Thanks to Titania1000 for the heads up.

The dark and haunting series "Hannibal" returns for a third season, revealing the fates of characters hanging in the balance, and the continuing psychological cat and mouse games they face.

After the shocking events of the season two finale, Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is on the run in Europe - accompanied by his psychiatrist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) - sporting a new identity, but servicing the same insatiable appetite. As the lives of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), Jack (Laurence Fishburne) and Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) converge toward Hannibal again, each with their own motivations to catch him once and for all, their deadly dance turns in startling and unexpected way.

  3. I'm not sure how to feel about Alana surviving, considering what they did to her character in S2. If they fix it and treat her like a character and not a plot device, then fine, but if not, she'd be better off dead.

  5. I'm with you here: of course with Caroline doing all the promotion at SDCC, the news is not surprising but God, do i hate it!
Alana has become the worst for me, and to think that we lost (again!) Abigail who was such a complex and fascinating character and had a big potential while Alana survived makes me want like never to be able to reconsider my love for the show (even though i know it's impossible at this stage).
At least, we got a new charismatic and respected leading lady with Gillian, although to be honest i should blame Bedelia for Abigail's death: she wasn't supposed to be on this plane and she took Abigail's place.
The good news is that we'll get Abigail in flasbacks for sure.

About Alana's future, i hold very little hope: the writers seem to have never know what to do with her and personally i can't see her being anything else than a love interest. And with the spoilers about Margot getting a new girlfriend, and about the role being cast very early on on the production process of s3, my bet is on Alana.

I'll just fastforward Alana's scenes and pray that the rest of season 3 will make up for it by living up to the hype....

  6. I think the show will completely ruin Alana's character if she's suddenly with Margot- is there anyone she's not a love interest to? And Margot's love interest should be Judy. The show really ruined Alana's character by making her a love interest to both Will and Hannibal- I'm against both, but especially I don't see why she needed to be Will's love interest, when I really liked the friendship between Dr. Bloom and Will in the book, which I can't see now ever happening on the show. Maybe Alana can be crippled or deeply troubled by what happened, but I wouldn't trust the writers to do that and treat her like an actual character.

Sorry, we're gonna have to disagree about Abigail. I liked her in S1 and was upset when she was killed off, but between the revisionist fantasies Will had of her (they were never close, she was much closer to Hannibal and was pretty distant to Will) and bringing her back from the dead (the fourth person that season) just to make her a plot device and get rid of her, they ruined it. She can't be alive now, it'd be too much and I hate how Will only cared about Abigail as motivation to be mad at Hannibal, when Hannibal also killed Beverly and Georgia, two women who were arguably closer to him or at least liked him back.

I don't mind flashbacks, especially if they tell us what she went through during those months at Hannibal's house- how much did she know, was she on board the whole "murder family in Europe" plan? I have too many questions and all because Bryan Fuller wanted one more shocking moment and a final nail in the Will-Hannibal friendship.

I'm happy for Bedelia, for how ever long we'll get her and I'm also glad we're getting Margot back, that Freddie will be a regular and that we're getting Reba and Molly, even if it's for 4-6 episodes only.

S2 kinda soured me to the show a bit, I hope they can bounce back in S3.

  9. That Alana will be back doesn't mean that she's alive.
