Update: ABC Family have finally officially confirmed what we already knew a while go ;)
ABC Family has picked up its first scripted saga-to-series, "Shadowhunters," from The Mortal Instruments franchise, announced today by Tom Ascheim, President, ABC Family and Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, ABC Family. The series will go into production this May in Toronto.
Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, "Shadowhunters" follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters - human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.
"'Shadowhunters' is a big epic saga that will resonate with viewers who come to ABC Family for the 'Harry Potter,' 'Hunger Games,' and 'Twilight' franchises," said Ascheim. "A New York Times bestseller for 122-consecutive weeks, with over 35 million copies in print worldwide, 'Shadowhunters' is the perfect story to share with our audience."
Burke continued, "Clary is a strong, dynamic and captivating character that our audience will immediately identify with. They will want her to succeed and will root for her on her journey to become who she was always meant to be. The series has a passionate fan base and an expansive universe that can sustain multiple seasons to come."
"I'm excited to see ABC Family bring the world of the Shadowhunters to life. As a huge fan of long-form television drama, I can't wait to see the story unfold and for the fans to have more time with the world and the characters," added book author, Cassandra Clare.
"Shadowhunters" is produced by Constantin Film, and Ed Decter serves as executive producer and showrunner.
Cast to be announced at a later date.

Original Post:
Sources have reported to us that ABC Family has ordered Shadowhunters straight to series and is in the process of casting the roles of Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec, Isabelle, Jocelyn and Valentine. Filming is set to begin in May.
This post will update as we hear more.
Wouldn't have placed this on ABC Family at all...that's interesting.
ReplyDeleteSides for Jace, Clary and Simon are up on showfax.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the TV continuation Deadline was talking about regarding the fate of The Mortal Instruments movie sequel.
ReplyDeleteIts actually a reboot, starting from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteBetter have a large budget.
ReplyDeletehow do you feel about the recasting?
ReplyDeleteI don't like this.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't trust ABCFamily to do it...
plus, it's supernatural and this channel HATES supernatural shows
ReplyDeleteWell, Lily Collins in her originals role would be awesome, but she's a film star, but I didn't like the male lead in the movie, so... I hope for a great cast!
ReplyDeleteHates?? What about Ravenswood!? It's not that they hate it, supernatural shows just never worked for them!
ReplyDeleteWell, who would have trusted The CW would have such a amazing quality TV line-up few years ago, when they aired shows like Melrose Place and 90210..
ReplyDeleteExactly... Which is why it would have been a safer bet on The CW. Which always has had more success with genre shows. ABC Family's typical audience is not necessarily gonna flock to this and if they do and stick around I fear because they'd make it even more romantically centered than it already is. I love the books but the love stuff gets extremely tedious at times... It'd be there on The CW but they have gotten a little better than that lately...in a lot of cases anyway.
ReplyDeleteYeah, CW would have been a better choice, and about the audience, I think the PLL audience would do, as will fans of the movie watch it. The network is trying to get away with their typical family dramas, and move over to other stuff (for example Stitchers, a supernatural procedural), so I'm hoping it works out for them, and that they prove, they can make a fantasy show work on their network.
ReplyDeleteHOPE it survives on ABC Family. I hope it won't be cancelled. It should be a hit. This is risky. I'm praying. Wasted too much for it to see it vanish soon...
ReplyDeleteyes me too :( I've waited too much for it and I hope it won't get axed. Not many people watch ABC Family except for PPL. Hope it lives.
ReplyDeleteIt looks more like a CW show, less ABC Family.Let's see the casting.
ReplyDeleteI would like for Samantha Logan to pick up the lead. Think she would fit the role.
ReplyDeleteI liked thr overall Mortal Instruments story, didn't read the books, but the movie was awfully executed.
But let's see how the show will go down.
dragon ball?
ReplyDeleteNooooo not abc family there scifi shows die so fast and i need this show to live plus the books r dark how u gonna make the series dark on abc family
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball
ReplyDeleteexactly, they didn't give Ravenswood a chance, i mean it's luck that Kyle XY lasted 3 years
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought when I first heard it. I had it checked multiple times cause it just seemed so...off for ABC Family. But it looks like they're trying to push into new ground with Shadowhunters and Stitchers. They're most likely going to lose most of their lineup in the next 2 years so they need to start finding replacements.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a good idea.. the movies did so well. Not.
