Aw, Ward. Learn to read the room (unfortunately, this is what being kidnapped and dumped in the woods for five abusive years leads to).
ReplyDeleteNow that this is here, can't wait to see the team shut Ward down! Not gonna get too excited, but I've been waiting for this for a year.
ReplyDeleteMatt: Please tell me you got something on #AgentsofSHIELD.
If you thought seeing the team work with Ward last week was weird, just you wait until tonight's episode. Ward tries to give a heartfelt, rallying speech to the old team right before an op, trying to win them back over with nostalgia...and he gets totally shut down. By everyone. It's hilarious and oh-so-worth the wait!
I don't think he was in the woods for five years? Also, I think some bridges, once burned, can't be rebuilt.
ReplyDeleteI, personally, don't think the team needs to forgive him for his deeds just because he has a sad backstory.
AoS-Ward should stop trying so hard and do the job.It may never be okay for the rest of the team members about what he did.
ReplyDeletePLL-Dark version?PTSD?Bring it on.
The Flash-Thank god the truth finally comes out!
Grey's Anatomy-No one is turning for the so called funeral-What a surprise!
Arrow-I'll kinda miss the Lair!
Both Skye and May have had plenty of emotional trauma in their past as well, somehow they remain functioning decent human beings...
ReplyDeleteHe was in the woods for five years.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's going to take a while for the team to forgive him. He has to work hard to earn it and apologize to them. Redemption isn't supposed to be easy.
I want to see Ward heal because he was abused literally all his life (first by his family and then Garrett). Otherwise, Garrett wins and screw that.
Shutting him down? I think he's lucky nobody on the team through him of the jet mid air.
ReplyDeleteIf he really think that everybody will forget what he did and receive him open arms just because he helped in a mission then he is really delusional. He is all look, we are all back together, feels like the old times. He needs a reality check and hopefully the team gives it to him.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
ReplyDeleteNeither were literally abused all their lives.
ReplyDeleteshe and Alicia will actually be in the same room at the same time, breathing the same air, before Panjabi leaves
ReplyDeleteI will believe that when I see it! Sunday's episode made all the BTS rumors seem completely true, it was pretty embarrassing. But if they manage to get over whatever real life issues they have and actually film a heartfelt scene together that would be incredible acting.
As for AOS, haah screw you Ward.
He was in the wood for a few months and and nothing what happened to him excuse anything he did. He had plenty of chances to change or at least show so kind of regret but he didn't. Now he helps the team on a mission suddenly he expect everybody to forget everything? talk about being delusional.
ReplyDeleteGA- we know that this week is the funeral episode, and none of the notable former cast members who have moved on (Sandra Oh) are expected to return, from what I've heard.
ReplyDelete:(
We got to see Skye's abandonment issues that she's endured for all her life, hell you could argue that was abuse itself (nobody knew about it but it would have been hell).
ReplyDeleteMay went from being a normal agent to being a legend and it cost her everything. It may not have been all her life but it's massive.
Ward isn't a special snowflake whose issues are greater than everyone elses...
By reality check do you mean a swift blow to the head?
ReplyDeleteWhy they need to forgive him? they have all the right to never want to have him on their lives. He brought a lot of pain to them so is completely understandable they don't want him around them. The show runners have yet to show they want to take Ward into redemption ark. He can heal himself away from the people he hurt and doens't want him around.
ReplyDeleteAnything really. A little quake would be nice but i get the feeling nothing will wake him up. 4 shots from Skye hasn't stop him to pursue her so what will?
ReplyDeleteOf course they're not greater than everyone else's. And I'm horrified for May and I'm hope she's able to tell someone what she went through in Bahrain because I want to see her overcome this trauma.
ReplyDeleteI love every single character and I want them to be happy.
But I'd like to see Ward overcome the trauma he's endured his entire life because otherwise, John Garrett wins and I'm not about that.
I know, hey Skye has to demonstrate shehas control doesn't she, maybe Ward could "volunteer" to be the test dummy?
