Scene Of The Week - March 22, 2015 - POLL

22 Mar 2015

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

12 MONKEYS, "Divine Move", March 20, 2015, Actors: Kirk Acevedo, Emily Hampshire
The Scene: Jennifer Goines confronts Ramse in 2043 (picked by Darth Locke)

BABY DADDY, "A Love/Fate Relationship", March 18, 2015, Actors: Derek Theler, Chelsea Kane
The Scene: Riley and Danny admit their feelings for each other
Klutzy Girl:
Granted, it was ruined like two minutes later but I have faith they'll fix this and it was a long time coming. I'm excited to see what the future brings for them now that everything's out in the open!

BETTER CALL SAUL, "Bingo", March 16, 2015, Actor: Bob Odenkirk
The Scene: Jimmy breaks down
Darth Locke:
Jimmy breaks down in the corner window office he originally wanted to give to Kim.

EMPIRE, "Who I Am", March 18, 2015, Actors: Jussie Smollett, Charles Hamilton
The Scene: Jamal confronts Black Rambo
Ben L:
In the season finale of Empire, I loved it when Jamal went to face his homophobic hater, Black Rambo. I enjoyed this scene because it showed how far Jamal came and how fearless he is. Also picked by Diana Mack

GLEE, "Dreams Come True", March 20, 2015, Actors: Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer and more, The Scene: The final song
Justyna K:
Yes, I haven't watched the show in years, but I have quite a few good memories from its first two seasons and I wanted to come back and see the final episodes. And in the end, I thought it was a lovely ending, kind of perfectly imperfect for this series. The last song was such a great moment, to see everyone truly happy after so many heartbreaks on their way, is always a beautiful thing. Also, it must have been impossible to choose the final song on the show, but it turn out to be really amazing. It was meaningful, positive, catchy and wonderfully done. I've been listening to this performance for the last couple of days, with smile on my face. So thank you for that. And kudos to cast & crew for putting their heart and soul into the series. There will never be anything quite like it.

GREY'S ANATOMY, "Don't Dream It's Over", March 19, 2015, Actors: Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, The Scene: Derek appears at his doorstep
Diana Mack:
Derek appears at his doorstep and tells Meredith he knows she called him and a strange woman answered his phone instead, letting fans wondering if he actually cheated oh her. Shonda, why?!

POLDARK, "Episode 2", March 15, 2015, Actors: Kyle Soller, Phil Davis and more, The Scene: The duel
Sandi:
This fast paced argument which turned into a bloody duel under a gorgeous thundering Cornish sky was unexpected to say the least. For someone who supposedly cared deeply for his sister's honour, Francis manhandled her dispicably a number of times, knocking her to the ground at one point in his eagerness to start the duel. Jud's inability to count further than 2 was a lovely humourous moment in amongst the angst; Philip Davies is a gem in the role.

RIZZOLI AND ISLES, "Family Matters", March 17, 2015, Actors: Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander
The Scene: Maura and Jane sing in the car
Klutzy Girl:
I went back and watched this scene a few times because it was cute and hilarious. We need more scenes like this!

THE AMERICANS, "Divestment", March 18, 2015, Actors: Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and more
The Scene: The South African agent is killed by being set alight (picked by DarkUFO & Darth Locke)

THE BLACKLIST, "Tom Keen", March 19, 2015, Actors: James Spader, Megan Boone, The Scene: Red talks to Lizzie about her support for family of the man killed by Tom
Jimmy Ryan:
Red talking to Lizzie about her decision to anonymously support the family of the man who had been killed by Tom Keen. Red deliberately spoke of his experience to convey to Lizzie that it was him who had done just that for her over the past few decades. James Spader was outstanding in this scene which is a turning point for the two characters involved. Also picked by Bradley Adams

