Update: 10th April Below is an update with a few more details from Deadline.
I hear the project, first reported by EW, would feature cast members from the mothership series, with the talent deals currently being worked out. That is the strategy used for the Arrow-Flash spinoff series, now in the works at the CW, also for next season.
Noone would comment but I hear the Marvel spinoff was developed by S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski, who are currently writing the script and would executive produce. ABC is not expected to make a formal greenlight call on the project until the script comes in, with the hope being to be able to do that before the upfronts. In that case, the network might announce the new series at its upfront presentation, along with a promo. In the spinoff goes to series, I hear Zbyszewski is expected to serve as showrunner.
Details on the offshoot’s plot are sketchy, but I hear it could air concurrently with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Huge news for Agents of SHIELD fans. Not only is a third season of the action-adventure series pretty much guaranteed, but Marvel is quietly developing a spinoff for ABC.
We’re told a spinoff is being developed by SHIELD executive producer Jeffrey Bell (Angel, The X-Files) and SHIELD writer Paul Zbyszewski (Lost, Hawaii Five-0).
We don’t know is which characters from the current series will be moving over to the proposed spinoff – so let the speculation being on that. There won’t be an implanted pilot episode this season directly setting up the spinoff, either (like how CW launched The Flash out of Arrow). However, story elements that are still to come on SHIELD this year will be used to lay the groundwork for the potential new series. So by the end of the season – assuming the details for this project haven’t already leaked, which is rather unlikely – the spinoff concept should be clear.

Huh. Not sure how I feel about this.
ReplyDeleteLol. Just lol.
ReplyDeleteBetter not be Ward focused because that son of a bitch needs to die.
ReplyDeleteFirst better work on Carter and assure a second season, second work on Ur core show's ratings and than maybe develop a spinoff.
ReplyDeleteAgents of SHIELD is not a show which can afford a spin off.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it'll be about Skye and her new community.
Spinoff already? Uhhh, I love SHIELD immensely and all but this is way too soon for this. At least we know that season 3 is pretty much guaranteed. Anyway, should be interesting to get more details and have a better idea of what it will be about because I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteBetter be Ward focused because that son of a bitch needs more screentime.
ReplyDeleteYes! Chuck her off and make AOS watchable.
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised by this, happy but surprised. Guess ABC and Marvel are happy with the ratings if they want to do a spin off. If its Inhumans focussed that would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteI really don't want any of the leads to be off AoS and moved to the spin-off. Coulson, May, Skye, Fitz and Simmons. None of them.
ReplyDeleteDear lord the thought of that gives me nightmares.
ReplyDeleteKind of surprised by this, I wonder if it will be another bridge series like AC or a full series like AOS.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's Ward, I want him off AOS but not gone completely cos I really liked him in season 1 but they've gone bonkers with his character this season, he seems pointless now.
Different people work on the shows.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it's coming now that he'll be working with Coulson and the rest of the dirty dozen (God, I'm so excited).
ReplyDeleteSounds great. Could be about anything really:
ReplyDelete* Ward becomes the mercenary Paladin and the show follows his adventures.
* A show about the InHumans with Skye as the lead or her coming and going
* a parallel show about Real SHIELD with Gonzales and his crew.
Inhumans spinoff maybe?
ReplyDeleteDon't think they'd give Inhumans a separate show before the movie.
ReplyDeleteInhumans spinoff? That would be possible and amazing but isn't that what the movie is for? and what this second half of the season is mostly about? Hmmm, maybe it will be about another agency in the Marvel universe? SWORD? STRIKE?
ReplyDeleteHoly...! Great but please don't let move the main characters to it. And especially not Ward...he's such a great character who deserves a spinoff but then Agents of SHIELD would be not Agents of SHIELD anymore
ReplyDeleteI meant ABC.
ReplyDeleteI say May or Skye.
ReplyDeleteNo. AoS won't be AoS without May.
ReplyDeleteMy friend suggested Mike/Deathlok spin-off and I am so here for that.
ReplyDeleteWell the Inhumans of AOS are not the Inhumans of the movie which will focus on the well known Inhumans characters - the royal family. So they could do a show focused on the ones on Earth.
ReplyDeleteBut now you have mentioned SWORD I really want that! Though could they afford a space set show on network money?
