ReplyDeleteNice casting. I was concerned about who they'd cast for this role after all the build-up but Claudia Black should do a fine job intimidating the hell out the Mikaelson family.
ReplyDeleteWasn't she the same actress who appeared in flashbacks earlier in the season, or does she just look like her? It would make sense to use the same actress because both Dahlia and Freya sleep for 100 years at a time to keep themselves from aging too much. If Dahlia is so powerful, she wouldn't want or need to change bodies. Regardless of what will be in Freya's flashbacks, my gut tells me she can't be trusted. If she's still alive then Dahlia has either been using her or getting help from her. Maybe it's a combination of both, if Dahlia is as manipulative as her sister. Someone mentioned once that both Esther and Dahlia were afraid of Mikael. Could it be possible that they were both married to him? I don't know what the Vikings thought of bigamy, but this would be a super-creepy reveal.
ReplyDeleteEsther needs to stay a vampire if there's going to be any progression of her story, but I agree that Nate Buzolic should get a chance to resume his role just to prove one way or another if Kol is redeemable as a vampire after spending time as a witch again and having that story.

while bumping Phoebe Tonkin and Danielle Campbell down to recurring characters, Hayley is currently the biggest problem the show has. It's a show about vampires and yet they devoted an entire episode to Hayleys wedding. A wedding...she can go to the swamp and live there with Jackson for all I care at this point.
Davina sadly demoted herself to second fiddle with her Kol obsession and post his death feels redundant.
I don't watch The Originals anymore but you're in for a treat with Claudia Black, she's great, I loved her in Stargate :)

The problem with Hayley is that she's given a storyline that completely exists outside of TOs style and tone.

And Jackson is about the one character I hate the most, he's uber-perfect in his behaviour but highly creepy beneath ("I've loved you ever since I could think"...ummm...yeah).
He's a terrible actor but at least his character fits TOs darker tone

I'd actually want the vampirism in Hopes body to manifest itself and forcing the body to grow to an applicable age. Klaus the compells the painfull memories away and leaves her at a mental ward where we find her two years later at the beginning of season 3. Klaus and Cami are on the run from Mikael (who now thanks to Dahlia is untouchable), Hayley is grieving over Elijahs supposed "death" (stabbed and burned by Dahlia) and keeps an eye on Hope as a nurse. But as Klaus and Cami return with Mikael as an unlikely ally the entire show gets turned around: Elijah is back only now without the red door to keep the monster in check and for the first time using both his vampirism and magical potential (a witch-pire if you will). But to survive the creature in Elijahs body needs to feast on magic, Hope being the perfect target....

It sounds good, but think they made it clear that a creature can't be witch and Vamp, cause Ws are protectors of nature, while Vamps are abominations. I would love for the show to do something different with Elijah, like turn him into a human or something.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be too sure about who will stick around and who won't. This show tends to be unpredictable, and fan and shipper campaigns appear to go ignored unless there's a legitimate reason to give people on the internet what they want. This isn't TVD. Dahlia might outlast Freya and she might not, but we know that Rebekah's spirit will be in jeopardy soon, and Klaus will get upset and start mass-murdering witches the following week. The owner of the body Rebekah is in might outlast Rebekah. There is a moral issue when it comes to the body-jumping. Any Original in a witch's body may not last the season. I also think that Marcel might get killed off by the end of the season. There are only so many stories that can be written about him before even flashbacks start getting tiresome. It looks like the writers and producers intend to bring in an overhaul of new characters next season after resurrecting so many former TVD characters proved disastrous for ratings to say the least. The werewolves are staying because they're linked to two of the three main characters, people might as well get used to it now or stop watching, but tired characters that can't do anything new could be leaving one way or another.

ReplyDeleteThe show is about the Mikaelsons, not exactly about vampires themselves. And it's been already established that they were, before all of them were turned, a family of witches.
ReplyDeleteThat's the episode with Freya's flashbacks of Dahlia. It wouldn't make sense, and it would be too confusing, to have two different actresses play Dahlia in the same episode. It would also strain the budget unnecessarily. Dahlia will first appear in flashbacks in Episode 216. No one has said for sure if she'll pop up by surprise in person at the end of the episode, but I think that would be too predictable. Since Dahlia is supposed to be a major villain going into Season 3, I don't expect her to show herself for a confrontation until Episode 221 at the earliest. No matter how powerful she is, she could already be nearby, but she will need a strategy if she intends to try to take Hope and walk away in one piece. Other stories also need to be wrapped up first. Some characters will have to be killed off and someone has to dagger Klaus before people decide never to try it again. I suspect that Dahlia will kidnap Hope, or at least try, in the season finale. Did I mention that the storyline of everyone having to protect this baby is getting tiresome? They need to either have the baby Connor out, or something else needs to be done, I don't know what. There's a reason why babies are brought into this genre only very carefully.