THE FLASH, "Out of Time", March 17, 2015, Actors: Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh
The Scene: Wells and Cisco's confrontation
Justyna K:
I still can't believe we got to see such a spectacular episode and we're not even close to the finale. There were so many great moments to mention in the hour but nothing more powerful (probably in the entire series!) than Cisco and Wells' confrontation. It was such an important and wonderfully acted scene! We finally know the truth about Wells, his name, the confirmation that he's from the future and came back to kill Barry but ended as his mother's murderer and got stuck in the past. Not only that, but we had a chance to see his true self, the man who seems to genuinely care about his Star Labs' team but wouldn't let anyone stand in his way back home, not even Cisco he considered to be almost like his own son. It was an intense and heartbreaking moment. And the pain and tears on Cisco's face once he's confronted with the truth were a particularly powerful view. It feels like a true turning point for the series and I just can't wait to see what happens now. Kudos to cast & crew for their incredible work!
Sandi: God only knows what the finale is going to be like after witnessing the reveal in this episode! This scene in particular was outstanding; the raw emotion from Cisco and genuine, yet harsh, truths from Wells were heartbreaking to witness.
Diana Mack: Dr. Wells and Cisco confrontation - very touching and heartbreaking; Cisco finds out about Wells' true identity and intentions. Wells still considers him as his son, so it was hard to see him killing the guy in order to protect his secret. Also Carlos Valdes crying wasn't in the script and that made the scene more powerful. Also picked by Bradley Adams

THE MINDY PROJECT, "What to Expect When You’re Expanding", March 17, 2015, Actors: Laverne Cox, Mindy Kaling, The Scene: Sheena instills confidence in Mindy
Klutzy Girl:
Sheena instills confidence in Mindy after the pregnancy weights gets to her. That was a really sweet scene and something her - and a lot of people - needed to hear because it's important.

THE MUSKETEERS, "The Accused", March 20, 2015, Actors: Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Maimie McCoy and more, The Scenes: Athos and Milady talk about Thomas & Aramis reveals his one night stand to the others
Justyna K:
That was definitely one of the series' best episodes yet. Which means it was impossible to pick just one scene from the hour. I feel like Aramis' reveal about his affair with the Queen was such a great character moment for all the Musketeers but in the end I decided to go with the beautifully acted and emotional scene with Athos and Milady when he asks about her accusation against his brother. Both actors did such an incredible work in the moment, with their characters' (always) powerful dynamics. It was a truly heartbreaking talk, there were not many words said between the two but their looks said everything about their complicated history and emotions. I absolutely love how far they've come since the beginning and I hope we'll get more moments with Milady in Athos in season three. They're undoubtedly the show's scene stealers everytime they share a screen. Kudos to cast & crew for such a spectacular season!
Sandi: This was such a fan pleasing scene between all the characters showing that no matter how bad things get, or how what any of them does wrong, they will always stand together side by side as brothers. Athos' dry humour was perfectly delivered and I especially loved Porthos' anger turning to a hug. What a great scene to include as part of the emotional charged finale!

THE WALKING DEAD, "Spend", March 15, 2015, Actors: Tyler James Williams, Steven Yeun
The Scene: Noah is killed in front of Glenn (picked by DarkUFO and Bradley Adams)

  3. Honorable mentions:

The Musketeers - Aramis tells the others about his affair with the Queen & Athos and Milady in Rochefort's office & Aramis and Porthos talk & everything. Just everything basically. Poor, poor Lemay, though! That was horrifying!

iZombie - Can't think of the specific scene but this introduction to the story was great!

    The Flash - also everything!

Agents of SHIELD - Fitz and Simmons discuss May and her ex & The Fight sequence

  4. THE FLASH!!! Wells/Eobard/Reverse-Flash/Professor Zoom confronts Cisco!

  5. Justified: The entire scene at the Pizza Portal, great seeing so many of the characters in one setting. Loretta got her Mags moment.

The Americans: Martha confronts 'Clark', great to see this storyline coming to a head after 3 seasons.

Better Call Saul: Jimmy breaks down.

  6. Black Sails always missing :(
My other would be when Mrs Barlow was unexpectedly shot in the head. Totally no lead up whatsoever. Very shocking.

  7. all of Tommy and Lindy in the season finale of Eye Candy even if i wanted more: a hug, a kiss

  8. The Flash, 12 Monkeys, and Baby Daddy scenes mentioned.

  9. I thought it was spread out through the whole episode rather than one burst which I liked but I do hope we see more of the two of hem struggling. Especially Cole, no one person knows everything that's going on with him because of the different timelines!

  10. They are a great couple.

  11. I could have easily nominated the whole of the Musketeers episode this week, such an amazing episode!

  12. I'm choosing the Musketeers and The Americans ;-)

    Honorable Mentions:

    1) Shameless: any scenes involving Bianca and Frank. He's and will always be one of the biggest jerks ever but seeing the two of them spending time together moved me more than usual. The scene when she yells to God...

