  1. Awesome start to the finale episodes! Can't wait to hear what you all thought of it :)

Special thanks to Trena who helped me live tweet this week by letting me know when the adverts were on so I didn't run ahead of everybody else. You're a star! Xx

  2. wow... is all I can say!.. wow, wow, wow..... I am going to watch it again! (just in case I missed something :-)

    ReplyDelete
  3. A heck of a lot just happened didn't it! lol. They have put together an amazing finale this year, full of twists and turns. Enjoy your rewatch :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Wow. Dr. Lemay! Wow. And Marguerite needs to die. I HATE that woman!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh. My. Gosh. This was completely unexpected. I also have the episode on iTunes and will be able to download it tomorrow to see what snippets BBCA cut out, but I could not believe what I was seeing.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, she's not in a good place at all is she. Totally doesn't understand Aramis at all if she thought he would run and leave Anne and his friends alone to face the music without him at the end there...

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't know how you've managed to keep this to yourself, Sandi. You are a rockstar when it comes to keeping us spoiler free.

Next Saturday can't come too soon.

  8. Amazing stuff, I'm so glad that it seems to be going down well. Twitter was buzzing like crazy over it!!

I have a feeling that something just before the Constance/Lemay confrontation was cut. I was most of the way through that scene when Trena told me that the next advert break started, and that the scene before that had just ended when the ad break started.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lol, it's hard at times, believe me! Especially when I see that you guys are down or desperate to know bits. Knowing that it really is better seeing it unspoiled is a big incentive though. It blows you away more I find.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I can't believe it...Dr. Lemay! I can't believe it. And Catherine...what a marvelous actress...so poignant. Porthos...such a solid steady presence. D'Artagnan disagreeing with Treville, and the Queen agreeing with D'Artagnan. ATHOS/MILADY!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just opened a lovely bottle of Rioja wine... got my dog, my pillows, my candles.... its the perfect Saturday night! .... hit..... PLAY again!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I absolutely LOATHE Catherine, such a nasty, nasty bitter woman, and I can't imagine that she is going to leave it there. But yes, Marianne Oldham was pitch perfect, amazing performance!

Porthos/Aramis moments were just brilliant, well all the character moments were I thought. It's the same writer who penned The Return, and I ruddy well hope that he's back to write another couple for S3 as he has done wonderful stuff this year imo. He knows these characters so well :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, that sounds perfect! It's nearly 3am here, so it's a cup of chai latte and bed for me shortly I think, lol, Have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  14. This episode just turned everything topsy turvy. The only thing certain about next week's finale is that nothing is certain.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sweet dreams, Sandi.... and may your dreams be filled with all the beauty the Musketeers show on screen ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  16. So how long is the episode supposed to run without commercials?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Exactly, there's a few more surprises up their sleeves yet...

Oh, I have to make a comment about Paul Englishby's music too. Again it was just stunning this week, especially Milady's theme and during the Athos/Milady moments. Some really beautiful scoring :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. They usually run for around 57-59ish minutes. Eps 9 & 10 only run about 55-56 minutes on the previews site though, which is why I was wondering if they had cut a scene or two from the screeners. That can happen sometimes if they don't want a big spoiler to get out before TX. It doesn't sound like anything was added to episode 9 though from what I read on Twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That was totally unexpected. I'm so glad the camera cut away

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is my second favorite episode after the Return. Agree Catherine is a beast. Wow Miathos! Beyond expectations. My respect for the Queen has increased tenfold

    ReplyDelete
  21. Agreed. Not that I have a problem with what it would have looked like, I watch shows with graphic violence in, but they fit the genre of that show and are appropriate.

The Musketeers isn't a show that needs that though. I'm firmly of the belief that reaction is more effective than action in cases like that. Seeing how Constance coped with it was far more important to the viewers than the need for any graphic beheading shot imo.

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG!!! I am still reeling. This was so much more than I could have expected. I loved it. I loved that they gave us the Aramis/ Porthos scene when Porthos found out. I had so been wanting to know how they would handle that. Every ship was well represented. The chemistry between Athos and MiLady was electric. I could feel the pain Aramis was in. And OMG when Rochefort told Ann that Aramis was sleeping with Marquerite. Ohhh I wanted to put out Rochefort's other eye. I know I am rambling(partly due to so much happening in one ep and partly due to pain meds for my broke wrist). My mind is going 1000 miles an hour and I only have one hand to type with. The show just gets better and better. Even though I can't wait till next Saturday, I am also so very sad that this is it. I wish that the series were like most American shows that average 22 episodes per season, but I guess I should be glad it isn't like Sherlock that averages 3 episodes per season.I will rewatch tomorrow on Amazon and see what BBCA cut out and then maybe I will be more coherent and give a more cohesive review.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Absolutely! It's action of the swashbuckling type not body count.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes! I thought the same. Not that it was intrusive just added some much richness to the scene. However as much as the kiss was wonderful. Milady's expression afterwards was one of triumphant not of love. Not a good sign

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, this is why I kept saying not to trust those photos and not to pin any hopes on them as they can be so misleading. The story wasn't about the convent at all really, that was just a kicking off point for Rochefort to get his plan in place because she had fled, and get Porthos away to meet the spy master. Ali has been amazing these last couple of episodes, and she gets even better in the last one. Some of her lines and delivery are just sublime!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I had to miss the last 20 minutes. I'm so upset!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hmm, yeah, I think she was triumphant in the moment, but also very surprised too. I don't think she really expected herself to get lost in the moment like that either.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes! I just keep saying WOW. I can't wait for next week but bittersweet because I don't want it to end. I also wish the season was longer!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hope Marguerite will kill herself and ruin Rocheforts plan to use her against Aramis and Ann.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I had to pick my daughter up from her job. I was tempted to leave her waiting for me though.. haha.. But, couldn't do that. I'll have to see if I can watch it on iTunes or Amazon. :/

    ReplyDelete
  31. So you think she loves and is in love with him? I hope so There was none of the vulnerability from their last couple of scene. On the other hand Athos had his heart on his sleeve, the pleading in his eyes and the half sob in his voice. ...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I must say I didn't see anything in her previous behavior to expect her to be so vengeful

    ReplyDelete
  33. It must be so frustrating to be so excited and only be able to type with one hand! Hope the pain meds are helping though, and you heal soon. Glad you enjoyed it, the character interaction was spot on throughout, people being worried and concerned for each other, offering support, etc.

I have to admit that I am glad that it is only ten episodes though, with it being an hour long it does make it the equivalent of fifteen 40 minute episodes, which doesn't sound quite so bad when you think of it like that. Plus it means there's no awful filler episodes, and the cast aren't run into the ground by working on the show all year round, so they get a chance to do other projects to vary their working life.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Aww, what a shame. Hopefully you can catch the end really soon! I'll have my fingers crossed that Amazon/iTunes will have it up soon.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I can't believe I'm so invested in the show lol!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think this would be the way Marguerite could redeem herself. Lemay's death will weight very heavy

    ReplyDelete
  37. To be honest, I'm not very good at spotting the shippery moments, so I've probably missed a lot of the undertone, lol. I've always got the feeling that Milady likes to think she's the one in control of her feelings when it comes to Athos, but likes to think that he isn't - always telling him that she can tell he loves her still. So to get caught up in the moment like that possibly surprised her a bit?