ReplyDeleteI really hope ABC Family gives this show a fair chance and it succeeds.
ReplyDeleteThey have a reputation for cancelling shows after one season and ending them on unresolved cliffhangers so I REALLY HOPE they don't do that to this show. The books are pretty good and I hope the show is good.
Even though I'm not sure about some of the changes (why does Simon have a girlfriend?) but I like others (aging up the characters actually works pretty well, they also slightly aged them up in the movie, Clary is 15 in the books, was 17 in the movie and is 18-21 here).
No not ABC Family, they always cancel a Fantasy/Syfy/Action series! But I would like at some of the movie cast to come back but have Benjamin Stone from Chloe King play Jace!
ReplyDeleteI know what it is...What's the connection?
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Mackenzie Rosman in the role as Clary Fray
ReplyDeleteIn the books, the characters of Simon and Clary are really into manga.
ReplyDeleteYep. From what I'm told, in the pilot Dragon Ball was the first manga that Simon lent Clary. They apparently mention a few character names too.
ReplyDeleteIt's nothing major, but I figured some people might get a kick out of it.
Cool, thanks for the info. I read somewhere that the pilot script is very different from the books, do you know if that's true?
ReplyDeleteI'm told it's more modern (Isabelle has an iPad that detects demons). Also Simon and Clary track each other using phone apps.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely different but it seems that most of the key/important points are retained.
The issue which I'm trying to get my source to look into is a couple of characters so far don't seem to be present. My source hasn't seen or heard any reference to Hodge, Church, Madam Dorothea, Luke or Magnus Bane (although Luke and Magnus could just not be in the pilot episode and be introduced in a later episode).
Probably the best way I could describe it from what I'm told is its an adaption. It's 100% by the book, but they're pulling elements and the mythology and reworking it.
I really hope the TV show is better than the movie turned out to be
ReplyDeleteWhile that does sound different from the books, it also sounds pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI do hope they include characters like Magnus and Luke. Though they could indeed appear in later episodes.
I guess it depends on what the pilot covers. If the first season is the first book, the first episode maybe only includes parts of the book that don't yet involve those characters?
I believe the first episode covers up until Clary gets to the institute and discovers she's not a mundane.
ReplyDeleteHmm, in the book Hodge, Church, Madam Dorothea and Luke had appeared by then.. Maybe they don't want to introduce too many characters at once?
ReplyDeleteI do wonder why they felt the need to add characters though, like Natalie? Simon doesn't have a girlfriend in the book so I wonder what role she'll play in the show.
Not sure, I hope they introduce them. Some of them are important.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about Natalie's role. One of the mysteries we'll get to explore when the show finally comes out :)
glad i'm not the only who's noticed that pattern: Kyle XY, Ravenswood, and The Nine Lives of Chloe King
ReplyDeleteWell, they cancel a lot of their shows after just one season (two if they're lucky).
ReplyDeleteThey also cancelled Twisted, Jane by Design, Bunheads and The Lying Game (which was so sad, I loved that show!).
I also hope they eventually introduce them. They could leave out Dorothea and Church, but Hodge and Luke are indeed pretty important!
ReplyDeleteI really hope we learn more about this show soon. Do you have any idea when ABC Family will officially announce it? All we've heard up until now are rumours.
yep these guys need John Rogers' mind when it comes finales, he gives closure, man i'm still pissed at Kyle XY's, Ravenswood's, on The Nine Lives of Chloe King they technically gave us closure with the "movie script" and Twisted's cliffhangers ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Natalie will be Maia.
ReplyDeleteSomething about genres shows not giving ABC Family any favors since Kyle XY. Sure, before they actually gambled with some really neat genre miniseries such as Fallen (starring Paul Wesley pre-TVD) and Samurai Girl (Jamie Chung), but every show that followed after Kyle XY didn't meet ratings expectations for some reason.
