly has the chops for it) but the look will certainly be working against him. It looks like DC wanted to be too edgy and in the process made the Joker look like a russian mobster.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure this isn't promo art from The Following?
ReplyDeleteWas not expecting this at all. Kind of neutral about it. Have to wait and see how his actual performance will be. If he has all these tats will he be shirtless a lot? Cause he looks exactly like a lot of guys I went to high school with.
ReplyDeleteI'm not loving it.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a zombie...
ReplyDeleteIt's Harley Quinn I really wanna see.
ReplyDeleteTERRIBLE
ReplyDeleteThe joker never had Tattoos... Or did he?
ReplyDeleteIs this for real?
ReplyDeleteOhhh no. No. Just no. This is worse than what I imagined to begin with.
ReplyDeleteLooks really crazy, I like it
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping they don't screw her up. Her first big screen debut, they better get it right.
ReplyDeletesaw this a few hours ago and it, like most things DC, are wha-wha-wha -
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5atPYaxX0lM
Hmmm not a fan of it. They seem to push it a bit to far just for the wOw factor.
ReplyDeleteHoping for some pics of the other members soonish.
Creepy, good that they are going a completely different direction
ReplyDeleteSo creepy!
ReplyDeleteI would be able to accept all of it, if not for that one tattoo on his forehead. I just know that whenever he'll be on screen that's where my eyes will focus and it'll annoy the ever living daylight out of me. Cause I'm weird like that.
ReplyDeleteNightmare inducing!
ReplyDeletetwo words: just terrible.
ReplyDeleteForbes: 'But for this first image of Leto as the Joker, a different Frank Miller Batman story is more telling as a visual inspiration, perhaps. The controversial All-Star Batman & Robin series (which, for the record, I’m personally a fan of) included a Joker who was more of a hardened criminal type, with more muscles and tattoos covering a lot of his torso.'
ReplyDeletehttp://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2015/04/25/jared-letos-joker-revealed-for-suicide-squad-see-what-it-means/
He looks more like Zoro from that One Piece manga.
ReplyDeleteOutrage has become a habit. Will only judge when I see his performance as the Joker.
ReplyDeleteThere's never been a good reason to have her on the Squad so I'm interested to see how they handle her in this.
ReplyDeleteAfter releasing this God awful picture Yesterday, what comes on today? (That I'm watching now) TDK. Think TPTB are trying to say something...just saying.
ReplyDeleteYou do know that all these pics are just fan art speculation right? None of these pictures are real, just what some fans were hoping for. And apparently all those top ten pictures were WAY off, b/c no one thought they'd make him look like this released picture above. Smmfh. I'd take these fan drawings over their official decision any day.

ReplyDeleteOne of Miller's issues had him on the cover shirtless and tatooed
ReplyDeletehttp://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_large/5/56044/2179506-all_star_batman_and_robin_the_boy_wonder__2005__08a_.jpeg
Thanks for the roundup.
ReplyDeleteOf all the DC movies in the pipeline this is the one I'm looking the most forward to.
Now on the Joker... I like it... I'd like it more without the forehead tatoo, but the rest is working for me... Kinda has a Killing Joke vibe....
Oh yea thanks u think I read this issue but im not sure I read tons of comics so I get confused but I forgot about this.
ReplyDeletewell okay then, so should Flarrowverse fans boycott it?
ReplyDeleteeven when they took the Suicide Squad off the Flarrowverse?
ReplyDeleteI don't see why they should...
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't understand why DC has been pulling characters off from the TV verse just because they want to be used in the movie-verse, nor do I agree with them doing so, I don't think it's enough of a reason to stop anyone from looking forward to the movie.
ReplyDelete... but in a positive way in the context of the character and the movie?
ReplyDeleteWhy just "Flarrowverse" fans?
ReplyDeleteDC fan in general, I hate this look.
Wasn't a fan of this either.
ReplyDeleteThat's fair enough. I was just saying a tattooed Joker is not so far out there in terms of canon either.
ReplyDeletenot because of the look, because of the way DC treated the Arrow version of the Suicide Squad
ReplyDeleteI'm not entirely sure, haha. It is certainly something. I need to see him in a full outfit before I properly judge.
