Loved - All things Daryl, Morgan and Rick. Finally, Rick and Morgan are reunited, even thought Morgan looked disturbed by Rick. Michonne took her katana back. Hated - Gabriel's whining self is still alive.
It might not have been a big giant set piece but it was intense and Morgan is back! The Wolves look scary and next season will get crazy. Comic book readers will know what I am talking about.
Well, this time I know how the last scene continues: "Morgan! If I would have known that that the saver of my life comes I would have finished work sooner."
I might actually call this the absolute WORST episode of the series. I've been enjoying this half of season 5 but this finale was just awful. I hated how Glenn let that killer live and I really hated how the group just decided to forgive Gabriel despite him deserving to die. This episode also did not require 90 whole minutes since 80% of it was filler. No major death occurred, and the only good thing about the episode was Morgan's return. I've never been so disappointed in an episode.
I feel cheated. Where were the major deaths? Why is Gabriel and that jerk that went after Glenn still alive? I thought the ep draaagggged. The only good thing was Morgan, and Pete's death. I did like Rick fighting walkers alone, though.
Gabriel left that gate open and I think he knew he did. He should so be dead.
This ep was disappointing for a finale. The Wolves stuff wasn't enough. The ep just didn't live up to the hype.
I was at the edge of my seat the entire episode, and I'm really looking forward to season 6. I'm glad the group is still in Alexandria and not off in the wild again.
Man, I was beginning to like Reg and his Hershel-isms. Was hoping Deanna would bite the dust. What a great finale. Those Wolves guys don't seem intimidating at all though, they have no idea what they're getting into! Rick and co. would eat them alive, especially with the always awesome Morgan now part of the team
Absolutely atrocious? I don't see how this episode could even remotely be that offensive.
Was it perfect? No. But honestly, no episode in the series has ever been perfect anyway.
I enjoyed this finale more so than the previous season finales because it wasn't predictable at all, and the writers kept you guessing all the way up till the end.
They also did a good job of setting up next season, so all in all, this finale was very entertaining and had enough of a cliffhanger to keep things interesting for next season.
Lol, this episode saved the entire season. I just hope it snowballs into the next Season as just a few weeks ago Walking Dead fell pretty far down my must-c-tv list.
I'm pretty sure the mother got into the house and Duane couldn't kill her so she ended up biting him and then Morgan killed his wife but I think it hasn't been confirmed if he killed his son as well :)
The episode frustrated me to no end, so many dumb desicions but it was worth it wih what transpire in the final moments. In a way it reminded to teh S2 finale when we see the prison at far. That speech and everythign that went on.
Can I just say BREATH TAKING I literally loved ever scene every moment just everything about it between this wrestlemania and the iheart music awards I can't process this
Amazing finale! This hit on everything I like about TWD! It's not about the major deaths or huge action... It's about the characters!
I really enjoyed how the end of the episode was formatted to have the arcs of Sasha, Glenn and Rick mirror each other (To a lesser degree Morgan earlier in the episode as well). Each had the option of killing a man (or people) or letting him live. Each was more of a personal struggle with their own humanity than some epic life or death struggle against a mob of walkers. That sense of internal conflict was more intimate and much more powerful to me!
We got to see the group has actually evolved since they reached ASZ. - Rick who appeared to be losing it at times showed he is the leader that town truly needs. - Michonne realized that the safe zone is not Utopia... No more sword on the mantle. - How awesome is Scarol? - Eugene got forgiveness from Abraham! Thanks to a clever 'accidental' pan drop! XD - Daryl on the road is a lot of fun, but having him encounter Morgan was just awesome. Better yet Morgan saved their asses - That's one hell of a introduction!
Speaking of introductions.... Newly Zen and peaceful Morgan searches the world for the one man he knows is still alive and the one man he thinks is worth looking for, Rick. He stumbles onto Daryl and Aaron learning that Rick is back at their home base. A place filled with hope that is safe and civilized.. Then the first thing he sees after entering ASZ is Rick putting a bullet into a man's head! Yowza!
The Wolves were teased long enough and introduced in this episode to set up next year - Not to play a huge role in this finale. Their traps in the food trucks were deadly and ingenious. I'm happy with the answers we got regarding them... Looking forward to seeing more of them next season!
Father Gabriel..Sigh... The man has been such a poor excuse for breathing, and this episode with the gate was maybe his worst choice yet! It's one thing to fear for your life and run, or to not open doors in fear, or even to call out the group that has saved your ass multiple times, but it is something entirely different to leave the gate open! To endanger everyone without a thought is nearly unforgivable to me....
