The Returned - Julie - Advance Preview

The Returned, “Julie,” was directed by Charles Martin with the teleplay by Raelle Tucker. Martin’s other credits include Skins, Wallander, and Being Human. Given the title of the episode, I was expecting to learn a lot more about Julie (Sandrine Holt), but the episode follows Simon (Mat Vairo) and Camille (India Ennenga) too.

We do learn some interesting things about Julie in this episode. She does have a past with Nikki (Agnus Bruckner). We see both of them in the flashback to seven years ago that opens the episode. Julie is still protecting Victor (Dylan Kingwell), but nosy neighbor Annie (Jill Morrison) seems determined to cause trouble.

Tommy (Kevin Alejandro) has a big secret of his owm. Rowan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) receives two more visits from Simon. Simon also meets Peter (Jeremy Sisto). Peter has some pretty interesting things to say and reveals he may know more about what is going on.

We learn how Simon died and how Helen Goddard (Michelle Forbes) died as well. Someone else returns from the dead as well – Tony’s (Aaron Douglas) brother Adam (Rhys Ward).

Camille and Lena (Sophie Lowe) both continue to struggle with Camille’s return. Jack (Mark Pellegrino) suggests that they should move in order to give Camille a chance at a new life. Jack and Claire (Tandi Wright) grow closer. Lena develops a mysterious cut on her back. Camille goes on two outings.

Here are just a few lines from the episode:

“Why are you burying my wolf?”
“I wanted to be a teacher when I was a kid.”
“I want you gone.”
“I was kind of a screw up, wasn’t I?”
“A long time ago, I knew someone like you.”

This is another well acted episode with lots of creepy thrown in. Don’t forget to tune in to watch Monday night on A&E at 10/9c.