ReplyDeleteTattoos are not out there, but right-on-the-nose tattoos are a silly idea. 'Ha's all over his body, the word 'Damaged'....at least the dragon tattoo was DC's way of making him more of a badass...the tattoos this Joker has makes him look like a teenager who thinks no one gets him.
ReplyDeleteDC did nothing. The Suicide Squad could still exist but without Deadshot and let's see if Arrow does continue it(which I doubt).
ReplyDeleteWhile I can't and won't defend the "damaged" on the forehead, (because yeah, that one screams "teenage emo phase bad decision you'll regret later in life") I personally think the rest are interesting, even if a bit on the nose... but I get it if someone doesn't like them.
ReplyDelete*nods* I'm with ya.
ReplyDeleteCostume and performance will be the real defining factor.
But for me, this first visual is at the very least not entirely disappointing... could have done without the "damaged" tattoo though...
Leto probably has the hardest job in the new DC movies because Ledger's performance was so well regarded and beloved. But he is a very interesting actor and I am definitely intrigued by his casting and look forward to it playing out on screen.
ReplyDeleteAs much as that might be indeed the case, I think this stance towards the Joker is all a big load of crap.
ReplyDeleteI will never not give Ledger's performance all the accolades it deserves. He was undeniably phenomenal!
However what I've found with every reincarnation of the character so far, in any visual medium is that it's always been a good representation.
Cesar Romero was really good for the goofy, over the top, cartoony feel of the 60s TV show.
Nicholson gave a marvelous "serious" take on the Romero version to fit the Burton aesthetic.
Hamill has been voicing the Joker with utmost brilliance for the better part of 3 decades.
Ledger gave gravitas to the chraaracter to match Nolan's tone & vibe.
Each Joker has been great in each context.
People coming in anticipating to compare Leto to Ledger are approaching this wrong.
You're right: Leto is an interesting and talented actor. IMO there is no reason to think he won't give a good performance or won't have an interesting take on the Joker, that won't fit this universe, just because "Oh! He's not the same as Ledger!".
He's a different freakin' Joker! It's a different' freakin' movie! Judge him on his own damn merits!
Yeah... it's getting waaaaaaaay too crowded...
ReplyDeleteSo is The Joker the big bad in this film? And Harley Quinn being in the Suicide Squad = possible Joker vs. Harley Quinn battle? :D
ReplyDeleteso you think it's possible to enjoy it?
ReplyDeleteddsasda
ReplyDeleteYeah... and I still don't get why you're so confuse by this?
ReplyDeleteit just gets me angry, DC'd my preferred universe and they're messing it up
ReplyDeleteI hate it but the blonde looks like she is channeling Miley Cyrus and it's not attractive.
ReplyDeleteI was looking forward to this but I think that's a few too many characters to make it flow. I'd rather have the SS tv show.
Well I get being upset by the erratic behaviour DC has been exhibiting. But I think stomping your feet and pouting because they're undecided and have been shifting characters and royalties is pointless. They'll do what they'll do.
ReplyDeleteSaw the photo on Twitter be referred to as them 'going full Hot Topic' and lord is it true. Maybe they will look better in motion ;/
ReplyDeleteyeah i guess that's true, i guess i just have to deal with it
ReplyDeleteThis looks awful,no offense!
ReplyDeleteNot loving it... don't completely hate it either...
ReplyDeleteWait do you mean the DC multiverse, or the Flarrowverse?
ReplyDeletewell they're restricting the Flarrowverse so the DC Multiverse
ReplyDeleteThe flarrowverse is a part of the dc multiverse. It's a shared universe in the sense that Arrow, the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are all connected. Like the MCU.
ReplyDeleteso they ARE connected in SOME way to the Movie Universe, so they shouldn't be restricted right?
ReplyDeleteI thought tgey would go for a more naked Deadshot, I'm quite surprised WS has so many clothes and layers on.
ReplyDeleteThe group shot looks silly as they look like comic characters. Someone really has to go and talk to their marketing department, total flop.
So many things going on that picture dont like it but i like it at the same time
ReplyDeleteHmm. A movie based on a comic book where it's characters look like comic characters. Hmm... that's just weird.
ReplyDeleteThey look like comic characters in a unflattering way. The picture looks poorly made and randomly thrown together.
