The Flash - Andrew Kreisberg Talks About That Shocking Death & More with TVLine & THR

Who is Eobard Thawne?
Wells confessed to Cisco that his real name was Eobard Thawne, and that he'd been stuck in the past for fifteen years. He called Iris' boyfriend Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) a "distant" relative, which Kreisberg confirms was not a lie.
"There's some great scenes coming up between Tom and Rick, that starts to become a storyline," said Kreisberg.
The revelation puts to rest a fan theory that Eddie might actually be Eobard Thawne (AKA Reverse-Flash and Professor Zoom), who in comic book lore is a man from the 25th century who gets stuck in our era.

What's next?
Wells had future knowledge about these characters, and will start to share some of that knowledge. Episode 17 will also flashback to the beginning of the series, and show it from different perspectives, including Wells'.
"Toward the ends of the season, a whole bunch of new questions will pop up and that will drive the series forward. Most of the questions that we proffered at the beginning of the season will be paid off," said Kreisberg.

Is Wells evil?
Kreisberg said Wells is not an "evil man" and that he even has reason to see "himself as a hero."
"There's nothing he says in that scene with Cisco that isn't the truth," said Kreisberg. "He's sorry he found out. He's sorry it has to happen, but it does have to happen and there's a scene in episode 16 which kind of mirrors this scene, that I think really speaks to that."
Cavanagh sees Wells as a man is just "trying to get home." He has genuine affection for the STAR Labs team and their mission — at least while it serves his own purposes.
"As we see in this episode, it makes it a little more heartbreaking when the next phase of the plan starts to happen," said Cavanaugh.

BREAKING THE TIME-SPACE CONTINUUM | Now that Barry has gone back in time, next week’s episode will deal with “how much of [what took place in Episode 15] still happens and how much of it might possibly change,” Kreisberg previews. As Dr. Wells pointed out previously, “there’s different versions of time travel. There’s the fixed loop and then there’s the version where time is more plastic and mutable. One of the fun things is discovering, like on Doctor Who, what’s a fixed point in time and what can’t be changed, what things always have to happen, and then what things are changeable and mutable. It’s a mixture of both.” That could spell bad news for Cisco — or good, if you look at it from the point of view of “Yay! He gets to live!” — because the episode explores “how certain events occur that prevent Cisco from following along the same trajectory” in his suspicions about Dr. Wells. Then there’s this question: Is there now a parallel universe with no Flash? “Is there?” Kreisberg replies coyly.

  1. I want to read the article but I don't want to start crying again. That scene broke my heart. The second Wells walked into the room Cisco knew he was going to die. Wells revealing that he killed Nora but he was really there to kill Barry. I knew Wells was a bad guy but I really thought that he cared for Barry. Then he told Cisco that he thought of him as a son. Carlos was amazing in that scene, his tears slayed me. Then that SOB started vibrating his hand and I knew it was coming.

  6. That whole scene from the moment Caitlin turned around in the cafe till Wells walking out of the lab shocked me. I forgot about all the spoilers of Cisco for the coming episodes. I was like that's it? That's all for poor Cisco? I was so shocked and sad.

You know what... It could be.
I mean, everyone mentioned how Wells looks like Grant, if Eddie is Barry's twin, he could "look as Barry" since it's kind in his genes?
And... They said something bout the Mandal's brothers receiving the same powers... Maybe because they were brothers??? Like someone mentioned the Hurricane Siblings? Maybe those who share a very close DNA, especially twins, might receive the same powers... Though explaining Eddie's future like the Reverse that we wall think it's coming!!
Damn, I think you got it right!!!

  14. We already knew Barry will time travel in this episode but I thought he would go to the future not the past. Then Barry saw the other Scarlet Speedster and they focused on the girl calling the taxi and the dogs barking, it was clear that this is point to which he'll go back. I became very certain that he'll go back after everybody got hurt.

  16. Ep 15 was amazing. i can't say how much i was shocked at Cisco and Dr Wells confrontation. Cisco should be alive, again. he has to be The Vibe. Andrew you did a great job.

  17. I knew when that scene happened it has something to do with time travel and Barry might go back there at some point. Then I completely forgot about that as the show went by and when Harrison Wells showed Cisco the echo of himself I thought that was what it was. I thought Barry accidentally created the echo. When Cisco died my dumb brain didn't even think for a moment the time will be reset. It's been too long I have enjoyed an episode of television so much that I forgot logic. I love Flash a lot.

  18. It's been so long since I had this kind of reaction to an episode. Usually I am armed with loads of spoilers while watching. It takes away from the experience.

  19. A lot of great grandson I guess. Has to be a direct descendant from Eddie.

  20. "It's been too long I have enjoyed an episode of television so much that I forgot logic." hahahaha. I love the Flash too. It's my favourite new show.
I think you were in shock. we all were. Seeing Cisco get killed like that was traumatizing. Maybe I didn't forget because I was excited about the time travel and I was waiting to see it. And every time another character got hurt or something new was revealed I kept expecting the time travel more.

  24. Totally loved this episode! So much going on. It was totally worth the wait. Poor Cisco; but he will live. I'm so relieved. Iris and Barry were so sweet. Happy they were able to talk about their feelings. *sigh* Loved it so much.
