Pretty Little Liars will be staging a major time-jump in its sixth season, E! News can exclusively reveal.
While the jump won't happen within the first 10 episodes of the ABC Family hit's next season, fans can expect to see Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) graduate from high school on-screen, but gain "the freshman 15" and attend college off-screen before the season ends.
"I did say we're going to do a four-year time jump and we will honor that before the end of season six," executive producer Marlene King tells us. "It's really exciting I can't wait to see the girls after they come back from college. It's going to be awesome."

So "A"'s name is Charles DiLaurentis. Was this always your plan, to have Charles be "A," or has it evolved as the show has gone on over the last first years?
I started dropped references in some of my earlier episodes, like if you go back to season three where the girls see the mime and the mime's name is Charlemagne, which is the root name for Charles. So we've been dropping little nuggets along the way. And those anagrams that came out a couple episodes ago—it means a lot of different things, but one of the six or seven things it means is Charles DiLaurentis. I want to say that I had this idea in the back of my mind and I played with it for a couple of months before I pitched it to the room, sort of saying, ‘Is this going to work?' And I didn't get one negative reaction. But we did not tell the studio or the network until not too long ago. [Laughs.]
Did you ever consider having someone else be "A" before landing on Charles DiLaurentis?
We did. When we decided that we were going to reveal that Mona was original "A," which was always our intention, we started to think, well, someone needs to steal the game from her. Who is Big "A"? And I had three people in mind, all of whom were great choices. But then I made this immediate shift and said, "Well, what do you think of this?" And everybody really liked it. Just by the looks on people's faces, we all knew it was just so exciting and interesting.

So Charles is Big A, not A, right? I´m so confused. So there´s Big A and then there´s A, there are two or it´s just Big A?
ReplyDeleteThe finale did a pretty good job which i didn't expect at all.It'll be very interesting to see how the girls get out of that prison/dollhouse and getting to know Charles's backstory.I'm pretty sure jessica have him up in his childhood for some unknown reason but after growing up,he felt alison took his place in that and replaced him.So,he killed his mom & tried to kill Alison.I'm still not sure why he's after the girls though.Andrew is most likely his geeky henchman and a creep.This hiatus is going to be torturous.

ReplyDeleteThe episode was excellent, really cool and creepy, I loved the dollhouse. Finaly other people know about A. Dissapointed a bit about the whole Big A Reveal, it was over hyped, it wasn´t that much

ReplyDeleteThe episode was excellently layered and the reveal was interesting but not satisfying! Still I will watch the summer season for sure, as summers are always tortures and long.
I'm surprised we didn't get a season 6 trailer, we usually get one.
I assume Charles either tried to kill Jason or Ali and that is why Jessica hid him. He possibly could've been raised by Bethany Young's family or been their neighbor and that was the reason why Jessica took care of her. So did Charles kill Bethany?
I hope for the story to be good.
Maybe Charles loved bethany as a sister and we all know betheany was lured to rosewood by alison and made her life a living hell,he thought alsion was responsible for his foster sister's death-so he went after her.

ReplyDeleteI'm Knda Dissapointed -we've never heard if CDL before,why wouldnt Ali & Jason mention him, no pictures.Big A was suppossed to be someone we knew( unless they're using a fake name like Andrew or something).Andrews shady,listening in on phone calls.Im glad on one hand, I'm happy Mnas alive cause I like her but on the other hand,it kinda stupid to do that.-" kill her" then it be a cop out & Reserecting her she's not really after all,
ReplyDeleteSo the second half of season six will be "four later" post college and Über As still after the girls?!Why would Charles do this to Sli,Mona & the other Liars? These girls sure have a lot of engines-Jenna,Shauna,Mona,Charles and whoever Über A is.
I'm hoping the first block of episodes back after the break will take place three or four months after the final and Spencer, Hanna, Aria, Emily, and Mona aka 'Alison' will find them selves still trapped in Andrew DiLaurentis's hideaway.
ReplyDeleteAfter the summer break beginning in August when the show returns in January a four year time jump will have happened and Spencer, Hanna, Aria, Emil, and Mona aka 'Alison' would find themselves still Charles 'houseguests'.
I don't see them being there after the four year jump. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were there for a few episodes at least. Having them there for the whole season would have been very interesting. But now that the 4 year time jump is happening mid-season, I doubt they'd still be in the Dollhouse after that much time.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people were disappointed with the episode cause they expected way to much from this. If you put aside the fact from the a reveal it really was a stellar episode. It was very creepy and twisted and defiantly one of my favorites of season 5
ReplyDeleteThat it would. Agreed it will likely not happen but it would take things to a "whole other level" if the 'Liars' were a) houseguests of Charles for 3/4 months when we see them next and b) after the summer break we find them still 'vacationing' with Charles aka "A".
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesing to see all the Liars scenes take place inside the Dollhouse maybe even expand the compound so they can venture outside ( solve a few mysteries ) maybe even have it located on a island so they are truly trapped well the rest of the show goes on back in Rosewood .... even Ravenswood.

ReplyDeleteI hope they explain how Bethany was wrongly I'd as Ali( though she wire the same outfit as Wli & had similar looks/builds)-would the family have to I'd her?what about DNA,dental records that would prove she's not Ali? It seems Ali set Bethsny up to be her twin/decoy when she went on the run.
