The Originals - They All Asked for You - Review

Mar 14, 2015

The Originals is back. Klaus and Elijah met Freya, who has awoken Mikael and took down Finn. Hayley and Jackson spend their honeymoon taking care of Hope. Rebekah is reunited with Marcel and finds out she’s in the body of a serial killer. Elijah and Gia made music together. Klaus is, as usual, up to something.

Best takedown: If only Freya had been around last season, all that trouble with the witches and the werewolves would’ve lasted less than a day rather than months. I’ve seen a lot of hate towards Freya, but I love her. I don’t even care what side she’s on. Her takedown of Finn was swift and simple, without any bloodshed. She loves her brother but knew he took things too far and decided to remove him from the situation. Finn will undoubtedly be back, but I do believe this could be the end for Yusuf Gatewood as Finn.

Best performance: I was impressed by Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Rebekah this week. There were several moments where the thought “Oh, that was such a Claire move.” went through my head. Even though I will never love anyone as Rebekah as much as I love Claire, Maisie is doing a pretty great job. I’m curious to see what she does with this storyline. (More on that later.)
Favorite relationship: Last episode we had a reunion between Freya and Finn, this week she was reunited with her father. I find their relationship very interesting. Her ‘death’ is what supposedly changed him all those centuries ago. So I want to know if having her back will change him again (for the better) or if he’s too set in his ways to change. I’m very excited to see their relationship grow. And I demand flashbacks!

Best storyline: I’m assuming the Dahlia storyline won’t kick into gear until season 3, so for now I’m actually excited about the Rebekah storyline. Either Kol did not do his homework when he put Rebekah into Eva, or he figured he’d get rid of a serial killer while he was at it. Regardless, it’s caused some problems for Rebekah. Not only does most of the witch community hate her, or at least the person they think she is, but Eva doesn’t seem to go down quietly. I hope they won’t have to go find another body for Rebekah because, as previously stated, I like Maisie. (But I’m assuming that won’t happen because then the writers won’t have an excuse to not put Rebekah back in her own body.)

Best ‘I smell trouble’ scene: As usual, Klaus is up to something. But I’m having trouble figuring out what exactly his agenda is. Why would he go behind Hayley and Jackson’s back, but then ask for the exact same thing. Any theories?

Prediction: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jackson will not make it past this season. At least not unless he suddenly gets a big storyline. I just don’t see why the writers would keep him around. Especially not now that Aiden seems to be taking on more of a leading role in the pack.
Best quotes
Klaus: “Well, if it’s my applause you seek, you shouldn’t have dashed off in a bloody huff.”
Marcel: “There she is.”
Freya: “Esther gave me away. She is nothing to me. Let her rot.”
Mikael: “My beautiful Freya. My daughter.”
Rebekah: “My name is Rebekah Mikaelson. And I know the antidote to jimson weed.
Gia: “I hate Beethoven.”

That’s it for this week. Check in again next week for a new review and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.

  1. I realise it's a bit short, there were other things I wanted to discuss but I don't yet know how I feel about them. I tried to stay away from ships, didn't want to start a shipwar.

  2. I feel like they still have a ways to go to change Mikael in any believable way, as I doubt Freya being alive change his feeling about Klaus or Hope. They've been nothing but enemies for heir entire lives, even before Mikael knew his heritage. It just would not be believable, if Freya changes him over a few episodes.

  3. At least this show does not make to easy for ships to rule everything like they normally do, as the writers could have easily done that if they intended to do so.

  4. Klaus likes to control things. He can't control Hayley and Jackson in using the wolves to his advantage. Therefore, he's seeking Aiden out to be that leader, with the underlying reason being so he can control how they are used through Aiden owing him.

  5. I wont say how I feel about Jackson and Haley. I am on the other ship lets just say but I am not against Gia and Elijah either. Thought it was an interesting episode and I always thought that Elijah was the oldest but I guess not. dahlia scares me and I fear for hope she needs to show some of her powers. I wonder how this season will end. I don't like Jackson so I agree about him and I like Aiden better than him. Klaus is always up to something

  7. someone said that the actress that plays Dahlia got cast on Plec's new show so she won't probably won't last past this season

  8. thank you for not talking about THOSE scenes

  9. honestly Aiden SHOULD be the leader

  10. I love Elijah with Gia

  11. Klaus is just playing him and aiden is playing right into that trap like a stupid person.Jackson will die, there's no doubt regarding that but something tells me aiden isn't that safe either. As soon as jackson gets out of the way, klaus could take aiden out for all we know-He is a master manipulator and i expected aiden to use more brain.Looks like that's not the case here!

  12. I shared that info.Just like kai on TVD,Dahlia's arc on TO will be short.

  13. I liked freya and michael's reunion very much, rebekah was great.Other than that, this was a pretty bad episode IMO.Hayley-Jackson consummation & elijah-Gia hookup(Are you kidding me,writers?) in one episode is too much to digest, even for me!
    Next week sounds very promising!