ReplyDeleteSo is Katana off the table for Arrow also?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought when I saw the picture, I remember someone hinting at DC possibly cutting another character and everyone guessed Waller/Slade. Guess Katana and Maseo are going to kill each other next wednesday?
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'm very disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI'm not loving this. Idk what to think of Harley either. She looks like a waitress in the 50s that should be on roller skates serving me a burger, fries, and cherry coke. Smh. (but i don't hate it completely) Otoh I'm really holding out hope for her performance. I'm BEGGING for her to get this down packed.
ReplyDeleteQuite disappointed. They look like puppets. They need a lot more flow and energy.
ReplyDeleteBut doubt we get anything good till they release a promo by the end of the year.
"Doubt we get anything good til they release a promo" IF that!!! I'm not liking any of it. And i'm just holding out for a trailer at this point. And HQ is my all time favorite female DC character, i'm really just holding out for her now. And only her.
ReplyDeleteThe casting for the movie is quite random, it feels like they went for big names and some others to incorporate into the budget.
ReplyDeleteI'm not to familiar with HQ but I like what I know about her. Now sure how Maggie will portray her.
The casting is one of my big issues, from the beginning. The only one i'm happy about is Viola Davis. I was rooting for her to be Waller. (the other choices hell no) And was glad she got the part. But i hate the casting!! And NO ONE knows how this Maggie chick will portray her. But Hell she's got a lot of homework to do. So i hope she's been studying her ass off. HQ is a HUGE, HUGE, character, and if she f*cks this up, she's going to get hate...forever.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy for Viola to get the part.i just hope there will be a strong distinction between Waller and A. Keating, 2 different kinds of bossy.
ReplyDeleteI watched Maggie only in tWoWS and don't even know what I think of her. Did U watch Focus? She has a huge role to play and besides her performance the writing has to be spot on.
Did HQ get a live action portrayal besides in the BoP show? I wrote an Arrow fanfic involving Thea, Diana Prince and HQ on fanfiction.net, it's called Amazon.
No. They're connected in the sense that they're all part of the multiverse but the universes are separate.
ReplyDeleteWaller will knock it out of the park. I have no worries on her part. I did not see Focus did not want to. No HQ has not...again this is her THEATRICAL DEBUT. BOP does not count in the list bit. And i will take a look at it, AFTER the season is over. = )
ReplyDeleteI understood Ur statement about the theatrical debut, I meant TV, besides BoP. Bit surprised ahe didn't get one during the 90s Batman movies.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to wait and see how they'll execute the movie. Maybe DC surprises us.
No. Not TV either. Like Batman/Batman related work, it does not work on the small screen.
ReplyDelete"Maybe DC surprises us" Hahaha i won't hold my breath. But we'll see. I'll wait for a trailer.
Others don't seem to like it, but I think Harley looks great!
ReplyDeleteHer choker says "puddin"!
With the exception of Harley, Deadshot, and Croc, I've never heard of the rest.
I'm sticking to my guns on Ksenia Solo (Kenzi/Lost Girl) or Gillian Jacobs (Britta/Community) being cast as Harley Quin. These "Hollywood castings" are not even close................just ask Maggie Q! Nobody 4 NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteDeadshot looks okay too, I guess...
ReplyDeleteI haven't been whoa-d by any of the visuals so far though.
I want this movie to be good sooooo badly...
ReplyDeleteand now Bronze Tiger is off the table as well
ReplyDeleteWho is Common playing again?
ReplyDeleteWith the size of this cast, I keep on forgetting who is who mostly...
WOW!!! Everything about that trailer was freaking amazing including that awesome song choice. Margot is already the perfect choice for Harley (can I marry her already?) and Batman on top of the Jokermobile and Jared as the Joker has me squealing like a little girl. Can it be 2016 already?!
ReplyDeleteGreat trailer.
ReplyDeleteThe SS trailer is better than the BvS trailer. But god, Will Smith is Sooo out of place. He's annoying as shit in this trailer. They seriously should've kept Michael Rowe in my damn universe or given him the role in this movie. smh bastards.
ReplyDeleteWhy is that anyway? I mean i LOVE Will Smith but he's not Deashot, like you Michael Rowe is Deadshot, they should've never gotten rid of the Arrowverse version of the Squad
ReplyDeleteI knew I wasn't the only one who thought SS trailer was better than BvS.
ReplyDelete
