EW has confirmed that Reign has cast Rachel Skarsten, most recently seen as Christian Grey’s assistant in Fifty Shades of Grey, as Elizabeth, who is set to first appear in the season 2 finale. Much of season 3 will focus on her character and the drama surrounding her.
“The character of Elizabeth, Queen of England, the only living child of Henry VIII and the murdered Ann Boleyn, looms over Mary Queen of Scots for the duration of her life,” executive producer Laurie McCarthy said in a statement. “Elizabeth has also, without ever stepping onto our stage, loomed over our first two seasons as a forceful and intriguing presence. I have been dying to introduce her to our characters and our audience. Because no single character understands Mary’s unique circumstances more. No character is more of a threat to her happiness and her life. Elizabeth’s debut in the season finale is a catalyst for events in season 3,when Reignwill chronicle the lives, loves and tribulations of three queens: Mary, Catherine, and now Elizabeth.”

PRAISE!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope this doesn't mean Francis dies...
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove her! Since her Body of Prey days!
Francis will die no matter what, the only question is will he survive season 2 or will die in S3.
ReplyDeleteJust don't kill Francis off!
ReplyDeleteThis is a major change, I was not expecting to see Rachel go into a series like this. Love her in Lost Girl.
I suppose they could go into AU territory with the series if they truly wanted to do so. But if not he definitely has to die.
ReplyDeleteYes Yes, i love her and Reign is my favorite show
ReplyDeleteI wish they would already announce what shows will move to summer next season
Maybe she will be even a regular in S3? But Reign already has a lot of regulars, i guess
To the people worrying: Francis isn't dying yet. They said they will show both French and English court next season. If Francis died Mary would have to move to Scotland.
ReplyDeleteShe will most certainly be a regular in S03. Matt Mittovich announced her to be cast for a season 3 regular role. Look it up on on TVline.
ReplyDeleteMary wasn't expelled from France right away, she spent there a certain amount of time after Franics died. I think at least 6 months but not sure. Google it!
ReplyDeleteSince it's pretty evident she will be a series regular next season,it could mean she will take someon's spot-Conde,maybe?
ReplyDeleteIf they want to ged rid of regular i hope it will be Claude or Narcisse. Maybe even Leith, since he is usually nowhere to be seen (i still do not understand why did they promote him to regular, since he is never in the show anyway!
ReplyDeleteI agree with these three choices to get rid of
ReplyDeleteI just hope it won't be Greer/Kenna/Lola ... i really like all 3 ladies lately
ReplyDeletei can't find it :(
ReplyDeletei see it now, TvLine confirned series regular role a few minutes back
ReplyDeleteI really like Lola & Kenns,Greers ok but I wouldn't miss her
ReplyDeleteThey also mentioned it in a Inside Line or AskAusiello about a month, month and a half ago.
ReplyDeleteHe has to die, wethere it's this season or the next. They can take all the dramatic licences they want, but there're some miliestones the show can't ignore unless they're planning to rewrite history, and I don't think they'll go that far.
ReplyDeleteWell, he'll have to die some time if they're planning to move forward in time. There're some milestones the show can't ignore.
ReplyDeleteKenna could leave. She's been pretty useless this season. I'm all for keeping Lola and Greer, though.
ReplyDeleteHm, I really like Rachel Skarsten, but that's not the type of actress I envisioned for Elizabeth. I'm sure she'll bring a lot of fun to the role, though.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree about Leith. He has no storyline, nor is he present in this show-why elevate his status in the first place.Character wise, narcisse is the strongest but he shouldn't stick around for long.Claude is useless. So,yes, before getting rid of conde, they should start with these two!Can they take Lola too?I can't stand her!
ReplyDeleteI love Lola. Especially because of the actress, i loved her since Narnia
ReplyDeleteNot Narcisse. Craig is the best male actor in the show and the only fun antagonist.
ReplyDeletePlease get rid of Claude and Conde.
I have a feeling the writers are going to get Greer and Leith together and write them off. They need to make room for the new character and they need to spend money on the sets for the English court.
ReplyDeleteAlso Mary's uncle, Christian de Guise dies after Francis in history and yet he was killed off before him on the show.
ReplyDeleteYea! TamTam is getting the Royal treatment!
ReplyDeleteI got so far behind on Reign I haven't even seen all of S1 - looks like this will have to be pushed to the top of the summer pile so I can be ready for S3!
Which characters do you think will get the boot after this season logically?
ReplyDeleteHmm, interesting casting choice. Not at all what I was picturing, but complete wardrobe and makeup can make a massive difference.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that Claude will be sent away. Also I can see the writers getting Greer and Leith married and then written them off.