  14. oh ok it was you? yeah it's surprising though isn't it? she's been built up as the Big Bad for so long and to find out that she's just an antagonist is surprising

  16. The Originals' version of a Boogeyman

  17. you realize it's a weird day in the world when a baby crying is weird? LOL when i heard Hope crying i said that's so weird because she basically NEVER cries. A baby crying is normal but it's NOT normal when Hope Miklaelson cries HA!

  18. As much you and most of the people out here are out to prove jackson is not a good guy, hence the title stalker,he really is a decent guy. It's another thing his character is bland and boring.

    ReplyDelete
  19. what is Plec's new show?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Agreed.

Hayley was not helping Klaus in his objective and so he went around her.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What are you talking about

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yea Klaus is up to something. I like Aiden cant stand Jackson

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yea I thought she would stop that boring sex scene but I guess not There was no lust and no chemistry

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't mind Elijah and Gia but I am a Elijah and Haley fan. But I figure Haley does it why not Elijah. I am glad that they did not make Elijah mope around but I will still have faith

  25. The Haley and Jackson scene was boring there is no chemistry no romance, you know who I ship but I did not mind the Elijah and Gia scene don't blame her. But her zipper was not stuck reminds me of Katherine I have no ideal what they are going to do with this storyline jeously theme

  26. I love kai but he shouldn't overstay his welcome!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I expected gia to seduce elijah but he knows better. He really fell for that zipper stuck crap-he's so classy-gia is no match for a guy like him,no offense. She can find some werewolf to hook up with for all i care, just leave him alone.I didn't mind her earlier but now i hate her so much.Does that make sense at all?

  28. definitely, i'm still peeved that he's basically an ally. We finally had our first unredeemable psychopathic HUMAN and now he has emotions and is probably in love with Bonnie

    ReplyDelete
  29. you know THOSE scenes, the ones that made every Haylijah fan either cry or gag or punch through the TV screen

    ReplyDelete
  30. i like him too but you know we were promised an unredeemable villain and they turned him redeemable

    ReplyDelete
  31. it's a movie? no it's a show

    ReplyDelete
  32. He's definitely repenting for his horrible deeds and particularly what he did to bonnie but it's a stretch to assume he's in love with her.As for the redeemable portion,i told everyone from the beginning that no matter what julie and her team say, they would go back on their words given the right opportunity. When the merge was announced to be happening so early on episode 12,i didn't understand the significance-once it happened, everything was clear as day.Killing luke was the idea in order to redeem kai-what a unique twist!

  33. According to IMDB it is a TV Movie.

Erickson is the young Dahlia....the older Dahlia is not in any productions.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i just saw the scene and he DID call her Bon so maybe has feelings for her, i was hoping you were wrong about the show redeeming Kai

    ReplyDelete
  35. huh i guess we'll find out soon

    ReplyDelete
  36. Deadline source is pretty legit. It's a show, not a TV movie.Plec has said it's a potential series in various of her interviews.IMDB listed it under wrong category. They have been wrong before.

  37. Trevor St. John & George Young also joins the pilot, while Chris Wood, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, David Gyasi, Christina Moses, Kristen Gutoskie and Claudia Black were previously cast.(Total 8 series regulars)

    ReplyDelete
  38. yea I know what you mean

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yea it makes sense. I am not jumping ships but I don't mind them together. I think about what Haley is doing with Jackson so Elijah cant be blamed. But yea Elijah is classy and I thought Gia was taking advantage because Elijah is still hurting I still want Elijah and Haley to be endgame so I am not sure where Elijah and Gia would go storyline wise. Elijah is my favorite and I don't want him to het hurt and Elijah loves Haley. Who would you want him with and why do you hate Gia. I will admit kind of forced and did not see it coming. Maybe she can hookup with Jackson later on

  40. Realistically-Endgame couple-Klaus-Cami,Marcel-Rebekah,Davina-Kol(Resurrected)& Elijah-Hayley(TBH-He is way too good for her).I love Josh but i'm pretty sure one of them/both of them will the dust before the finale.Julie recently tweeted they killed one fan-favorite character very soon(episode 20/21 most probably-that's what they're shooting currently).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yea I like the bad ones like Enzo

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thats true I kind of like Bamon and I was always a Delena fan

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh about Kai. Someone said on Twitter that Julie said that she likes the Cani and Vincent ship I hope not I like Cami and Klaus she already ruined one of my ships

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yea we never know what is going to happen. But I do know that I want the endgame to be Elijah and Haley for a change and not Klaus and Haley. And even though I do feel that Elijah at times is to good for her and the way he has been treated lately I dont want to go there. He does love her and some people dont understand that he is different from Jackson. I do wish Elijah would open up to her more