And yet... Did Gabriel finally have a breakthrough now that he broke down? Sadly I suspect it is just another breakdown and more shenanigans will follow....
I really enjoyed this episode and I think the extra time allowed for the story, or stories, to breath a bit more. For each to build at a natural pace instead of being forced to unfold at breakneck speed. Best episode of the season and best finale of the series to me...
Agreed. This was one of the few finales I could not predict the basic sumamry of before watching. I loved that aspect!
I also loved the more personal nature of the episode. Instead of some epic action-filled battle for the group's survival a number of them had their own personal struggles to overcome.
Reg was a very unexpected death to me! I was enjoying him as well...
I think keeping Deanna around allows for better drama next season, but I'm with you... At some point she needs to get killed! XD
Yeah so far the Wolves seem interesting, but not something made of nightmares to fear in the dark. I mean one man with a stick overpowered two men wielding knives who has the element of surprise on their side. I can see potential to be good villains next season though!
I think I can say...BEST FINALE EVER! And why do I say that? Because we got a lot of Morgan in it. I hate Father Gabriel, I like the actor better on Teen Wolf, his character is bada** over there.
That more than made up for last week's rubbish. Great episode - definitely the strongest of 5B. Only real weak points was Gabriel (I was literally yelling at my screen for him to get killed by the walker on the road and then again for Sasha to shoot him). Also wasn't overly a fan of Sasha in the walker pit - mainly because it was so bizarre - but that plotline isn't so bad.
Guessing that Deanna will let Rick stay now. Rick really didn't hesitate to kill Pete (quite right too). Also, Rick needs to put a knife/bullet through Reg's head.
MORGAN! Morgan has found Rick, finally! I really hope they don't kill him, because he's awesome.
That was awesome. I love the Alexandria storyline and how grey everything about it is. Rick Grimes is one of my favorite characters in any type of media ever, his evolution really is something to watch and probably the single best thing about The Walking Dead. I am very happy they resisted the urge of killing a character just for the sake of doing so like they did in the past with Andrea and Beth when that didn't really serve the stroryline. I feared a lot for Glenn, Sasha and even Daryl a bit. I do wish someone had killed Father Gabriel though. I despise that man.
Personally I am quite happy they realized they didn't major deaths for the finale to be worth it. We've had enough of those this year and I think the two biggest mistakes the show has done was to kill off characters for the sake of being a finale that had potential to move forward and whose deaths didn't feel needed (particularly Andrea and Beth). So I am very happy they didn't go there.
I haven't read the comics so my knowledge is extremely limited but I recall a lot of people saying that Sasha was the one replacing Andrea storyine wise? Am I mistaken?
I had a thought as I went to sleep.. I don't think we actually saw who Rick shot. Someone will have to give Reg a skull piercing at some point, right? When watching I assumed Rick was looking at Deanna holding Reg's body when she told him to do it, then he turned around and shot Pete... But.....
Is there any chance that rick shot Reg in the head to stop him from turning and did not execute Pete for killing Reg?
Maybe I will re-watch and look at that scene again...
Thanks. I know what it leads to in the comics, I've been told. I still wish they hadn't killed her off though. It was by far the worst thing the show has ever done in my opinion, with killing Beth a close second. Not because it hurt to loose the characters (There were others in which that happened but in which I felt it made sense) but because I felt it didn't bring anything new to the plot and that the characters had a lot of potential left given were their storylines left. Andrea spent an entire season on the outs with the group, I would have really liked to see her integrating it back in Season 4.
No, we saw the shot from below and so didn't see who was shot. But Rick did turn in the direction of Pete and then you had Daryl, Morgan and Aaron looking quite shocked, so I assume that he shot Pete.
: O Chris, choosing just one, it's too hard, especially after having a 90 minute episode! Lol -I keep waiting for you to throw in an "all of the above" option
● It was interesting though how all OF OUR people were the ones to actually show restraint: Rick/Pete, Carol/Pete, Glenn/Nicholas (or Nick the Dick as I refer to him) Sasha/Gabriel ● As much as Gabriel NEEDED to be stopped, he IS the reason the community Finally Gets It. His mental breakdown let's the outside in, something they've not had to deal with.