    ReplyDelete
  38. You are awesome

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes you are right she said exactly that to him in the Market place. Of course Athos brought up her "selling yourself to the Cardinal" I don't see a happily ever after for Milathos. Or Aramis and the Queen. She is Queen first and foremost for all the best reason

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks Sandi. I guess you are right when you look at it that way.. Part of me is being selfish lol because I want more of them. I do hate filler episodes and with 10 episodes we get more like a movie with 10 parts to it. The writing is so wonderful. Not only do we get the action but we get the character interaction. I mentioned in my previous post about the Porthos and Aramis moment. The writers could have just left it with Aramis telling the group about he and Ann. But, he and Porthos are best friends and it wouldn't seem right to have not had that moment. LOL it almost seems like the writers are fan fiction writers because unike so many shows where you don't get that character payoff, we do more than not get it. Thanks so much for all you do Sandi!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well, at the end of the day, it is a show about soldiering rather than relationships, and I think it would be very odd if all of the ships lived happily ever after at this point in the show's run. The drama has to come from somewhere on all fronts after all.

However, I do feel that the balance has been a bit off in that sense this season. Not enough romance at the start of the season for those who like that side of the show, and then a bit too much of it towards the middle/tail end for those that prefer the adventure side. It will be interesting to see how things play out next year.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes like you said her "compensation" was greater than expected indeed lol!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh I know exactly how you feel, it would be awesome to have more episodes if it was feasible. My parting shot when I left the round table at the screener last December was "the fans want you back in that boot camp and working on season 3 as soon as possible guys!!" lol

That scene where Aramis told the group...well, Athos kind did too, in his dry, sarcastic tone XD...was just excellent. That's why it had to be the hangman this week, it was such a fan pleaser of a scene that I knew people were going to love it. Just goes to show that you don't need fancy stunts and expensive sets to make the fandom implode with love for a show. Get the characters right and give 'em a good script and that's half the job done :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know what you mean alyslee!! I haven't been this invested in a show since the show "Hercules:the Legendary Journeys" ran in the late 90's. I was a huge fan and as a result, I formed lasting friendships with a group of fans. We still get together to this day. I also was fortunate to become good fiends with several of the cast.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes agree. Boy did we get both romance and adventure in this episode!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yes, and lots of threats ramping up the emotions too. Awesome episode, just been so glad I can finally discuss it with people, lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hi Sandshoe, what a great story.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I so agree with you on every point Sandshoe especially the 22 episodes thing my friends and I were just talking about that tonight. When Rochefort told Anne about Marguerite and Aramis I was crying (actually cried a lot during this episode) the look on Anne's face was poor devastation! Her world is crumbling around her. The look on Aramis' face then he looks away....I too wanted to jabb Rocheforts eye out!!! By the end it's just total chaos and mayhem and no one seems safe. All because of one very crazy mans obsession with a woman! Incredible!! Sorry about your hand!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can't wait to watch it she truly has become one of my favorite characters this season. Such growth from both the character and actress.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's how I was with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and by extension Angel and Firefly. I joined a fan forum and 15 years later I have friendships with some amazing people. We talk regularly and get to gather when we can. Fandom can be truly awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have yet to see the episode (no links are up) but judging from your comments and the promo I just saw for next week I am literally shocked !! So the treason was her affair with Aramis ? I feel like the Queen will be the big death this season but the Kings death seems more reasonable. If the King dies the whole thing should be over but if the Queen dies the Spanish war will begin. Though it could begin for either deaths. I'm really confused as to what happened. I don't mind spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  52. In some ways she is as delusional as Rochefort. Both of them in love with and in their own ways obsessed with these people they truly do not know or understand.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I am also waiting for the links to come up. please tell me when they are. I think I will not be able to sleep until I finally see it. I don´t mind spoiler either. And I am thrilled of everything I read here sounds fascinating. Thanks to Angela and her beautiful recap, specially all the analisis of the Annamis situation.
I want to see it now!!!! Please someone share a link or I´ll go crazy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. One thing I didn't mention in my initial posts were my thoughts about the King. While he is as much an idiot as ever for trusting and believing in Rochefort and being obvilious to all around him he did defend Anne. He seemed to take the whole thing rather lightly and before the episode was near over was ready to let her have access to the dauphin and essentially forgive her.

I'm not sure whether this speaks to his trust and faith in the Queen and her influence on her or rather it speaks to is childlike mentality and fickleness. Either way I have to say I'm becoming less and less invested in this character. While I love the actor and feel he is brilliant I need to see some change and/or growth for me to care about the character. Good or bad I need to see something.

Finally for those that are going to watch both versions the BBCA cut/edited version and non edited version can you report back as to what was cut? Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks Ms Lopez I'm always afraid I prattle on too much!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I do not think the links will be up at all. They should be up by now if that were the case. From what I know, Annamis do not regret their love affair. Anne is also shocked to hear about Aramis' fling with Marguerite. Aramis will face execution along with constance as well. Lemay apparently dies and thats all I know. Holy crap, shit is getting REAL ! I'm so scared. It will either end with Anne and Constance running away with the boys (highly doubt but am willing) or either Anne or the King will die. I do not know why I think it's the Queen tho. Historically it is impossible, however this show does not follow history so it is a possibility. I wanna believe the King dies but Anne is accused of having an affair with Aramis and I think Aramis confirmed that the dauphin is his so couldn't she face execution as well ? I kind of had a hunch that he would do this. The rest I don't know!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Please do not discuss, or share, illegal ways to share copyrighted material on the site. We cannot allow that to happen on here. Thank you guys :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Not at all, If I am not able to see this chapter until next week comments like yours will keep me going. What I like the most is that everything about my Annamis ship doesn´t look lost ... I mean, they both have confessed their love (not to each other but still) and the writers having invested so much episode time in building their ship, it´s almost impossible to end it in a sour note. I choose to believe they wont (maybe I´m in denial IDK lol) . They both have their duty, and the Queen is to France and her son. And Aramis to country and the Musketeers. But for now they have to face the consequences of their actions and have a platonic kind of relationship if they manage to keep their lives at the end of the season. Anyways thanks again.

    ReplyDelete
  59. DOn´t worry Sandy ;) I just want to know when the links are up. not planning on sharing them. But thanks for the advice!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Please don't even talk about the links at all. I'm sorry, it's a subject that's just better left not discussed at all as it's illegal and we could get into a lot of trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Just finished watching it and all I have to say is WOW. That was the best episode of the season. The show started off a little slow but it is going out with a bang.
Was a little sad about Lemay...well a lot sad, was hoping he would have been saved at the last minute.