Mocking Bird spin-off I am okay with.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think they'd show Inhumans in a show at all honestly. I'm thinking this group has a great deal of separation from the royal family, who'd be the main characters of the movie.
ReplyDeleteHell yes that would be great, as long as their are crossovers because I like her interactions with the team.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I'm just glad season three sounds like a sure thing.
ReplyDeleteIf AOS gets another spin-off I need another OUAT spin-off.
ReplyDeleteThat could work, being a superhero by night and trying to be a dad by day.
ReplyDeleteYup, a lot of people are also speculating that it could be about Bobbi which I would 100% agree with.
ReplyDeleteYes and we have our 3rd season renewal almost guaranteed there were no doubts for me but it will shut up the
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Bobbie
Plus, they kept his return a secret and it seems plausible.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Who? Why?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit - as big of an AoS fan as I am, I'm surprised that they'd want to do this, given the state of the ratings.
There needs to be a Netflix Hawkingbird series with lots of bow & arrow and batons ass-kicking. I say Netflix because Jeremy Renner isn't going to be a series regular on broadcast any time soon.
ReplyDeletePREACH.
ReplyDeleteI like Brett but he's not lead material actually the only one who can carry a show is Clark.
ReplyDeleteAnd I absolutely hate ward's guts
Isn't it enough with AoS and Agent Carter? Not complaining, I just don't see this one standing out in the rating race and I wouldn't know where ABC would put it, unless they want to commit to a whole Marvel line-up on Tuesdays and try to grab a TGIT effect.
ReplyDeleteNow, this could be very interesting depending on who gets the show: Bobbi would be my number 1 show, I think she is a strong character to lead her own show. Skye may be a possibility as to explore the worlds of Inhumans, but considering she has a key role on AoS and there is an Inhumans movie coming she may stay put.
I agree; love Bobbi, and I see them developing incredible stories with her as the lead
ReplyDeleteThis just goes to show that I have been right when saying that Shield is a certain renewal and not a bubble or even likely renewal. Networks don't develop spin offs for shows that aren't locks to come back. Its ratings are much more valuable than they seem on the surface.
ReplyDeleteI just hope this doesn't spell doom for Carter
Agreed but I think seeing the close gap between the ratings of various abc shows as most are low 2s to high ones I'm happy they are taking a chance.
ReplyDeleteall it takes is one Damn avenger for them to get that ratings boost :(
I usually see eye=to-eye with you on this topic, but in this case I beg to differ. A Ward spin-off is something I would welcome with open arms if it meant we'd be free of him, Stand With Ward, SkyeWard, self-righteous cries of "HE WAS ABUSED!!!!!!!", and the possibility of this show turning into The Vampire Diaries once and for all.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I don't think I'd like a Ward spin off, he is far too unlikeable
ReplyDeleteBy the way my choice for this is Bobbi.
ReplyDeleteCare to elaborate?
ReplyDeleteSo far many sites report that ABC wants more Carter, the exces trust that show.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a whole Tuesday Marvel lineup?
As long we're not losing Ward/Fitz to the spin-off,i'm okay with any possibilities.I think the show will premiere in between the hiatus of AoS just like AC.
ReplyDeleteABC is almost a lock to keep Tuesday 8pm sitcom hour. But maybe this spin off pairs with Shield at 10pm and Carter bridges at midseason the hiatus of one of them. I really hope Carter comes back. I think it is bubble but I am leaning renewal.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that people question this news based of AoS and Agent Carter's ratings. Reminder people Disney owns ABC. Disney also owns Marvel and Marvel is the company cash cow right now. If the Marvel Executives want a spinoff Disney is gonna give them a spinoff.
ReplyDeleteAlso Season 3 of AoS pretty much guarantees Season 4 of AoS.
LOL. But true. You may have a cookie. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about Carter. What would be awesome is if this spin-off is being groomed to be paired with AoS in a regular timeslot (Fresh Off the Boat moving, maybe?). A compatible pairing, especially with the hype and buzz that a new Marvel show would bring, could be just the shot in the arm AoS needs to gain some traction in the ratings.
Please. Please. Be a show that has the Thunderbolts as its series villain
ReplyDeleteI agree with that, the whole Marvel lineup is too out there, at least for the time being. Probably we'll see The Middle/FotB or FotB/Black-ish on Tuesdays at 8.
