9th November 2016 - Tom Holland Reveals He Has A 6 Film Contract
It’s no secret that when an actor takes on a major role with the likes of Marvel Studios that they sign an extensive contract for the foreseeable future. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man himself Tom Holland was asked about his deal for playing the wall crawler and replied:
“They give you options, and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers. I’m unclear as to which movies, though. I do know I have three Spider-Man movies and three solo movies contracted. But if you have another movie, Marvel is so good at working around it. They’re very respectful of your life, really. They understand that you have to work on other movies, and they try and fix it up so you can work around each other.”
It’s unclear what Holland means by “three solo movies.” It could entail appearances in movies starring other Marvel heroes or it could mean appearances in group films like Avengers: Infinity War. We’ve reached out to Sony Pictures for clarification on the matter and will update.

SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING FOOTAGE WAS THE BESST. SUPER FUNNY ENDED WITH THE VULTURE! #MarvelSDCC
— Ryan Penagos (@AgentM) July 24, 2016
Tony Revolori, who has recently appeared in The 5th Wave and Dope, and starred in The Grand Budapest Hotel as the lovable Zero, was already confirmed as appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but his role was unknown. At the Marvel Studios panel at SDCC, however, Revolori's character was confirmed in the footage shown.
The footage was an entire scene, set at Midtown High, where Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, attends school. Other previously confirmed castmates Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, and Zendaya also appeared in the trailer. In the scene, we saw a typical day of high school for Peter, as he went from class to class, ate lunch in the cafeteria, and dealt with the problems of being a high schooler who is also a superhero.
In his science class, Peter is goofing off, watching a video on youtube of Spider-Man teaming up with Iron Man and War Machine to take down Giant Man at the airport in Germany, as seen in Captain America: Civil War. The teacher calls first on Flash Thompson to answer a question - and that's when Revolori speaks up. Yes, he's Flash, a traditionally (in the comics) white character whose only real defining characteristic is that he's a jerk/bully to Peter, yet ironically idolizes Spider-Man.

20th May 2016 - Michael Keaton in Final Negotiations Again to Join Cast
Batman may be facing off against Spider-Man after all.
Back in April, Michael Keaton was in early talks to play the unnamed villain in Sony and Marvel’s upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, but those talks petered out, and it looked like Keaton wouldn’t be joining the Marvel family after all. Now, EW has confirmed that Keaton is back on board, and he’s in final negotiations to join the project.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, and there’s no word about which of Spider-Man’s nemeses Keaton may play, but if he joins Homecoming, he’ll star alongside Tom Holland, who made his debut as Spider-Man in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.

21st April - Robert Downey Jr. Joins Cast, Michael Keaton Drops Out
Robert Downey Jr., who plays the red-and-gold-armored Marvel character, has closed a deal to join the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel and Sony’s reboot of the web-crawling superhero, sources tell THR.
Tom Holland will star as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and is making his debut as the character in Civil War (and already garnering praise for his take on the role).
The movie establishes a key relationship between Tony Stark/Iron Man and Parker, and Homecoming will continue that thread.
as Michael Keaton, who was being courted to play the villain in the pic, has fallen out of early talks and won’t be a part of the project. That had been a juicy idea as it would have put the onetime Batman star in a Spidey movie, but we’re told this is not happening and the search continues to fill the role.

16th April 2016 - Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori join cast
EXCLUSIVE: Lobby Boy has checked into the Spider-Man ensemble. Up-and-coming young actor Tony Revolori, who played Ralph Fiennes’ sidekick in the Wes Anderson-directed Grand Budapest Hotel, is joining Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The Sony Pictures film is winding toward a production start for a July 7, 2017, release with Jon Watts directing and Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal producing.
Revolori’s will play Peter Parker’s nemesis/enemy at high school but isn’t a villain. Rumors cropped up this week that Michael Keaton is considering joining the film in the bad-guy role, but that seems early days. Deadline revealed that Zendaya also is playing one of Parker’s school chums, and Marisa Tomei is playing Aunt May.

“One Life to Live” star Laura Harrier has landed a significant role in Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.

“I can’t talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much,” he tells us. “We’re still writing the story…we haven’t finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows.”