    2) Justified: beside the big reveal about Wynn Duffy and the mine-shaft sequence (one of the tensest action setpieces from the show), Loretta totally gave a hell of a speech!

    3) Vikings: Rollo and Bjorn dealing with their problems. Intense and beautiful scene under the rain.

    4) Black Sails: what can I say? Just when I thought it couldn't get any better... wow! Miranda and Thomas gave so much drama and deepness to Flint's backstory. Definitely didn't see her going out like that and Toby Stephens totally owns his beautiful character.

  13. It was tough not to choose a Queen Anne or Milady scene for The Musketeers, or even Catherine's breakdown as Athos rescued his wife from the noose. The women on this show have been outstanding this season, with Maimie and Ali in particular becoming two of my favourites this year. Their performances have been of very strong women, yet they still shown the fragility of their individual roles and how they overcome hardships to get on in their world, which I find makes them very compelling to watch.

  14. Oops, voted other because I was thinking of The 100 only to realize it has been over a week since the finale leaked. Only watched Arrow and AoS this week. Arrow wins this week for me.

  16. Aww The Flash!!!! And Goodbye great song of Glee, TWD, The Blacklist

  17. Agreed. For me they're the best thing about Grimm right now.

  18. the only happiness i saw from her was when he came in the Bookstore and then nothing

    ReplyDelete
  19. I rewatched the episode and realized she does show some concern mixed in with the bitterness. I think it's just complicated for her because she really is getting tired of thinking they stopped the virus only to realize they haven't. She's starting to feel really frustrated and hopeless.

  20. I have a soft spot for Bud too.

  21. The Flash--
    1)Cisco and Wells confrontation.
    2)Barry and Iris kiss.
3)Barry travels through time!! C'mon how can none of you guys pick that one? That was major.

Glee- The entire thing, b/c it was their last. But for me it was Rachel's Tony acceptance speech. Along with Mr. Schue's reaction. And Justyna, since you only watched the first two seasons, i say please catch up. (You really should've watched to season 3) I hope you do, so you can get the full/true experience of the finale, of characters you once loved. Hopefully you have a marathon in the summer.

    Arrow-
1)Quentin being upset with The Arrow, for not telling him about Sara. (although it wasn't his fault).
2)Oliver figuring out what he continues fighting for. (with the help of Felicity and Diggle) That moment was important to me, from here on out, i truly believe he should know who he is now. That it should be easier for him not to struggle with his identity crisis, and that he can now be called "Green Arrow" before or by the season finale.

    TVD-
1)ALL things Steroline!! Loved their Mr. and Mrs. Smith reactions!! And their make out scene was on fire!
2)Damon greeting his mother. "Hello, Mother." was an excellent parallel to the Pilot. I smiled with that, the same as i smiled 6 years ago. Aww. And til this day i remain a Damon girl.

    The Following- Ryan kills Neil.

  22. The Blacklist : James Spader is awesome as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Justified. All things Loretta. That young girl held her own with Boyd, Raylan and Markham. Not to mention that Kaitlyn Dever is only 19 years old and acted like had worked with Walton Goggins, Sam Elliott and Timothy Olyphant all of her life.

The Blacklist - Red & Lizzie's lat scene - James was outstanding - Megan countered with her glances & understanding. She knows now. It was painfully beautiful.

  28. Blacklist: I loved the conversation between Liz and Red at the end. Great speech.
The Americans: This show never fails

    Flash:
    1. Iris confesses that she loves Barry and he also reveals that he is the Flash
    2. Cisco and Wells confrontation

    Grimm:
    1. Juliet tries to get Nick to kiss her Hexenbiest form and he can't
2 Adalind finds out she's pregnant....yet again. I also liked Nick's visit to Henrietta

The Vampire Diaries (this is such a good season, it's too bad it never makes the list)
    1. Bonnie stabs Kai in the back and leaves him in the 1903 prison
    2. Stefan and Caroline drive each other crazy. All of their scenes were awesome.
    3. Damon and Elena learn that his mother's "family" is a bunch of dessicated vampires.

Empire::Jamal and Lucious write a song together. Such a great moment between father and son, in the midst of all of the crazy drama.

The Fosters: Connor tells his father that he snuck out to see Jude and that he's gay. I really didn't expect that, given how scared he's been of his dad. I also loved the scene where Stef arrests Liam for credit card fraud.

