  2. Ugh. I'm so over Stefan having to feel guilty about Caroline's decisions. He needs to get out of her life and get a life of his own.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Caroline made a conscious decision to flip her switch. That's not Stefan's fault. Did keeping his stoic mouth shut help matters? No. Still not his fault though.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Amen. Now tell that to the writers!

    ReplyDelete
  5. He thinks every bad that happens in mystic falls is his fault somehow, why should this be any exception? It's classic stefan-Blaming himself and whining.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, Stefan has always been a little self-absorbed that way.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Okay?? But what about Bonnie and Damon and his mother?

    ReplyDelete
  8. That's the main storyline for this episode-they're not gonna spill the beans on that!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Stefan always feels guilty over everything - it'd be weird if he stopped, lol. But in this case, it is too much.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I used to love him earlier but now-don't care for him.He can go/stay-doesn't matter to me anymore. The writers have successfully destroyed the character this season!

    ReplyDelete
  11. self-absorbed
    adjective

    1.
preoccupied with one's own thoughts, emotions, life, etc

Seeing as how he's the exact opposite of that, you need to think up a different word.

  12. Omggggg, my heart is broken. Stefan don't ask Elena shit! She knows nothing! This episode screams Ian. The rave alone screams Ian. Seriously, Elena's going to make this worse. Just go deal with Bonnie please. Let Stefan handle this. Actually no, Damon can help Bonnie, Stefan can help Caroline, and Elena can sit in the corner with Ms. Cuddles.

    ReplyDelete
  13. No offence to Ian, but those must've been rather lame raves he's been to...

    ReplyDelete
  14. every time I watch anything with the "writers" I can't help think how delusional they are.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Saying it doesn't make it true, Aydrian. If it were then he wouldn't have automatically made Caroline's tragedy about him.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's more self-loathing and blaming himself for everything, than self-absorption.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't think the character is ruined at all. If anything, Stefan has been the character who has changed the least over the 5.5 seasons of TVD.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well Caroline heavily hints in 6x15 that if he said the right thing he could've prevented it. So I can see why Stefan blames himself

    ReplyDelete
  19. When Damon went on a murder spree last season he didn't blame himself. He maybe blamed Enzo somewhat, but he didn't put it all on him. Same with Elena in S4 - he blamed that on Damon who used the sire bond to force her to turn it off, not himself.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Honestly at this point he's one of the few not destroyed characters left to me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's all part of the same thing. He makes things that aren't about him into something that is, then he incessantly blames and punishes himself for it. He's been doing it since the show started. It's one giant inseparable ball of dysfunction.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He would have found a way to do that anyway. This is Stefan we're talking about after all.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Except he didn't do that with Elena's humanity, or any of Damon's murder sprees. Yes Stefan's has a hero complex, blames himself for a lot of things, but the dude has a massive point. He's incredibly close friends with Caroline, was with her throughout the entire process of her mom's illness and death, and she herself again admitted if he said the right thing he could've stopped it. It's pretty valid as a point. Saying he'd do it anyway doesn't take away from that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. He didn't have to do that with Elena. There was no room to blame himself. He stood there and watched Damon use the sire bond to flip her switch. There's no wiggle room for blame there.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Offense* sorry. lol

    ReplyDelete
  26. True that, but although I cannot quote multiple examples from memory at this point, feeling guilty seems like one of Stefan's characteristics - the one example I clearly remember was him blaming himself over Damon becoming a vampire, even after Damon specifically told him not to.

It was a different level of involvement though, that's why I said it's too much in this case - especially since it implies that Caroline turned it off just because Stefan didn't say the right thing, like she's that unstable.

Then again, unstable seems to be the writers' formula for lasting romance... damnit.

    ReplyDelete
  27. When did she admit it? Elena asks her that and she said nothing, IIRC.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Damnit, I always wrote offense, and then recently got told it's actually offence, so I went with that even though autocorrect was underlining it.

Then again, I also got told that it's learned and dreamed not learnt and dreamt.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes for the blood goatee!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wouldn't let Elena around Ms. Cuddles until Bonnie gets her magic back from it. Just to be safe.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ok, umm no? Lol It's with an S not C. with the other words, it's all used for past tense, but we use learned. Same goes for dreamed, we use that. (You an say learnt or dreamt, but it's rare. I use it once in a blue, I just know how/when to use it).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Be safe from what?? Elena doesn't know magic, and if she did she couldn't use it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think she did though. When Elena asked her if Stefan's response had been different she didn't tell Elena that she would have turned it off anyway, so it did look like Stefan was the reason and I hate that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Be safe from Elena potentially losing the bear, destroying it, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ha! I checked - offence is UK English, so I was totally right! :P

    ReplyDelete
  36. But she didn't confirm it - the episode made it unclear when exactly Caroline started planning it, it might've been when Damon told her it would only get worse.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well I'm American, so it's with an S. And it's most commonly spelled with an S. Which is probably why you're autocorrect even said it was wrong. LOL Even you're phone told you that was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't want to get snarky about it but you just made fun of somebody's spelling while spelling "your" as "you're"... ;)

I learnt British English, hence when autocorrect (on my computer, not phone) tells me that I should spell "center" not "centre", I usually ignore it. And the person who told me it should be with a C is Scottish, so apparently for them that's still the standard.