4th August 2015 - Rumor - To Adapt Kraven's Last Hunt
With Vacation writers John Francis Daly and Johnathan Goldstein officially hired to write the next Spider-Man standalone film for Marvel and Sony, development on the project is currently underway.
So who might the bad guy be in the film?
Well, my sources within Sony alerted me to something VERY interesting. Last week, Karen Moy, the Vice President of Creative Affairs over at Sony (Ms. Moy has run the story department at Sony for almost twenty years) purchased a copy of Kraven's Last Hunt trade paperback on Amazon.
At first I brushed it off and asked my sources why would she have to buy a copy? Wouldn't Marvel just send a copy over to the Sony story department for their research purposes? Well folks, you're not going to believe this, but Marvel is THAT insanely cheap. The Sony folks had to buy their own copy. Unbelievable.
But here is the kicker. I did some additional sleuthing and a quick search of Karen Moy on the leaked Sony emails database over on Wikileaks reveals that she has previously made book purchases on Amazon for her former boss Amy Pascal. In my experience, where there is smoke there is fire.
This can't be a coincidence. Why would the head of the story department buy a trade paperback about one of Spider-Man's greatest foes for anything OTHER than research purposes? It's safe to say Sony is looking into the possibility of Kraven as their bad guy.

30th June 2015 - Villain Hasn't Been In A Movie Before
But enough about the soap opera - we all know what’s going to sell a Spider-Man movie, and that’s the bad guy and the action. We’ve had five Spidey movies with eight villains, including three iterations of the Green Goblin/Hobgoblin. Is the next Spider-Man movie going to be bringing back familiar villains?
Feige says that Spidey has a deep bench of rogues. “That’s the advantage,” he told me. “Right now we’re interested in seeing villains we haven’t seen before.”
So no Green Goblin this time around (although don’t be shocked if Harry and Norman Osborn show up). Could it finally be The Vulture’s time to shine? Or will there be a Kraven the Hunter or a Mysterio or a Molten Man in our cinematic future? I’d love to see Spider-Slayers, or maybe the Chameleon teaming up with a villain who offers more of a physical threat.

23rd June 2015 - Tom Holland announced as the new Spider-Man
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of "Cop Car," the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.
Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director. The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in "The Impossible," “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming "In the Heart of the Sea," and by a series of complex screen tests. Following Marvel’s tradition of working with the brightest next wave of directors, Watts also went through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio, before winning the job.
Commenting on the announcement, Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group Chairman, said, “It’s a big day here at Sony. Kevin, Amy and their teams have done an incredible job. The Marvel process is very thorough, and that’s why their results are so outstanding. I’m confident Spider-Man will be no exception. I’ve worked with a number of up-and-coming directors who have gone on to be superstars and believe that Jon is just such an outstanding talent. For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.”
Feige commented, “As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life. We spent a lot of time with Jon and find his take and work inspiring.”
Pascal added, “Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world. With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Sony Pictures will finance and release worldwide the next installment of the $4 billion Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017, in a film co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the Web-Slinger.
Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.

14th June 2015 - Latest Casting News
Thanks to Josh for the heads up.
Today The Wrap's Jeff Sneider reported that the Spider-Man casting shortlist is down to Tom Holland, Matthew Lintz and Charlie Plummer. The site claims that the delay in casting comes down to Sony and Marvel butting heads over which kid is right.
My Sony sources were surprised by that bit of info. According to folks close to the situation there are no heads butting but rather everybody is exhibiting a lot of caution. This is major casting that they can't screw up, and they want the third time they cast Peter Parker to be the charm. It's been an agonizing process for this reason.
What's more, my sources tell me that the shortlist is actually two actors: Tom Holland and Charlie Rowe, whom The Wrap didn't name. Rowe is also an English actor, and he was in The Golden Compass as a child as well as Never Let Me Go. He certainly has the right look, and I understand he has the chops.

