Teen Wolf - Season 5 - Tyler Hoechlin is Not Returning as Series Regular

Mar 11, 2015

“Tyler Hoechlin decided he wanted more time to pursue movies. We talked and creatively agreed that maybe this was a good season to refocus on the teens of Teen Wolf, and while he won’t be a series regular anymore, I can say that you probably won’t have seen the last of Derek Hale. We love him and miss him.”

“Parrish has a major part in the whole plot of Season 5. He is a big deal. You may not find out what he is in [the first half of the season], but within the 20 episodes, you will definitely know.”

“There are some characters who will show up a little later, and a lot of that has to do with the refocus on the teenagers. So you may not see Argent [J. R. Bourne] or Peter Hale in the first few episodes, but do not count them out.”

  1. Noooooooooooooooooo. I mean, at least he'll still be on the show, but still.

  2. Are there any good news about season 5 at all??

    ReplyDelete
  3. So pretty much the entire cast wants to leave...why do they keep coming back...

    ReplyDelete
  4. WHAT???????? NOOOOOOOOOO! First Coach and now Derek? Why not kill Stiles off while you're at it!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'd actually start watching again if they killed off Stiles :P

    ReplyDelete
  6. 3b must've been pure torture for you then :P

    ReplyDelete
  7. Well Dereks journey was weird. still bumped.

  8. Lmaoooooo oh god this TW news gets worse and worse. Is anyone gonna be excited to see this season by the time it airs? Every time I've seen spoilers or interviews, no fan has been 100% happy. Oh lord I'm a masochist for watching this season .

    ReplyDelete
  9. So when exactly did you stop watching?

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's time to end it and try a spin off or write the original characters out of the show, let them do movies and pass the torch to the new cast members, god knows there's enough of them.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Okay, finished with this show... first Peter (best character), now Derek...

    ReplyDelete
  12. I stopped a few episodes into S4 and then caught up by binge watching before the finale aired, then after S4 I decided I wans't going back unless they made major changes. And they are, just all the wrong ones!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I imagine Posey and Dylan will leave after this season, of all the people they have the most to gain by leaving, I have to admire them though for sticking by their promise never to leave for this long.

    ReplyDelete
  14. NOOO :( He was the reason I watched, his character was amazing is season 1 and 2 and then Jeff Davis screwed up him

so officialy bay bay Teen Wolf for me

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sad but we all saw it coming! Lets see if the show goes back to S03l levels,

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree that season 4 was disappointing especially after 3b set the bar so high. I was looking forward to season 5 but the spoilers are killing me.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's the final season.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 3A was my favourite and it went downhill after that for me, Scott was the only reason I kept watching as long as I did tbh. I still follow and keep up with Posey but I stopped following the rest of the cast. Scott & Liam's relationship was the best part of S4 for me, I loved them together.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Did they officially announce that though?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah I read it somewhere but I really can't remember where.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I liked it too. It was nice seeing Scott as an alpha and a leader. But I also liked other aspects of the season too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Refocus on the teenagers? To be honest I always found the more 'teen' apects of Teen Wolf the least interesting. I hope that don't refocus on that awful Scott-replacement character that was introduced last season.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Not happy with this news and the fact that we won't find out what Parrish is until the 2nd half of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  24. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHY THERE BETTER BE A DAMN GOOD REASON FOR THIS

    ReplyDelete
  25. No!!!!!!!! First the coach isn't returning now this!!! Stiles and Derek are the main reasons I watch the show. I am not happy about this at all!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow they really want people to stop watching ha? If this is show is goign to be about idiotic teenagers then i'm gonna drop it really fast.

    ReplyDelete
  27. yeah, ending it would be good or wiping the slate clean with a whole new mythology, as it felt the show going downhill recently.

    ReplyDelete
  28. God dammit. Hopefully he'll be back at some point. Can't blame him though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. -Sigh-.