- Loved the end shots: Carl n Judith Maggie praying w Sasha and Gabriel Michonne putting her katakana back on ............ Not only have the community come to terms with what they were Ignorant to, but the Grimes Family is learning to find that balance of outside/inside the walls. . . . . . . Which comes non too soon- as the WOLVES will be coming, and they will NEED EACH OTHER
was I wrong to expect this episode to be 80 minutes long? It was supposed to be a double episode, 40x2=80...maybe it was about the double the commercial time...
-so is morgan some enlightened ninja warrior now? Give me a break...his judgemental look at the end of the episode...
-is there more wolves than those two guys in the pack? I doubt they would do all those things they did on their own. And CAN ANYBODY explain what was the purpose of all those walkers in that trucks?
-Aaron was looking for some survivors so far from home bat Gabriel found one not that far from Alexandria, a little bit too late but still...
-I really dont get Sasha's behavior.
-Carol is really well written character.
-really good episode because nobodu died, nobody important.
I don't think Morgan was really judging Rick. I think he was just surprised at how much Rick has changed since he last saw him. I do expect a possible lecture from Morgan to Rick, though. Morgan will be the more peaceful one and Rick is more the warrior.
Okay, maybe I was overreacting calling it absolutely atrocious lol. But this episode just pissed me off and rather than surprise me in a good way, it did the exact opposite. I thought all the other finales were a lot better, even season 3's finale which kinda sucked.
is this a serious question?...did u watch the show??? Michonne NEVER took her Katana off the mantel....Pete took it off...she was returning it back when she realized she wanted to keep it on her back for now on.
Actually, they kept the characters basically the same and just switched who was a man and who was a woman. Douglas was the leader and Regina was his wife.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
WoW !!!
ReplyDeleteLoved - All things Daryl, Morgan and Rick. Finally, Rick and Morgan are reunited, even thought Morgan looked disturbed by Rick. Michonne took her katana back.
ReplyDeleteHated - Gabriel's whining self is still alive.
It might not have been a big giant set piece but it was intense and Morgan is back! The Wolves look scary and next season will get crazy. Comic book readers will know what I am talking about.
ReplyDeleteWell, this time I know how the last scene continues: "Morgan! If I would have known that that the saver of my life comes I would have finished work sooner."
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!!! Loved the speech that Rick was giving before he was reunited with Morgan still can't stand Gabriel he suck a punk
ReplyDeleteI might actually call this the absolute WORST episode of the series. I've been enjoying this half of season 5 but this finale was just awful. This ep was disappointing for a finale. The Wolves stuff wasn't enough. The ep just didn't live up to the hype.
This was easily the best finale of the series.
ReplyDeleteI was at the edge of my seat the entire episode, and I'm really looking forward to season 6. I'm glad the group is still in Alexandria and not off in the wild again.
On "Talking Dead" Chris Hardwick asks Lennie James why Morgan Jones seems so Zen now after being so unhinged
ReplyDeleteLennie says Morgan has had a "insightful experience" ( that he can't talk about now .. you'll see in season 6 ) and it's changed him.
Could it be Duane ? Could he be alive ? What is the 'story' behind Duane's 'death' again ?
There are about a dozen episodes of the Walking Dead that were worse than this finale.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 sucked but it didn't have any episode that I would call absolutely atrocious.
ReplyDeleteGabriel is a traitor. Period.
ReplyDeleteMan, I was beginning to like Reg and his Hershel-isms. Was hoping Deanna would bite the dust.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finale. Those Wolves guys don't seem intimidating at all though, they have no idea what they're getting into! Rick and co. would eat them alive, especially with the always awesome Morgan now part of the team
Yet to watch. My only question: Will S6 begin where S5 leaves us? Or will there be a time jump?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely atrocious? I don't see how this episode could even remotely be that offensive.
ReplyDeleteWas it perfect? No. But honestly, no episode in the series has ever been perfect anyway.

ReplyDeleteThere is an after credit scene, and it appears that season 6 will begin right after the events of season 5 with no time jump.
ReplyDeleteThe episode frustrated me to no end, so many dumb desicions but it was worth it wih what transpire in the final moments. In a way it reminded to teh S2 finale when we see the prison at far. That speech and everythign that went on.

ReplyDeleteIT WAS AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. :)
ReplyDeleteAndrea who? :P
ReplyDeleteDid anyone hmmmm that blonde 'Wolf' in the opening scene looks familiar ?
ReplyDeleteIf so he played Cary on The Originals.
The actors name is Jesse C. Boyd.
The dark haired 'Wolf' is named Benedict Samuel.
Great episode and that ending was amazing.
ReplyDeleteAmazing finale!
