ReplyDeleteI hated his character in TW too (it was the main reason I hated him in season 1) and I agree that he's not the best actor but his character has grown a lot on Arrow especially in the last episode.

Willa overacts half the time. Yeah, I like stephen amell but everytime he is supposed to be angry, which is most of the time, he has this weird expression on face that makes it seem a bit fake. However, he is indeed a very good actor

Willa overacts all the time especially when she's angry and she clenches her jaw (that REALLY annoys me). I agree sometimes Stephen gets a weird look on his face when he's angry. I remember the scene when he saw Malcolm for the first time in 3x04 felt a little off to me, but other than that he's very talented so we can forgive him for that and hope he will stop being angry soon lol

ReplyDeleteStephen tweeted "good-byes are hard even when scripted" to which Colon replied "it was the hardest emotional working day ever" to which fans assumed someone was going to die in 3x19.
In a interview after the fact Stephen said NO one was dying it was just a highly emotionally charged goodbye scene with a fellow cast member that everyone took super hard.
So unless I have missed something there is NO death coming just a farewell.
Most likely Roy will end up going to jail for killing that cop or will go on the run and end up leaving Arrow ... possibly even ending up as one of the spin-off characters join Ray.
I enjoyed how the season started but later on it was inconsistent and I didn't like the way they told their story. Than I liked the Oliverless TA until he come back and that whole Malcolm mess.

After that upcoming hook up I doubt she'll go naywhere except on a crossover event.

1.They have no idea what to do with this malcolm character.One episode,he's the guy who's misunderstood & trying to do some good-The next episode,he's the evil mastermind manipulating everyone!

ReplyDelete2&3. Felicity is to much Olicity at the moment. Her flashback episode was AWFUL! And her outbreaks just look the same weak after weak. Olicity is starting to get to that annoying Delena level, me no likey!
4. Hong Kong is such a disappointment. Can't even describe it. We didn't even learn how he learned to pilot. I like Katana but Maseo is to much.
5. Thea's path was fine but that girl needs to get those facial expressions under control.
6. Oliver is all over the place. I hope after this crisis he'll get normal again.
7. I'm a BR fan but Ray is just freaking awful! Can't even mention it.
8. I desperately wanted Lance to get an arc but this was a push over the edge. I assume things will escalate next week and he'll calm down properly.
9. Maseo has to come to his senses and go do tatsu and take Roy to HK.
It is sad where the show went after 2 very good episodes at the start of the season. Especially Sara which was such emotional that I can't even remember it without tearing up.
I know this is one controversial statement but they never should'v started the season by killing Sara IMO.I like katana,she's bad-ass.I used to like Malcolm a lot in season 2 & i love john Barrowman but his character now needs some serious revamping.

ReplyDeleteKatana is seriously underused. Wouldn't mind her to join Oliver to Russia and teach him a couple of moves.
I think Sara was bound to die, but they should've wait till midseason. So Laurel's transition would also feel much smoother and the overall would be much easier. And they could compress much more action into the remaining season.
If you had asked me the beginning of this season I would have said kill Roy. But maybe by sidelining him (he hardly had any lines this season) he kind of grew on me. I like Oliver's relationship with him. Kind of younger brother thing. One thing I am completely against is Thea/Roy relationship. It takes away from both characters.
ReplyDeleteRila Fukushima who is playing Katana is doing a pilot for some show next fall. So maybe we will not get Katana again after this season. I love her. I had high hopes for Katana and Wild Cat. *sigh*

They should have given us at least two or three episodes for us to connect with Sara and what she is working on before killing her. IMO it is not Malcolm that needs revamping it is Oliver's attitude towards him that needs immediate correction. By letting him walk away in episode 4 they completely made Oliver look dumb.

ReplyDeleteThat is a mistake made by director and editor. MG even accepted their mistake about that scene. That scene cannot be used as an example to explain Oliver/Roy relationship. I think that relationship has grown this season. But if we have to loose one regular this season I would take Roy over everyone else too.
ReplyDeleteIts been so many episodes after that but I am unable to get over that dumb scene when Malcolm said No prison can hold me and Oliver just let him go. That scene embodies all my frustration for season 3.

ReplyDeleteOr they could consolidate the whole thing into three episodes and spread it through out the season. There was hardly anything to show on Hong Kong flash backs this season. ARGUS makes Maseo and Tatsu Oliver's handler, they are given the task of getting Alpha and Omega from Chen na Wei. Basically that is all that happened. What was the need for Shado twin? It is so boring.

ReplyDeleteNot sure at all. That was a prediction from my side. Stephen said one character who originated on Arrow will become a revolving character on all three shows. It could be anyone. Roy, Thea, Laurel, Lyla etc.

ReplyDeleteI am tired of complaining about Thea's wardrobe. Apparently midriff baring dress gives her an edge *rolls eyes*. But what it does is it makes her look more frail and delicate. She needs jeans, t shirt and some good jacket. I don't mind Willa's acting much except for her betrayed face.
ReplyDeleteThis might sound a little silly but i love that way too much(100 times more than Arrow) for it to be tainted by Roy.Anyone else is fine,especially i would really like to see Laurel there.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 was good because of Manu Bennett and Slade. He was such a huge presence through out the season. If season 2B dragged it is because Slade had less screen time in the present day. Also Sara was present in island and current story line. If this season showed Oliver coming in contact with some league member in the past it would have been so much better.