ReplyDeleteActually it's up to the EPs and writers to set the style and tone of the show, and an arranged marriage is very much within the style and tone of the show at this time. I'm pretty sure Hayley getting married was always the plan. What was she supposed to do, spend the entire series in a relationship with her baby's uncle? That would be too reminiscent of TVD, and even the writers know that Elijah's character deserves better treatment. Everyone is hateful about the character Jackson, but he hasn't been on the show enough yet for people to know much about him. Jackson hasn't had enough screen time yet to do anything but convince Hayley to marry him to give their clan more power. Jackson and Hayley's story as a king and queen of hybrids will probably develop into something else in keeping with the style and tone of the show, but that story hasn't even started yet. I don't understand what all of the complaining is about.

ReplyDeleteI don't know the show but am an ardent Claudia Black fan. She was also in the movie Pitch Black, and had a brief role as Pandora in Queen of the Damned (very brief). I definitely know her from Farscape, where she was an ass kicking soldier, and Stargate, where she is much more playful. Looking forward to seeing her onscreen again (she also has done a lot of video game voice work)

ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that Dahlia wouldn't show up until the end of the season, and that would make more sense, but I'm starting to hope that she shows up and gets dealt with BY the end of the season. This show has a habit of showing surprise villains in the season finale, and Dahlia has been expected for a while. One way or another, the current status quo where everyone puts their lives on hold to protect the baby- that has to change. Either Dahlia is removed as a threat and the baby becomes a recurring character who no one will bother again anytime soon, or something has to be done to get the baby off the show for good. This baby taking away from other characters' stories could be a major reason for the fall in ratings. I would never want to see something happen to a baby even on a TV show, but I'm starting to hope that either Dahlia gets killed after killing Hope in the season finale, or Dahlia kidnaps Hope and the Originals spend the first arc of Season 3 exhausting all leads until they have to accept that they'll never find her, leaving the Hope and Dahlia stories to pick up at a later time. Either way, Cami is supposed to be in college, and I'm sure Mikael, Esther, and Finn weren't brought back just to get tossed aside to make room for Dahlia. I'm sure it's also just a matter of time before none of the wolves, except for Jackson and Hayley, want to lay down their lives for a baby who will always be in some kind of danger because of her family. That story is getting out of hand. It's as bad as the love stories on TVD interfering with every other story, and the love stories themselves don't make much sense. That's why I stopped watching TVD. Hopefully TO won't lose too many more viewers over bad storytelling, too.

On one hand I don't want her to magically age without a good reason like in twilight (I can't stand twilight) but on the other hand I don't want the "protect the baby"-storyline to go on forever. Even though baby Hope is such a cutie pie.. keeping her a baby could become boring. But if they make her age faster they would need a good reason! The only time I was fine with something like that was Connor in Angel. But they don't have any hell dimensions where time runs faster in TO .. so that's not an option.
ReplyDeleteAfter Freya told Finn about her and Dahlias 100-years naps I thought that maybe Dahlia has a huge problem with aging, so she steals youth from young witches to slow it down more than normal witches can. That could be why Freya told Finn Dahlia is "hunting". And maybe it has something to do with Freya's neckless. And that could also solve the baby problem somehow. Dahlia could try to steal Hope's youth and make her age faster. But thats just a theory I was thinking about and it's very unmatured.
No, your theory makes a lot of sense. I just assumed that both Dahlia and Freya slept for 100 years at a time. Freya said that Dahlia told her it's better than an immortality spell and "it keeps us young."
ReplyDeleteI have a different theory. Dahlia hunting Mikaelson first-borns might not be about power. Dahlia and Esther seemed to have a strained relationship, and Dahlia only threatened to kill everyone if Esther became a powerful witch. There could be some jealousy, or Dahlia could be holding some kind of grudge. When Dahlia took Freya away, she said Freya was a sacrifice or had to be sacrificed, but the term doesn't only mean death. Esther just had to give up something important to her as payment for what Dahlia did for her. Dahlia might try to force Klaus to let her have the baby in some creepy adoption because Klaus wouldn't exist if Dahlia hadn't made it possible for him to be born. That would be an interesting conversation. It would be even more interesting if Dahlia isn't interested in the baby because Klaus isn't of Mikaelson blood, and Dahlia will really only show up to fulfill her promise to Esther and wipe out the entire family.
I'm interested in what happens when the two sisters are reunited. Dahlia might kill Esther permanently, or Esther might actually make another deal with Dahlia.
A REALLY good twist would be if it turned out that Esther wasn't the infertile one, and a spell had to be done on Mikael without his knowledge. Have they even addressed yet whether Mikael knows about all of this? I know that Freya and Mikael will see each other again in Monday's episode, so we'll find out then for sure just how much Mikael knew and what his relationship was with Dahlia.