ReplyDeleteAs for Carter, its numbers aren't far from Shield's, so I think it is slightly edging out a renewal, just like you say. I'm crossing my fingers so we keep it!
I would renew Agent Carter instead! But if they really want a spin-off, how about making it about a super-hero instead of Agents? Maybe a Runaways ensemble? Or have a female hero leading it? Like She Hulk, Black Cat, Spider Woman, etc.?
ReplyDeleteLet Ward involved be I suppose, as he's had no story this season.
ReplyDeleteHope it the show focus on female superhero for once and they better renew Agent Carter first
ReplyDeleteThis can't be good news for Agent Carter right? I dont know If it is an smart move as much as i like the show i know the ratings suck so I dont get why they are doing a spin-off out of such a low rated show.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!!!
ReplyDeleteI could not care less about another season of Agent Carter. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteTHIS DAY JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.
ReplyDeleteI'm as big an AoS fan as anyone, but let's be fair here: it doesn't matter how much money Disney has - they're only going to PUT huge amounts of money into something that MAKES huge amounts of money, like the movies. While AoS is obviously more successful than its ratings suggest at first glance, it can't be a major hit, or it would have a Game of Thrones style budget, which would result in huge effects and stunts, more famous guest stars, etc. It would be a piece of cake to get the Avengers on the show in that case. As solid as the production values on AoS are, they aren't movie-quality, which means the show isn't making Marvel and Disney as much money as the movies are.
ReplyDeleteIf they do this and don't renew Agent Carter, I will be pissed.
ReplyDeleteCould Skye moving onto her own inhumans show, or is there a movie coming out about them already?
ReplyDeleteLuke Mitchell better be in this!
ReplyDeleteNot May!!
ReplyDeleteLooking at the performance of Flash and Arrow vs. AoS, I would definitely think that a superhero-based series is a better idea (and I say that as someone who far prefers AoS over the other two). An alarmingly large number of people refuse to accept a comic book show that isn't focused on a hero in a costume and features well-known comic characters every week.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's an Inhumans movie in Phase 3, although it's still far away (recently postponed from November 2018 to July 2019 because of the addition of a Spider-Man movie).
ReplyDeleteI would really like a speed ball spin-off too I think his powers would be cool for a tv show ,bobbi could be involved in the show too perhaps because I don't think they would go for another completely female centric show as I don't think they would to be repetitive
ReplyDeleteNo one is making U.
ReplyDeletewhat is this nonsence? The series is doing kinda bad and tehy ahve Agent carter, now they want another?. Maybe they will introduce a character in teh upcoming marvel movuies that are going to be part of this spinoff.
ReplyDeleteSkye is the worst. How they could build a show around her is like The CW trying to build a show around just Ray. Boring. I want Bobbi as either Mockingbird or Huntress.
ReplyDeleteA Secret Warriors spinoff?
ReplyDeleteWell the fact that you compared AoS situation to GOT situation shows you have no idea what you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteAoS- 22 episode season on network TV
GOT- 10 episode season on premium cable
Also AoS to keep going doesn't have to make huge money, all it has to really do is come close to breaking even. The fact that the show is giving the viewer the begins of Civil War with the Coulson's SHIELD vs Gonzalez's SHIELD and that they are giving you Inhumans is just proof that Marvel sees this show as more a building block then a money maker. The money maker are the movies. Marvel can afford to pay AoS budget every season if it builds the universe even more.
Isn't the actor already cast on another show?
ReplyDeleteBobbi really would be a great choice!
ReplyDeleteThen an Inhumans show is out of the question. Maybe Ward, who we haven't seen much of this season can go with Kara and hunt HYDRA on the side to atone for his sins. And the plus is that people could stop complaining about him being taken back into the fold to easily.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the show, but this doesn't make any sense from a ratings point of view. They would be better off doing a spinoff of Grey's, Scandal or HTGAWM. AOS, while safe to be renewed, is not exactly their highest rated show.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way!
ReplyDeleteDamn it, I forgot about that. They could probably work something out.
ReplyDeleteWard has been mostly of the grid this back half of the season; if he were to spin off I'd barely notice.