I predicted this in the comments of the Orny article the other day. I hate being right sometimes :(

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh schucks...We're done one Tyler.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow not even sure if it's worth watching

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hopefully they can finally get that Kira spinoff off the ground.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh my...I almost fainted. If he's not returning for Season 5, please return for Season 6. I can't handle this. Tyler H. is just about 90% of why I watch Teen Wolf!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've had that feeling lately, this show isn't going to last much longer. I'm surprised the rest of the cast hasn't announced they want to move on yet, too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, the show is about this O'Brian guy anyway

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wait, wait this show has always been about "idiotic" teenagers as you put it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Peter's still gonna be around.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oof don't see why everyone is so sad, I like Hoechlin but lets face it he was more of a pretty face than a good actor or interesting character.

    ReplyDelete
  39. nice LOL, but damn it!

    ReplyDelete
  40. and hey at least they didn't kill him off

    ReplyDelete
  41. DAMN IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. No!!! That's a shame :(

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'd like to see this show go out with a bang, and free the cast up for other things.

Then I'd like to see a "Sherlock" style spinoff with Dylan O'Brien and Holland Roden as Stiles and Lydia traveling the country being paranormal detectives, like the Warrens in "The Conjuring". Do maybe three TV movies a year, so the actors are free to make movies the rest of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Aw... :(

    Derek...
I kinda have a feeling -staying true to tradition of pretty much everyone who leaves TW- that he'll end up in a CW show instead of movies (maybe the Arrow/Flash spinoff... he could be a good match for "The Traveller")

    ReplyDelete
  45. What? Now that he just evolved and turned out to be able to fully transform, he is not returning as a series regular? NOOOOOOOOO! Ugh! I'm sad and sad and mad..

    ReplyDelete
  46. That's a bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  47. He could become a Mikaelson relative

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes! He finally evolved and become a nice werewolf and now he is leaving..

    ReplyDelete
  49. he might have considered Derek to be the only mature main character (wich from my season 1 experience I am inclined to agree with)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nope... I'm done with adding more members to that family!

    ReplyDelete
  51. replacing Caspar Zafer since he doesen't want to come back? He does kinda look like him

    ReplyDelete
  52. I read somewhere that season 5 could be there last season but it's not definite, If season 5 goes well season 6 will be there least season.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm not a fan of recasting on principle so I'm gonna say no again. And also Tyler is quite younger and looks it, so that's a double no.

    ReplyDelete
  54. yes, but with older characters that helped.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Noooooooo I do not accept this at all. He is my favorite

    ReplyDelete
  56. Derek is my favourite character, it won't be the same without him. This makes me a lot less excited about the upcoming season.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This show seems to be loosing people every season.

If the series stuck to 12 episodes, maybe they could fit into everyone's schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  58. well i m a fan of this show.
might be good for them to end the show with this season.
with dylan(stules) becoming super popular i m begining to think if they r gonna do another season it will be without stiles and i dont want that

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sad, but not surprising!

    ReplyDelete
  60. He's the reason I started watching in the first place!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I prefer for the shows I watch to evolve naturally rather than try to emulate season one again and again just because there's "Teen" in the title. That's why I was disappointed with Liam's introduction.

As for Hoechlin nothing prevents him from coming back as a recurring guest-star.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That changes pretty greatly. Scott becomes basically a incredibly moral hero who serves as a mature, responsible figure. Stiles just gets more analytical and research based, and less teeny and Alison well she takes several levels in badass emotionally and physically. And Lydia just gets really intelligent all the time. Honestly it has a surprising amount of characterization. Such a claim only works on season one really, as the characters haven't grown yet.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well, seems I have no reason to watch this stupid show anymore. Bye!

I'd rather they bring him on as an original werewolf to explore the origins of the wolves more. Jackson has mentioned some stuff but I'd like to see it explored more.