About Glee, I'm not entirely sure where exactly I stopped watching. I might considering coming back to show in the future. For now, I'm re-watching some of my favorite performances from the series :)

  33. even Cole? i really didn't see concern just bitterness

    ReplyDelete
  34. You should start over then. Almost all the performances fit in with every scene or SL they have. And season 1-3 was the best. No question. Season. 4 was good. SeasOn 5 Was the downfall season and season 6 was way better. Really do hope you start over one day w/o shortcuts. Hopefully you'll have time in the summer.

  35. Despite all my shippery felings, Cassie's reaction pretty much realistic. She was happy to see Cole for a breif moment she was (no one take it away from me)... And you need to understend her anger is outcome from very very mix of emotions she's was feeling. 1. Virus is still in play and she has sacrificed a lot to stop it. Including her feelings for Cole when she has let him go in Chechnya. She made a choice: life of the man even you care about him or let the rest of the world die from plague. She made it and tried to move on. And here it goes again. More so, she met Peters who did choose the one he loved. I wonder if it made her questioned her decision. Although with her conversation with Aaron it didn't seem so. 2 It's clear she's just tired of fighting. And she started to feel alone in this. Aaron is not on the same page with her and Cassie understood it. Cole only can be here from time to time. And she really need something constant in her life. Someone she can hold on to. "I can do this alone but I don't want to" or "James i don't want to be alone when..." Well, Cole was there for her in 2017. But in 2015 he was stuck in his own problems: Ramse, his own condition, not to mention Cassie has died in his arms. As for Cassie's feelings towards Cole. She lost him once. Now he's back. And what. He's dying from time jumps. And dare to lie her about it. She's afraid of losing him again. He will leave her again with all of this. It's easier to cover it up with anger she's already feeling about fact that they didn't stop the virus. Cassie don't want let Cole in anymore. So she can spare the pain when he leave her again. Of couse it breaking my shipper heart to see them like this. They were so understanding earlier. I wish they can be for each other now but... And I have a feeling it's not gonna happen right away.

    ReplyDelete
  36. wait are you saying that Cassie's pushing Cole away because she DOES have feelings for him? i understand her anger and her becoming hopeless. It's definitely understandable no doubt about that. But i don't know what it is but after her seeing him in the Bookstore all i saw was nothing: no feelings, no care, no worry, just nothing. It's like what has happened to them in the past 10 episodes DIDN'T happen, and i know the creators said that it'll get better but there's only 3 episodes left and so far there's nothing. It's like you said they were each other's constant but ever since Aaron came into the picture she's been getting away from Cole and closer to Aaron, and we know HOW close

    ReplyDelete
  37. Scandal: Huck and Sue.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I wish it was simple as that. Cassie is mad at Cole. But when her outburst happened? After she saw Cole is not healthy and she understood why immediately. It's clear for her now: Сole is temporary in her life anyway. Even if they will stop the virus. But for now virus is othere and Cole is dying..So she's angry alongside with her being tired and feeling alone in this fight. I think problems started with Henri. Cassie understood why Cole killed him. But it's still painfull to accept. I kind of have a feeling that's when she really saw Cole for who he is. So she concentrated on a mission. Tried not to care about him. But she already grew accustomed to him. Next thing Cole is gone and she had to let him go. But it was worth it. Virus is stopped, so she thinked. Now he's alive but dying anyway. Cassie don't want to care about him. Why? Only thing he will bring in her life is missery. And she's gonna lose him anyway. It's got me thinking - anger is also one of five stage of grief. For now as I see it she just don't want to have any felings for Cole or show any concern. So she's shut him out. And she's overwhelmed with other problems and emotions. For now her outcome from all of this is anger. But you if ask me part of her is still care. If it isn't why she pay attention to his condition and calls him on it? Or it's just shipper in me talking? Also as I uderstand you wish that Cassie's mourn for Cole after Chechnya was more obvious, her joy of him being alive was less subtle and that she's not got involved with Aaron so quickly? I think most of Cole and Cassie shippers have a similar opinion.

  39. I actually loved the whole sequence in Baby Daddy, because I think Riley really needed to listen to Danny's frustration over being taken for granted.

    Also Jimmy's breakdown was A!Mazing!!!

Having to pick just one scene from the Musketeers was killer. I voted for "Aramis confeses" which only took a slight lead solely for every time Athos had to say "There's more".
But the whole episode was superb it was hard narrowing it down to just that.