    Ultimately, does it matter though?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I didn't make fun at all. I corrected the spelling. Not made fun of you b/c you spelled it incorrectly. I don't like misspelled words. (ocd). As for MY mistake, that was quick texting. But i always correct myself, (if need be) which i did, right away. (though this site has a delay) And it kinda does matter. There's always someone that's going to correct you on your spelling if you continue to use it in that manner. Just glad it was me, and not someone else you don't get along with.

    ReplyDelete
  40. and would you want them to?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Of course not.Don't mind me,i'm still bitter after that horrible episode i just watched of TO.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Exactly stop blaming him, blame the writers.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Only if you ignore the fact that it's with good cause. The simple fact of the matter is that he's right, if he had been honest with her she probably wouldn't have flipped that switch.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have to make do with stefan since i have to see him(His non-existent SL) every episode, not the writers.LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  45. well you can see two people to blame in this very video so start here xD.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm so done with this hate! He blamed himself when Elena turned it off too!! Exact words of them;

He did it with Elena's humanity too!!

Elena: Why do you care what I do and who I kill?

Stefan: Because it's my fault you're like this. I brought this into your life. I've killed hundreds. I live with that. I'm not gonna live with the people you kill or what that'll do to you.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm not ignoring it. I'm acknowledging the fact that good intentions don't count for much. Stefan isn't responsible for Caroline's decisions. And let's not split hairs here. It was a decision. She didn't flip her switch in a moment of weakness. She planned it. That is in no way shape or form on Stefan but he took the flimsiest rationale to spin it that way.

    ReplyDelete
  48. And again Damon's mother is Stefan mother too right? Is Stefan aware that is mother is still alive? Is he going to participate in that SL?

    ReplyDelete
  49. He is going to meet with his mother in episode 19.Go figure!

    ReplyDelete
  50. He tends to blame himself when the people he loves gets hurt. That has little to do with being self absorbed and more to do with him making unreasonable demands on himself. They all have their flaws, this is Stefan's.

    ReplyDelete
  51. he there you go. xD

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, I touched on that earlier. He puts things on his shoulders he shouldn't and mercilessly punishes himself for it but none of that happens without being at least somewhat self-involved, which he is.

    ReplyDelete
  53. So Ms. Caroline the little control freak that she is...completely cleaned out her Mom's home like Dr. Seuss scrooge on Christmas eve - "all that was left was some hooks and some wire" - man I should have seen this one coming. I wonder what obsessive/ compulsive Caroline will do next?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Is this the Stefan Man-Pain you had referenced in a previous post? Wait to you see the Clip with Damon digging up his mothers grave - both Salvatore boys seem to be going through this Man-Pain downward spiral.

    ReplyDelete
  55. No I would say that fits Stefan perfectly - writing in diaries for years - preoccupied with one's own thoughts...emotions...life...etc...Yep, that is Stefan

    ReplyDelete
  56. By that broken as hell logic anyone who writes or thinks about their life at all is self-absorbed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Not sure about that, he went through some really messed up stuff in 3, and a decent amount in 4 and 5. It's more just compared to Caroolin, Damon, Elena (and maybe Bonnie thanks to six) he's done less. Considering most of the characters changes don't go well it's probably good he's still really similar. He seems more sarcastic though and less heroic compared to earlier stuff, and thank God less Elena obsessed. But i'd say Matt has gone though the least. Literally all he is, is a washed up jock whose just slightly more cynical and jaded. Plus he's useless.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lol. Oh, come on Graydon. Everyone knows Matt doesn't count. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  59. at least with Elene it made sense, now they make his whole world revolve around Caroline.
can the writers make Stefan any more pathetic?

    ReplyDelete
  60. With Elena it made sense??? What??? Stefan brought this into everyones life, including Caroline! Blaming himself for Caroline's humanity is as much stupid as blaming himself for Elena's humanity. Neither makes more sense than the other. Stefan always blames himself for every stupid fucking thing. That's his character since the very beginning. It's annoying but that's who he is. In season 5 when Elena dumped Damon and Damon turned into vamp ripper and went spiral he blamed himself too!! But Caroline warned him!

Stefan: I shouldn't have let him go.

Caroline: Uh no no no!! You are not turning Damon's roosting chickens into a Stefan Salvatore guilt trip.