ReplyDeleteAnd AoS would still be AoS without him, after all Ward is no longer part of Shield
Secret Warriors show with the Thunderbolts as the villains, please.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Agent Carter as it aired but I re-watched it and it did not hold up well as a whole. I just would not be upset if we didn't get any more despite enjoying those initial episodes.
ReplyDeleteMarvel has a lot of pull within Disney. If they want a show and Disney is ok then it happens. ABC really has no say in the matter.
ReplyDeleteAgents of REAL SHIELD?
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be either:
ReplyDelete8:00 Blackish
8:30 FOTB
9:00 SHIELD
10:00 the spin-off
Or at 9:00 airing the spin-off and at 10:00 SHIELD.
LOL.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would love to see an Inhumans spinoff. I'm loving their parts on the show and we have barely seen anything yet.
ReplyDeleteDo I need to explain why the fact that ABC is developping a spin-off of a struggling show in its second season makes me laugh ?
ReplyDeleteugh i would watch everything about the characters who don't get enough screentime and character development in AoS
ReplyDelete- Ward being a rouge badass doing Punisherstuff
- May becoming the cavalary and fighting crime with the berserker staff
-FitzSimmons at the acadamy
-Mockingbird
I love it when arrogant people simply announce that "you have no idea what you're talking about" because they don't agree with you.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter if GoT is on cable or not. Cable measures success differently, yes, but the simple-enough principle that "the more money a show makes, the bigger budget it's going to have" is true regardless of the medium.
I made the comparison because you claimed that Disney has so much money that they can afford to keep AoS going as long as they want, regardless of the ratings. My point is that it's not so simple. If Disney wants to continue being successful, it can't just throw money at whatever it wants - it needs to invest in projects that will return the investment. So AoS, like the movies, has to do well enough to justify the money invested in it; since it's a lot less money than the movies, the profits also don't have to be nearly as high.
Are AoS' ratings good enough to get by? Yes, they are. Are they good enough to warrant a spin-off? I guess Marvel thinks so, but it seems more than a little dubious when the show can barely be called a legitimate success. You normally greenlight a spin-off because the parent show is doing well and you believe you could repeat that success with the new show. There's no reason, however, to invest in a new show if it's simply going to do the same as AoS. They're aiming higher than that.
It's more 'Blackish/FOTB'
ReplyDeleteLooks very possible
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask: is this spin off planned for next season or for the 2016-2017 season?
ReplyDeleteI'm one of these people and for that reason, I'd be fine with the spin-off being about Ward. (Fat chance of it happening, though: I'm sure they'll learn from the mistakes of AoS, and make the spin-off about a well-known character from the comics who wears an actual costume and has actual superpowers so the ADHD fans don't complain about how it's about "boring agents with no powers".)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it could show up on the fall schedule for next season.
ReplyDeleteWait, we're good. Someone checked and J.'s just recurring, not a regular on that show. It can still happen.
ReplyDeleteOh, in that case it is possible
ReplyDeleteI too think it seems weird on the surface, but downright saying "lol" means you're one of those people who think they know the business better than those who actually work in the industry. You'd fit right in at TV by the Numbers.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he an Inhuman on AoS? I wonder if they'll make this about them.
ReplyDeleteamazing news!
ReplyDeletePOPULAR GENRE SHOW MAY BE IN MORE TROUBLE THAN YOU THINK
ReplyDeleteMORE @ TVBTN!!
that would be cool..
ReplyDeleteMy worry about that is that Skye would likely be used to bridge the shows and would have less time on AoS.
ReplyDeleteI'm sensing an Inhuman spin-off-He can be part of the ensemble.
ReplyDeleteYes. Yes to THIS.
ReplyDeleteSo you think that's why they brought Deatlock back?
ReplyDeleteI'm all for more Luke Mitchell but I thought they would wait until the movie came out. Then again, do we even know when this spin-off will film? The movie is years away.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about this either but moving ahead with a potential spin-off does give me hope that AoS will be picked up for a 3rd season.
ReplyDeleteSo much for all of us worrying AoS not doing well. They are creating a spin off. My prediction is it will be a show revolving around Bobby Morse.