Athos and Milady set my tv on fire.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ok, No problem, conversation never happened!!! Bon Soir =)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I have a feeling that in the end Marguerite will kill her self.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I agree about Catherine. I feel like we have not seen the last of her. I do love that we pretty much know (and so does Athos) what really happened all those years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think she loves him, but as it seems that she really is the injured party and that she was telling the truth all those years ago....it is a lot to get over. The love of her life did not believe her when she said her brother tried to rape her and had her hung from the nearest branch of a tree within hours.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Pretty much the way I see it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Well Mamie has pretty much said that Athos and Milady will not have a happily ever after but she also said in an interview that they could live happily ever after if they could get away from everything and everyone. I take that to mean that Milady does love him but it is just to messy for them and what fun would it be for us watching the show if they were to live happily ever after.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Agreed, I mean this isn't a soap-opera. I mean I love the relationships but I also love the adventure and the bromance.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Excellent recap as usual Angela! I'm re-watching lol

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm re-watching too!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Speaking of editing, I've been going back and watching Season 1 which I've been able to view through Comcast's on demand feature. However, it's the BBC America edited version. I'm also trying to find the unedited version, but the You Tube versions are quite mucked up. What I've begun to notice are little gaps in the narrative such as in Episode 2 Bonacieu visits the garrison and discovers that d'Artagnan is a wanted criminal and complains that he owes a months back rent. In Episode 3 Constance tells d'Artagnan he has to give up his room. Nowhere in the BBC America versions of Episodes 1 & 2 is there anything about he becoming their renter. I did see one little snippet of E1 where at the end he puts s cloak over Constance's shoulders and says lets go home. That's not in the version I saw. Makes me crazy wondering what else I missed. By the way, tonight's show was AWESOME. Just sayin!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Just re-watched for the 4th time it's 2 in the morning here I need to go to go to bed. So much going on in this episode I notice something new each time I watch it.

I don't think we have seen the last of Cathetine.

Athos and Miladys scenes are hauntingly beautiful.

What these ladies can do with a hairpin! Gouge an eye, pick a lock....I need to get me some of those!

I cried more in this episode more then I have in any TV show and I'm a crier!

I hate Marguerite more with each re-watch. I wish she had died instead of Lemay!

My two favorite scenes are in the garrison when Aramis/Athos tell the boys everything. And at the convent when they are all sitting around the table.

So many great quotes and one liners: two of my favorites....Athos "if Rocheforts advances to the Queen were treason what does that make yours?" Aramis "Love!" And....Anne "Aramis whatever happens I will never regret what happened here."

With every re-watch I love the Queen more!!

With every re-watch I'm glad I got off the fence with regards to Constance/D'Art. Having said that I now realize I'm technically shipping like 6 ships! Annamis, Milady/Athos, Constance/D'Art, Porthos/Aramis, Constance/the Queen and of course me and Rocheforts chest aka "my precious." I'm doomed!!

The look on Anne's face when Rochefort tells her about Aramis and Marguerite...she looks at Aramis, he looks away/can't look her in the eye. Made me want to gouge his other eye. Way to kick a girl when she is down Rochefort!!

As an Annamis shipper I fear that revelation will be more harmful to the ship then any of the rest if it. Still holding out hope for my two favorites...can't help myself it's just the way I am. And it would be a shame for all this build up and development to just be halted.

I can't even begin to process the promos for next week!! I know they are out of order and therefore out of context so I'm not going to even try.

Just please put Marguerite out of our misery...please! The scene where she is screaming and crying "Aramis no..." Makes me want to throttle someone!! I know his treatment of her was deplorable but she is truly delusional. And like I said before it takes two to tango. At the end of the day we are all responsible for our own actions.

Sandi I know you can't give anything away but do you personally feel ep 10 is as good or better then ep 9? Will we end the series with some resolution and feeling good going into series 3 or will there be a cliffhanger or utter chaos and mass destruction and will we all walk away destroyed and heart broken? LOL I had to ask!

    ReplyDelete
  73. When you download, can you do everyone a huge favour and put up a *word we're not allowed to mention*? Pretty please! I totally understand if you don't want to, but I figured there's no harm in asking :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. legit tho guysssss

Does anyone have a link to stream??

    ReplyDelete
  75. to sad that king not died, and anne live with until his death withou love , lonely.

    ReplyDelete
  76. that turn photos show that nothing gonna change especially for anne and the king, aramis , athos. It be like season 1 finale. that's why i decided no longer watching this series. it was nice to met you.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I suspect no one thought to rip it last night. So there will only be a link if someone gets the episode from Itunes. That might take a few days.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Just get it on amazon and it will be the full version http they see on the bbc

    ReplyDelete
  79. Angela, do you know where I can find the episode?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Sandi has said not to talk about or share any links, as they are illegal, on this site. So please respect her wishes :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. Just curious what do you guys think will happen in the season finale?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Are you in the USA or North America. They just put it up on Amazon. I am thinking I can mention this since it is a legal way of obtaining the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I have no idea, I am watching for the 3rd time since last night and all I know is I can not wait..

    ReplyDelete
  84. Zuzana Sedláková15 March 2015 at 13:37

So when I am not in USA or North America I have to wait till Friday? :O I don't think I am that patient!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Perhaps the picture of Athos on the road in the finale is about Aramis and the Queen, not Milady. The Queen was also wearing blue glones in a picture. Did Aramis give the Queen his sash as a farewell token of his love? Was she kidnapped and Muskewers were rescuing her? I am really loving the development of Aramis/queen storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Don't want to say too much for those who can't see the episode yet.. but Dang... it was epic... Best scene by far was Athos and Aramis telling Treville, Porthos and D'Artagnan about Aramis sleeping with the Queen. I was laughing through the whole thing. I loved that it was an extremely serious and tense situation but still had me laughing. There were tons of shocker and 'wow, didn't see that coming' moments too. Just brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Lucky you! I have yet to watch it and I'm so eager to but I know what happens in the episode. I'm not sure about one thing, has Aramis confessed about the dauphin being his ? I hope he doesn't! However after what just happened I do not think Annamis will continue an affair (not that they were having one). I will still remain hopeful tho. They can't just ignore their feelings for one another for the rest of the series if they finish for good. It's clear that they both love each other so there must be some resolution to all of it. The fact that Anne does not regret that night shows that maybe she will be willing to be with him even after all of this mess. Having said that, the only resolution I think could be for them is if she becomes Regent and the king dies in the next episode. She will be perfect, judging by what you guys tell me about how she was brave in this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yep, legal ways of obtaining the episode are fine.