If you can't process the fact that Stefan's world revolves around Caroline and if it doesn't make sense to you you should consider rewatching whole show. Stefan was always like this, what was different in the past that Elena's storylines were different.

    ReplyDelete
  61. How likely is it that Stefan's transformation will be to "Human"?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I get the feeling that the MF Gang will not be working as hard to get Caroline's humanity back like they did for Elena. Stefan / Damon combined forces to bring Elena back, Caroline, Bonnie, Matt, all involved in trying to get Elena to turn her humanity switch back on. With Caroline, it appears Stefan is the only one truly fighting to bring her back. Not sure what that does to the story line - will it be better in showing deeper character development between Stefan and Caroline? Or will it just be a uninteresting back story?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I need Damon to give Stefan his brilliant speech back in season 1 to Stefan again. Or better yet, record it and play it to him every freaking day. "You brood too much. Everything that happens on this planet is not your fault. My actions, what I do, it's not your fault. I own them. They belong to me. You're not allowed to feel my guilt."

    ReplyDelete
  64. Stefan does always blame himself for things, but it does make sense with what the writers have set up with this shows explanation of what happens when vampires are created. Stefan told Caroline in the woods in season 2 that all of her human tendencies to be a control freak had been enhanced and amplified when she became a vampire. He also said he had cared deeply for people as a human. If they were hurting he felt their pain. He felt guilty if he was the one who caused it. If as a vampire these feelings were magnified several times over, It makes total sense that he would feel guilt over anything he thinks he could be responsible for, even if he didn't directly cause it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yea, that sucked when Damon forced Elena to turn off her emotions.... At least Caroline got to make her own decision..... HI Gwennie...:))

    ReplyDelete
  66. Good point Bruce. Why is he even here? He's as useless as garlic against vampires, and is basically a wet blanket.

    ReplyDelete
  67. 2 reasons I can think of:
1.) Tyler needs Matt and vice versa so they both have someone to complain to, especially now that Jeremy is gone.
2.) Enzo needs someone to pick on while he's avoiding the rest of the cast.

    ReplyDelete
  68. She even took the thank you notes! hahahahaha! I love Caroline, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  69. "Actually no, Damon can help Bonnie, Stefan can help Caroline, and Elena can sit in the corner with Ms. Cuddles."

Now this is how the rest of the season should go like, LOL... Even though perhaps Elena should do something more harmless, perhaps doing her nails as someone here has already suggested... Or maybe enjoying some spa days?

Poor girl, the last time she had some actual storyline was when she got the mind-wipe... And even that was some very bad decision making on it's own, haha...

    ReplyDelete
  70. If the cure comes into play again and Caroline turnes Stefan into the ripper again they could give him the cure to stop him from killing. But would they do that without being sure if Katherine aged faster because of the cure or because Silas sucked it out? I doubt they would take that risk..

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think Bonnie and Elena will try to help Caroline too. And I read even Damon is going to help.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yea he should record that and listen to it every night like a self help tape haha

    ReplyDelete
  73. "Poor girl, the last time she had some actual SL was when she got the mind wipe." Ugh. Please don't remind me. I'm still not over that. As a hardcore DE shipper, that pains me like no other. That will forever sting me til she gets it back, IF she gets it back. Heavy Sigh. That really goes down as a low for me with TPTB. Smh. So disappointed about that.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I absolutely understand - at that point I still was (mainly) a DE shipper and it felt horrible... And even though I understand why Elena did it and all, it still kind of feels like a betrayal to Damon for me, even more so that part where she already knew about the mind wipe but she was like "whatever, I can get the memories aaaanytime I want to" :-/ And like you say, I hope she gets the memories back but it will forever be disappointing.

I mean I get that this allowed them to play with delena more, deal with the "can they fall in love all over again?" and mostly give them some happy time together without their constant fighting over whether they are toxic or not, but still - sigh... And when she gets the memories back, won't it be pretty much like in the end of season 5 again?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm all for Stefan getting the ticket back to human.... It's what he always wanted......... If Elena comes along that's just another piece. Her redemption is not coupled with 'Stefan's

    ReplyDelete
  76. It's possible - I mainly hope that they give her her memories back and solve their relationship problems/status in this season, i.e. season 7 won't open with them again talking about whether they should break up or not, LOL

But if Damon ever felt like he doesn't deserve her, she's too good for him and loves him more than she should, then he doesn't have to worry anymore, sigh... IMHO at this point he definitely loves her more than she loves him (with her betraying him and admitting that she probably wouldn't choose him if she wasn't a vampire) :(

    ReplyDelete
  77. dream..d..r...e ..a ..,m.......dream, dream, dream...Are ya singing.... Elena loves someone she can't remember.... really?

    ReplyDelete
  78. I honestly think that whole thing is over. She knows what he wants, He knows what he wants. That whole thing is over. It's just them now. No worries. = )