Perhaps eventually getting a summer spinoff show to bridge seasons of TVD/TO.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm starting to really feel like it may be time for Teen Wolf to wrap up. And I say this as a fan of the show. But it's time to go out with a good ending while the show is not in total chaos because it seems like a lot is constantly changing. Between the death of Allison and the lack of Argent family any more (well really on papa Argent is left), Tyler going on to other projects and doing random guest spots on Teen Wolf for now on and Dylan O'Briens career taking off more it's time for Teen Wolf to plot an exit strategy. Plus they have lost countless other cast or written them off more background characters or minor ones but still sucks to see so much of the cast gone. I miss Danny and all those characters. I will miss Coach. He rocked. I still kind of miss Allison.

Yeah I agree. I think it's time they try and get that Kira spinoff they mentioned a couple of times happening. Let the original cast move on and bring in new people.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I was actually hoping for "Vampire Diaries - Legacy" to hit the summer slot.

An anthology series showcasing the adventures or origins of one known TVD/TO character,

(Ep1: Thierrys turning, Ep2: Mikaels hunt for his children, Ep3: Kols solo adventures during season 3, Ep4: Lexis origin in a brothel, Ep5: Meredith Fell vs. vampires wherever she lives now, Ep 6: Mason Lockwoods story of coming to terms with vampirism, Ep7: Conners first hunt. All episodes are connecting through a narrative point, a villain or an object that is further explored as the season moves on)

I'm just annoyed with the werewolves at this point though, the ones we meet are either boring as hell and acted terribly (Jackson, Hayley) or interesting and dead (Oliver, Mason, Jules)

    ReplyDelete
  68. After what I've seen and heard the show has declined acting-wise (wich I would have never considered possible because let's face it: Tyler Posey is really not good....at all) and has tangled itself up in some storylines.

And while I liked Stiles the way he apparently has been turned in some super-serious character I'm not sure I could take him serious, I also struggle with taking Barry Allen serious on the Flash so I think I'm just not made for shows like that

    ReplyDelete
  69. season 5 will be having 2 parts and 20 episodes each..so according to latest interview ...season 5 is will be the last season as budget is getting high..

    ReplyDelete
  70. I had a feeling this was coming but it still hurts a lot :( Derek has been one of my favorites ever since the show began so this is such a huge loss.

    ReplyDelete
  71. NO NO NO NO NOOOO! I had a feeling something like this would happen. Ugh why is everyone leaving, i'm seriously about to be done with this show :I

  73. It's improved acting wise I'd say, a lot. Posey is no longer awful. And has some actually really well done emotional moments. He doesn't get serious he just- I'd say it but it's a huge f*cking spoiler for 3B- let's just say he does some really cool shit. I'll never get your problem with Barry Allen Mac.

  74. I will watch anyway but ugh...

oh noes, what will all the sterekstans do?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Great, at least something :D

    ReplyDelete
  77. You know, I think you have a great point. I´m afraid it will only get down from here. I also miss Allison, her death was something I didn´t get over with, I still miss her there and Kira is not doing it for me. I also miss Danny and also Isaac, Coach was nice comic relief and even Lidya is pushed to the background...maybe I am wrong and it will be good season, but I guess I´ll have to wait and see.

  78. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    ReplyDelete
  79. What?!?!?!? no no, it won´t be the same without him, the quality dropped a lot in S4, now without him, it´ll drop even more, ufff

    ReplyDelete
  80. TV shows filming schedule is so demanding they can't do anything else and a lot of these shows have quality actors. It's no wonder they want to try other things. But I just love getting to see them every week on my screen verses once in a while on the big screen. But I guess it's more profitable for them to go with the big budget films and have a shot at making it big. On all of my favorite shows I'm always like "Oh look at my favorite character. They are so good. Such a good actor." But really, I shouldn't want them to be too good, or next thing you know...there character takes a bullet to the head and they're in the next hunger games movie.

Maybe if our shows filmed more like those UK specials the actors would stick around longer. You know, shorter seasons, longer episodes and big breaks in-between. But they seem to attract really good actors because they can do movies in-between filming because of the longer breaks. I don't know if I could wait a year for a new episode though :?

  81. That sucks he is my favorite

    ReplyDelete
  82. Always hate to lose a cute guy!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Nooooo i want him in season 5
