Totally agree on Elementary. I know the show is about Holmes and Watson but with only four regulars, I wish they would make more of an effort to show us more of Bell and Gregson.
Mondays: Davina TO, Enigma Gotham Tuesday: Emily PLL, Eddie Thawne Flash. Wednesdays: Alex MF, Diggle, Roy, Lance Arrow, Kane The100 Thursdays: Alex and Jo GA, Bash Reign, Tyler and Matt VD, David Scandal. Fridays: Brick Hod (RIP) Sundays: Charming, Belle, Will, Red Once, jack Revenge.
John Diggle from Arrow, even given the recent episode. I miss him being central on the team, especially as he looks so much more badass working with Oliver than the new suits.
Sleepy Hollow underused the hell out of Jenny and Irving. Five more episodes, and way less of them both.
OUAT is using Belle better, but I wish she, and Will, could get a bit more involved in the thick of things. I also miss more of the random members of the town, like the dwarves or actually seeing Granny.
You could throw in an enormous amount of recurring and guest stars for this one. Natalie Dormer (Moriarty) on Elementary, Paige Turco (Zoe) on Person of Interest, Darby Stanchfield (Meredith) and Ayre Gross (Perlmutter) on Castle just to name a few
The 100 - Monty TVD - Tyler, Matt TO - Davina, Marcel, Cami (Though I hate Cami and don't really want to see more of her) OUaT - Will Scarlett, Ruby (wish she would return), Revenge - David Clark, we didn't get any reason to like him or root for him
I agree with those saying that Diggle is underused on Arrow. I also feel that Roy needs more screen time. As for other shows, I'll never get enough Root on Person of Interest and am beyond irritated that the majority of what little screen time Castiel has had this season has been stuck with characters I have zero interest in. Both Hannah and Claire are annoying and useless. If they aren't going to give Cas better storyarcs, they need to let him go.
OUAT: Will Scarlet, it's like the writers brought him in just to stare at the screen. Pretty shocking they haven't found some real use for him. The 100: Bellamy; though not that underused, he had a lot less to do this season in comparison to the first, which is a shame considering how complex and compelling his character is. Also, Monty is very much underused. Arrow: Diggle; he just doesn't feel essential, like he could walk out of the show and everything would remain the same, albeit some short sad period of Oliver and company missing him. Revenge: David Clarke; he had a clear purpose and use at the beginning of the season, but now he is just there to comfort Emily. There's need for a storyline here. New Girl: Winston; he has been surprisingly solid through last season and this one and moments from him are lacking lately.
Mostly because I honestly disliked the first 5 episodes. I've been told it gets much better, but it felt so procedurial that I honestly didn't know why I was watching it.
I have hear over the years lots of reasons to come back, so it's on my summer list: I'll catch up by the time season 5 arrives, I hope
Totally agree on Robyn and I would add Kalinda herself. They have done a lazy job at wrapping her storyline, in fact, they SA's election was a low point of the show IMO, every character became irrelevant and the show suddenly decided to be The Alicia Show.
Very true and here i have to agree with others. They completely ruined David's character. First of all he never should have killed conrad, then he should not have trusted victoria snd his whole dialogue is messed up. I wish he had stayed the nicr and innoccent david Clarke we knew back then
Once Upon a Time - Will Scarlet. Seriously. Why is he even a regular? I was looking at a chart of character screen time when 4A had finished airing and throughout the entire 11 episodes (or 12 if you're one of those people that count 'Smash the Mirror' as two episodes) he only had something like 4 minutes of screen time. Pretty much every guest star ever has had more screen time than that!
TO: Elijah (judging from season 2, he's a damn lead and ways degraded to a nanny)
Blacklist: Tom
Arrow: Malcolm, Lance, Diggle
Flash: Grodd
Community: Pelton, Chang, Pierce, Shirley, Troy (Pelton/Chang are mains but are underused as hell in a minimal capacity, meanwhile Pierce had appearances as a ghost this season....not enough. And Troy could easily show up through a Childish Gambino music video)
AoS: Ward
Forever: Adam
PoI: Root
Chosen: Ian (I know he's supposed to be dead...but I don't care)
Yes to Jenny on "Sleepy Hollow". Here's hoping next season gives her some more screentime and some really good storylines, both with Abbie and on her own. Also hoping they can do more with Irving, too.
Rookie Blue: Dov The Good Wife: Cary, Kalinda, Finn (especially the recent seasons), Robyn (is she still part of the cast???), David Lee The Vampire Diaries: Bonnie, Tyler and Stefan (For a character who is supposed to be the lead, I think Stefan is relatively underused) Grimm: Adalind, Trubel (they need to bring Trubel back) Revenge: David Clarke Flash: Iris The Originals: Marcel OUAT: Ruby, Mulan, Dr. Whale Sleepy Hollow: Jenny, Hawley The Blacklist: Tom The Fall : Tom Anderson (a waste of Colin Morgan!)
Arrow: Diggle, Roy (seriously he doesn't even get dialogues. Its his stunt double who does all the work) Flash: Iris (the term should be misused here) Sleepy Hollow: Jenny PoI: Fusco AoS: Ward The Originals: Davina Gotham: Selina Grey's Anatomy: Bailey, Jo, Alex Castle: Martha, Alexis The 100: Kane
Eh still more used than Roy. Guy was freaking electrocuted and left there (okay Oliver went back but it was never shown). Plus the dead shot stuff was cool. And he got decent focus.
She only pops up 1-3 times a year, sooo... Admittedly, she's a character who could easily be brought into the main cast, should the producers feel the need to add to it (and granted her filming schedule permits such).
I felt the same way about the first season. I stuck around for about the first eight episodes before bailing out of boredom from overwhelming procedural elements. That, and it took itself too seriously for a show so cliche.
I saw the first season finale when Root was introduced, and my interest piqued. It's her character that finally brings real life to the show. I'd recommend checking out the second season episodes that have anything to do with Root and Shaw. Their guest appearances were really great, and finally added some serious serialized elements.
Both are promoted to the main cast in the third season, and their consistent presence adds so much to the dynamic of the cast and charm of the show. It's in the third season that POI seems to finally learn how to have fun with itself. It's almost an intentional parody of its own genre at times. They also start maintaining a good serial-procedural balance.
Even the stand-alone episodes are season four are mostly enjoyable.
I'd really recommend checking out the bigger episodes in season two where prominent recurring characters are featured and the mythology of the Machine is explored a bit. Season three is things really get good, though. However, you can jump in at pretty much any point and get a rough grasp on the plot thus far.
Ha, yes, that was pretty bad of Oliver to just forget about Roy. But come on, Diggle has been there pretty much since the beginning and has been relegated to the guy who pitches in with his thoughts every so often and goes out into the field only when a) Oliver is 'dead' or b) on a suicide mission with Oliver.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
John Diggle. Even an episode that is focussed on him isn't focussed on him. He's more than just the black driver, Arrow!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see some more Fusco on POI.
ReplyDeleteThe Good Wife - Where the hell is Robyn? Maybe she will come back when Kalinda leaves but its a shame not to have them working together.
ReplyDeleteElementary - Doesn't use Bell enough.

