The Originals - They All Asked for You - Review

The Originals is back. Klaus and Elijah met Freya, who has awoken Mikael and took down Finn. Hayley and Jackson spend their honeymoon taking care of Hope. Rebekah is reunited with Marcel and finds out she’s in the body of a serial killer. Elijah and Gia made music together. Klaus is, as usual, up to something.

Best takedown: If only Freya had been around last season, all that trouble with the witches and the werewolves would’ve lasted less than a day rather than months. I’ve seen a lot of hate towards Freya, but I love her. I don’t even care what side she’s on. Her takedown of Finn was swift and simple, without any bloodshed. She loves her brother but knew he took things too far and decided to remove him from the situation. Finn will undoubtedly be back, but I do believe this could be the end for Yusuf Gatewood as Finn.

Best performance: I was impressed by Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Rebekah this week. There were several moments where the thought “Oh, that was such a Claire move.” went through my head. Even though I will never love anyone as Rebekah as much as I love Claire, Maisie is doing a pretty great job. I’m curious to see what she does with this storyline. (More on that later.)

Favorite relationship: Last episode we had a reunion between Freya and Finn, this week she was reunited with her father. I find their relationship very interesting. Her ‘death’ is what supposedly changed him all those centuries ago. So I want to know if having her back will change him again (for the better) or if he’s too set in his ways to change. I’m very excited to see their relationship grow. And I demand flashbacks!

Best storyline: I’m assuming the Dahlia storyline won’t kick into gear until season 3, so for now I’m actually excited about the Rebekah storyline. Either Kol did not do his homework when he put Rebekah into Eva, or he figured he’d get rid of a serial killer while he was at it. Regardless, it’s caused some problems for Rebekah. Not only does most of the witch community hate her, or at least the person they think she is, but Eva doesn’t seem to go down quietly. I hope they won’t have to go find another body for Rebekah because, as previously stated, I like Maisie. (But I’m assuming that won’t happen because then the writers won’t have an excuse to not put Rebekah back in her own body.)

Best ‘I smell trouble’ scene: As usual, Klaus is up to something. But I’m having trouble figuring out what exactly his agenda is. Why would he go behind Hayley and Jackson’s back, but then ask for the exact same thing. Any theories?

Prediction: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jackson will not make it past this season. At least not unless he suddenly gets a big storyline. I just don’t see why the writers would keep him around. Especially not now that Aiden seems to be taking on more of a leading role in the pack.
Best quotes
Klaus: “Well, if it’s my applause you seek, you shouldn’t have dashed off in a bloody huff.”
Marcel: “There she is.”
Freya: “Esther gave me away. She is nothing to me. Let her rot.”
Mikael: “My beautiful Freya. My daughter.”
Rebekah: “My name is Rebekah Mikaelson. And I know the antidote to jimson weed.
Gia: “I hate Beethoven.”

That’s it for this week. Check in again next week for a new review and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.
