  1. I'll say what every Sleepy Hollow fan is thinking: thank you and it's about time. New direction was definitely needed for season three. This is an encouraging sign as pending an acceptable showrunner (which should be easy to achieve) a third season will be forthcoming.

  3. If it gets a season 3, I'm sure most people will be pleased by this change.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Hopefully this means season 3 renewal is on the way

    ReplyDelete
  5. It's for the best, Goffman did write or co-write some very good episode like the S2 opener but overall S2 was a mess

    ReplyDelete
  6. Lets hope this is a huge hint at a season three renewal and not a Mark's moving on to another job cause this show is 'toast;'

    ReplyDelete
  7. Good news. Might try to watch if it's renewed. Season 2 was definitely a hot mess. We gave up on it halfway through.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Is it a good or a bad news for Sleepy Hollow's quality?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Great! Hopefully a new showrunner will give me great material to review that will also give me less grief from people when I do review haha.

  10. Aside from some small, stupid changes to the mythology (such as witches dissolving when they're dead like the vampires on Buffy, just for one example) I really enjoyed season two. Quite a bit, I really liked the darker, more serialized version of it. However... the show wrote itself into a corner and kinda fell apart, as enjoyable as it was, and I think a fresh showrunner is the show's best chance. I really just wish K&O would come back dammit!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh fans are probably gonna hate the replacement too unless he has Ichabod and Abbie making out in the season 3 premiere. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well after I heard shippers cheer over Katrina turning evil out of the blue and having been killed off alongside Henry lowered my interest heavily. John Noble was brilliant and kind of posed as the only draw for season 2. Guess fans can't wait for Ichabod/Abbie to happen now, right? Well I can....not hot on a third season tbh

    ReplyDelete
  13. They had to do this. They're going to need to show FOX some tangible positive change if they're to have any chance at another pickup.

    ReplyDelete
  14. John Noble is a wonderful actor but the decision to make Henry Parrish Ichabod & Katrina's son (not to mention all the daddy issues that came with it) completely sabotaged the character to the point there was nothing Noble could do to salvage him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. throw in a "no character hook-up" clause and I'd be all for it

    ReplyDelete
  16. Since I haven't watched most of season 2 I can't tell. However from what I heard about the finale I can pretty much tell where this is going, Arrow season 3 brah

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm confused as to why FOX want to make it more procedural when that's a large part of what made this season so bad, for me it was anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  18. With how desperate they're going to be for fan approval, I'm not sure that's feasible.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I can see that. I can see a lot of potential similarities, actually.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I don't think it's him moving on because there has been subtle hints at Goffman's leaving. First, Sleepy Hollow's shocking omission from early renewals. It was covered by the location change to Atlanta but then Goffman clearly wanted Vancouver. (I have no clue as to why). Then, during the TCAs, Goffman was absent and replaced by Len Wiseman. This was notable as Wiseman has not been a presence recently on Sleepy Hollow. Some thought at that moment Goffman was fired and replaced by Wiseman. (Which for all we know might be a possibility). The name of Erika Alexander was also brought up. Then leading up to the finale, Goffman was being not only scapegoated by FOX but changing his story into explaining his second season creative choices. A week ago, @abaiers (Aaron Baiers) wrote a cryptic tweet thanking Goffman for his two years of service. Some thought it was an announcement of the cancellation of Sleepy Hollow. I correctly decoded it as Goffman is out. Hence, today's announcement.

  21. Personally I don't care about the ships and what they did to Katrina in the season finale was so poorly written. They could have written her off in a different way. I just hope the new show runner is better because S2 was a mess. Most fans blame Katrina but if you removed Katrina the season still had many problems.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's unfortunate, I liked season 1 but the fan behaviour back then already irked me as eerily familiar.

And while I love Ichabod and Abbie I would never condone a show where these two get romantical, why? Because that kind of kills the buddy dynamic wich is pretty much all season 1 was to me

    ReplyDelete
  23. The fans on Twitter make me freakin' sick. Sorry to say it, but it's true. I am in still utter disbelief at how they actually managed to pressure the writers into nearly destroying the show. As Bruce said, they are obviously quite desperate to have [online] fan approval. I'd prefer it if they'd just write the damn story they think is best to tell and stop interacting with fans, let the stars do that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I didn't enjoy season 2 as much as I enjoyed season 1 so hopefully this is a first step towards fixing the problems the show had this season.