ReplyDeleteWell, he might be not be a part of SHIELD anymore, but he's still important for the story. I believe he'll have an important role to play in the last episodes. The interactions between him and the others is so much fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe writers did it right. It isn't necessary that he's in every episode (although I missed him very much), it would be too overfilled with too many storylines at the same time. Just wait.
it does. "Not only is a third season of the action-adventure series pretty much guaranteed" XD
ReplyDeleteI was already thinking that a 3rd was likely before this news but this just confirms my hopes.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a Deathlok spin-off :D
Not sure how to feel about this. Spinoffs tend to decrease the quality of the main show by moving actors and storylines.
ReplyDeleteSame here! now I hope S3's ratings could be higher haha. The show has been getting better and better since S2, I want more seasonsXD
ReplyDeleteCould be the inhumans or secret warriors. Definetly people with powers. It seems like Marvel is trying to stablish the inhumans as the new xmens since they don't have the right so a spin off show could be a way.
ReplyDeleteI think the major problem with season one was it had to play second fiddle to the then upcoming release of Cap 2. This season it only had GotG to contend with and that had little to no impact on the series.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see what impact Ultron has on the series.
That was my first thought too.
ReplyDeleteIdk how to feel about this but I do know a spinoff can be more successful than the original show
ReplyDeleteYES! sHIELD can't be cancelled. :D Now I just gotta pray May won't leave Shield to be in the spin-off. If she leaves Philinda dies....
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteObviously the spinoff will be a sitcom starring Coulson, Hunter and Deathlok. But if they wanted to make a Fitzsimmons romantic comedy, that would be cool too. lol
this is incredibly confusing.
ReplyDeleteAoS is doing terribly ratings-wise and has a completely foot-less storyline atm. Not sure who or what this is supposed to be about but i seriously hope that ABC knows what its doing
Season 3 was always a given
The only thing I can imagine is the spin-off working like Agent Carter did this season, as a filler
you were faster than me. Only if it's Inhumane than probably not with Sky maybe more characters will be introduced. Wards screentime always feels like a different show already. Real shield has the potential to stand on its own.
ReplyDeletelol "Captain Hydra" would be a great title for a Ward show
ReplyDeleteThe ratings for Agent Carter are not great tbh, would be very surprised if they cancelled though. I expect at least one more season.
ReplyDeleteI think they will explore more of the Inhumans with Skye and the others.
ReplyDeleteMust admit I am finding the whole inhuman storyline a bit of a yawn.
ReplyDeleteI think they could still do an inhumans show so they can get them more known on the universe before the movie. The movie still far away. A lot of people are not familiar with them. That way they wouldn't compromising the actors who are not inhuman on the aos show. Secret warriors is another possibility.
ReplyDeleteI agree that "you have no idea what you're talking about" was uncalled for, but I think his point is an interesting one. The movies have been insane money makers to Marvel Studios, but as far as universe building is concerned it's undeniable that they can only take it so far due to their running time limitation. In that sense, TV shows set in the greater MCU are essential to Marvel's ultimate big picture, the success of their movies, and, as such, short of an incredibly abysmal ratings resulting in unjustifyable losses I think Marvel is definitely willing to subside ABC's costs to keep AoS or any other show set in the MCU running.
ReplyDeleteThis is particularly important for the upcoming Inhumans movie, the least known property of phase 3's lineup and, as such, the one with the biggest risks involved. There's a lot of rumors and/or speculation that they're going to frame it as a Game of Thrones style political conflict, but for that to work A LOT of world building is required, world building that cannot possibly be conveyed in a satisfying way in a two-hour movie. Establishing a show featuring various Inhuman factions fighting for power leading up to 2019's Inhumans movie would, then, be an incredibly smart idea on Marvel's part, as it'll not only keep the mythology introduced in Agents of SHIELD in the minds and hearts of the audience but also expand it, something they can only take so far on AoS as the show's focus is on Coulson and his team, not Inhumans in general. Assuming, of course, that's what the spin-off will be about.
Me too, Bobbi is great.
ReplyDeleteI don't either but perhaps Fitz's separation is pre planned for the spin off.
ReplyDeleteCould be Ward and maybe Deathlok which would be fine.
You never know it could be focused on real shield characters.
Depends on how Shield vs Real Shield is resolved I guess.
I hate the idea because this means splitting up the team. Like you said, they all work so well together and also means the quality of the show will suffer. The rating are not that great that can afford more loses.
ReplyDeleteThe title of this - The Atom.