    ReplyDelete
  89. No, Aramis hasn't confessed to anything as yet. The episode ends with the party coming back to the Palace because they have heard about Louis poisoning. Rochefort has only given the king a scare though, not tried to kill him. It was just a plan to pin an attempted regicide charge on Anne, tied to the letter she wrote to her brother about wanting support for her son to be on the throne due to Louis death it looks very bad for her tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Will he confess tho ? I saw in the promo that Marguerite does say to him that the Dauphin is his. I know promo's can be misleading but no one would hav guessed that the Dauphin is his. The only thing she knew was that the Queen and Aramis had an affair. Aside from this, I knew about the poisoning not killing the King and how it was just for Rochefort to frame Anne but I feel like Rochefort will kill the King near the end of the episode. I know you can't tell, and I wish you did but that's ok, i'll just wait till the episode airs next week.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sorry I don't I watched it on BBCA last night at its regularly scheduled time.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Loved and was devoted to all the shows you mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't know it's anyone's guess. This episode had so much going on and so many surprises...a lot I didn't expect and a lot I didn't I just can't imagine what episode 10 will be like. And the promos are so out of order as usual it's very confusing so I'm not going to try to figure it out.

This eipisode was so faced paced you could feel all the characters anger, fear, frustration, determination,.,,I've watched over and over just to get it all.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I enjoyed it, again there's some lovely character moments :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Awww those character moments got to love those! Have to say we have had some of the best character of the season this episode. I loved the intersection between Treville and Porthos last ep but overall this episode has been the best.

Even the acting was top notch for each character/actor. They were all on their game. Even the characters I'm having a hard time caring for or am just flat out despising such as the Queen and Marguerite the actors are really bringing it so to speak.

What I really noticed is all of the sublties whether it be a scene and dialogue such as between the Queen and Aramis at the Convent or just looks between characters. Last night after many re-watches I noticed the look Anne gives Porthos at the table at the Convent when he suggests the master spy won't feel threatened if only one person goes to meet him.

Her look when he rides away. Trevilles almost rolling of the eyes when she turns and says I must not delay an longer I need to get back to Paris. And of course Aramis watching her as she watches Porthos ride away. That one I got on first watch :-)

  96. Louis loves Anne very much, that has been made obvious many times this year, and she has also made it plain that she loves him too. I feel that it is a different kind of love that she and Aramis share, but there is a huge bond between them still, they have known and been with each other for most of their lives.

Anne is not lonely and her son has not been robbed of anything imo. I think that it is right that a parent should put their child's future first, unconditional love what I want to see in a good and strong characters.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yes, there are lots of those moments in this episode, one I really liked was Constance holding both the candlestick and Anne's hand as they heard the commotion outside her apartments. Not knowing it was the Musketeers & Milady coming to rescue them or Rochefort coming to attack them again. She's a fierce one that Constance!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yeah, I don't think she was ever expecting to find herself spending time with Athos like that, or that they would get so close. I think it's inevitable though, whenever they do spend time alone together, they will be attracted to each other whether they want to be or not. Damn chemistry :p lol

    ReplyDelete
  99. Great analogy there Angela, I think you've got it spot on. Neither of them understand the object of their desires at all and have a twisted sense of what their perfect world would have been like and now can't handle how wrong everything has turned out.

There's no way Marguerite was going to be able to take a Musketeer home to daddy in the first place and say "here's your new son-in-law to be." He would have a fit on the spot and never allowed the marriage to take place. She was stupid to have ever think there was any kind of future there at all.

    ReplyDelete
  100. After watching again I have to say I don't know who I'm more fearful for Constance, Aramis or the Queen it looks very bad for all three of them. I really hope this show doesn't pull off a Joss Whedon and kill off a main and/beloved character!

I can't see the show going on without any of those three for obvious and very differing reasons still...

And is it just me or does anyone else feel Rochefort was possibly changing plan direction based on the Kings reactions? He leveled treason accusations against the Queen based on the letters written to her brother. The King while angry at first quickly softens and even defends Anne. So next Rochefort poisons the King enough to scare him and place blame on those close to the Queen which brings her back to the castle where he then accuses her of having a part in poisoning the King.

Now the big zinger the affair between Anne and Aramis. Was this one big diabolical plan? Or is Rochefort pulling out cards (God knows he has so many to play) as he goes/as needed.

And Constance's dream...,the Queen in a black dress, holding a rosary praying we see that in the promo for next week. The King with a cup of wine falling from his hand, blood around his mouth. This ep we see him poisoned. The bloody executioners axe Lemays death, I just wonder if we have seen it all or if the dream had still to play out?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Absolutely loved that too Sandi! Am loving Constance more with each ep and adore the relationship between Constance and the Queen!

  102. Filed a complaint to the BBC about the ridiculous scheduling this year. Three hiatuses takes the mick as it is, not to mention the fact that the US are now a week in front. Put it back on Sundays, BBC!

Totally not bitter that the US got episode 9 first. Not bitter at all.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Understand your frustration Ben and I'm sorry!! As an American I feel it is wrong. It's your show the UK should have gotten it first!

    ReplyDelete
  104. You've nothing to apologise for! It's not like its your fault or anything xD

I wouldn't be so bothered if the UK got it on Saturday or Sunday but waiting a week is going to kill me D:

Missed it as I live in the UK but was hoping to catch it on Couchtuner but they haven't posted it.

Refusing to read the comments here, hope y'all enjoyed it!

Somebody couldn't post the G+ link for me, as I need to hang out with my fellow UK users.
    :)

  106. I was very glad this wasn't Game of Thrones at that moment.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I like Catherine much better than I like Marguerite. At least she has a spine!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I think it was likely Milady was lying. She knew Athos was supposed to be there.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm glad Jessica share that picture of Constance and d'Artagnan on horseback.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Lol, there is that I suppose. I don't really feel much for Marguerite, she's not exactly a villain as such, just an incredibly, annoyingly, dumb idiot! lol :(

    ReplyDelete
  111. How about adding an option to the poll: "No flipping idea, the BBC didn't show it to their licence-payers"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. What episode is it from

    ReplyDelete
  113. Hi Angela, thanks for the great recap. What made you finally 'come off the fence' with Constance/d'Art? Not seen the episode yet but the sense I get is that they don't have that many scenes in Ep9.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I think everybody is reading too much into Constance's dream and it had nothing to do with future episodes...it was to shower us that Emile was on hallucinogenic drugs and that was what her visions were. Sorry that is my two cents
I think all are main characters are safe from death.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I think they made it pretty clear she was not lying. She has nothing to gain all these years later by lying about that and I think Athos pretty much realized it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Hi Liztenn! They don't. There aren't a lot of one on one scenes most are group scenes or scenes with more then two characters. But each ship gets at least one brief one on one scene and all are significant! Including Porthos/Aramis and Constance/Anne. I ship them as well love the friendships!

I was on the fence with them because of the back and forth will they or won't they stuff. There were moments I adored the couple and other times not so much. The defining episode for me with regards to this ship was the last episode...episode 8. The scene at the graveyard when Constance expressed guilt with regards to her husband and D'Art was honest and said he wasn't sorry for his death that was the turning point for me.

