Last Week's Final Adjusted Ratings
About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

Nice recovery for The Amazing Race. Blue Bloods also did quite nicely
ReplyDeleteOutstanding for Blue Bloods.
ReplyDeleteH50 is really in danger to me (even if it's aired on Friday)
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to TAR?Up 0.3 this week.
ReplyDeleteGood night overall!
ReplyDeleteWas there any pre-emption for Basketball or something?
ReplyDeleteAmazing Race did better with DST than the rest of the season.
This is weird.
ReplyDeleteIt'll depend on CBS startegy for next season.
ReplyDeleteIf TGW gets renewed for 13 episodes ala Mentalist and airs on breaks, then CBS can squeeze H50 into the mix with no problem. In fact, it'll allow them to move 2 shows to Sundays if they want to and premiere two shows on weekday
Shark Tank has amazing numbers. ABC should really exploit those numbers.
ReplyDeleteDuring the fall The Amazing Race also pulled this kind of surprises from time to time; it premiered to a 1.1 and then it would recover to mid 1s
ReplyDeleteGreat for The Amazing Race, glad Cristela didn't drop due to DST.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Shark Tank pulls those numbers regardless of where it is on the schedule so might as well be kept on Friday to hold the night up.
ReplyDeleteI still don't really get why The Good Wife should be renewed.
ReplyDeleteCBS won the night with 1.4
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in a long time ABC came in second, with a 1.3
Because everyone in CBS is head over heels over that show.
ReplyDeleteIt has been that way since the show premiered and with only a season left in the plan, CBS will grant the Kings that (also, I imagine The Good Wife is still fairly lucrative and is the only truly prestigious drama on broadcast.)
2 reasons:
ReplyDelete1)It has a huge syndication package - around 2 million I've heard.
2)It brings emmy wins and nominations to the network, increasing its prestige
I heard it makes 2 million due to syndication; that's insanely lucrative
ReplyDeleteThe CW had a show dedicated to commericials? All I keep hear are people complaining about them, no wonder only 660,000 people actually watched it. In between the commercials is just more commercials. lol
ReplyDeleteSwitch it at least to 8pm and give the comedy line up a good lead in and try to bump their ratings.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that ABC is doing solid and the same numbers as ST with almost all their other shows. Maybe put it after OUAT or SHIELD.
It's a bit like when the networks air the superbowl greatest commercials.
ReplyDeleteThis is mostly filler for The CW
Yes, it makes around 2 million on syndication alone so I guess CBS is making even on the show.
ReplyDeleteIt was a repeat, the original had more.
ReplyDeleteABC is more concerned with Shark Tank's health than the comedies.
ReplyDeleteI believe CBS was preempted for basketball
ReplyDeleteIts ad rate is of 60K per 30 seconds, so per episode it should do around 2.4 million on ads alone. Add to that the syndication money and it doesn't only cover the costs of the show, but it is actually making a gain of over a million per episode. Not too shabby
ReplyDeleteIf Basketball impacted 2% of country on Thursday night, guaranteed that it did same (or more) on Friday night in later rounds of tournament. ACC numbers are probably higher as both featured key teams and both were upsets.
ReplyDeleteNot too shabby indeed. CBS will probably keep it for next year and announce it as the final season so it gets all kind of award love for being the final season.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess this is one of those shows where ratings aren't the most important factor. It just seems to me that regardless of the syndication deal it should be doing better, considering it's like the only female-oriented show airing Sunday at 9. Even when it had that bug ratings spike last season it was only to mid-high 1s.
ReplyDeleteI could see them renewing it if they got rid of Madam Secretary, but I guess they'll have both next season.
They won't ger rid of Madam Secretary because, well, for starters, it's already renewed.
ReplyDeleteSecond, they're hoping MS is TGW 2.0 as far as awards goes.
Nice for Hawaii Five-0! Hopefully it adjusts up!
ReplyDeleteIt'll defenitely should be doing better, not only due to skew, but in my opinion the quality should appeal to a broader audience. Sadly, it doesn't.
ReplyDeleteLuckily for the show, syndication is the most important factor and it brings it. It gets paid a lot of money.
Its actually doing good on Friday.