ReplyDeleteI think for him to win however the team will lose. For Fitz and Simmons you re asking them to accept a permant presence of what he did. For Skye he's always going to be one of the causes of her life changing radically (and since she's going to give up one side or the other, losing family either way).
ReplyDeleteSome things you can't forgive no matter what the other sides story is (for example, how will May and Skye move forward if Skye tells her it was an Inhuman that shattered her life?)...
May wouldn't blame Skye for that, and Skye wouldn't blame May for what she had to do in Bahrain. I see no issue there.
ReplyDeleteMay has issues with Gifted, we've seen that before, and she has been struggling with helping May. If she finds out that it was Inhuman's and that Skye's Mother was watching...
ReplyDeleteSkye won't blame May, but I'm betting she's going to feel horrible guilty for what happened and that has the potential to alter the relationship.
Ward was in the woods for six months alone (with Buddy, the dog he loved, his only friend until Garrett murdered him) and then the next flashback we saw was five years later. Pretty clear he was in the woods for five years.
ReplyDeleteAOS needs to either choose to be serious or comedic. In season 1 they were extremely light and comedic with plenty of action and now they are trying to have the best of both worlds and it's not working at all. For me it isn't anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Ward is back but they need to move his story along now, it's getting old.
Oh, I'm sure she'll feel guilty about what happened but I doubt it will alter their relationship.
ReplyDeleteYou can continue to wish that for Ward. He can overcome his problems and start being a better person but doesn't mean the people he strongly affect has to accept him back. I think what they are teasing us is that Ward will take this mission where they are all back together again and impose himself back to the team, like is not big deal, it's all forgiven, they can be all happy together again. It's not how it works in reality. He could have the most genuine intentions and be sorry for everything he did and still he can't expect to be welcomed back. Fitz will be forever affect by what he did. He doesn't need him around to reminde him of that. The other have other reasons as well.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the definitely will. Them shutting him down could seriously be the best part of the episode tonight!
ReplyDeleteIt could still happen. Don't give up hope haha
ReplyDeleteSadly since he's still going to be around by the double episode we know it won't. So at best as I've said test dummy for Skye's demonstration
ReplyDeleteI'd be 100% on board with that.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. He can redeem himself elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI just don't think they need to forgive him. They have every right to rebuff him, especially given his attitude.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I like rogue-Ward. I just don't like the thought of him with the team AT ALL.
Yeah, a rogue Ward playing different sides at different times would be interesting. But forcing the team to take him back is just silly. Even if he did end up as a Consultant I could live with, but I just think it lessens both him and theothers if he's back on the bus.
ReplyDeletePearls before swine, klutzy. These folks are the ones who have been hoping Ward dies since the pilot.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can cite Ward's years in the woods or any of his time with Garrett as to why he's acting this way now. If we look back at the end of last season, Ward was touting his skills to Raina as a master manipulator and "anybody's type." This is a guy acting this way for his own agenda. This is a guy who knows what he's doing to get people to react in a way he wants. If you can't see that, then you're getting played, too. He's not some precious little fuzzy wuzzy. He's the same person he was at the end of last season. Garrett's death didn't change that. The only thing it changed was now Ward manipulates for himself and not for someone else.
ReplyDeletePersonally this gives me hope that Ward will not be back with the team. It sounds like he's about to go in a drastically different direction than where he was at the beginning of season one.
Ward was shaped by his abuse, though. It was recurring over a long period of time and happened during his formative years. That doesn't diminish what other characters have gone through, or what he did to them, but it also isn't something that should be dismissed out of hand.
ReplyDeleteYes but Skye clearly has been shaped by her experiences as well (and when you think about growing up constantly being kicked around and never finding a home, I'd call that abuse as well).
ReplyDeleteThe reality is Ward had options even with Garrett having influenced him, he's choosen this path.