ReplyDeleteToo many posts in this thread about ABC Family not giving shows a chance especially genre shows. Already begging for the season 2 renewal and anticipating failure BEFORE the show even starts filming and officially picked up. ABC Family needs a new hit show, this show would probably get every chance to succeed. The budget is the thing I would be worried about if I was a fan of the books.
ReplyDeleteI think Magnus or even Luke not being in the pilot would make sense, heck, Magnus doesn't even appear that quick in the first book, and since I'd imagine the first book would be over season 1.. makes sense they do it bit by bit.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Natalie's role is so we don't have Simon mooping after Clary.. so his effort to move on from his unrequited feelings for her. Just a guess. It adds an interesting element though.
ReplyDeleteAnd the show modernising it up is good, otherwise we'd be stuck in 2006/2007 for the entire show lol
ABC Family? I can bet it will be placed after PLL. I have my hopes it will work there.
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of the books i have to say i like the changes in the ages and wonder if they will go full on what happened in thw books, but i doubt that, it's an adaptation after all, they will change lots of things.
Im not sure about Simon and his girlfriend at least that girlfriend turn out to be Maia ( a werewolf he dates later on the books).
I wonder how they will spice up the story for people that didnt like the movie go and see the series.
I really hope it works.
The manga thing is a sweet thing in the books. Simon and Clary first meet in kinder garden and since then they were inseparable.
ABC i m giving you all my hopes. Please dont screw this up!
i think the updates are good ideas! it'll be hard to get used to as someone who's obsessed with the books, but I'm excited! and i think the timing is actually perfect - though abc family cancels shows after 1 season etc etc, PLL's ratings are way down and will end in 2 years and most other shows (SaB, etc) are down, so i bet ABC Family's ratings standard that got set super high will come back down
ReplyDeleteI will be having a live Mixlr discussion about the Shadowhunters TV show tonight at 5:00 est. search MidnighRose
ReplyDeleteEveryone I'm having a live Mixlr boadcast tonight at 5:00 discussing the Shadowhunters TV show. Search for MidnightRose. See u then!
ReplyDeleteUnless ABC hires the whole City Of Bones cast.....not interested...
ReplyDeleteUgh, why are they aged up? And who the hell is Natalie? Sounds too different already. I thought the whole point of this was to make it truer to the book than the crappy movie was.
ReplyDeleteI thought was handled poorly so Idk about this, but something different for abc family at least.
ReplyDeleteNot crazy about this show on ABC Family because it does not seem likely to find great success there with people who aren't already fans of the books. I would love to be proved wrong on that! I was really hoping for a stronger drama series like the Starz channel limited-run series "Outlander" based on the books by Diana Gabaldon.
ReplyDeleteThen again, if they didn't cancel Twisted, we wouldn't have gotten the amazing acting Jack Falahee has provided on HTGAWM.
ReplyDeleteI liked the books but I doubt seriously I watch the series on this channel. It will be too watered down. Also, I'm not sure about the title Shadowhunters. Sherrilyn Kenyon's adult paranormal series is being made into a show and the title of that book series, if ordered, is Dark Hunters. I love those books. I have every one and have read them all more than once. The titles are too similar for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared that ABC will mess up the fantasy part of the mortal instruments.I truly hope I am wrong though
ReplyDeleteStraight to series, eh? Not so sure what to make of that...
ReplyDeleteIt's ABC family... so probably not that big a budget...
ReplyDeleteWell if they are not willing to pay more to do the story justice they shouldn't have ever ordered it in the first place. :)
ReplyDeleteEh... it's a bit more complicated than that... anyhow, wait and see I guess...
ReplyDeleteDon't like the cast changed from the movie so I'm not sure about the series.
ReplyDeleteThis show might indeed get cancelled seeing that it's on ABC Family. The only show that they truly care about on that channel is Pretty Little Liars. Instead of focusing on one show they need to split time and give other shows a try. And I honestly can't take ABC Family serious when it comes to a Sci-Fi show, their history has proven that. Plus once they get a good show that people actually like(Jane by design, The Lying Game, Twisted, Chloe King, etc.) they cancel it. For Shadowhunters to last, ABC Family needs to cut the bullshit and actually give it fair chance before shelving it.
ReplyDeleteI read the books, and after seeing the movie's attempt at adapting them, I'm worried. Maybe I'm just cynical, but I hope this turns out better than I expect it to.
