The untitled drama—which is being developed by Arrow and Flash executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti, as well as Arrow boss Marc Guggenheim and Sarah Schechter—is tentatively slated to star Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm) and Caity Lotz, though it’s unclear whether she’ll be portraying a new role since her Arrow character, Sara Lance, died earlier this season.
“For me, it honors all of the great team up movies, whether it’s Ocean’s Eleven or whether it’s the superhero books,” Berlanti tells EW. “That’s what it’s about. If you go back to the old westerns, there would be The Lone Gunman, but there would also be The Magnificent Seven. It’s very much in the spirit of those kinds of movies and shows.”
One of the main burning questions after the project’s announcement was why Robbie Amell was missing from the cast list, considering he makes up the other half of Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond. Unfortunately, it sounds like bad news could be on the horizon as Berlanti admits there is a particular reason for his absence, but “I can’t say why.”

COME ON ROBBIE AMELL IS FIRESTORM DO NOT FIRE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIs this a case of too many spin-off's?
ReplyDeletetranslation:"Robbie had a theatrical hit this year and demands a bigger paycheck cuz he thinks he's all that now"
ReplyDeleteCould they be making Robbie a regular on The Flash?
ReplyDeleteSounds like they're going to depower Ronnie and have Martin Stein takeover as the sole Fire Elemental Firestorm. I wonder if that could lead into the introduction of the other elemental's like Swamp Thing.
ReplyDeleteEventually, Ronnie's powers will probably reassert themselves, leading to his merge with Jason.
Just call the series The Brave and the Bold since that's what the show sounds like it'll be.
ReplyDeleteAnd either Ronnie dies or The Flash indeed changes the entire universe by going back in time.
Thats what I figured they would do with him for season 2, like they did with Roy, Felicity and Slade for Arrow season 2. Makes sense he would get upgraded over Linda for sure.
ReplyDeletepersonally, i figured it'd be something to do with the flash storyline concerning Caitlin Snow. Like if Ronnie was somehow captured by the military and Cait does everything she can to get him back and then she somehow goes meta-human and it enhances her 'evil' and she becomes Killer Frost...hence why Robbie/Ronnie wouldn't be on anything for a bit
ReplyDeleteI sense after TTP flopped,The creatives are skeptical to add Robbie as one of the main leads in the spin-off.Let's be honest,if they wanted to keep him on this show, they could've made up any reason. If a dead person(read-sara)can join the cast,so could robbie. It's a clear case of CW not taking a risk which makes no sense to me since they recycle actors all the time in their shows!
ReplyDeleteAs for him being a series regular in The Flash next season theory, that sounds more impossible by every passing week.
If Ronnie dies..
ReplyDeleteYou've gotta work on those Mac.
ReplyDeleteI don't get this. Huge thing with Robbie arc wise and now what either he's dying, Jason will join Firestorm, or Ronnie will be able to become Firestorm by himself?
ReplyDeleteWell Firestorm's not really an elemental though he just transmutes things and has nuclear energy.
ReplyDeleteI believe at one point in the comics he was revealed as the element of fire.

In the 'An Elemental Change' section.
I could see them changing reality by having Barry save his mother.
ReplyDeleteYeah Flashpoint if it did happen would affect a lot more than just that though. Decent way to bring Sara back actually. He'll either fail in saving her, or have to stop himself from saving her in the end.
ReplyDeletehavent seen that film yet "the duff" but i hear critics love them.
ReplyDeleteThe particular reason could be that he already signed as a regular on the Flash and they won't reveal it by the end of the season.. this doesn't have to be bad news for his character..
ReplyDeleteI think it is very obvious that he is joinjng the flash permanently at the end of the season, which is why he does not go to the spin off. They are building him and caitlin up big time, i dont think they would want them permanently split in two different shows
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the spinoff and lack of Raymond announced BEFORE The Duff was released? Also, I'm fairly certain that The Duff was filmed before he joined The Flash. So if what your saying is true, I doubt he would have joined The Flash at all. Basically, I'm pretty sure you're wrong haha.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Danielle Panabaker say something at Paley Fest about becoming her comic book alter ego sooner rather than later? Maybe Robbie dies and she goes darkside. Goodness knows she needs some life to her role. But it seems like a crying shame to ditch Robbie Amell so quickly. He's perfect for this demo and he's got a history working with Berlanti.
ReplyDeleteI think Ronnie and Jason will become Firestorm together in Flash after Barry changes the past and Martin Stein will be a professor and a tech advisor in the new show.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they going to do the Killer Frost/Firestorm thing full steam ahead on The Flash. Danielle and Grant insinuated there are big changes coming for Caitlin.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is Barry changes the past and now the Firestorm is made up of Ronnie and Jason Rush. Martin Stein will be the professor who worked on Firestorm and he will go to the new show as a tech adviser and developer.
Looks like they are going full steam ahead with the Killer Frost/Firestorm thing on the Flash. Both Danielle and Grant insinuated there are big changes coming for Caitlin in the last half of the show.
ReplyDeleteMy theory is Barry changes the past and now Firestorm is made up of Ronnie and Jason. Martin Stein developed Firestorm matrix. He will then leave to the new show where he will be the tech adviser/developer.
Some people seem disappointed, but i am very happy about this. I am sorry but i think he is terrible actor. one of the absolute worst. He was the reason i did not enjoy TTP as much as i expected to.
ReplyDeleteI also pray he won't become regular in The Flash
I agree. But I think he was way better on The Flash than on TTP. Just don't give him any emotional scenes. Good eye candy though.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was better too, until he started using his powers. Every time he uses his powers his facial expression is the worst
ReplyDeleteContracts?
ReplyDeleteI want Robbie to become a regular on The Flash. I'm enjoying the Firestorm story so much plus I want Barry to have another superhero to help him. Also I won't be watching the spinoff so if he joined it I'll lose Firestorm.
ReplyDeleteI'm cool with anything that keeps him on The Flash.
ReplyDeleteYes?
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly Ronnie and Dr. Stein will become separate entities and that will led the way for Ronnie Raymond andJason Rusch's Firestorm. They will become the regular Firestorm on The Flash.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile Dr. Stein will led the Team in the spin-off just like Wells does in The Flash(just a good version of him xD), helping The Atom, Static, Booster Gold and Wonder Girl(Caity Lotz' new character) fight crime in Midway City or Bludhaven or Ivy Town.
Oh it was one of those joke implied bad things will happen.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss the banter. That I still didn't fully get to see.
ReplyDeleteWell that just sucks completely.
ReplyDeleteI know, I wanted to know what they were and see if I can help lol
ReplyDeleteSure you can help ensure the digging of their own graves.
ReplyDeleteJust say the word and I'll provide the shovels.
ReplyDeleteI'll get the gun.
ReplyDeleteVictor Garber and Robbie had great snarky chemistry. I'll miss the banter too.
ReplyDeleteNope, The Duff was released last february. Keep in mind that the range of a theatrical release is considered months before the release though. So Robbie knew the movie was going for a wide-international release when he took the part on the Flash.
ReplyDeleteAnd given that the spin-off appears to have been a rather quick decision (no pilot, straight to series order) I doubt that there was too much time in there for Robbie. Maybe he joins later the way Purcell did today.
In every actors career there's a point you've got to decide if you take the movie route or the TV route. TV pays well but you've got to work rather hard while doing big screen exploits is less work but equally as much (if not more) pay (for example: Lizzie Caplan spent 5 days on Sonys "The Interview" and cashed a $100.000,00 paycheck).
I get WHY he's holding out, there's a chance his career might go into the safe movie direction