Ward screwed up, a lot. And he can't expect everything that happened to get hand-waved. But he is not going to betray the team again, now that Garrett is gone. And he has skills the team needs. He was only HYDRA in the first place because he was shanghaiied from juvie by John Garrett.
ReplyDeleteNope, well off base there Remember. I found him bland and forgetable but did't want him killed. Once he came out as Hydra his interest level rose significantly, but how the writers are handling him now (along with the blind love he's getting here (To the point of "die Lincoln die!")) has killed of that interest.
ReplyDeleteHe has skills they need, because the writers have purposely removed Bobbi and Hunter at least from the equation. Otherwise no he's got nothing they need. And only truly stupid (or writer fiat) people would trust him again.
ReplyDeleteI think Lincoln would bore Skye shizless in an actual relationship, but I'm not wanting anyone to die, here.
ReplyDeleteYou mean the Bobbi and Hunter who Ward outsmarted at the bus terminal and in Boston? The Bobbi and Hunter who have no knowledge of the inner workings of HYDRA? That Bobbi and Hunter?
ReplyDeleteYou mean the Bobbi that went undercover at Hydra, knew where to find some of their weapon manufacturers was.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where this "Ward is a Super Spy" nonsense is coming from but at this stage it's getting beyond a joke.
ivan has plenty of times, Klutz has said she thinks he's going to die.
ReplyDeleteLincoln has plenty of information about her people that Skye will want to know, I'm fairly sure he could keep her interested. But the writers aren't going to let that happen.
Ward had no good options as far as Fitz and Simmons were concerned. By the time he knew they had stowed away on the Bus, Garret had also known. The pod was supposed to float, not sink. Ward was trying to get Skye out of Puerto Rico when she shot him and decided to follow Raina down to the temple. And Skye already knows Katya was an Inhuman.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you don't want Bobbi and Jemma dead. After all, they volunteered for HYDRA. Grant Ward was only told he was to work for HYDRA four or five years after he was taken from juvie.
ReplyDeleteWard kidnapped her off the bus (nearly getting the rest of the team killed) and taken against her will to a Hydra base. He played more than a passing role in what happened. And I meant telling May that one of her people that shattered her life and that her mother was watching.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the team were only in danger because Whitehall countermanded Ward's order not to shoot. He was sent to get Raina, and that would have happened no matter what.
ReplyDeleteThey worked to bring down Hydra operations and gather intel, they did their job. Ward worked for Hydra, killed for Hydra, hunted Gifted for Hydra, gathered intel for Hydra. If you can't see the difference then that's an issue for you.
ReplyDeleteHow do you square the crap that he gave Skye and May for their "betrayals" when he was knowingly doing vastly worse?
Yes and he got the map that led them to the temple, and he knew damn well that Whitehall was going to giv that order. Note his lack of concern for them then.
ReplyDeleteI truly don't understand the willingness to excuse every single action and the consequences of them that Ward fans have going on.
Lots of people are bounced around foster homes and most of them turn out okay. Few people who suffer the kind of abuse Ward did even make it out alive.
ReplyDeleteIt's just not comparable.
As a young child Ward was physically and psychologically abused to the point that he tried to kill his own family. He was completely broken at this point. That's why Garrett was interested in him in the first place. Being able to take a broken person and build them into an asset is like a dream for someone like Garrett.
I think Ward was torn about what he was doing in S1 and he ABSOLUTELY made the wrong choices and should suffer the consequences of that. However that doesn't do much to progress the character so it becomes about how you can move his story forward without compromising his or anyone else's character.
I think the writers are doing a good job with that. No one wants to work with Ward, the audience is constantly reminded that Ward is not a good guy, and Ward is in a situation where he sees what could have been(basically).
I trust that they'll find a way to continue to use Ward that doesn't ignore his past or how the other characters feel about him. They may even introduce his sister as a way to do this.
I just hope the audience gives them the chance to play it all out.