ReplyDeleteI meant 2 episodes for Caroline's switch to be off. Like I don't want it any longer than that. As for Bonnie, they will concentrate on her. But me personally, I don't really care about her. (never have) Sure she "just came home" but I've been waiting to see Caroline turn off her switch since season 2, sooo that's what i'm excited for the most. Besides, Bonnie has to get caught up with everything, solve this Lily case, get through her PTSD, she's got her own problems. And out of those the only interesting thing is Lily, which really, is Damon and Stefan's problem sooo yeah. Her getting caught up on things we already know, and her trying to pull herself out of her traumatic past, isn't something I'm "jumping for joy" to see. Now if she somehow gains this badass persona, being selfish, doing her, and somehow gains a whole bunch of power, to go up against Kai. Then I'll be interested. I like her scenes with Kai a lot, and I'm hoping she can turn him back. And it's nice that she has an enemy.

Caroline,, well,, Stefan will be stepping in somewhere,, unless Caro's Darkness triggers Stefan's "Ripper" Side. I know been there done that,, but what else does he have left except the quest for his mother. If that is the case then Caro gets left by the wayside,, as usual.
I love Kai and Bonnie's (or should I say Kat and Chris') on screen chemistry. And have been waiting for them to reunite since the split. He's more fun with her anyway. Elena tries to make him boring (with all her questions, rolls eyes) while Bonnie just accepts him, and snarks back at him with his own wit. I love that. And I loved Kai, I still do, but I don't like this change with him at all. I don't want to see that. I want him back to how he was personality wise, before the merge. I have a huge theory about Steroline, that I explained last week on another thread. And the way I explained it, was pretty deep, but people were on board with my theory, and I got them excited about it, so that made me very happy. I'm very excited for Steroline right now. Excited and nervous.

ReplyDeleteI'm so behind on all my TVD/Originals gossip, spoilers, smack talk and Klaus adulation (ok Elijah, Rebecca, Bonnie and Kai too) but I just saw this pop up on the side comments.
ReplyDeleteClaudia Black as Dahlia??!! Who is the casting director on this show? Because they are killing it!! I don't think I've seen a better roster of secondary character casting on a show since like.... ever. I want to send them a fruit basket, or maybe a basket of beignets.
After not really enjoying the last few episodes all that much (Freya aside) I'm actually somewhat excited again. So happy to see Claudia back on TV, she's been missed. I need more witchy action and less werewolf drama, so I hope she'll be around for a while, stirring up coven stuff in the quarter.
First it's a pilot, so there's no guarantee the show will even get picked up. Also it's a biblical drama that's going to be shot in South Africa, it's possible they'll shoot all 10 episodes at once while she's away from The Originals.

I like Kai (Chris) very much. But,, I am not liking the gruff on his face to make him appear as if he is aging.. Unless of course the gruff was made for him to look sickly. If that's the case. Job well done, b/c he looked terrible.
Only Elijah can wear the facial gruff with his suit well,, very Well..:))
I do wonder how they are going to get Luke out of Kai's system. This confused nicety-nice bad guy stinks. I keep getting frustrated with his,, "Am I supposed to feel this way" kind of guy.
The only thing he displayed as Kai,, was touching his sister Jo when he was ill, and sucking a little magic from her. This
"I have a conscious now" is so boring,, but I guess if they don't make him this way,, he and Bonnie can't team up with Liv,, is she still around? I can't wait to see Bonnie's face when she meets this New and Improved (so they think) Kai. Looking forward to some awkward facial expressions, stuttering and disbelief. lolol
If they keep the bad guy Kai,, then it would be more exciting,, but we,, most,, like his character. so,Well see, .
I finally got to see the promo for this new witch or "Queen" witch of the Nola quarter. she has "Spooky eyes". And as usual Elijah looks wonderful. Mr. Diplomacy.:))
Same thing with my Salvatore boys. All this angelic, non Vampireish characteristics they have been displaying is nauseating.
Mattie & Bonnie,, those are the two that would have balanced each other out very well. Instead of Jeremy & Bonnie. Next time I talk with Gwen,, I'll mention it,, she'll go nuts. lol
Well, don't be mad if I don't root for the Steroline thing unless, it does in an awesome way,, not squished together like