ReplyDeleteSadly as much as I love Torrance I can see Bash dying because the writers don't know what to do with him and they probably want to set Kenna "free" so she can sleep with more nobles.
so season 3 will be more Elizabeth and england centric?. I like it tbh. CW please give me The White Queen vibe with these two queens and change your game for Reign. tho i think is too late now
ReplyDeleteClaude will soon go and marry a Austrian royal.
ReplyDeleteConde will be arrested for going after the crown pretty soon. Think he will try and abduct him by the end of next weeks episode.
Greer and Leith should die away from gonnorhea.
Bash could die in S03 after Francis dies cause he stands in Catherine's way
Lola is pretty much safe till Francis is, just Jr could die soon to give Lola something to do.
Hoping for Narcisse to stay and interfere with catherine's plans to be ome Queen Regan.
The show made a huge mistake playing on a love triangle again this season. They thought they would draw in people while pulling Frary away. They are stooling with killing him what I personally don't like but he'll die next season I hope.
ReplyDeleteIt is not to late for the show to change their curse again but it will tough to draw back viewers but Rachel is a good way to do so.
So,the only ones left are mary, katherine, narcisse,Lola & Kenna?
ReplyDeleteThanks but no thanks. If bash is gone,so am i.
She seems good!
ReplyDelete"Sadly as much as I love Torrance I can see Bash dying because the writers don't know what to do with him and they probably want to set Kenna "free" so she can sleep with more nobles."
ReplyDeleteThat is a major fear I have. With the fighting between them lately, they could easily be setting up to have him ultimately die -- but I sincerely freaking hope not. For me, Bash is a huge draw and one of the best characters, so I hope not! Bash/Kenna does nothing for me so I wouldn't mind that splitting, though.
Don't see them all fall apart at once, Bash I think will stick around through season 3 but not to long either. Maybe theybeven find a way to take him to Scotland. They will introduce a bunch of new characters for sure if the shows reaches the point of let Mary move to Scotland.
ReplyDeleteI only wish they would follow a tone more like The White Queen! This is the CW, however, so it's just wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteI like Bash a lot more than Kenna but the writers seem to love portraying Kenna as a shallow girl who only cares about pretty things. Also lately they are trying to make Bash look like the bad guy all the time so I wouldn't be surprised if they killed him off before the season is over :/
ReplyDeleteMistake number one-They angered Frary fans when they seperated them.
ReplyDeleteMistake number two-They angered Mash fans when they replaced Conde with him.
Mistake number three-They angered the non-shipper fans when they played the love triangle card again after repeatedly saying that the triangle bit is over for good.
RESULT-demo numbers-0.3/0.4.With spring coming,we can only imagine it's future numbers!!
One solid reason for me to drop the show for good!
ReplyDeleteThey shoved kenna with bash only to end the triangle speculation only to replace it with conde!
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty nutty. Elizabeth and Mary never met. If she is going to be a regular Elizabeth has to move to France or Mary to England which is impossible. The alternative is to keep switching from England to France.
ReplyDeletehuh Mary is still in France? Wasn't she only avery short time Queen of France and mostly Queen of Scottland or am I mixing something up. I will wait and see what they make out of Elisabeths Character before I start watching. I looovvvvee the Virign Queen.
ReplyDeleteFrancis is way too old on the show and he never had a son or daughter ,the writers have taken liberties with that , they could kill him off in the last season if they want whatever that is either season 3 or 4.
ReplyDeleteKeeping the Toronto acting scene fully employed... Nice!
ReplyDeleteThey are all too old in the show, and there's non hat history knows of... For all we know he had a few bastards running around, it wouldn't be strange for the time. That aside, if they're finally introducing Elizabeth it would look as if they want to move forward, and for that to happen they need to focus on Mary as a queen, not a queen consort. It's only a matter of time, but it will be shame if they keep stalling only to keep him Francis alive...
ReplyDeleteDo not expect historical accuracy from this show, you'll be thoroughly dissappointed. So far it should be taken as show that borrows historical figures names and use them for a soap-esque tv show. Saying that they take a lot of dramatic licences is putting it lightly.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't age much, right? She was a good pre-Black Canary. :D
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the timing was too perfect to have any other explanation. I never cared for Bash with Mary or Kenna - which is weird considering how much I love him as a character on his own. I practically ship him with a non-existent character, haha.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that about Craig. He was brilliant in Legend of the Seeker and I was thrilled to see him in something else. Sadly he is greatly underused!
ReplyDeleteShe was so sweet while struggling with her powers. And Lori laughlin played her mom original BC. ^_^