As a non shipper of this ship that played out as it should have at least for me. Constance pulled away and needed time which I got she was guilt ridden and needed to process it in her own time. D'Art was frustrated and angry (rightfully so after all the back and forth) and said in life she couldn't leave her husband and in death she couldn't leave him. He told her to take the time she needed but don't expect him to be waiting when she decided she wanted him.

Throughout the episode Constance came around to it in her own way partially due to the offer of marriage from Lemay and partially due to her conversation with the Queen. One of my favorite scenes in the series so far. The Queen admitting her feelings and that she isn't free to love as she wants but Constance is and she should find happiness. That was Constance's aha moment! I love both those women and their friendship.

Constance realizes she has been a fool. What is it she says to Lemay "it's amazing all the ways we find to make ourselves unhappy." I think most of us can relate to that. Her run to the Garrison to see D'Art was very Jane Austenish and I love that.

I know this show is about the Musketeers but I love a strong female character even if she isn't the lead. To me behind every man or in this case Musketeer is a strong woman. I'm all about the girl power. We can kind of say that about the Queen and all her loyal Musketeers.

For me it was about Constance's journey to the relationship. I love D'Art and want to see his growth as well especially as a Musketeer but when Constance got off the fence regarding the relationship so did I. This episode just cemented my love of Constance and the ship.

Man I wish Scoobie and Knitty could read this they would be proud of me :-D

    ReplyDelete
  117. No I appreciate your perspective Athena and hope your right about all the main characters being safe. This is what I love about fandom and fan forums is hearing all different thoughts and perspectives on the shows, characters, ships....it's what makes it fun and exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  118. And also I tend to over analyze so its good to have people to reign me in so to speak :-D

    ReplyDelete
  119. I know they would be proud of you! Great answer. So excited to see the episode after reading your recap. As I am sure you can tell, I love the Constance/d'Art relationship. Thanks again

  120. I haven´t watch it either =( , being outside the US I can´t see it through Amazon. I´m frustated. I´ve seen the preview for episode 10. I need to see this episode ASAP. I´ll try later with google play but I guess would be the same. Tough luck for me

    ReplyDelete
  121. Thanks to one of my lovely friends in the US, I managed to find a way to watch this episode via the Amazon Instant Video service there. I'm still kind of speechless at the moment. Undoubtedly the best of the series - and that's coming from someone who thought 'Through A Glass Darkly' was the all-time best episode of the show!

Incredibly tense, too - especially towards the end. They're really pushing the boat out now that they're aware of the later timeslot, aren't they?!

The highlights have to be Marc Warren and Alexandra Dowling though - amazing performances from those two especially. I really can't wait to watch this again on friday with everyone on twitter - you're in for one hell of a ride.

  123. I had an account for Amazon US anyway because of something I ordered before. You need to use an American address in order to complete the payment, so I paid and then got my friend's permission to use her address :)

Did you need a VPN or something to watch it? I read on the T&Cs that you need to be in the US?

  129. Again what I am suggesting is not illegal .....this is what I do when I want to watch BBC or shows from Cyprus or Greece and I live in the USA. I subscribe to an internet service for those who live abroad and it allows you to watch tv from those countries. Is something like that available where you live.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Oh boy. Thanks Athena1008. I´m not sure we have something like that in here. I guess I´ll have to wait. A week passes very fast. Thanks Anyway for the tip.

    Thanks Ben! :)

    ReplyDelete
  135. So glad you got to see it Ben!! I agree with you I too thought 'Through a Glass Darkly' was their best episode at least it was my favorite. But this ep blew it out if the water if that is even possible!

As Sandi said some truly great character moments. But also action, intrigue, suspense, drama, romance it had it all and some incredible acting by all. But, I agree with you Alexandria Dowling and Mark Warren were probably the best. I love Queen more with each episode and Rocheforts special brand of madness is truly terrifying!

Wild ride indeed can't wait to see what episode 10 is like!!

    ReplyDelete
  136. I'm de-lurking to rave about the ridiculously good episode that was 'The Accused.' I really think it was a perfect hour of television. I love the show, but have found some aspects of episodes this year occasionally lazy or clunky (General emphasis on dark, rather than humour which led to everyone taking themselves just a tad too seriously, Bonacieux's death scene, the lack of character development for the King etc.) but this episode was so intelligently written that the actors just ran away with every scene and I loved everything about it. Favourite parts: the Musketeers' loyalty to their Queen and to one another (Producing their swords when the Queen was denied entry by the red guards, Porthos hugging Aramis, later advising him about the Dauphin, Aramis explaining why he hadn't confided in Porthos, Porthos apologising to D'Artagnan by telling him Constance was brave - there was a real sense of brotherhood in the episode).
The attempted hanging of Milady was breathtaking and beautifully shot. Tamla Kari almost stole the show in the scene where she watches the doctor's execution - it was so moving to watch Constance's terror unfold, I thought Tamla was just super. All of the actors gave wonderful performances - Charlotte Salt has been critiqued this year but I think she has done a great job of portraying a weak minded but tormented character. The King was written best he has been all season in this episode (with the exception of Through the Glass, Darkly), I really really hope that they develop Louis next year. He can't continuously fall prey to every malevolent genius in France! I absolutely love the Queen's character. Missed Athos's nun buddy though, shame she wasn't about to put in an appearance...

    ReplyDelete
  137. Hi smileinthestorm! It was a great episode wasn't it?!? I agree with everything you said. All of the actors were of the charts good. The episode had so much momentum. I too want to see some development from the King and the Queen just gets better with each episode. Can't wait for episode 10!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Ok let me just say one thing, that look Anne gave Aramis when she found about him sleeping with Marguerite was the biggest giveaway to Rochefort that they did in fact had an affair. Otherwise Rochefort wouldn't have had enough proof to prove it. I wish she didn't look at him. Mind you I still have not seen the episode so if there is more to this, tell me.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I've seen a couple clips here and there for this episode and I have to say one thing about Anne and Aramis, something will break them even more a part. Up until now I was positive that by the end of the season they will be together somehow. However, in the scene at that convent it seemed different between them. I would've liked Aramis to have said to her that he wouldn't allow anything to happen to her because of the way he feels for her and because it is his duty, not just the fact that it is his duty. It felt weird between them, it was as if they were holding on to their feelings and just acting as if nothing ever happened between them. I did like the comment she made to Aramis as he exits about her not regretting what happened that night. So far I'm not happy but I will be hopeful till the end of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  140. The only option we have now is to just wait until it airs on BBC1 on Friday. Hopefully this Saturday I'll try and avoid any spoilers for the finale if I can't watch it on the weekend. It is very sad but worth it! I love this show...

    ReplyDelete
  141. Im going to cry if i don't get to see it soon, i wasn't born to be patient lol!!!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Massively Agree!