Excellent Idea. Not caring for this Freya at all. Ahh, but will Dehlia figure it out? Remember Bex character is limited on the Witchy woo-woo stuff. lol
ReplyDeleteShe is not as proficient as Kol or Fen,, and,, is in a broken witch body. They should have let her jump into Cami,, made more sense anyway. They just wanted to keep the Australian, British accent on the show.
I will admit this character is doing a marvelous job,, but if the actress needs to move on then so does the characters SL.
I hate to say anything down trodden about the show "Aquarius",, but C.H. & N.B. (Original Kol:) are being sorely missed here.:(

ReplyDeleteI don't miss NB at all and really hope the Kol story came to an end here. We'll see if she auditioned for Pilots her departure had to be planned so I assume they have made a concreat plan for the characters along the way.

ReplyDeleteOver the Holidays it isn't too bad b/c we are busy so the Hiatus goes quickly. Summer,, were all doing our own thing and hook back up in Sept., Oct. BUt this "Spring Break" hiatus is for the birds. I don't recall this break every season,, unless I've blocked it from my mind. lolol Hence Vegas,, no S.D. was canceled and replaced with this.

Not me cliché. I meant getting hitched in Vegas is cliché. Lol (and yes what a roller coaster indeed. Lmao) my stSteroline post is in the "a bird in a gilded cage" promotional pics. The conversation iI'm having with Debra, Vinyl, and Maria. You should check it out. The scruff from Kai I believe it's b/c he's not in this prison world anymore. He's back in the real MF so he would naturally get it. I assumed it was b/c he was sick, but he shaved it off afterwards. (I think) so it's all good. It doesn't bother me too much, since he's a cutie.
ReplyDeleteHaha, yeah there will be some awkwardness between those two when they interact with the "new" him. I can't wait for it. It's going to be really funny. I can already picture Bonnie's face. Like, "wtf is wrong with him?" She'll be the voice of the audience with that one. Lol Kai, for me, he can stay til the end of this season, any longer and I won't like It. He'll be overstaying his welcome. And when he leaves I hope he takes Liv with him!!!
I'm not sure of the promo. I only watched it once (when it airI've stayed away from them (not watching over and over) b/c the hiatus alone was torture. But mostly b/c of the last episode. I was so angry about it, I was GLAD we were getting a break, b/c I needed it.
As for Matt and BonnieI NEVER wanted that for them. (A few fans did at the time of season 3) They're fine as they are. I didn't mind Beremy in the beginning, but that quickly got old for me, very quickly. And I was waiting for the day they would break up officially. I'm not mad, (nor do I get mad) that you don't like Steroline. I understand and accept that. I'm just over the anti jokes in general. (Not just you personally). It's been going on for too long, and people were making such a huge fuss about it, before anything even happened between them this season. Or before this season even started, like they didn't see it coming yrs ago. AllI want to do is enjoy my ship in peace w/o getting directly hasseled for it. Delena I can understand, I mean I've been used to it since this show started. I can easily shrug that off. But with Steroline, sure I've had patience, a lot of it actually, but now I'm over it. It's brand new, it's exciting, and they're cute as hell. And I had to wait 6 yrs for it, so yeah for them to finally have this very sweet kiss, then to have her mom die, then turn off her humanity right when Stefan figures it out, IS tortorous enough. And that's ON TOP of the 6 yr wait. I don't want the extra crap stuff from fans. weighing me down. I'm just over it. Their build up has been incredible with this series, and i honestly can't wait for what's next. Their relatinship will be the best. I truly believe that.

10. It's us Klaroliner's that stand in the way Shan. If we can't have ours,, even for a month. How can we support anything else. If they did give us what we wanted,, and it didn't work out,, most likely allegiances would transfer b/c we are Caro, & or Stefan supporters. There not writing this smart enough. We'll see soon.
