  1. Voted awesome! Cast feels good together, lots of things to punder about, and very atmospheric. Just wanted to let those of you know, that have A&E On Demand, that the second episode is suppose to be available to see in advance!

Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing where this all goes!

  3. Finally at least this one is more likely to have a Season 2 then the French one. Which I know its coming now, but felt like I was waiting forever that I forgot about it.

Glad I got to see India Ennenga again.

  4. Just watched the French version and it was absolutely amazing. Season 2 comes in 2015. Not going to watch this version because u know it won't be as good.

  5. Supernatural shows I tend to be ok with remakes, I mean I only have 1 example at the top of my head, Being Human, which was much better in US then UK, tho UK has good first 2.5 seasons. I feel like with better budget US is able to do more with supernatural stuff. Plus in this version I have Cast members I like watching on tv so that's a plus for me.

  6. I have watched the original at least 4 times, and I thought this version was pretty good. For one thing, the show is nowhere near as much of a shot for shot remake as some of the reviews have suggested.

  7. enjoyed the set up of this ep, and like the impressive cast so far, I'll give it a few more samples but it looks good that this will probably make my regular watching docket

  8. Copy-pasting of each frame of the original but with bad-acting and without the beautifulest opening of all times (and of course without Celine Salette). Garbage.

  9. I tried, mainly because I love some of the actors in this production, but I'm not gonna lie - it's just didn't work for me. I admire original version, it had some flaws, obviously, but there was something special in it.

Watching this version just felt wrong & pointless. I've seen all of this and I've seen it in a much better version.

  10. It's funny how A&E said be original when they completely copied the French version.

  11. It is suppose to deviate at some point.

  12. Guess I'm the only one who liked this over the French version (but not by much). Of course there is/were going to be very, very similar but A&E has already set up some big differences already in episode 1 which was nice to see.

  13. It was OK. Not great and not bad. It was a bit slow in places, but equally as a pilot it set the scene nicely and will see how it develops from here.

  14. Agreed, when I saw the poster for this it made me laugh as it contradicts itself!

  15. Well, I said I would try, and I did. And nopes. Les Revenants all the way! I'm sticking to our version.

  16. English is not my first language, so for the most part of my life I had to read subtitles (i still read them from time to time). I watch so many movies from around the world with sub. I don't know, maybe it's just a normal thing for me? Just to be clear - I don't judge people who don't like subtitles. Everybody has their reasons. Besides pop culture is dominated by movies and music "in english", so I can understand for some folks subtitles are distracting .

But I still think they should try to watch Les Revenants, because it's almost a silent movie. lol. Silence is much more important there than dialogue.

anyway, nevermind. Let's hope that the writers and creators behind American version will approach this story in their own, unique way. It didn't happen in the first episode, and it probably won't happen in the next 2 or 3 episodes, but they will eventually put their own mark on the story. Otherwise, why would you even do a remake?

  17. I voted great. I missed the awesome creepy music and the gloomy atmosphere from the original series though.

  18. It was really good. I watch the second on on demand and it was even better. More Simon and Rowan <3

  19. that was some great thing. The reactions from the people is what i found the most interesting. That old guy killing himself... And Will Lucy come back?... Yeah i will keep watching

  20. I was like "WAAAAAAAT? What the heck did I just watched?!". It hit a lot of good points thus I'm looking forward to catch the follow up to see where this show will go.

  21. And then there's the issue of the term "original series" which irks a few foreigners when they see their shows airing on a US channel. However, I do get the idea behind the term, instead of a generic cable channel airing syndicated reruns of TV shows and movies, they'd replace them with fresh content that's new to the channel, hence being "original".

At least, Hoarders is coming back. Now all we need is Intervention and I'll be a happy camper. :)

  22. I absolutely love the French version, so I wanted to see how Americans did and what they changed (turns out not much).

I think it was decent, maybe if I wouldn't have seen the French version I would have liked it a lot more. However I feel like the tone is much lighter compared to the original and the characters aren't nearly as creepy (especially the young boy), this may change in upcoming episodes, but that's how I feel after having watched the first episode.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but something is missing and the pilot didn't grab me.
I would definitely recommend watching the original, the subtitles aren't that bad and it will pull you in way more.

Does anyone know if they're going to copy every single episode?

  23. I was a little annoyed that the writers didn't change one thing. I thought for sure they would have added their own touch but no....I hope the next episode is a little different or i'm out..

  24. I knew you would like this,i on the other hand was disappointed and annoyed that not one thing was different from the original version.

  25. If you do watch I'll definitely check out your opinion and decide if I'll even give it a shot.

  26. I read it will deviate at some point, I think it was a little past the middle of the season. Episode 7 or 8.

  27. I believe Carlton Cuse said it would deviate @ the middle of the season...

I haven't seen the original version myself, but given the way Cuse has gone about Bates Motel, I think his approach is bit more nuanced, than it is about laying on the creep factor. I think they want us to still feel for these people, despite whatever horrible things come to this town and so it's probably meant to be a slow build.

I do still want to watch the original. But What I will say, is how much more I liked this, than ABC's attempt with Resurrection. That came off to me as family melodrama and no atmosphere.

  28. Just like Gracepoint. They changed it up in the last few episodes. Thinking it over i wasn't annoyed but i didn't expect it to be a carbon copy not with the who is involved with the show..

Anyway,i do hope you get to watch the original, even if you have to download it,its worth it.

  29. I can totally understand. I didn't keep up with Gracepoint, and I love Broadchurch. I'm watching last nights episode tonight in fact, but then there are shows like The Bridge that I think were excellent remakes. So even though I know people are disappointed, I still think it can be something special. I keep reading the French version was way creepier, more mysterious, but thinking about an interview I just read from the other EP of Bates Motel siting both hers and Cuses approch to its story telling, I could see the idea being making it a little more nuanced or psychological than the original. have a slower build and focus on the characters identities a little more, but only time will tell.

I hope where ever it deviates, that there will still be enough viewers to give it a chance to be different...
