ReplyDeleteWhen the project was announced the triangle was supposed to be a main feature of the series. Plans could have changed since then. I haven't heard any news since they cast this.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm probably remembering wrong then, that's disappointing, I'd hate for yet another show to be ruined by romance.
ReplyDeleteI think romance gets a bad rap sometimes. I hate love triangles but sex is a part of life and if the "romance" is more of a sexual relationship, I am fine with that.

Well if it's just a sexual relationship it isn't romance at all, but I don't have a problem with that either. It's romance I have a problem with since when it's just sex it doesn't tend to take up most of the shows time. Still I'd be so happy if shows didn't find it necessary to heavily feature romance or sex, since they really aren't necessary.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, they do make it sound like the triangle is a main story (if you could call it that) in the show. Scorpion's love triangle doesn't bother me in the slightest though, hopefully this one won't because the show itself looks good.
ReplyDeleteScorpion is basically a procedural so you're not going to get a lot of personal drama during the hour. A minute or two at most. So, even if it's not your thing it won't tank the show for you. On the flip side, this kind of personal drama on a character-heavy, serialized drama like Killjoys is potentially problematic, especially if they planned to put the triangle front-and-center from the get-go.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Scorpion is the only show where the triangle doesn't bother me and is also my only procedural so the odds don't look too good anyway. Maybe the triangle will be resolved by season one, doubtful since they're usually dragged right to the end of a show but I can still dream :/

ReplyDeleteLovretta showed she has a good handle on Buffy-esque fiction with adult storylines in Lost Girl. I'm hoping she can do that same with this Firefly-esque show. Assuming she isn't pushed out after season 1 and the enjoyable campy funness gets destroyed...again.

ReplyDeletethe link i gave you clearly states that there is no love triangle. You ddn't read it? so here is what it says: " It was confirmed there will be no love triangle between the main characters (phew) but a relationship between the three (non-sexual) will be important to the show."

If they have removed that aspect, good for them. Although, I seriously doubt it wouldn't eventually turn into one no matter what they say.
Somehow I didn't know about this until I saw the promo today, Romance or not!, it's also from the producers of Orphan Black (the promo makes me think it will have some similar qualities like cool sci if and interesting plot twist and a whole lot of dysfunction!), has an unknown female lead, and has Luke McFarlin in it...and its on in the summer!

ReplyDeleteIt's such a tired ploy nowdays, that's overused and badly handled from a storytelling perspective, I just can't help but roll my eyes and groan when shows choose to go that route...