    ReplyDelete
  143. I haven't seen episode 9 yet because I am from England 😫! But I just wanted to say that Angela I totally get where u are coming from. I too totally shipp annamis! ANNAMIS IS MY LIFE AT THE MOMENT! The love that they both share is very powerful. This season is going to go out with a BANG!!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Please do not discuss, share, hint at or ask for a way to illegally obtain the episode. Do not say that you have obtained an illegal copy if you have. The only legal way that you can only get access to it is if you live in the USA. The site cannot have any comments that are allowing fans to share/distribute copyrighted material.

I do understand that this is a crappy situation, and that the delay before the BBC One airing is a pain. But we cannot allow the site to be compromised in any way by these circumstances. I have had to delete more comments this evening despite asking politely a number of times now. I don't want to start banning anyone, but I will have no choice if this warning continues to go unheeded.

  145. Welcome to the site smileinastorm, what a great post to de-lurk with!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Yup on think they do not lack is chemistry. I love how he saves her from hanging , very gratifying as he had sentenced her to hang. Even the repartee, ie Milady: I'm tired of ppl trying to hang me. Why are you angry with me. I'm the one who almost died.

    ReplyDelete
  147. yes but i think anne be more happier with aramis and her son. Then she talk with constance she was sad, because she cant be with aramis, and her son with his real father. Then why writers started annamis story, if them cant be together and raise their son.
If Louis little bit love Anne, he should allow her have a lover. Louis are jerk and have everything. And according finale he will be fine, annamis over, so no point watching show. Aramis cant be with his son and women he loves, Anne cant be with men she loves.

  151. Argh! I have been unable to watch yet. Part of me is devastated but another part of me is enjoying the sweet, torturous anticipation of having another week to look forward to this ep. 152. My thoughts exactly, Like Jack Sparrow said in POC "If you were looking for a momment...that was it". From the gifs I´ve seen when she told him "Whatever happens , I will never regret what happened here" I was expecting him to run and kiss her there and then, I don´t have the context of the scene , but he just left... I mean, he just left....

    ReplyDelete
  153. I watched the amazon version today. I only so far have noticed a few long shots deleted. ie: in the amazon version, the shot widens to show Porthos walking away after he and Aramis talk. Also in the Amazon version there is a shot of Athos riding thru the countryside to the convent that the BBCA version doesn't have. I think this weeks episode was a few minutes shorter than previous episodes. I have noticed in some of the other episodes, several conversations would be edited out.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Still haven't watched it yet - it was supposed to be my birthday episode, dammit! Very unimpressed with the BBC.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Firstly this is a lot to take in but thats ok because I love reading everyones opinion. I have not seen episode 9 yet, however i've seen a couple clips so bare with me here. I agree with you for most of these. I agree with the fact that Anne and Louis will reconcile after some sort of a resolution and that this might not bode well on Aramis' part. With that being said, this is what I was thinking about the pictures for the next episode. If they included the poisoning of louis in the trailer to make us think he was dead what do these promo pics for the next episode suggest? I think they will reconcile however something big will happen during this time. Rochefort will most likely make a big return and kill the king (this time for certain) and then France will declare war on Spain (as it was mentioned in a promo for next week). What is most confusing to me right now is what is going on with Anne in the next episode and whether or not she will find out about Aramis about to be executed for treason. To add on to this, in the promo pics we see Aramis with the boys a long with Rochefort and Anne. So many things do not add up so maybe we shouldn't rely on the pics just yet! Agh, I'm going crazy right now!

At this point, and lets face it us Annamis fans, it really is risky for them to be getting close and all lovey dovey especially since Rochefort can bring both of them down easily (or can he?). The only way I see them getting together is if she becomes Regent. I personally do want the King to die. It's the only way Anne and Aramis can see each other without it being a huge risk. Now that all of the musketeers know about what happened between them I'm sure they will keep an extra eye on Aramis when he is around the Queen. I wish they could've kept it a secret, it would have been very interesting to watch! As for Aramis and that pic with the bible, they will probably accuse him for the affair and the dauphin being his but he will deny it.

I also agree with you about Milady and Athos. I heard what happened. They both realize they love each other and I'm pretty sure Milady got scared that he might not want to be with her so maybe that's why she fled. I'm pretty sure next series they will explore their relationship a little bit more. Costagnan fans have the better ship and even though I do like this pair, I like Anne and Aramis more. I envy them tbh...

Right now i'm wondering whether they will end it on a cliffhanger or maybe a resolution instead. Big question marks here from me!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Exactly !! He just left...so disappointing there. But I understand why! Hopefully the full episode will bring us much more better scenes than this one, though that scene wasn't so bad either.

    ReplyDelete
  157. My biggest question now is if Anne at some point during the episode confronts Aramis with the sleeping with the nanny revelation? Can someone who has actually seen the episode fill us in (since Jagoda and myself have not been able to see the episode and would be probably just our speculations ?) Thanks a million.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I still get together with friends that I met on the Robin Hood forum 8 years ago - they have become some of my closest friends! We meet up once a year and text with each other almost every day! I have just about talked them into watching Musketeers - although they are a little gun-shy after what happened to Marian. :)

    ReplyDelete
  159. I've re-watched the episode like 6 times now. I don't think it was weird between them necessarily or that they were acting like nothing happened between them. I do think they were both a bit in shock over everything that had just happened.

In the space of what appears to be just one day Rochefort attempted to sexually assault the Queen, accused her of treason in front of the King, presented her letters she wrote to her brother, denied her access to her son, essentially made it clear to both her and Aramis he knew about them and they would pay for it, Aramis had to tell the other Musketeers everything and they found out Rochefort is a Spanish spy.

That is a lot!!! And their lives and potentially their child life are on the line....they are in grave danger. Also the advice that Porthos gave Aramis was still probably in the back of Aa

    ReplyDelete
  160. Anne and Louis will reconcile you see in photo for ep.10 everything is forgotten the king happy again, happy roylal family reunion, annamis over, aramis with nanny. Duty more important than love. end of series 2 finale.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Now that i'm re-watching it I see what you mean. He does seem to be putting aside his feelings in this clip. I can also sense a little bit of guilt from him especially when he says "...because of me." I feel so sorry for these two and hope it ends well. What advice did Porthos give him again ?

    ReplyDelete
  162. Loved it Bunnery and I think you will too! Where in the US are you visiting? Safe travels!!

    ReplyDelete
  163. She does not confront him about sleeping with Marguerite there is no time. She escorted to her apartments by the red guard and Aramis is carted off after Rochefort accuses him of treason for sleeping with the Queen.

    ReplyDelete
  164. no i don't think they talk in ep.10 Anne be too busy playing happy family with the king, i think writers ended annamis in ep. 9. Finale be about king and Anne reunion

    ReplyDelete
  165. Aramis apologizes for keeping a secret from him. Porthos asks "do you love her?" Aramis says "if she were an ordinary woman it might be possible but she is not." He says "I should have just walked away but I've never met a woman like her. Her courage, her endurance, her kindness..." Porthos says "if you truly love her there is only one thing you can do to prove it. Deny it ever happened. That boy is the Kings son Aramis and that is the way it has to be no matter what."

