EW has learned that Shameless star Emily Bergl has been tapped to play the Chief of Staff’s former spouse Janet, to whom he was married before coming out.
Bergl will appear during Thursday’s episode, which features a look at Cyrus’ relationships throughout the years as he faces his impending marriage to Michael (Matthew Del Negro).
“Shonda [Rhimes] wrote a really Cyrus-centric episode,” Jeff Perry recently told EW. “How did this man come to be this man? She wanted to go into three or four different time periods of his experience. A couple of them are about James [Dan Bucatinsky] and Cyrus, and they even have a bit of a reverberation and a facet of something that haunts Cyrus.”
