16:03 - Empire - Hulu gets Exclusive Streaming-Video Rights
The entire first season of Fox hit drama “Empire” is now on Hulu, under a pact with Twentieth Century Fox Television giving the Internet TV site exclusive subscription video-on-demand rights to the show.
The deal makes Hulu Plus the exclusive SVOD home to “Empire,” which follows the tumultuous events of a family dynasty in the music biz. Under the multiyear pact, all future episodes of “Empire” will be available on Hulu Plus one day after broadcast on Fox.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. But “Empire” surely sold into the SVOD market for a pretty penny, given its high profile and ratings success. Among TV shows, the biggest subscription VOD licensing deals recently have come in just under $2 million per episode, which is what Netflix paid for NBC’s “Blacklist” and Fox’s “Gotham.”

13:33 - Empire - Season Finale - Danny Strong on Cliffhanger and Season 2
DEADLINE: You promised no cliffhangers last week, Danny, no “Laura Palmer,” and yet you ended Season 1 with Lucious Lyon arrested, in jail and promising “Game time, bitches.” How is that not a cliffhanger?
Fox's "Empire" ATAS Academy Event - Red CarpetSTRONG: Well, I guess it is a cliffhanger. Our showrunner Ilene and I co-wrote Episode 12 together and I didn’t really view it as a cliffhanger because for me, it was the fact that we resolved Lucious’ ALS this season and who was going to inherit the empire. That’s sort of what I was referring to when I said no Laura Palmer.
DEADLINE: So Lucious isn’t dying, he’s just watching his IPO sink and the company stock collapse from inside a cell?
STRONG: Well, but that’s a new twist. Yeah, it’s a cliffhanger.
DEADLINE: Yes it is and it made me think of how Lee Daniels has talked about wanting to bring Empire back to the street and look at the ghetto and poverty today in Season 2. Is that what we’re seeing some of in the finale? Is there going to have to be a rebuild for Lucious both personally and for the actual company?
STRONG: You know, I can’t answer that question because, A, we only have vague notions for next season. I mean, we were just discussing it, and B, we’re just starting to break the season right now. So I’m just not so crazy about talking about what we’re doing next season because the process is literally just beginning. As for going back to the ghetto, that’s just Lee. He’s not afraid to censor himself or his thoughts, but we’re still just in the very early stages of starting to break the next season now.

09:34 - The 100 - Jason Rothenberg talks "Bellarke"
"We will have to stay tuned to see where we'll see them next season, but it's pretty clear at the end of this episode that Bellamy is stunned by her choice," executive producer Jason Rothenberg tells E! News. "He was hoping that they'd finally be able to now come home and have some sort of normalcy. They've made it! They're back! 'Let's go have a drink,' he says, before he realizes she's not coming in."
Rothenberg explains that even though Clarke has left Bellamy, and Bellamy let her go with a kiss on the cheek and a "May we meet again," that doesn't mean their connection is gone too.
"It's clear to me that these two people have come to need each other and respect each other and love each other on some pretty deep level," Rothenberg says. "Obviously it's not romantic, certainly for Clarke anyway, and it's never been vocalized that it is for Bellamy either. You could read as much as you want in their body language and their eyes, but that's something that is being put off again as a result of Clarke's walkabout."
Now put down your pitchforks, The 100 fans, Rothenberg isn't done!
"But you know what, the truth is that I'm not deliberately toying with [Bellarke]! It's just the story that we're telling now," he promises. "If it makes sense at some point, it will happen. If people really want it right now, the Bellamy/Clarke thing, I highly, highly recommend that they read the books. It's in the books! It's a very tense part of the books. If you want that right now, you can get it. At some point, the show will give it to you too, but for now, it's not there."

07:20 - MOVIES: Dredd 2 - Alex Garland Says That Dredd 2 Is Not Going To Happen
1) Yesterday we were taking part in a small roundtable interview for Ex Machina, the movie that Garland wrote and directed, and someone asked about Dredd 2. Here's what Garland said:
"There isn't, as far as I can tell, going to be a Dredd sequel. The basic mechanics of film financing say that if you make a film that loses a ton of money, you're not going to get a sequel. And that's basically what happened.
And I understand and appreciate the support the film has had, and the campaigns that have existed for it, and it's really genuinely gratifying — I love it in all respects except one, which is when I hear about people buying copies of the DVD in order to boost sales and to change the figures. And what I want to say to them is, "Don't do that. Keep your money." Because the people that are making the decisions are much colder and harder than that. And the graphs they're looking at are not really going to be sufficiently dented by that.

About The SpoilerTV Daily Newsreel
Every day 100's of items are submitted to us and we don't always have the time to make separate posts for the news and/or there is so much that it would quickly push all other items off the homepage.
So a result we've come up with the idea of the Newsreel, which will feature smaller shows and news items as they happen.
There will be a new Newsreel each day, and as news is added we will update the post and and push it back to the top of the site so that you can see that new items have been added. A tweet of the item will also be sent to our @SpoilerTV account.
New Items will be listed at the top of the article.