  166. Just got home from a Walking Dead watch party and I'm going to watch episode 9 of The Musketeers again. I just can't help myself!! It's an addiction my friends an addiction!

Last week I wanted a tshirt that says "There is treason in our mists. TREASON!"

This week I want one that says "Ah what's done is done!" But in the "tone" that Athos says the line. And one that says "You will address me as your Majesty!"

I'm all about the good quotes and tshirts lol.

  173. I am with you, I should be asleep because it is 11:30 and I need to get up at 4:30 for work but what am I doing, rewatching my favorite parts of yesterdays episdoe (that means I am watching the entire thing)

    ReplyDelete
  174. Yeah it must be if its not episode 9 (which I haven't seen yet)

    ReplyDelete
  175. I have just finished watching the episode and I can only say... Damn Rochefort and his evil scheeming. For now it looks that he has the winning hand.
It was an amazing episode. The Queen is superb. She is proving to be more fit to reing than the King, her strenght and assertiveness is wonderful. Her character developed in so many ways since season 1. So many layers, she has grown from being a foolish , naive, jealous, impulsive girl into a woman of great strenght

As I am re-watching, I love the exchangin glances between Aramis and Rochefort. It sure looks like they hate each other, and Aramis looks like a giant in front of him (I adore him).
Really Marguerite? why don´t you die. She should have taken the poison. You lying Bi%%&$... How dare you. After all the joy Aramis surely gave you. Well we all saw that comming. Apparently only my beloved Aramis thought it was a great idea to sleep with the nanny.
I would like to thank the producers and writer for giving us the best lines so far. Milady was amazing, Athos has the better lines as always. Also for giving Santiago Cabrera a lot of camera time. Lord he is gorgeous. Please don´t kill him any time soon!!! I beg for his life. If you do, I will stop seeing this show (this is a serious warning).
Can I say the Dauphin is a cute little baby,
And were to start with the Milatos scene at Rochefort´s office...OMG, that was so intense, and the look in her face afterwards... Was it just me or she seemed like she was thinking " Oh dear I got you, I told you you still love/want me" and his look??? like saying Ohh this woman ...
I don´t care for D´Artagnan, he is still soo inmature and impulsive, they need to develop him a little more.
Well I´m done for now. I wish they close the season with an amazing delivery as in last year. But I am afraid we won´t get to see a fight like the one in the alley, most likely they will give us closure in all the relationships. And breaking all our hopes for Aramis and Anne to be together (even though we know theirs is an impossible love)

My guesses, Aramis scapes the noose after the boys prove Rochefort is a Spanish Spy and he will be forever in love with the mother of his child, The Queen gets back to pretend she will have an ..."and they live happily ever after" with his childish husband. We won´t be seeing any closure on Athos and Milady... And Constance and D´Art... well I really don´t care. I just hope Marguerite is taken out of her missery for good. Don´t wish to see her in SE3. Treville will be reinstated as Captain. And Porthos will save the day.

  177. I agree with almost everything....on the Margueritte front I do feel sorry for her and I realized this when I was watching the exectution of Lemay. She was just an innocent girl when Aramis drew her into this and made it possible for Rocherfort to terrorize her. The reason I say I realized this when Lemay was beheaded is I was thinking that if I was Constance I might just say anything and do anything he wanted to escape a fate as the Doctors especially if I am a naive young girl caught up in all of this. We know Constance has been through something like this before from last season and is also more "street smart" where Margueritte is from a good family and was sent to court for a good match. I know why a lot of people do not like her just like people could not see where Milady was coming from last year but in both cases I have sympathy for both. I do think that in the end Margueritte might just end up killing herself.

As much as I hate Rocherfort this season and especially HATE him the last two episodes, I must say I am enjoying the last few episodes a lot more this season then last because he is a worthy opponent and the Musketeers are not always the winners making the "evil" weekly guest star or Cardinal look the fool. I mean it adds a lot of excitement when I am watching a show and it is not like "Tom and Jerry" where Jerry always gets the best of Tom.

What can I say about Milathos except I have watched their scenes a hundred times and they burn up my screen each time. The look on Athos's face when he realized he condemned his wife to death when she was telling the truth about his brother killed me. He looked like he was ready to start crying. I think I enjoyed that scene more than the kiss. That was not just a kiss....that was I am going to tear your clothes off if we were not in Rocherforts office and have a job to do. I also do not think her look afterword was some sort of evil "got you" but more like...Wow he STILL LOVES me an and I knew it. By no means do I think those two will have a happy ending but at least their story line of Athos "hates" her and she killed his brother is finally over.

Another story line that is over is the Constagnon since of course they killed off her husband. I have no doubt she will be saved at the last minute and of all the couples I do think these two will have the happiest ending.

I agree, I do think Aramis (who I also agree is just beautiful) will be saved at the last minute but am wondering if he will take Porthos's advice and maybe after all is said and done walks away from the Musketeers for a while and when we come back next season to maybe a time jump of a few months or maybe year we will see him slowly work his way back to his old life. I am stumped with him. Do not know where his story will go and Santiago was very careful not to give anything awayin an interview I saw with him.

I am just sad there is only one episode left.

  180. I 100% agree about Rochefort and well you know how I feel about his chest :-D It is more then a worthy adversary for the Musketeers and so brilliantly played by Mark Warren. You can just feel the mans madness!
Tom Burke has the most subtle yet emotional facial expressions I truly love him in this role.
I too am stumped on where they are going to go with Aramis after this season or even the next episode. Episode 9 was hard to tell with him they didn't not give much away and while he was clear with both Athos and Porthos about how he felt about the Queen and I guess by extension their son it was almost as if he was keeping his feelings close to his chest so to speak in the scene with the Queen which makes me think that he is thinking about what Porthos said.
In the end both he and the Queen are all about their duty they both spoke of that in this ep and in their own ways they are honorable so it's hard to know where Aramis goes from here. Certainly his behavior has gotten them to a bad place....the look on the Queen's face when Rochefort tells her about Marguerite and Aramis....especially since Marguerite just betrayed them big time. He is probably the only one I am unsure of when it comes to the direction of his story.

  181. Sandi - I am wondering if something was cut for time near the end, when D'Art goes to Constance at the window of the cell. It cut from Porthos riding through a field to D'Art suddenly being set upon by a bunch of Red Guards as he tried to reach Constance's window. It just seemed so jarring to cut to him in the middle of the fight with no preamble as to how he got there. I thought there might have been a bit of the scene edited out. I know I will see it eventually, but thought I'd ask.