It fares so poorly in syndication that Hallmark doesn't have it on the schedule. It has terrible live ratings. (1.0 this week) and it's quickly aging out of award contention. There are also very excellent dramas on the schedule that don't receive the critical attention, but are good nonetheless. Elementary has exceptional acting (for a quasi procedural) and a 3 mil per ep deal through WGN America, and people here call it a "mega flop" yet TGW gets licked all over because it fell into favor with academy voters early. I like TGW, but I'm tired of people acting like it's the only thing worth a crap on broadcast. It's overwritten like late-years West Wing and I'm bitter, lol. Not against TGW, really, but over the polarity of voting and awards. I was a huge XF fan back in the day and it was a frustrating ride until Gillian Anderson finally starting receiving recognition.
ReplyDeleteHallmark might have pulled TGW's syndicated repeats off the schedule but they are still paying CBS.
ReplyDeleteOr do you really think CBS didn't include a penalty clause in the syndication contracts in case the network pulled them?
As for the rest, I can't really think of a broadcast drama that is even operating on the same level as The Good Wife. There are shows that come close (Person of Interest, Hannibal...) but certainly not Elementary.
It's all subjective. Person of Interest's writing is uneven and the acting is decent, but no one on TV brings the same level as Jonny Lee Miller week in and week out. It's underrated. Hannibal is very good. My point is not to say TGW is bad. Just that it's not the only game in town.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure CBS did include a penalty clause. But that really brings down the lucrativeness of the deal, no? If that's the argument about keeping a show that's dancing with fractions now in its fifth year.
Pretty happy for them and Hawaii :)
ReplyDeleteYou know the end is near when the viewers come back to Glee.
ReplyDeleteBoth Elementary and TGW do rate rather badly for their day and timeslot, I wouldn't put one over the other.
ReplyDeleteThe deals will bring both of them money regardless of how the episodes fair on syndication and regardless if they are shown or not.
Syndication is what keeps both shows alive, and Elementary's mega deal could easily keep the show around for as long as 7 seasons or even more.
I don't compare both shows, for starters I don't even watch Elementary so I can't even do it.
Fair enough! :) I hope E gets seven seasons, but man, sometimes it looks bleak. I'm hoping the Hulu deal helps find an audience.
ReplyDeleteNo, Person of Interest's writings is superb. Is really something to behold how they managed to make two AI machines appear as true Gods pulling the strings over anyone else.
ReplyDeleteAside from the male lead actor, who I have a personal distaste for but that's besides it, the cast is top notch. Do I need to speak of Harold, Root and the guy who runs Samaritan? (his name eludes me).
And JLM is fine but it's not on the level of other actors on broadcast tv. Viola Davis rips him apart. Or James Spader.
Actually, The Good Wife is in its sixth year and I'm sure the penalty clause was near the amount Hallmark was paying for TGW's syndication (also, remember those $2 million aren't from Hallmark only; it's a multi-platform syndication deal).
Do fridays have DST-immunity?
ReplyDeleteYay Glee rose in demo & Viewrs, knew old fans would come back for the last two or three episodes
ReplyDeleteFor your peace of mind, think that Elementary went as low as 1 at the start of the season and now it has bounced back at 1.5. Its ad rates will be considerably lower, but it will still bring quite the profit, and the syndication deal it has already cover the cost of every episode, so every penny the show does with ad rates go immediately to profit. Elementary could rate sub 1s and it would still come back for years, it is making that much of a profit.
ReplyDeleteEven if CBS has to burn the show off on Saturdays, it could still air there for years. That's how lucrative the deal is
That does make me all warm inside, thank you. lol
ReplyDeleteNo problem :)
ReplyDeleteIt never really "recovered". It had one 1.4 in October which immediately dropped to a 1.0. Unless you count the 1.3 finale as mid one, it only had one mid one in its fall run.
ReplyDeleteNo basketball on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteNope.No basketball last night.
ReplyDeleteYes, but there was basketball elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat's why i said east coast.
ReplyDeleteCBS was preempted in Charlotte, Richmond, Raleigh, Greensboro, Roanoke, and Norfolk.
ReplyDeleteActually there was basketball on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteNot in prime time on the east coast. .. Do you really feel it necessary to argue the point or are you just trying to bust my chops and be a smart ass...
ReplyDeleteThere was basketball in the market of Norfolk which is on the east coast, so there was basketball somewhere on the east coast. I'm just trying to correct a point here.
ReplyDeleteYep. Norfolk is on the east coast Congrats Alan.
ReplyDeleteBut not in New York, Mass. N.H. R.I. N.J. and some other states i didn't include....
Ok so we can agree there was at least basketball in a small portion of the east coast. Sorry if my nitpickyness was bothering you.
ReplyDeleteYour nitpickyness did bother me lol, but to be honest i was in a cranky mood.My apologies Alan.