ReplyDeleteNo. Not silly at all. Why would you want some one you don't like go and sully another show you like. I have the same opinion about Laurel. I like her this season a lot. But she is still my least favorite. So I don't want her on Flash and the new show. But she has a chance too for that role as Sara is there in the new show and she is creating new relationships with Cisco. Also her mother lives in CC. It could very well be her.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking Amanda Waller, but since WB/DC seems to be really touchy feely about all Suicide Squad characters (I think that's why Lyla left ARGUS, tbh) I don't think that's gonna happen. So you have a point there.
ReplyDeleteI think Waller will either die or be gone after this season. If she comes back it will be in 2016 after the SS movie is come and gone. I have a feeling Waller might die this season and Lyla will get the job of ARGUS head where she will be able to do things differently from Waller. Then she can move around cities helping all the heroes with intel and support. Lyla is not sit at home material.

Who Summer Glau? They say she is cursed. LOL. There is a string of shows where she was cast and it got cancelled it seems. I like her. She is not the best actress out there but her actions scenes are great to watch.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you, there are too many fighters on Team Arrow, but not Roy. Roy is too shy, too introverted too be a liaison between shows. Of everyone in Team Arrow Felicity is the better option, since she has a tie with both the Flash and the (ugh) Atom. I would absolutely hate for that to happen, 'cause even if I would love her to be a prominent character I want her to stay on where she is. Also, her abilities are somewhat managed by the people on Star Labs and Ray Palmer but not by anyone on Arrow. So no. She's staying.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind Thea most of the time but since she is getting more screen time I do notice her acting problems. First I noticed the editing of her angry scene on the Island. Frontal scene and you can actually count how many takes this scene was made of. Don't see much of that with Paul, John, SA and Emily. To her defense she was not able to practice a lot.
ReplyDeleteFelicity is the only tech person on Arrow. So she cannot be far away for more than one episode. So no I don't think Felicity is the person. I didn't even think about Lyla until @Sparky mentioned it. Then it made sense.
ReplyDeleteBut I really don't understand how they will manage 5 fighters in one team on Arrow. They couldn't manage four this season and last season. Either some one has to go under cover in HIVE or someone has to leave. A scenario could be Roy going undercover in HIVE. There he can meet Cheshire as she is a member of HIVE in comics.
IMO Mae is a seed planted for later seasons. Still waiting for the guy who tried to buy the earthquake machine and tried to buy the ARGUS list on Corto Maltese.....
ReplyDeleteYou should watch it and the movie too after that. It is a master piece. It will make you sad too when you realize it is only one season long. When you watch it make sure you view it in the correct order and not the way FOX aired it. FOX aired the show out of order.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the flaws in some of her angry scenes with Malcolm in the recent episodes. But I don't mind it as she is usually on point with her expressions and she has some good chemistry with all the cast. The main complaint I have of Willa is her stunt double is clearly visible in her stunt scenes. The directors need to rectify that.
ReplyDeleteEmily also needs to be careful in her angry expressions. Especially that scene where she is sitting and every one is standing when Malcolm visits the lair. I know every one loved that but for me I thought she over acted in that scene.

ReplyDeleteI think that will be for next season or later. Didn't they mention Armitage in those scenes. Armitage is an arms dealer who is the husband of Sandra Hawke, Oliver's baby mama. I am sure those were the seeds for him to come back and threaten Connor later in the series.

ReplyDeleteI'm not familiarized with DC comics, so I know nothing about Roy's journey! But it makes sense. I just think Roy is kind of underdeveloped and not really a great character to be able to jump between shows.
As far as I know Roy in comics after few years of apprenticeship with Oliver has a falling out and go independent and becomes a team member of teen titans. Later he rejoins Oliver. So he could go around helping other teams.
ReplyDeleteBut that is also applicable to Laurel/BC. BC in comics always has a hand in BoP and Justice League. So she could be the one moving around too. That will prevent the clash between Oliver and Laurel. I will give anything for these two to stop being bitchy to each other.

ReplyDeleteHe also could be connected to HIVE but somehow I doubt that. Love that Arrow plants seeds throughout all seasons. So I believe Me I beeing one of them. First I thought it was to reconnect a storyline with Slade, but then there are those rumors about him also beeing off limits.
Don't say that. Slade being off limits makes me sad. With DC's attitude with sharing properties between big screen and small screen and Manu Bennett's dissatisfaction with the way they took the character my dreams of seeing Slade again is looking doomed. :(
ReplyDeleteI don't think they will make Armitage Felicity's dad. He is hinted for the Connor story line for sure. I wonder if the son will pop up next season or in season 5.
I wish Slade back as also. I liked him better as a villain than Malcom (he is a great trickster type character). I saw Manu Benett panel were he complained that also the romantic feelings towards Shado came for him out of nowhere. Honestly the second she was on screen I knew she was going to be the reason for their discord. What did not make sense for me the still insane madness of Slade towards Oliver, hatred of, but it was so over the top for clear thinking Slade Wilson.

Manu Bennett's portrayal of Slade really made that insanity work. I like Malcolm too but the show has failed in selling to me his reasons towards his actions this season. Till season 2 finale I could understand him. Now he is a mess.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. I don't want the kid story line to come up until season 5. At least he will be 10 by then. Also once it comes up I hope Oliver has to send him away for his protection and he can come back once he is 15 or 16. I am not at all a fan of kids on my action based shows. Him being a liability at every turn will get old really fast.
When Grey's finale is in 2 parts it's always big...and heartbreaking! :(