Paige Turco was on POI? Reasons to get back on that show are pilling on!
ReplyDeleteChicago PD- Antonio, Kim burgess, Atwater, Platt, frankly, anyone who is not jay and Erin.
ReplyDeleteIt's the best series on television so I don't know why you're missing it
ReplyDeleteI kind of a gree with Jack, but he has some stuff to do on the show; now David, he has been reduced to a role of solely comfort Emily
ReplyDeleteMostly because I honestly disliked the first 5 episodes. I've been told it gets much better, but it felt so procedurial that I honestly didn't know why I was watching it.

ReplyDeleteElementary: Gregson

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised, as I skimmed down, no one said everyone not named Rick, Glenn, Sasha, Carol, and Daryl on The Walking Dead, especially Abraham.
ReplyDeleteYes to Iris. She is so unlikeable on the show - naive, overly the top bubbly type character
ReplyDeleteEveryone but Olivia Benson on Law & Order SVU.
ReplyDeleteChange that, everyone but Olivia Benson & Noah (soon-to-be) Benson on Law & Order SVU.
Sucks.
Arrow on Arrow :p
ReplyDeleteHOD - Magnolia
ReplyDeleteI don't see the poll.
ReplyDeleteAtwater - Chicago PD
ReplyDeleteCary - The Good Wife
Eddie- The Flash
Chin and Joe White ( Terry O'Quinn) - Hawaii 5-0.
Fusco - POI, John Diggle - Arrow, Daenerys Targaryen - Game of Thrones
ReplyDeleteI'll probably want to add more as I read other people's votes.
We could definitely use more Nyssa on Arrow and Jenny on Sleepy Hollow. Two awesome characters who don't get used as much as they should.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The Good Wife has one of the best ensemble casts, so to focus only on Alicia, is a shame.
ReplyDeleteDiggle on Arrow, Katrina on Sleepy Hollow, and on OuaT - Ruby, Will, Archie, Aurora, Mulan, Granny... almost too many to mention!
ReplyDeleteArrow - Roy
ReplyDeleteFlash - Eddie
Reign - Bash
The Originals - Davina
Carolyn on Bones
ReplyDeleteRoot (POI)- there could never be enough Root.
ReplyDeleteMaggie (The Walking Dead) as of late

ReplyDeleteMorgan on Criminal Minds this season hasn't been used enough. I'm hoping he gets a centred episode soon.
ReplyDelete