    ReplyDelete
  25. There definitely has to be a middle ground somewhere. The writers tried telling the story they wanted to and it was barely watchable. The way they tried to remedy things at the end of the season wasn't any better.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Victoria Llanos10 March 2015 at 21:08

As someone that loved season 1 and was exited about all the potential season 2 had, I'm going to be stepping down with him. I don't care for ships and I'm definitely not tunning into The Ichabie Show. So farewell Sleepy Hollow, although I don't foresee a bright future for you...

    ReplyDelete
  27. The networks prefer procedurals because they are terrified of losing the casual viewer who does not watch every episode. Most of the time with a procedural if you watch one out of three episodes than you can still follow the story. Personally I prefer serialized shows which is why I watch more shows on cable then network.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It is unfortunate but I don't think Sleepy Hollow can afford to not pay that off at this point. If the show gets a pickup they'll just have to find a way to make it work. I say 'good luck.' They're gonna need it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. YES!!! Yesssssss!! YES!!!!!!! A thousand times YES!!!!!!! BYEEEE!!! Please don't write. Just go!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. The first step of many! If there IS a third season. = /

    ReplyDelete
  31. Keep the hope alive.

    ReplyDelete
  32. YES! Even if they end up together, why rush it? They are aiming for seven seasons, right? So, fans wanted them together already in season two, and complaining that they weren't. Yet if the show lasted seven seasons, there'd inevitably be drama and stuff keeping them from a happy romance, who the hell wants that? They have superb chemistry as best friends, and the best relationships are ones that begin in friendship. I want them to stay friends until the show is officially winding down. They are far cuter that way IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree! I need my shows to go somewhere. To lead somewhere With their stories and everything comes full circle with the finale, not have all these filler episodes b/c "fans" can't catch up. Why should that be the network's fault? Pfft. Idts.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I get that but the show started serialised, did well, and got a lot of ctiricism when it went more procedural, procedural just isn't the way to go with every show.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Two months, that's a long wait. I can't concentrate on that. (Or rather I don't want to b/c that's my bday month, Haha). But IF we do get a third season, I hope they give us that season 1 fire back.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'd love it if the show would hold off on that relationship as long as possible but time isn't on their side with the ratings being what they are.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would have to disagree. They would also like to have serialized shows (at least when Kevin Reilly was in charge) but they have never given them a chance and when and if they did it was either too late or to not given it enough time to gain an audience.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm indifferent.

The second season was an undeniable mess, with most of its damage seemingly being irreparable. It'd be neat to get new ideas from an out-of-house showrunner, but the show's still broken.

John Noble was wasted. Katrina was ruined and scapegoated. Irving is kind of pointless. Headless is just tedious. The mythology is all whackadoo at this point.

I'm not even sure if I want a third season. I fear a third season would only bring the show closer to the things I don't want from it (Procedural/filler episodes with nonsense monsters-of-the-week; IchAbbie shipping; Hawley saturation; Ichabod lacking emotional damage beyond one or two mellow scenes; lack of legitimate plot development; re-writing of established lore and continuity).

    Maybe goodbye, Sleepy Hollow?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good, bring someone else who can restore SH glory from the first season

  40. Gaia Di Lorenzo10 March 2015 at 21:33

ugh so #SleepyHollow is certain to be cancelled without Mark Goffman :( thx for the sad news. Except he made my girl die I liked the season but my girl's death still hurts inside

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hope they are good news, because season 2 was awful. I think anyone else can do a better job than this guy

    ReplyDelete
  42. When Revenge showrunner and creator, Mike Kelley, stepped down from season 2 it was seen as a vote of confidence from the network that the show could do better with another showrunner.