ReplyDeleteLuke not being in the pilot episode would seem rather odd. Other than that, introducing the rest of the characters in later episodes makes sense.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I *live* in the LA area and have even been down to Constantin to try to arrange a meeting with the showrunner but no such luck. I got an email address to send a request to, that would be *forwarded* to the showrunner, but it's not very likely that he'll actually respond.
The rumor that concerns me the most is that they're making the Shadowhunters "like a division of the CIA." I don't know whether that means they actually ARE a division of the CIA (which pretty much turns the books on their head), or are just a secret organization type deal. I'm hoping the latter, but I'm concerned it'll be the former.
I also note that the casting call went out to Craigslist LA, although with Clary supposedly taking classes from the "Brooklyn Academy of Art" I'm wondering whether they're going to set the series in New York but film it in LA or what. One of the earlier rumors was that they were going to set the series in Los Angeles. I seriously hope not.
It would make more sense for Natalie to end up being Maureen, actually.
ReplyDeleteThat division of the CIA thing. pleaseee let it dont be real.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anything about them being a division of the CIA so I don't believe that is true.
ReplyDeleteThey're supposed to be filming in Vancouver, so I'm not sure why the casting call is up on Craigslist LA. My assumption is that one of the casting agencies did that and it wasn't related to the showrunners/Constantin themselves.
I saw that particular rumor on fangirlish dot com, in the article "You Reacted to my Open Letter to Ed Decter," from someone who claimed to have read the pilot script.
ReplyDeleteIt could be there and my source didn't mention it to me. I haven't read the script myself so all my information comes from them.
ReplyDeleteSo currently I can't confirm or deny if the CIA thing is true. All I can say is I haven't heard it from my source.
Understandable.
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome if some of the more nuanced fans -- those who feel passionately about the series, but are able to express themselves intelligently without coming off as patronizing or condescending -- could have a short Q&A with the showrunner and producers. I'm sure we would LIKE to be behind the TV series and support it as much as we can, but imho, part of the reason that a lot of fans are upset is because they feel like they're not being heard.
Yeah. Unfortunately CC isn't involved. What I personally think they need to do is get CC involved. Some changes are fine, but let the original author be involved. Even if its just to put her 2 cents forward.
ReplyDeleteI did take a look at the fangirlish dot com articles too (thanks for pointing me to them). It does look like they have read the script. Something I was told but chose not to mention was about Jace being a bit of a creeper ( http://fangirlish.com/tmitv-you-reacted-to-my-open-letter-to-ed-decter/ ). The fangirlish article mentions it exactly like how I was told.
Sorry for the late reply, I totally missed your post haha.
ReplyDeleteI assume it'll be announced late march/early April. Filming is supposed to begin in May so that would give them time to announce casting.
I saw that as well, and the way the article described it made it seem like Jace put a rune on Clary in a more personal place than it needed to be. Which I really hope they don't film it that way.
ReplyDeleteI've also read other articles that correctly point out that, in general, authors don't have input into film or TV adaptation of their work. High-profile authors like J. K. Rowling are the exception to the rule.
Authors know how to write a good story. But they don't necessarily know how to make a good screenplay. Imo, the reason why Hollywood generally buys the rights to an adaptation w/o any strings attached is to avoid any potential issues with prima donna authors. I doubt that that would be a problem with Cassie Claire, but it is apparently standard practice.
Yeah it's rare for authors to get a say. Though considering what happened with the film I hoped that Constantin would have learnt from their mistake. Getting CC involved I think could have been useful. Instead we're getting this which has...divided fans (to put it lightly).
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling if it becomes a success it'll be like The Vampire Diaries or Pretty Little Liars. It'll quickly become it's own thing while pulling and reworking elements from the books. The pilot already is doing that.
Actually, there's no guarantee of not polarizing the fans even if CC were to be involved. I've happened upon some rather nasty and hateful comments from erstwhile "fans" of her books, just about the book series itself.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if they used her as a resource to help flesh out the TV series, tho.
True, very true.
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets at least something though. It sounds like on twitter that she would love to be involved. Unfortunately they don't seem to be telling her anything.