  182. Hello musketeers! Heartbreak Ville all around here! Although I was expecting things would go down that path, it is still very devastating to see it played out. Tbh, I am still too shaken up to even form logical thoughts or draw conclusions at this point. I will wait and see how things unfold on Epi 10. Nonetheless, there are 2 things I must say just for my piece of mind. Regardless of what has happened to Marguerite before, if she was used by others or not, to send an innocent person to die for her own selfish reasons is cruel and vicious. I had no simpathy for her before and whatever Aramis did to her does not atone for her behaviour. I hope a due punishment as she well deserves it, death would be too good for her now, I hope she ends up ruined, lonely and in the despair! Too harsh, Lemay would not think so! And the King, please, I am getting so tired of his antics and the same repertoire over and over again, it is a waste of Gage's talent! I hope that we would not end this season at the exactly same place as S1, everything so fresh and so clean for him. I would love to see an enraged and suspicious Louis, borderline paranoid even, and not return to the happy marriage facade and use the real life confrontation they had on S3. That would be an awesome drama. Is it too much to ask? Cheers everyone, ;)
p.s. I am mourning Aramis/Anne, I've gone through the denial stage and I am now in anger! But happy for Athos/Milady, about time!

  184. Definitely one of the best episodes of the series. So much happened in an hour! Starting with Rochefort;s plan -- Milady is right, it is well advanced and they must find a way to stop him or all of France is in peril. But the character development in this episode -- not to mention the superb acting -- was what made this such a wonderful episode to watch. I really felt Constance's fear. She sold that completely. Lemay's confusion rang through as did then Queen's. I thought they all did such exceptional jobs conveying such complex emotions with so little dialogue.

I'm glad Treville was included in the scene where Aramis tells them all about him and the Queen and the Dauphin. I almost lost it at Porthos' reaction. Initial anger, then realizing Aramis was only being Aramis and the truth of the matter and turning it into a hug. Perfectly done by Howard Cahrles. So powerful. Didn't much care for d'Artagnan's reaction. Who is he to judge?

I don't really want Milady to be redeemed, but she was very effective in helping them. Her 'take charge' attitude at the palace was just what was needed to handle things and keep everyone on task to save the Queen. She and Athos have such chemistry. It would be a shame to have her suddenly be redeemed and ruin that. Marguerite has gotten herself into a situation she has no hope of getting herself out of. She's too weak to stand up to Rochefort. She attempted to make Aramis run, but that just showed she didn't know him at all. As he told Anne, he's never run from danger in his life. I loved Anne asking him to run, save himself for her sake and their son's sake. But Aramis is too honorable a Musketeer to do that. I think she knew that, but was afraid for him. There is no one she would trust with their lives more than him. It was such an understated scene, but so powerful. Passion doesn't have to be touching and kissing. It can be conveyed with a look. Anne telling him she would never regret what they did was beautiful.

So now everyone is in peril. Constance is being held in the bastille, Aramis is in chains, Porthos is on a dangerous quest to apprehend Vargas with a forged message from Rochefort, the Queen is being held against her will, The King has been poisoned and still trusts the one person he shouldn't, and Milady and Athos and Treville must find a way to save them. Who is then priority? Who is the one in the most danger? Certainly the King and Queen are the priorities, but Richefort wants Aramis dead and has him right where he wants him. He could execute him at any moment 'on the orders of the King' tho I assume Louis knows nothing of what is happening and rochefort is using his power to his own end. Constance will never betray the Queen. She is more valuable to him alive, but Rochefort is crazy, so who knows?

this was a wonderfully crafted episode that brings every storyline to a head. I can almost forgive the tedium of the first three episodes now. :)

  185. I've watched a few times now, and I have to agree with you about Marguerite. I did actually have some sympathy for her, but no longer. Poor Dr. Lemay. Falsely accusing both he and Constance was the last thread of any sympathy I felt for Marguerite, and then to lead the rest of the group into what amounts to an ambush. Ugh. No. Girl needs to come clean on all her lies and then disappear.

  186. Yes, I understand that some times you are in a situation in which you have no way out, but there must be a line somewhere, and in the end I think that she was doing it for her own interests as well. She must go!

  187. I predict that Marguerite will be the one who testifies against the Queen and Aramis during Aramis's trial. She will accuse him that the Dauphin is his son (even tho this is true, to her this is not true as she knows her claiming this is just a part of Rochefort plan) and once Rochefort decides to execute him she will let him escape. At this moment Aramis will go to the Queen's chamber where he will find Rochefort with the Queen. I'm going to assume Aramis does save her from him and they might be left alone during this time. They will probably argue here and we might get a scene where either Aramis or the Queen (or both?) will profess their love for one another.

How it all gets resolved I do not know but the other thing what that will happen is that D'art and Athos will save Constance from execution and Rochefort will kill Marguerite for letting Aramis escape imprisonment.

This will definitely be a big scare for Aramis and he will most likely end up going into the Church after everything is resolved or if the Spanish war begins, he'll stay as a musketeer (although I highly doubt it). As for the Queen I do think she will become Regent by the end of the episode. Louis is still sick from the poising and I'm predicting he will die the same way the real King louis did which was from intestinal tuberculosis (just a prediction. How I do not know) or Rochefort will kill him instead.

With this being said, even if Anne does become Regent, I will miss Louis tho. In this episode I really adored him! But his character is pretty much useless. As for Aramis, what he put the Queen thru he will never forgive himself for it and regardless if she becomes Regent or not Aramis will leave unless he really has to stay (Spanish war). If this happens I'm sure in season 3 Aramis will come back for sure and him and the Queen will probably reconcile. I would like to see a huge time jump from season 2 to 3. That way the dauphin should be much older and getting ready to become King. This will also give us Annamis fans a lot feels for both of them. Imagine after 5-10 years has passed and Aramis decides to come back as a musketeer and see's Anne again...I'm getting excited just thinking about it. They will probably reconcline and she will take him as her lover once more. Plus lots of drama...their son could find out he is his father and so on. I do wish this could happen, it probably won't tho.

One last thing, I wonder why the baby hasn't been named yet ? I feel like the writers purposefully did this so that if the king dies they can name the baby after him (King Louis XIV).

  188. Great review! I agree about D'Artagnan, of all the boys he is the one who can not judge Aramis on this matter. He did the exact same thing, he had an affair with a married woman while living under her husband's roof , he would go around hugging and kissing for the world to see it. He was just lucky she was not the Queen and that her husband died. Very disappointing!

  189. I completely agree with you about the scene between Aramis and the Queen love and passion do not always have to be touching and kissing and with everything that was going on and the danger they were in that understated scene was perfect!
I don't know who to fear for more Constance, Aramis or the Queen they are all in grave danger!

  190. Sorry can not agree with you on Marguerite, I just can not accept naivety and weakness as a justification to send an innocent person to die. Yes she was manipulated but she is no longer inocent. But I respect your opinion! For the rest, great review! And Milady/Athos, lovely, I am raving! That plotline is closed now let's see what happens next. I have a feelling that she would not go back to him, in order to protect herself, kind of I tried the love thing did not word, I am better on my own. So I think she will indeed leave.
