Grimm - Hibernaculum - Review

Nick and Hank are called to investigate a rare Wesen that leaves its victims frozen solid. Meanwhile, Juliette starts to feel that she is losing her humanity as she seeks to get revenge on Adalind. Elsewhere, Captain Renard continues to suffer from mysterious bleeding and visions while Monroe works toward coming to grips with the Wesenrein incident.

Everyone has their own demons, someone let them outside, someone else keeps them inside. For Juliette, it's easy to see: she's consumed by anger and revenge and wants to kill Adalind for what she's done to her life - but friendly reminder, Juliette decided to help Nick in the first place. Truth is no one knows the side effects about the spell to give Nick his powers back, so at least Juliette can blame her friends for a while.
When Adalind is sent to town to buy new clothes, since her belly's starting to grow and she can't fit in them anymore, Juliette spots her and attempts to kill her, but she's kinda frightened by herself and what she's become. She needs help. Sooner. Her bad luck takes her to Rosalee's shop where she finds Nick, Monroe and Hank too. As soon as she realizes Hank knows, Juliette woges. Rosalee's reaction is priceless, "She's a freaking Hexenbeist!" Adalind then freaks out with Pince Kenneth, ordering to kill Juliette before she kills her - I'm not so sure but the Royals may be interesting in Juliette's powers?

Meanwhile, Monroe is haunted by visions from the Wesenrein's tribunal and can't concentrate on his work. He lies to Rosalee, telling everything's fine - which is not at all. I like the fact the authors are serializing his storyline, it'd be interesting to see what's going to happen and if the tribunal will appear again.

The Wesen of the week involves the murder of a woman, being attacked by a man who broke into her house asking for help. Nick, Hank and Wu investigate and find the killer in the woods, thanks to Nick's super powers (perhaps something coming from his zombie period?). Too bad, the guy dies from freezing as soon as they bring them in prison. This is not the first or the last frozen victim; dead frozen bodies intensify in Portland, which the gang find out it's a Varme By behind those. Anyway, with Monroe's help, their investigation takes them in a hibernaculum, an insane place where a lot of bodies lay down in a deep sleep.

Sean Renard keeps bleeding from his chest and it hurts. I'm afraid he will be the one dying in the season finale. And then there's Nick. A flashback from the pilot shows aunt Marie warning him about his future with Juliette. If he's a Grimm, he can't have a normal life with Juliette. (Like Buffy, she was a slayer, she couldn't have a normal life with a normal guy). During those four seasons, the two have passed through a lot of obstacles: Juliette lost her memory, then she had it back, she found out Nick's a Grimm and discovered the Wesens world, and now she's one of those monsters. That's too much. I wonder if the writers really want to break them up because the promo for next episode shows a Dark Juliette (= Dark Willow from Buffy?).

What are your expectations for the season finale?