So in this series Jace knew his father? Would that be tricky with the Valentine father-son storyline?
ReplyDeleteIn the books, Jace thinks his father was killed when he was 10. So I think they're summarizing but saying the same thing.
ReplyDeleteDont recast! The original actors from the movie did a amazing job. If abc recasts their gonna a loose so many fans and loose ratings. We already know they can't keep a good series for longer then 4-5 years. So if abc wants to take a chance on this saga then they need to use the old cast or their wont be anything worth shooting..
ReplyDeleteSo the original cast will not return? I'm out.
ReplyDeleteI always expected a recast... These are young upcoming film actors they are focused on film not TV... While I would have loved to see Lily Collins on TV, I prefer to see her in movies... for now
ReplyDeleteSo .... who would you cast as Clary, Jace, and Simon ?
ReplyDeleteIf she wasn't on The Originals for some reason I'd cast Danielle ( Davina ) Campbell as Clary.
I'd cast Darren ( Blaine ) Criss as Simion.
I don't think they can afford most of the actors, at least I'm sure they can't afford Lilly and Lena (who would never leave GoT, for this little show)
ReplyDeleteI've read the books and surprisingly enough I didn't hate the movie. Sure it could've been much better, but isn't that the case with most book to movies adaptations?
ReplyDeleteI want a real redhead for Clary, so maybe Molly Quinn? I don't know, but she could work. As for Jace I always pictured him as Alex Pettyfer, but I guess he's too old now.
ReplyDeleteBailee ( Sophia Quinn / young Snow White - The Fosters/ Once Upon a Time) Madison who would be PERFECT for the role of Clarissa 'Clary' Adele.Fray.
ReplyDeleteYeah... still don't know if ABC family is the right place for this...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I don't like her... I don't know why, she's not a bad actress, but highly over rated, in my opinion.
ReplyDeletewhat do they mean with retained? there are not gonna be any steles or seraph blades?
ReplyDeleteThey are kept from the books.
ReplyDeletethank you!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Natlie is Maureen, how cool is thta. That crazy obsessive girl was one of my favorite things
This actually sounds pretty awesome. I'm already pretty much sold.
ReplyDeleteI didn't hate the movie either, I was just a bit disappointed. I guess my expectations were a bit too high. But I'll check the series out for sure.
ReplyDeleteBye b@tch.
ReplyDeleteNo there not the guy they had for jace was terrible. Now they can someone that actually looks like jace.
ReplyDeleteI just have a problem with CIA thing. that should not be that way, it's taking away some things about the book.
ReplyDeleteCould Natalie be Maureen, but with another name? It would kinda make sense...
ReplyDeleteUpdate: There is a change in the sides. Natalie is now renamed "Maureen" also Jace draws the rune on her neck, and not her upper thigh, probably because of fan reaction, lol
ReplyDeleteChris, can you confirm this? This would be FANTASTIC news. Not because I agree with what their changing (although I wholeheartedly do!), but because it means we do have an open line of communication with Constantin and Ed Decter.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know if this is true. Where did you hear this?
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear about it. I was emailed the new version of the sides because I had bought the original Jace & Simon sides, and so when there is a revised version they send them to you for freee.
ReplyDeleteOh, I understand. Well, thanks for sharing them here :)
ReplyDeleteAre you auditioning?
Oh, no no. I just like to look at sides for stuff I'm interested in to see what's coming up.
ReplyDeleteDid you like the sides? :)
ReplyDeleteI did, from the scenes that were there. The series has potential.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear! :) Where did you buy the sides, if you don't mind me asking? :)
ReplyDeleteShowfax.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update addicted. Might wanna update Chris.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you've seen these,or not.
ReplyDeleteShe also said that the casting sides out there are not even real? Possibly created for casting purposes..?
ReplyDeleteYep I can confirm. Natalie is now Maureen and Gary is now Eric.
ReplyDeleteI also assume (but can't confirm) that an announcement will be made at or by the ABC Family upfronts. http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/03/the-spoilertv-network-upfronts-2015.html
Could be. Our source has generally been accurate in the past, but of course not 100%.
ReplyDeleteUntil things become more official, anything we can do to get people talking and pushing for the best adaption is a win in my book.