I think it is the same thing here; they want someone else who can do a better job and fix the mess that was season 2

    ReplyDelete
  43. There's an old saying...you know hat you have but you dont know what you will get.Lets see how this plays out.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I hate that month by the way lol
Season 1 was epic but honestly most of season 2 has been a big snooze fest.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Gaia Di Lorenzo10 March 2015 at 21:38

:), Hope my girl will appear in flashbacks if we get s3. I need justice T_T

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ha! I only hate it b/c i have to get a year older. But i loveee that month. (for Media reasons not weather) S2 was a B-O-R-E! Terribly done. A few eps, here and there, but nope! Not season 1 material at all. I'm glad "Goofman" is gone. But then again, if we don't get renewed, my happiness will be short lived.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That's how it is with most showrunner changes. A change in showrunner shows confidence in moving forward with a renewal under new direction. I could give a bunch more additional examples, but Revenge is a great one already. Not only due to similar circumstances but both Revenge and Sleepy Hollow are in house owned (ABC Studios and FOX respectively)

    ReplyDelete
  48. No,its not a given. You're such a pessimist.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Changing showrunner can be good or bad
Take Revenge, (sunil nayar replaced mike kelly) and I think he's done a horrible job

    ReplyDelete
  50. I still hate they replaced Mike Kelly. (yes he was responsible for S2) but S1 and S2 felt more sophisticated that 3 and 4

    ReplyDelete
  51. I actually love season 3 so I disagree on that. Season 4, on the other hand, has been worse than season 2. I still love the show, but it seems like season 3 was the perfect ending spot and now they are just letting rusted gears run. I still hope for the show to be revitalized, and there have been hints of that, but I still am pretty skeptical about it

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hopefully they'll find a way to bring Katrina back and give her a well thought out and decently written storyline too :D Well...we can all dream, can't we?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Good. Season 2 sucked put loud and was the most disappointing returning show for me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. *cough*Arrowdidit*cough*

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hate it because it marks the start of the hiatus. You are just a ball of sunshine aren't you.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Good. There is a part of me that is "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" but then the other part of me, you know - the one that has suffered under Jeremy Carver - makes me afraid we may end up with worse.

    ReplyDelete
  57. i like season 3. I just felt Nayar added to many characters that were useless and made the show feel more daytime soap then primetime soap.

    ReplyDelete
  58. For tv yes, but for movies, tv cons, media events etc, it a great time. Haha, yes i am. I revel. (she said with sarcasm. = p)

Its gloomier in Vancouver during filming season. Also, cheaper....fx, tax credits and all. I think it would have been a good move for the show if they did move there....all the scary shows are done there.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Bertha Strongham11 March 2015 at 00:11

Totally agree with you. It was a huge mistake to bring Henry back. They should have made Katriona evil from the start of the season.

Not sure why people don't like Ichabod and Abbie together.....I am not a huge fan of them, given all the other parts of the storyline, like the fact that the man is married....but if the wife dies....game on, in my books. Nothing wrong with interracial couples on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Bertha Strongham11 March 2015 at 00:14

Personally, I FLOVED that Angel guy....what happened to him? What a waste of a storyline!

Abbie and him would have been great!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Bertha Strongham11 March 2015 at 00:15

I have no problem with Abbie and Ichabod being together....but I do think it will have to be done right. After all the gal is already paying his bills. Ichabod needs a paying job, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Bertha Strongham11 March 2015 at 00:18

    LMAO

    Are you referring to EP?

    ReplyDelete
  64. The "done right" part is the rub. There aren't a lot of things Sleepy Hollow has done right this season. I'd rather keep them apart until I have ample confidence the show won't screw it up.

    ReplyDelete
  65. SH is filmed in NC not sure why you think Atlanta is involved lol.

    ReplyDelete
  66. That moment from Mom was amazing. Eve-ry-thing.

    ReplyDelete
  67. You mean Goofman? hell yeah! Gtfo! lmao he ruined my damn series, and it's in jeopardy. That is not cool.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Bertha Strongham11 March 2015 at 00:30

    LMAO

When I read the post above yours and then read yours....

    Hilarical!

  69. HAHA!! As SOON as i read that label i cheered for joy!! I was literally shouting YESSS! I pretty sure my neighbors were like, "uh oh she's at it again." LOL

  70. Bertha Strongham11 March 2015 at 00:40

    It was super funny!
    Awesome sauce on the board!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Awesome. Now I can give Sleepy Hollow S3 a chance

    ReplyDelete
  72. The main reason this season was so lackluster is b/c there were to many episodes! They need to go back to 13 IF it gets renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I liked Orion as well, I hope he comes back.

    ReplyDelete
  74. My only two complaints would be Margaux and Stevie Greyson, which wasn't used to her fullest potential. Aside from that I had next to zero problem with the characters.