ReplyDeleteLol.
People were saying the same last year pre-TWS. I don't personally see it as foot-less (but I'm not going to argue if you see it that way, I can see why you do), but I do wonder how Ultron will affect this.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it'll be Agents of NuSHIELD? :P
As i said, this one will definitely premiere way before the movie-Next season maybe.
ReplyDeleteI'm all in for the idea but please don't split the team (even if they look so fractured atm) and YES for a third season.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see where you said that. Thanks. I had hoped they wouldn't try to rush it for this Fall.
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter is not an AoS spin-off.
ReplyDeletePre WS was meh but entertaining, the immediate effect of Hydra taking over was great but pretty much everything this season was weak, especially the Inhumans arc with skye
ReplyDeleteAoS was never on the bubble, it's advertising that makes money itself. No matter how low the ratings are, it'll always be a money-machine
ReplyDeleteRight?! And the last space set show on network TV that I can remember is Firefly so it's not totally impossible to do again.
ReplyDeleteFitzSimmons romcom FTW
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I feel about this. I just hope it means AoS season 3 is guaranteed.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to guess the spinoff could be about non-royal Inhumans or maybe Agents of S.W.O.R.D. or whatever new name "real" Shield adopts.
I love AoS and want more but I don't want to lose any of my faves from this show and to be honest they're all my faves. I fear Mac, Bobbi, Hunter could go :(
ReplyDeleteI'd welcome a Ward spin just so I won't ever had to deal with this character ever again.
ReplyDeleteThat would be cool, hope its that more than taking Skye out of AoS to do a InHumans show.
ReplyDeleteThat would be my hope, Real Shield turning into SWORD perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI desperately want space set show! It has been far too long, if they did a MCU one I might die of happiness.
ReplyDeleteI would say that it is...it sounds like they convinced enough of their TV output that they intend to expand it.
ReplyDeleteOmgggg so much comic book shows. I can't wait to watch. Wonder what This will be about.
ReplyDeleteIf this is a substituation for an Agent Carter Season 2, then no thanks. However, if they aired this, along with AoS AND Agent Carter, then hell yeah! That'll be like what, 6 Marvel tv shows then? Including the ones on Netflix too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of these as reasons why AoS is safe from cancellation, but I think it's a different story when we're talking about a new show. A new show with AoS' current ratings isn't going to fly, even if it does world-building of its own. They'll want something that can perform considerably better. So while AoS sticking around is one thing, giving it a spin-off is another and that's where it does seem to me like a pretty bold move. They'll have to take a good look at the reasons AoS wasn't the big hit they expected it to be and course-correct in this new show.
ReplyDeleteDo you mean Deathlok being brought back as a replacement for Ward, or as a super-powered character because viewers complain about the lack of these? (I don't really think the spin-off is about Ward or any of the main AoS cast, it's more likely they'll introduce a new character or concept in the final reel of Season 2 and then have it carry over to the new series.)
ReplyDeleteI guess the question is whether they're looking at this as a full-fleged series for the fall schedule, or another short series to be used as a bridge between the two halves of the AoS season next year. If it's the latter, I fear Agent Carter is doomed. :( Fingers crossed for the former, therefore.
ReplyDeleteDon't even joke about that, or there'll be a nuclear war going on HERE, too.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'd watch the Coulson/Hunter road trip show.
ReplyDeleteOther possibilities:
The weekly hour of Cal being crazy.
The weekly hour of Melinda May beating people up.
The weekly hour of Fitz being adorable.
OMG, *yes* to that first one (nothing against FitzSimmons, I'm just not into them romantically, but mileage varies and all). Can you imagine the bickering that will ensue if the car runs out of gas and Hunter starts complaining that he TOLD Coulson to fill the whole damn tank, and eventually Mike threatens to blow Hunter up with a missile if he doesn't shut up.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many fans of the comics who want to see Hawkeye and Mockingbird, who are lovers in the comics, team up on either the big or small screen. I think that could be a lot of fun, but I just don't see Jeremy Renner doing TV, especially on a broadcast network (Netflix, maybe). It's doubtful they can even get the guy to do a guest spot on AoS, never mind a regular role on a show. There's probably a bigger chance of Bobbi being upgraded to the movies than Hawkeye coming to the small screen - for more than a cameo, anyway.