From what I've been told it's getting better with each version. It's still not 100% like the books but its at the point where its close enough that I think it suits the TV format well.
ReplyDeleteYeah much of it is similar to what I've heard and I'm very happy to see that CC has met with the network. It's a series that deserves to get a proper adaption.
ReplyDeleteThe Natalie thing is because she's now Maureen I'm told.
I'm glad to hear about the Magnus/Alec romance. I expected it to be included but its nice to hear confirmation.
Really happy to hear that!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind them changing some things from the books, but as long as they follow the story from the books and the changes make sense (unlike the changes in the movie..) I'm in!
Also really happy it's staight to series. I was also really excited when they were creating a show based on the Selection and when that didn't get picked up (twice!) it was so sad.
Yeah. I think they are making changes to make it better with every version they do.. which is good. I think it will have the best version for a tv show as possible. Its great they want to take this time to perfect things as they go through the process.
ReplyDeleteNice! I like the mythology of the books, hope the show will be better than the movie, who had a great cast but wasn't captivating at all.
ReplyDeleteABC Family has a pretty good track record casting their shows. The four leads of PLL. Italia Ricci Chasing Life. The four teens in Bunheads. The three leads in Twisted. Alexandro Chando The Lying Game. Fans of a book series will always picture a character a certain way based the description of the character or what they feel the character should look like, but two of the best movies off all time had actors play a lead role that did not fit the character description from the books (Morgan Freeman/Shawshank Redemption, Russell Crowe/LA Confidential) and I am sure there are other examples.
ReplyDeletei realy hope this works, that's the only thing I ask! as 13 ep it can go faster and make things even more inetresting.
ReplyDeletePlease let this show work.
"Natalie Adams"? I was going to say, fine, as long as they stick to the books as best as they can. But already I'm beginning to feel wary...and then there's the fact that ABC Family seems pretty damn incapable of casting good actors on their shows...they better not fuck this up too badly. One of my favorite book series.
ReplyDeleteThis show needs to go over to the CW, Syfy, MTV, somewhere far away from ABC Family! They never give these kind of shows a chance because they always end up cancelling them!
ReplyDeleteBetter. But I still don't want them messing with my book babies.
ReplyDeleteI am willing to bet this gets a bigger promotional campaign than the last few of their shows did. They're trying to skew a bit older and they seem to be really into Stitchers which is quite different than their usual stuff. I still don't forgive them for Ravenswood (by that point I was already getting tired of PLL but I did enjoy the mysteries and the better approach at giving answers in that show) but if they really seem to be supporting this, I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be opposed to MTV but they have Teen Wolf, and Shannara coming up which is probably a bit pricey, and if they had three semi-expensive series they might have to drop one before they'd like to.
Well I'll say this: it does seem ABCfamily intends to shift the tone of it's original programming.
ReplyDeleteHope it works out...
I'm keeping an open mind for this one!
ReplyDeletewill end on a cliffhanger, unresolved by abc =)
ReplyDeleteMolly Quinn from Castle recently met up with Cassandra Clare for lunch. Molly read one of the TMI audiobook and is a big fan of the books... She also retweeted a lot of things about this show.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably not going to happen, but I think it would be pretty awesome if she got cast as Clary :D
Let's hope not. If that happens I will be so pissed. It will have been the fifth ABC Family show I was watching to be cancelled on a cliffhanger..
ReplyDeleteDepending on casting I might give it a shot. I just hope they drop the weird incest silliness and stick with the mythology which while muddled, was more interesting than the baby swapping, who's your daddy stuff.
ReplyDeleteNever read the books but the movie was crap. I hope this series is better. Cassie Clare is one lucky girl.
ReplyDeleteI've read all the books and saw
ReplyDeletethe add was on craiglist, check there for an adress
ReplyDeleteno please, i dont see Clary in her. In fact i dont think they will find a better Clary than Lily Collins
ReplyDeleteLet 'em rage. Because afterall they are raging *for* incest. I mean, come on, it was an absurd dramatic obstacle that only led to convoluted storytelling and a contrived romance that was supposed to be foundational.