Things went a bit crazy, but in a good way; the twists were really landing and everything went bananas so fast that I just felt in love with the new directions. Sadly, season four hasn't lived up to that

    ReplyDelete
  75. Because when NC lost their tax incentive program, production was moved to Atlanta for any upcoming seasons, if commissioned. This was confirmed by Dana Walden herself at the TCAs.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Oh ya lol only show left there us Under the dome haha.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Devon Maxwell-Pierce11 March 2015 at 13:46

Elementary is in a similar situation, with weak ratings, but an absolutely gorgeous best-friendship exists between Sherlock and Joan. I see no evidence of them moving them into romance. There are other things to try. With Elementary, I hope the Hulu deal helps it find an audience. I find E and SH similar in a lot of respects and I wish for better ratings for both.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I felt Abbie and Orion´s chemistry as well, they´d be a great match, hope he comes back if it´s renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh god no, Ichabod and Abbie are AMAZING as friends, I love them. Don´t want them to get involved with each other in a relationship AT ALL, it´d ruin them

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well sod you and him. Its his Katrina agenda that harmed the ratings

    ReplyDelete
  81. Victoria Llanos11 March 2015 at 21:22

Darn! And here I thought I had a right to my own opinion. If anything, it's the brainless shippers that couldn't see beyond Ichabbie not getting together, the ones that sabotaged the show. It's because of those of us who stuck around even when the show got down right mediocre, that it has any chance at all of having a third season.
So honey, if you want to express your opinion respectfully, you're welcome to do so, otherwise please feel free to ignore me, as a matter of fact, please do. I don't like exchanging opinions with disrespectful, close-minded children who can't accept any opinion but their own.

    ReplyDelete
  82. It is very frustrating to read all the site with articles such as "Sleepy Hollow Receives Bad News" or "Showrunner Jumps Sinking Ship" as titles. It is likely--no--probable he was FIRED and this is just an amicable way to gloss things over for the press. Fox is just as guilty with their lack of promotion before season two began and allowing things to get this bad before stepping in, so they are likely trying to made this a tidy, no-hard-feelings split. I just hate all the conjecture from the naysayers. We know nothing of what transpired other than what we were told, which is merely that he stepped down and is going to CBS. For all we know, Fox got him the job to get him out of the way! Of course, without a renewal the news remains bittersweet, but I'm hoping this is just one step FOX is taking to fix this fantastic show.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'd prefer Vancouver to Atlanta. Ew humidity, but I'll take Sleepy Hollow even if it's filmed in Tokyo! I know Supernatural is filmed in Vancouver already, so it would've been funny if Sleepy ended there--a crossover might actually be possible. Both shows like to make fun of themselves a bit so it would definitely entertain.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I thought John Noble was awesome as the sin eater. Yes, it was a great ending to season one to reveal him as the big bad, but I thought he was much better on Team Witnesses' side and could have stayed on the show as a supporting character. IMO Katrina would've been the more believable big bad at the end of season ONE. While there were definitely clues that she was going to go dark side throughout the season, it made much more sense fresh out of purgatory. First, we didn't really know her character in season one, so she could have been anything! Yes, we saw Ichabod loved her, but she was in purgatory 200+ years. How did that no affect her when it nearly took down Abbie and Crane in mere minutes, witch or not? So while I was all for Evil Katrina, I did not like how long it took to get there, and it was done sloppily. They should've never painted her as good and provided more examples of subterfuge to make the change believable. Goffman wasted the opportunities to make her relevantly bad and John Noble, as great as he is, reached his plateau long ago. I swear it was like watching an 80's cartoon each episode of season two with Henry as Gargamel or Skeletor. I was just waiting at the end of each episode for him to rub his hands together and say something like "Foiled again, but I'll get you kids next time. Bwaah Bwaah Bwaah."

    ReplyDelete
  85. I still think Noble would have been great as a Horseman but the familial ties undercut everything. As for Katrina, you probably didn't see evidence of her impending evil side much earlier because it's likely the whole thing was a last minute course correction.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Bertha Strongham13 March 2015 at 02:58

I hear you....but they are on different networks....sooooo doubtful....but it would have been fun. In fact, supes is filmed in much of the interior of BC....

Mind you SH would have a hard time filming in BC given it is soooo rooted in the east of NA.