Again, Ward was only told on the brink of his going to SHIELD Ops Academy that the guy who saved him from prison and became some kind of effed-up father figure to him actually worked for HYDRA. And SHIELD did a lot of killing, hunting Gifted, and gathering intel as well, without HYDRA's help.
ReplyDeleteSexual jealousy played a large role in his getting on Skye about her ex-boyfriend. As for May, the best place to hide is behind outrage.
Oh you've just got to be kidding. I ive up Ward fans aren't rational at all.
ReplyDeleteIt's called not breaking cover. If he did not get Raina and the map, Whitehall would have wanted to know why.
ReplyDeleteWe feel the same way about the haters.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, its reached a new level of delusion with them.
ReplyDeleteActual it's the fanboi's I hate at this stage, as a character I find Rogue Ward the most interesting he's been. I don't like how the writers are giving him a free pass back on though.
ReplyDeleteIt's the blind BS from the fanboi's that redue me interest inthe character.
Reality =/= fanboi view.
ReplyDeleteAnd at that I'm done wasting time having this conversation.
Cristina not being at Derek's funeral? That's bull!
ReplyDeleteYeahhh i can't read any of this. Would've liked some TVD scoop though.
ReplyDeleteWard was the one who knew about Raina tracker because he was inside SHIELD before and i guess he was lucky May is an awesome pilot and that Skye is an inhuman. The whole team could have been killed and he didn't care, he only cared about his obession about the promise he made. Skye was gone too if it wasn't for the fact the diviner didn't affectt
ReplyDeleteed her and lets not talk about how Coulson team arrived the exactly time Whitehall had plans to experiment on Skye. Nevermind, Ward is such a good guy, full of good intentions. No mistakes there.
He's just misunderstood, clearly.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteThey tried to establish that he was amazing in the beginning, and I wish they'd just stop with it.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I like Rogue Ward, I just hate the idea of him back on the team.
ReplyDeleteTo clarify here:
ReplyDeletePeople who hate on Ward?
OR
People who hate on Ward joining the team again?
Those are two very different things. I like Rogue Ward, like sparky42 says below, I just can't stand the thought that he'd be let back on the team.
Never one for behind the scenes gossip but for some reason I am very interested about this relationship deterioration between Punjabi and Juliana. Couple this with the recent gossip from TVLine about cast members dreading working with a leading lady makes me think of Juliana.
ReplyDeleteAll of the hints and tidbits make me wonder if tonight's episode of The Flash will be the best episode of all CBTV this season.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I hate that I took the time to google this, but according to TV.com, he was in the woods for six months.
ReplyDeleteAnd then Garrett pretended to bond with Ward before dropping him off in the middle of nowhere to fend for himself for six months.
I don't have time to find the episode and skim it for proof, but I'm willing to bet the reviewer got it right.

Yeah, Garrett left him alone for six months but Ward was stuck there another five years. I've watched the episode multiple times (it hurts and I hate that abusive psychopath Garrett more and more each time).
ReplyDeleteOkay, well that still doesn't excuse his behavior. He's supposed to be some master of deception, and you have to play the room to be as successful as he's been. He's just being an a** to the team now.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think he knows how to read the room when it comes to a job? Any other time - nope. Grant genuinely loves them but his abuser was still alive last season when Hydra came out.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course the abuse doesn't excuse his behavior - it explains his actions - but it's not black and white. Ward's both a victim and a perpetrator here.
I'm looking forward to the redemption arc.
Idk, I'm still not. They have to handle it delicately. I'm actually in doubt that he even loves them. I think he loves the idea of having them, but he's not at all qualified or entitled to part of them.
ReplyDeleteLike I've said before, some bridges just can't be rebuilt.
I would like for Ward something more than a redemption arc because is very predictable.I would prefer him going after Tahiti program only to find out that like Coulson he had already been trough as result of putting him on team Hydra planted horrible memories and extravagate some already but one. That would be a twist.Maybe that is the reason his brother was playing dumb when his was telling him about the well.
ReplyDelete