13th June 2015 - Asa Butterfield No Longer In The Running To Star
It sounds like one of the frontrunners for the role of Spider-Man is no longer under consideration to star in the MCU reboot.
TheWrap's film reporter Jeff Sneider appeared on the Meet the Movie Press podcast this week during which time he claimed that Ender's Game star Asa Butterfield -- once thought to be the contender to beat -- is not one of the three finalists for the title role.
Sneider said that he's been told the three contenders as of right now are Tom Holland (How I Live Now), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire), and Matthew Lintz (Pixels). Sneider claims that Marvel's pick is Charlie Plummer, while Sony likes Tom Holland, meaning that Marvel and Sony are "at odds" over who should portray the web-slinger.

3rd June 2015 - Actor Shortlist Reduced To 2 + Director Shortlist Revealed
As Sony Pictures preps The Dark Tower (talks are starting with Nikolaj Arcel to direct) and the Paul Feig-directed Ghostbusters as new franchises, and prepares to compete to re-up for the right to keep making James Bond movies when its deal expires after the upcoming Spectre (as our sister publication Variety uncovered), the studio is also getting close to untangling the web of intrigue over the next iteration of Spider-Man. It’s down to the wire, both on the choice of the actor who’ll play Peter Parker — Asa Butterfield and Tom Holland are the frontrunners though Matt Lintz and Charlie Rowe also made strong impressions — and also on the filmmaker who’ll steer a multi-picture arc that takes the protagonist through high school.
After a long vetting process, Sony Pictures and Marvel are zeroed in on the favorites, St Vincent helmer Ted Melfi and Warm Bodies’ Jonathan Levine. Still in contention are John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein, the director-writers of the updated version of John Hughes’ Vacation.

31st May 2015 - Actors Who Had A Screen-Test Revealed
According to sources, six teenage boys tested for the highly sought-after role in Captain America: Civil War and follow-up films, one of the biggest "gets" for a young actor in the film business.
Tom Holland, who appeared as one of Naomi Watts' sons in the acclaimed tsunami drama The Impossible, and Asa Butterfield, the child star from Hugo and Ender's Game, were the best known of the contenders. The other four hopefuls included: Judah Lewis (a relative newbie who will be seen in the Jean Marc-Vallee's fall drama Demolition), Matthew Lintz (who will be seen with Adam Sandler in this summer's Pixels), Charlie Plummer (who had a recurring gig on Boardwalk Empire) and Charlie Rowe (a British actor who appeared on Fox's short-lived Red Band Society).

15th May 2015 - Asa Butterfield In Negotiations For Lead Role
We've been sitting on this information since Friday but can confirm now, that his reps and Marvel are under negotiations. Its all about formalities now and then an official announcement from Marvel will follow shortly.
We've known to be on the lookout for the many names on the various "short lists" that have come out over the past months as the potential Spider-Men have been whittled down to Butterfield.
Butterfield will presumably make his first appearance in Civil War next May followed by a solo Spider-Man movie with Sony and MCU characters on July 28th 2017. Rumors have Sony and Marvel planning to strike while the Spider-Man iron is hot beyond those two announced releases, but confirmable details are not available at this time.

12th February 2015 - Dylan O'Brien And Logan Lerman Being Considered For Lead Role
Sony is looking to a few fresh faces to portray a much younger Spider-Man in their Marvel Studios-sanctioned new take on the character.

The studio has reportedly not yet reached out to them. A new director is also needed to replace The Amazing Spider-Man films' Marc Webb, and presumably this new helmer will participate in the casting of the film.
The new Peter Parker will go back to "Spidey’s roots and put the character back in high school," and the web-slinging superhero will now "spend more time in the setting and explore his awkward relationship with other students while fighting crime out of the classroom."