ReplyDeleteThis hit on everything I like about TWD!

I wonder if the TV series will follow the comics regarding the 'Wolves'.
ReplyDelete( comic spoilers below so read at own risk )
The 'Wolves' appear to be modeled after the comics "The Scavengers".
( the 'group' consists of it's leader Derek ( a bald man ) and five other members, one being female.
That was awesome. I love the Alexandria storyline and how grey everything about it is. Rick Grimes is one of my favorite characters in any type of media ever, his evolution really is something to watch and probably the single best thing about The Walking Dead. ReplyDeleteMichonne, Sasha and Carol are all "sometimes" replacing Andrea. Michonne replaces her in the interaction with Rick and in the Comics this leads to...
ReplyDeleteI had a thought as I went to sleep..
ReplyDeleteI don't think we actually saw who Rick shot. Someone will have to give Reg a skull piercing at some point, right? When watching I assumed Rick was looking at Deanna holding Reg's body when she told him to do it, then he turned around and shot Pete... But.....

ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough the 'roles' are reversed in the comics ( SPOILERS beyond this point )
ReplyDeleteIn the comics Reg is the leader/ex senator well Deanna is his wife and Pete ends up sliting HER throat.
No, we saw the shot from below and so didn't see who was shot. But Rick did turn in the direction of Pete and then you had Daryl, Morgan and Aaron looking quite shocked, so I assume that he shot Pete.
ReplyDeleteI'd hate it if he didn't shoot him.
They are The Scavengers, just another name change.
ReplyDeleteSince we have met two of the wolves already I guess we have three others ( one female ) to look forward to plus their leader Derek.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but The Wolves should meet the same feat as Gareth and the Termites. Killed off quickly.
ReplyDelete40 minutes blah, blah, blah........23 minutes wow, tense, wow, tense and that last scene was great. Rick rules.
ReplyDeleteWhy they keep father Gabriel alive, I hate the character.
I voted 'poor', that has never happened over the 5 seasons I've watched TWD now. I just expect more of the show now, this was not satisfying for me :/
ReplyDeleteGuys remind me please where we last seen Morgan?
ReplyDelete: O
ReplyDeleteChris, choosing just one, it's too hard, especially after having a 90 minute episode! Lol -I keep waiting for you to throw in an "all of the above" option

ReplyDeleteI don't think Morgan was really judging Rick. I think he was just surprised at how much Rick has changed since he last saw him. I do expect a possible lecture from Morgan to Rick, though. Morgan will be the more peaceful one and Rick is more the warrior.
ReplyDeleteGabriel just didn't care he left the fence open. Why he is still alive is driving me crazy.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think this ep needed the extra time, too. Alot of it dragged.
I love him on Teen Wolf, too. Gabriel just sucks. He's a great actor for pulling it off because he's great on Teen Wolf, but I can't stand Gabriel.
ReplyDeleteOMG...Awesome Finale !!!!!!!... my few Likes that nobody has said.....
ReplyDelete---Loved when Tara opened her eyes and Rosita gave her that Big Beautiful smile
---Loved when Carol called Rick "Sunshine"... in fact, i LOVED all the Carol scenes
---Loved when Rosita dropped that pan... she's the BEST
---Loved my new Ninja Morgan...i hope he teams up with Jesus later...☺...
Had me on the edge of my seat. I kept yelling and talking to me screen
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe I was overreacting calling it absolutely atrocious lol. But this episode just pissed me off and rather than surprise me in a good way, it did the exact opposite. I thought all the other finales were a lot better, even season 3's finale which kinda sucked.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how you could say S3's finale was better than this one.
ReplyDeleteS3's finale was hyped to be a huge all out battle between Woodbury and the prison, and literally nothing happened.
We had a lot more plot movement in this finale than we had in the S3 finale.
When did Michonne take her katana off the prop?
ReplyDeleteIt's 90 with commercials, so not a double ep, rather 1.5 of an ep. Minus commercials that's just 60 minutes compared to the usual 40.
ReplyDeleteis this a serious question?...did u watch the show???
ReplyDeleteMichonne NEVER took her Katana off the mantel....Pete took it off...she was returning it back when she realized she wanted to keep it on her back for now on.
So who did RIck shoot in the last scene?
ReplyDeleteWhen they said 90-minutes episode they meant 90-minutes including commercials
ReplyDeleteActually, they kept the characters basically the same and just switched who was a man and who was a woman. Douglas was the leader and Regina was his wife.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it could have been anyone other than Pete.