ReplyDeleteWhile Lily was certainly a pretty good Clary, I am sure there are other actresses out there who will be equally good as Clary (or maybe even better :D).
ReplyDeleteCan this show tag be added to the browser add-on show list now? :D
ReplyDeleteNatalie is Maureen. She's been aged up and is now Simon's girlfriend.
ReplyDeletethere is. Its under ABC Family in the Cab A-H
ReplyDeleteThey should stick to the books and keep the film cast or it's ruined
ReplyDeleteI'm referring to the list on the browser add-ons/extensions (Chrome, Firefox, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to ABCFamily But I agree I don't trust them to do the series The mortal Instruments will only be a good series if they have casting and setting on point If one thing is off Its going to suck!
ReplyDeleteI agree entirely Even though the books are centered primarily on Clary and Jace's romance After a while it gets pretty dull and if ABCFamily is going to turn it into a romantic sick-com Its going to lose ratings fast!
ReplyDeleteOmg if they don't include Magnus and Alex Lightwood being together ABCFamily is going to have me and about about 100,000 other angry fan girls on their hands lol Magnus Bane is the sole reason Clary doesn't have any memory of Idris or the shadowhunter world you can't just take him out and when they are fighting Valentine.... It was all because of Alex that he was there. Like come on! Godfrey and Zeger where the only two original castings I liked in the movie
ReplyDeleteAnd also thankfully PLL's ratings are starting to reflect how ridiculous it has become, I think ABC Family finally realized that trying to clone PLL isn't gonna work and that's probably a small factor in the changing direction. It could also be because The CW is their main competition, they are suddenly getting more recognition than ever, and that their lineup is mostly genre shows and that they have been getting more mature in their content. They have to compete or fall behind in the race. I hope Stitchers and Shadowhunters are both huge hits for them but I'm still worried they aren't gonna be patient or merciful.
ReplyDeleteThey should indeed stay closet to the books, but they are not going to keep the cast. And they shouldn't, it's not like all the castmembers from the movie were perfect. IMO there are way better actors for Jace and Valentine out there. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay what the F*ck is this about Jace inscribing a rune on Clary's upper thigh while she's passed out? NO, NO NO NO. That is not okay, Jace is not some creepy rapist or whatever. This does not happen in the book and should sure as hell NOT happen on the show. Also, why would they give Simon a girlfriend? He's supposed to be in love with Clary and saving himself for her, but then also gets kind of a crush on Isabelle. SO DON'T GIVE HIM A F*CKING GIRLFRIEND. And that's just dumb, adding in a new character and giving her this stupid ass character trait that she loves her dog named Yeti and carries it in her backpack, that is seriously just so dumb, I'm sorry. But I'm mostly mad that they're thinking about making Jace out to be some creepy rapist type guy, because he is actually so f*cking awesome and he truly loves Clary.
ReplyDeleteOkay, my rant is over. I'm sorry, I just really love these books and want everything to turn out well.
Really disappointed they couldn't at least keep Lily Collins.... she was awesome in the movie IMO.
ReplyDeleteNooooo they are in high school. What about the disowning of Jace from Mayrise. nooo. Do this right
ReplyDeleteI thought this would be a great series verses movies. So much possibility in this story beyond the main story line (unlike Hunger Games or Twilight).
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm kind of scared that they are going to mess this book series up as a show. I'm so excited to be able to watch it, but if something is off the book fans will know. I really hope they do the books justice.
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be filmed in Toronto, Canada, but I'm sure you already heard that.
ReplyDeleteARE YOU SERIOUS! Jamie Campbell Bower is the best in the whole damn world and I am not watching the show if he isn't in it!
ReplyDeleteand neither is Manon!
ReplyDeleteSimon cannot have a girlfriend! That isn't how it goes!
ReplyDeleteDOMINIC SHERWOOD!?! no offence but he is NO Jace! I can't believe it! Jamie Campbell Bower was PERFECT! why did they have to change it!?!
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I can't wait for the show, and I'm sure Dominic will make a great Jace . . . just not as good as Jamie.
Andrew Biersack from Black Veil Brides would be a good Jonathan Morgenstern. I know he's not an actor but he has been in a series on youtube called Average Joe. When I read Jonathan's description I imagined Andy.