Wow subtle title.
ReplyDeleteThe new Avenger??? Hmmm not really caught up by it. It has something to it but I think a little pretentious. But lets see, they need an amazing casting here.
ReplyDeleteI kinda like it. Better than nothing and not too strange. A bit easy, but it works for me :)
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they drop this franchise altogether?
ReplyDeleteBecause Spider-Man is the biggest Marvel character, huge to the Civil War storyline and is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteBut how many times can we see a young version of Peter?I'm so tired of seeing his origin SL-Have u seen the shortlist? All of them look like children!
ReplyDeleteWell they technically should if you're going for a teen Peter.
ReplyDeleteExactly. What i'm saying is that what is the problem with making the movie with the adult version? Why reboot the franchise again and again? If there nothing worth showing?(I don't know this answer since i'm not a comic book fan).
ReplyDeleteIt is not a complete reboot. They already said they won't do a film about his origin.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the shortlist who all look like 12,i'm not sure how that's even remotely possible.
ReplyDeleteWell, he could have his powers since a few years and already met some enemies like octopus or the Green Goblin
ReplyDeleteThat would be a better idea.
ReplyDeleteThere is. But they want a young kid.
ReplyDeleteI'm bit annoyed about this new movie franchise as well, even more after the shortlist I really hope that is wrong. They probably want to grow him out and over do him over the curse of 10 years, so they are fishing for younger.
ReplyDeleteReally don't know what to expect here.
I quite like the title, it tells the general audiences that Spidey is part of the MCU now.
ReplyDeleteCan they please give us an older SpiderMan because I'm tired of the teenage one...
ReplyDeleteUnless they find a very good Peter Parker material, I'm not interested. And why does he have to be a teenager? It sucks.
ReplyDeleteI guess "Spider-man: The Twelfth Avenger" or "The Avenging Spider-man" didn't have the same cache.
ReplyDeleteProduction reports? I don't think the movie is anywhere close to production...
ReplyDeleteNot that I don't trust the great people here at SpoilerTV, but the movie doesn't come out until mid-2017...
There are a couple of steps in production. They meant probably the preproduction, prepping the story, overall road they wanna go with this movie and possible follow ups etc etc.
ReplyDeleteAnd it isn't unprecedented since we have had "The First Avenger" subtitle.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge Spidey fan and I don't think he is as important as some people do BUT I do think he has one of the coolest rogues galleries. Having access to his villains in the MCU is going to be pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteUgh... does EVERYONE have to be an Avenger??
ReplyDeleteI was a huge Spidey fan and pretty excited about Spidey coming back to marvel but now we have him I'm absolutely pissed off!!
ReplyDeleteThey have moved inhumans by almost a year
I'm kinda glad we don't have xmen and ff4 or we never would have got gotg, inhumans or black panther.
the title is only rumored by Latino Review, not confirmed at all.
ReplyDeletekind of a predictable tittle :S
ReplyDeleteWe got the title as we indicated from a Production report
ReplyDeleteIt's the same place we got the Fear the Walking Dead spinoff title months before it was officially announced by anyone else :)
ReplyDeletebecause everyone loves him?
ReplyDeletethey have people everywhere. They see all, they know all. carefull the poeple of Spoilertv is watching
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure... I feel it's a bit "aggressive" giving it that title.
ReplyDeleteAh, okay. Again, love you guys!
ReplyDeleteI like it. Setting the record straight that this is a reboot for people who don't know he's coming to Marvel and makes them want to watch it (or a must-see) even if it is the 3rd Spider-Man in just 10 years, cause now it's Marvel/Avengers.
ReplyDeletePREDICTION: depending on the trailers, reviews and what other Avengers are in the film, I think it could be the #1 spidey movie (in domestic and worldwide Box Office), beating Spider-Man's (2002) 403mil domestic (and also doubling TASM2's 203mil), and beating Spider-Man 3's 890mil worldwide.
let's hope that's just a working title
ReplyDeleteBlame marvel for not letting sony put the amazing spiderman franchise into MCU it would saved lot money plus Andrew Garfield is untouched in he performance as Peter Parker/Spider-man.