ReplyDeleteNot if it's about a secondary character like Deathlok
ReplyDeleteEven I don't see Jaremy Renner on TV. Not even on Netflix to be honest for the next few years unless they pay him movie quality money. They could have the spin off with Bobbi as the main character teaming up with some other super powered TV scaled Marvel hero/heroine. Then they can explore both of their comic canon. But personally I hope the new show has a more faster pace than AoS. As much as I adore AoS it feels like audience now a days prefer break neck paced story telling on action based shows. AoS sometimes take too much time to explore story lines.
ReplyDeleteWhat? I'm enjoying the show, but I don't think this is needed, at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to disagree. He was important in the beginning of the season when he was giving them Hydra intel, sure, but since then he's just been a loose cannon that doesn't really add anything to the story. Other than Trip, who's already been killed off, Ward is perhaps the only character you could jettison from the show without hurting it any. I know Coulson is going to turn to him for help now, but to me that's hardly something that makes him necessary to the series. The same storyline could easily be told without him. The whole Hydra connection they added to Coulson's search for Skye so that he'd have a reason to go to Ward of all people is just lame.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I wasn't too excited for the idea (way too soon), but if it's a bridge series than that would be ok, anything to avoid a long and painful hiatus.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's to fix the relationship between Fitz and Simmons, it feels like they'd need a whole series for that (lol, just kidding).
Maybe that's what Lincoln is for and it will revolve around him and the inhumans. Then again, the writers have mentioned about the possibility of a Deathlock spin-off, so it could be that. Could be a Mockingbird spinoff, or even an Olmost Shield spin-off on the hiatus to setup Civil War.
I just don't think it will involve any of the regulars.
That they brought him back to launch a spin off with him as the main character.
ReplyDeleteI red some of the comments here and I don't understand why so much "hate" toward Skye (and Ward) and the Inhuman story (it's a part of Marvel), her story is preety interesting and her powers, come on, it's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteFair enough, and that's why I think Inhumans has a greater chance to be what the new show would be about than Deathlok, Mockingbird or whatever other suggestions have been made here. Simply put, an Inhumans-centric show would be radically different from AoS, even if gets jump started by the latter.
ReplyDeleteBut Marvel is well known for their "bold-move" by now. It's those bold move that made them so successful and so rich. Don't forget people believed that Iron Man would be a disastrous fail, especially since everyone thought RDJ career was done because of his drugs/prison problems past, but they did it anyway and here we are now. I think it's a good point that Marvel/Disney and thus ABC might not be focusing on the ratings of the show (which aren't bad tbh) but on their MCU "big picture". What makes AoS so interesting IMO is that it's very connected to the movies. Marvel isn't just making sure the movies are all connected in some way, they're also making sure the shows (AoS/Carter/and the spinoff most likely) are connected to the movies. They're making/building a coherent universe and that's VERY smart because they're alone in doing that. In comparison, DC doesn't do that : the movies are not all connected (even if they are trying to do it more now with Batman v. Superman) and their universe is separated from the TV universe with Arrow, The Flash which are also separated from Gotham.
ReplyDeleteI can't see anything else but Inhumans or Secret Warriors but my bet would be secret warrior. The EW article say story elements that are still to come on the show would lay the groundwork for the show which makes me believe is the second option. They would leave the SHIELD and the spy stuff with Coulson's team on the main show and then do the spinoff with characters like Skye/Daisy Johnson, maybe Ward if he is really Hellfire adding more characters.
ReplyDeleteinhumans? that would make sense...
ReplyDeleteI like Skye. I didn't like her at all at the beginning of season one, I found her annoying but she got more and more interesting as the episodes flew by and now I really like her character, she's one of my favorites. Right now I much prefer her Inhuman story than the two Shileds story arc. Can't wait to see what's going to happen with her mother and the Inhumans. Her story arc actually got me way more interested in the Inhuman movie than I was when it was first announced.
ReplyDeleteSo what makes more sense a spinoff for the inhumans and trying to stablish them and make thme more known to general audience until the movie comes out or a spinoff about the Secret Warriors?
ReplyDeleteInhumans would definitely work for a series. I would also like to see a hulk series although I would prefer it on netflix. I am not sure what else would work within the same feel and world as AoS. Cannot wait to find out though
ReplyDeleteHaha. I love the show but I dont see a way of doing this without splitting up the team. the only thing I can think of is inhumans but they have a film coming out about it in a few years. The only way they could do this is if it started the story of the film.