ReplyDeleteThe new Reboot will flop then Marvel will hire back Andrew Garfield make proper spider film The Amazing Spider-man 3 Rise of the Sinister of six like they originally planned and put trilogy into MCU.
ReplyDeleteWell all marvel heroes are avengers even x men and fantastic four too.
ReplyDeleteShame marvel duped Andrew Garfield for some kid hope it flops sick seeing spiderman 1 third time
ReplyDeleteDoubt that. They will just stop shooting and make the new SM appear only in the Avenger movies.
ReplyDeleteI believe that is meant to be the idea. He's meant to already have his powers but still be early in his career. So when the movie picks up, he's probably had his powers for maybe...6 months roughly? In that time he's probably met a couple of his villains already.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's bad. I just think it's not even trying to pretend to be not subtle about Spider-Man's role in the MCU. I think it's an okay title.
ReplyDeleteHe originally became Spiderman when he was 15 years old in the comics. It make sense that in any origin story, he would be a teen. That being said -- I am pretty sure he was late 20s when he joined the Avengers in the comics, so the title confuses me.
ReplyDeleteAsa Butterfield is a great actor but why did they have to go through the 'a dorky teen finds superpowers' routine all over again? why can't they just move on and have a spidey in his 20s kicking ass and being annoyed with the avengers creating havoc in his city?
ReplyDeleteI don't see those boys fit the role, but lets have faith in the Marvel people and their work.
ReplyDeleteI thought that's what they wee planning - leaving the Andrew Garfield stuff as having happened and having this one set him up for joining the Avengers.... we really don't need a third origin movie in the space of 15 years.
ReplyDeletegfhgfhff
ReplyDeleteNo this one is completely new and unrelated to the Andrew Garfield stuff. However they are apparently skipping his origin entirely. By the time we see him in the solo Spider-Man movie he is already meant to have his powers and be early in his career. It's unknown if he'll have his powers in Civil War already.
ReplyDeleteThey are going to cast Asa Butterfield, aren't they? He looks like he is 14.
ReplyDeleteThat will just confuse people, they'll wonder where Garfield's spidey went.
ReplyDeleteWow both English actors although I don't know how a 15 year old spiderman will work and I hate how they have pushed movies I've been waiting for but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteTom Hiolland looks like the part. But alot buzz is coming for Asa Butterfield tho i woul've love they made an older spiderman that already knows his bussiness
ReplyDeleteThey will do anything for the movie not to flop tho i doubt it will
ReplyDeleteI fear so.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, he looks 18 to me.
ReplyDeleteThey look closer to 18 to me.
ReplyDeleteNot at all. Garfield was HORRIBLE!
ReplyDeleteOmg....they need to go back to the drawing board with regards to the selection of actors for the role. Neither will do. Esp if they are not going to do an origins story. THEY ARE TOOOO YOUNG!
ReplyDeleteUGH.
Strongly disagree. He finally did Peter Parker the way he was supposed to be portrayed (minus the skateboarding; blame that on the writers).
ReplyDeleteIt was his face, and crazy acting mannerisms that did it for me.
ReplyDeleteRe Asa Butterfield's Casting: I've liked him in the 3 things I have seen him so I'm game.
ReplyDeleteLets seee how he does. He is a great actor.
ReplyDeleteMarvel always get the right actors for the roles, they know what they're doing.
ReplyDeleteI like him as that creepy young Mordred. Can't wait to see him as Peter Parker. Is he gonna be in Civil War?
ReplyDeleteI would so prefer to have a Spider-Man tvseries than Another Movie, he could still appear in team-up Movies and such..but he would work way better in a show!
ReplyDeleteCharlie Rowe would be great,he was fantastic in Red Band :)
ReplyDeleteOh so it's still not a done deal for Asa Butterfield then? The last update made it sound like he was pretty much it...
ReplyDeleteA 15-year-old Peter worked for Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, although they had him graduating from high school in "real time" (i.e. less than three years).
ReplyDeleteI could get on board with Charlie Rowe... too bad he's not one of the frontrunners....
ReplyDeleteNot too happy with who they're eyeing to direct though.
Wow Sweets might direct!
ReplyDeleteGo Asa!
I like Tom Holland
ReplyDeleteCome on Marvel/Sony, you have a perfect Peter Parker right here:
ReplyDeleteIf Sony isn't deferring to Marvel on everything at this point there is no hope for them.
ReplyDeleteI think you should update to the most recent news. Devin Faraci and Variety reporter Justin Kroll (both of which have a more reliable track record) than Sneider are stating that the final candidates are Tom Holland and Charlie Rowe.
ReplyDeleteRead here: http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2015/06/12/these-are-the-spider-man-finalists
And here with Kroll support: https://twitter.com/krolljvar/status/609472954464768000
Thanks for the heads up. It's in the system for the next time DarkUFO updates the post (should be within the next 24 hours).
ReplyDeleteWhy not The Superior Spiderman? or something like that
ReplyDeleteI could totally see Charlie Rowe...
ReplyDeleteI'd be on board with that, but he is too old for what they seem to have in mind right now.
ReplyDeleteThe casting of this is turning into a bit of a nightmare...
ReplyDeleteAt last Spidey is announced!
ReplyDeleteNot bad,looks the part.
ReplyDeleteYh I think I'm gonna pass on this one.
ReplyDeleteNo clue what to think about Tom. Never saw him act. I haven't even overlooked him in a movie.
ReplyDeleteAn actor with a clean slate is a good idea but he really has to nail the role. We'll see I hope his CA appearence will be effective enough to give us a first glimpse at what the movie will look like.
He was my second choice. he will do good. But i still think they should've gone with an older spiderman
ReplyDeleteI already don't like Spider-Man and this does not help. This is as bad as Ben Affleck playing Batman.
ReplyDeleteMan, I liked Asa Butterfield choice so much better
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for Tom. He's not well known yet (I haven't seen him act) but if Marvel's choosing him, he can't possibly be horrible.
ReplyDeleteAlright kid, let's see whatcha got. Make us proud.
ReplyDeleteRe Tom Holland: Haven't seen him in anything I don't think so I'm gonna go with "Meh..."
ReplyDeleteNew Villain? 0.o Wow! Stunned.
ReplyDeleteI'm good with a brand new villain... Oh! Maybe Carnage!? Too dark? Is there a rights issue with him?
ReplyDeleteMarisa Tomei could be a reason for watching this movie.
ReplyDeletebut she's only 50.
ReplyDeleteDamnit, the Spidey cast is always getting younger -,-
First of she is 50!?!?!!? Had no clue she was that old.
ReplyDeleteSecond of with Spidey look like her stopped wearing diapers yesterday not really surprised they are going for younger.
Marisa Tomei as Aunt May? That's crazy because Aunt May isn't supposed to have superpowers and looking that good at 50 years old is most certainly a superpower.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?? Marisa Tome I cast as Aunt May??? That doesn't make a lick of sense. Do what you will with Peter but please let's not make way more hotter/younger than she's supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteAll of this sounds great. But when are they casting Kiernan Shipka as (Ultimate)-Gwen?
ReplyDeleteHating it. The New Avenger sounded better.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular Spider-Man I like it
ReplyDeleteNext time: "Gorgeous Spider-Man"...
ReplyDeleteThe new title is awful. Makes it sound like a show on Cartoon Network.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular Spectacular Spider-Man Man I miss that Show.
ReplyDeleteUgh! They should've went with Ultimate Spider-Man!!
ReplyDeleteThe Spectacular Spider-man are issues from him Comic Book series, you know that right? I still say they should've went with Ultimate.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great show, the animated series' nowadays suck IMO. Young Justice and Legend of Korra were the last good ones.
ReplyDeleteI actually liked the "Spectacular" until you mentioned this! Yeah "Ultimate" would have been good.
ReplyDeleteStill, the title reminds me of the great animated series of the same name.
No. Reminds me of that show. And Spectacular Spider-Man sounds more fun and like the awesomeness that was The Spectacular Spider-Man.
ReplyDeleteIt's a an actual comic book title. And also a really good animated series.
ReplyDeleteMeh. But he's not. He's what 16 years-old in this? Plus reminds me of that awful show The Ultimate Spider-Man and the terribleness that is Drake Bell as Peter Parker.
ReplyDeleteHow? The kid's excellent and Affleck himself has come a long way as an actor, and has given some great performances as of late.
ReplyDeleteNo he isn't. But it's still the title from the series. It's not like they're pulling names out of a hat. That's my point. I'd still prefer Ultimate or Spectacular. Spectacular is so blah.
ReplyDeleteLol!!
ReplyDeleteAgain we differ on our likeness for the titles. Lol
ReplyDeleteAnd Ultimate is basically bragging and weird. He doesn't sound awe inspiring or cool.
ReplyDeleteLol true. Ultimate feels ilke a title you need to work up towards. Like one for a second movie or third.