ReplyDeleteI think it's very unlikely they would do a spinoff of a secondary character. Those characters are interesting but not that interesting to do their own show. If this really goes off the ground is more likely something bigger from the MCU so the show can help AOS. The chances are the main cast would change especially since they currently have to many main actors on the show.
ReplyDeleteLet's just agree that we disagree.
ReplyDeleteBecause the first one worked out so well, right?
ReplyDeletei prefer completely new show set in MCU,my biggest wish is an adaptation of 'Runaways' Comics, though its very unlikely i guess
ReplyDeleteTotally on board with this! I would love a Mocking Bird spin-off
ReplyDeleteAnd who would watch a Ward spin off? lol Pretty much nobody lol
ReplyDeleteWell, i only see hate from Ward here. A lot of people loves Skye, she is my favorite! But the hate Ward gets is very understandable. People love the team (Simmons, Fitz), and Ward tried to kill them, so..
ReplyDeleteI only liked Fitzsimmons as a brotp,..and hell no for Skye to be separated from Simmons. Skimmons needs to be always together..but i liked the idea of a sitcom starring Coulson, Hunter and Deathlok lol
ReplyDeleteI can't believe people got so mad over a tentative title, haha.
ReplyDeleteJust seen the promo for next episode, could be an academy spinoff which would explain the bunk beds, construction and secret globe trotting Coulson has been doing.
ReplyDeleteTrust real Shield to automatically assume the worst just because he did not tell them, he is the director and he doesn't have to.
Don't know what it is but I'm excited
ReplyDeleteit BETTER not be Coulson, Skye, Ward, Leo, Jemma, or May!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteexcept for the fact that Ward isn't HYDRA and never was
ReplyDeleteBut the actor who played Hawkeye was on a TV show a couple of years ago. It was on ABC too for a matter of fact. Its not too far out of realm that he might actually decide to be part of the tv deal.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye, Agent Carter. I will miss you.
ReplyDeleteactually it will get some of the antagonizers out of our direct fandom....the show would fail but not for the rest of us lol!
ReplyDeleteIts not going to be May. Not only are Ming and Clark Front Runners Ming is good for the AOS PR Department. We lose her they lose PR.
ReplyDeleteIts possible that it will center around Mockingbird. Every show needs a home base from which the narrative will come from so it will need to be set somewhere else than AoS.
ReplyDeleteIn Los Angeles ....on the WEST COAST.
It did indeed turn out awesome. By far the BEST comic book adaptation so far on network television written by adults for adults (and sophisticated kids)!!!! If you don't like it, don't watch it and don't criticize it if you don't watch it. Simple.
ReplyDeleteIt's averages a 3 rating with DVR playback, enough to survive, and is part of an extremely important franchise for Disney/Marvel and by extension, ABC. As long as it's not losing money it is safe for a couple more years, easily. Especially with the show becoming more and more integrated with the films and now seemingly setting up the Inhumans film.
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter was freaking great. I thought it was one of the best shows of the season and not just because of its Marvel ties, it was well written, superbly acted, compelling. I'll cry if we don't get at least 8 more episodes.
ReplyDeleteJUST Bobbi
ReplyDeleteWhy not something that could explore the more mystical side of the universe? It would whet appetites for Doctor Strange.
ReplyDeleteNOT THE MAIN CAST PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the sneak peek I think screenrant are right about the spinoff. It will have Skye and her secret wariors in the center of the action:
ReplyDeletehttp://screenrant.com/agents-of-shield-spinoff-skye-secret-warriors-team-white/
i've never not wanted a spin-off before
ReplyDeleteNO! not the MAIN cast! Bobbi just her
ReplyDeleteBennett's acting has come on massively since Season 1, but I'm not sure she'd get lead role just yet, not too mention the relationship with Coulson. But given how things are playing out I could see Bobbi getting it.
ReplyDeleteIf they do go with the Secret Warriors, I think Bobbi will be the one leading them. I know Quake does in the comics, but they could change that and because of this SHIELD vs Real SHIELD conflict, they may not want Bobbi to be a member of the team again.