ReplyDeleteI THINK it sounds cool and more heroic.
ReplyDeleteIt's just personal preference. I like Ben Affleck as a person and can watch him do live interviews, fundraisers, talk shows etc...but I do not like him as an actor. The only two roles I have been able to get through an entire movie with him were Good Will Hunting and Armageddon.
ReplyDeleteAs for Holland, I've never seen him act so I can't judge but from his roles, going by reviews on his performance in Wolf Hall, he must be a fantastic actor. He just looks 12 to me, not 19 and he is small. That is not a bash against him, just not what I see when I think of Spiderman.
As for Spiderman himself, he has always been my least favorite comic character. I haven't seen any of the last few movies and doubt I'll see this one. I don't have plans to see Batman Vs Superman either but I do plan to see Suicide Squad.
SN- Ryan Reynolds is another one that I don't like so I doubt I'll go see Deadpool.
Don't make'em like that anymore. Really fun show.
ReplyDeleteHe was fantastic in Argo, Gone Girl and The Town and he seems to be quite committed to the role so I gotta give him some serious benefit. It's actually Batman V. Superman (fittingly the whole V means and, because it's also a team up movie). Reynolds will be terrific as Deadpool of that I have no doubt.
ReplyDeleteI can't agree on heroic (since it basically means best) and doesn't really imply any inherently higher standard of good. At least he's not the Superior Spider-Man though.
ReplyDeleteHope the Kraven rumors are false. I'd rather see Carnage or Mysterio. They'd be more visually interesting than Kraven.
ReplyDeleteThat's where the preference comes in. I heard such great things about Gone Girl but I couldn't even get through the movie watching him. I skipped to the end to watch the last half hour everyone was talking about. I'm sure he'll do great for BvS and the movie will do great at the box office. Also agree on Deadpool. I'm sure Reynolds and the movie will do great and I hope they do. I love when my comics do well on TV and the Box Office even when they're not favorites. I root for them. These few are just not for me.
ReplyDeleteBoy! can i eat??? Lemme lone!!! = p
ReplyDeleteI like it. It's manly. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's understandable. And Suicide Squad does look pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteWait so lol what if I combined amazing, ultimate and spectacular into one title. The Amazingly Spectacular Ultimate Spider-Man. Even more manly?
ReplyDeleteSo gay. Lmaoooo, I would squirmmmmmm at that. Lol hahahaha
ReplyDeleteHey, did you get your free slushy as 7/11??? Today's free slushy day!!! I just got mine. (Cherry and Pina colada) They're' also doing hot dogs for $1.
ReplyDeleteEh, in the ultimate comics, Aunt May is only in her very late 40's at the start. It actually ended up being one of the better versions of Aunt May.
ReplyDeletePeter was bitten at 15 yrs old. Ben was 65 at that time. May is close to if not exact to Ben's age, she should be NO less than 60, in this movie.
ReplyDeleteThat's only in the 616 universe.
ReplyDeleteThey purposely made Aunt May younger in the 1610 universe (Ultimate) so she could be the 'cool' aunt. It also allowed Aunt May to get more involved in stuff (because she was younger she could actually go out and do things, rather then always looking like she could die at any second).
In the ultimate universe, aunt May was a teenager in the 1960's. The 'present day story' takes place in the early 2000's. Putting her at late 40's (at most, very early 50's).
But they're not doing the ultimate universe, are they? No. they're doing Spectacular, so she'd be slightly younger, but she'd still be old. Either way, i STILL don't like it. And i'm extremely turned off by this casting in particular.
ReplyDeleteMuch of the MCU has been based on the Ultimate universe despite the names used. The same thing is being done here. Spider-Man is being based on the Ultimate Universe version (Peter is younger at 15 instead of 17 like in the regular universe, Aunt May is in her late 40's rather then 60's, ect).
ReplyDeleteEven other characters have had aspects pulled heavily from the Ultimate universe.
- Pretty much everything to do with the MCU Hawkeye and Nick Fury is from Ultimate (costume, family, ties to SHIELD, ect)
- The Chitauri and Loki are what brings the Avengers/Ultimates together
Lance Sweets from Bones might write the movie?! AWESOME!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose potential writers have written a lot of terrible comedies, hmm doesn't fill me with confidence.
ReplyDeleteAww JFD. I'd support him in all things. My favorite psych.
ReplyDelete
