This season has been SO GOOD! I have actually cried this season. Geena Davis gave this show new life. Sad to see the storyline end but glad to see they didnt give it a predictable ending. We knew they were going to get rid of her somehow eventually to make room for Arizona to take over and Alex to stay on as head of peds but i do hope she still shows up from time to time in some capacity. Amelia and Stephanie became so believable and so likable this episode. Stephanie has actually been growing on me since she teamed up with Amelia. They did a good job of tying everyone in even if it was only for a couple of lines. Hopefully they keep up the good work. I do have to say the whole Amelia and Owen thing is not believable and i need it to stop now. Very awkward to watch #TEAMCROWEN!
Okay, that was a nice way of Herman out of the show. I knew Geena Davis wasn't going to be sticking around for long, but at least they didn't kill Herman.
Wayyyyyyy to "centric" for me. I woulda enjoyed it with more plot. They did manage to get every character (but Derek) in but no one had any story! I found it boring. But I'm glad Herman didn't die.... She can still teach in some form.....but likely not enough for her to be happy. Nice to see April.
It was good but I need more Karev. After binge-watching the last 10 and a half seasons and loving Karev, I can't handle waiting a week for so little of him. I loved the Alex/Meredith bonding scenes earlier in the season too, I need more of that!.
Happy Ending for everyone, yay. Loved that Amelia posing at the end. ;D But that means in Shondaland, something horrible will happen soon. xD I think it's genius, that they didn't kill off Herman.
I agree he should move on but my point was that Owen and Amelia are so unbelievable that it makes me miss his relationship and chemistry with Cristina. If they want us to be for Owen moving on or care about him moving on they have to make it more effortless. Honestly I think they're just trying to figure out what to do with Owen. He hasnt had a real storyline in a long time.
Amelia is the worst character to ever join this show. That's saying a lot. I've actually warmed up to Maggie because she's not being shoved down our throats as much, but Amelia is just insufferable and the actress is so over-wrought it's crazy. I started to really love Herman as her story went on, but having Amelia do her surgery and spouting out those ridiculous monologues and dialogue that sounded like 5-year-olds wrote it was just too much ("We're superheroes! We're legendary!"). It really ruined a lot of the story for me, which is a shame because Davis and Capshaw were doing GREAT work.
The surgery was underwhelming, all she needed was a pep-talk and she did an 18-hour surgery like it was baking a freakin cake... I just don't get why Amelia needs to be here. We have 13 other regulars who this story could have served better. Why the hell are we not seeing Meredith get actual storylines? Or Alex? This is several episodes in a row of us getting Amelia shoved in our face. They introduced Ben's brother's transgender storyline and then just dropped it, we have no mention of Derek visiting his freaking infant children, no Maggie / Richard interaction... instead we get a storyline with Amelia and Stephanie (the most useless character ever). The second half of this season has been an absolute mess for me, no balance of characters, no real interesting stories... it's starting to feel like a parody of itself.
I think they are believable and the fandom wanted this to happen but I do agree with the storyline part , I think they are just confused because Owen as a character always depended on Christina and now she's gone and they don't know what to do with him
I so thought they were going to go the Callie and Owen route especially because they both want a lot of the same things. I think it's also weird that we never got the full story on what happened between Amelia and James. But i guess we'll see how it plays out.
Wow, couldn't disagree with you more. I think this season has been stellar, the best since season 8. I love Amelia, and loved her presentations last week, too. The Herman storyline was so gripping, it's been a long time I was hooked this much to a storyline in a show. And Stephanie may have been useless, but she certainly grew on me in the last couple of weeks.
I agree that the surgery was a bit underwhelming, but I wouldn't say it was a piece of cake. But yeah, I was expecting a bit more tension, too. We still have ten more episodes, and now that Herman's storyline is done, there's time for others like the Maggie-Richard relationship. I don't see why they would continue the transgender storyline, it seemed pretty much closed to me, unless Curtis/Rosalind decides to undergo a gender transformation surgery in the hospital.
I really enjoyed the start of the season and feel like the middle has just been a jumble of mixed stories. Rather than things flowing there's two april episodes, then two Amelia episodes, and so on.. it's all over the place.
Jackson was consulting with Curtis/Rosalind at the end of the episode, so it was set up to look like it'd continue (I thought, anyway.) Plus there was no real closure at all for Ben, they made a big fuss of Bailey trying to get him to come around to it and then it just disappeared. That's the major trouble for me with so many characters, the show has no focus. It's just a bunch of doctors doing surgeries and dating... there used to be a core group of doctors, now with all these regulars we have people disappearing for weeks, core characters like Meredith and Alex being reduced to 3 lines a week while Amelia takes center stage.
I know not everyone agrees, of course. That's the nature of having a cast this big, it will work for some and not for others. But I love so many characters on this show so much and it has so much potential, I wish we could get back to the stuff that's great about the series. What's the last major story Alex got? His dad showing up for a few episodes last season? He's one of the most interesting characters they have and they always sideline him.
That would have been even weirder IMO because Callie and Owen have great chemistry but I can't think of them as a couple. I haven't watched PP (I'm midway through S4) so idk how I feel about Amelia
Just very happy Herman wasn't killed off.I'm hoping Shonda is smart enough to keep her around even if only to show how someone deals with losing their sight.
Well, I didn't think they would go with the Owen/Callie pairing because of the "What if" episode Christina-centric, where they were a couple and miserable. That said, no. Owen/Amelia is too much forced. Their scenes lack any chemistry. I want Owen to move on, but even with Herman he had better chemistry than that awkward kiss with Amelia. I mean, I LOVE Amelia, but not with him. It was too much predictable and is not working. What I realized, though, is that we are in a significant lack of guys. We have Alex, Richard, Avery, Ben, all not single, and Owen. Then we have Miranda, Meredith, Jo and April (not single) Callie, Herman, Amelia, Stephanie, Arizona, Mer's sister, all very much single. It's just... not closing the bill. We need a new male doctor, and I'm not referring to McDreamy, cause, as much as I love Patrick Dempsey, I'm loving this show without him. Sorry, but it's true. Meredith is much better semi-single. We need a single doc, or a single nurse, I'm even taking a single patient interesting at this point. We just need someone to fill the void in our single female docs' hearts, or beds. I wouldn't mind an Alex 2.0. Just saying.
At first I thought that it could work, that Owen and Amelia could be together. But the lack of chemistry between them is so obvious and all the awkawrd scenes.. I think Owen should go out and have some fun. And more whats more important - give him a storyline already!
gosh I love this show, but where the hell is Alex? I feel like he deserves more scenes, more credit. Also - Owen ! They both need something to happen in their lives . And please, more Meredith! Maybe something happen with little Bailey and then Derek would came back. I miss merder.
With all the build-up to the surgery, it was really underwhelming. Herman wasn't even anywhere almost dying. Some of the weekly cases were more thrilling than this. As enjoyable as Herman is to watch, I hope she gets written off soon. It's frustrating to see Alex still being incredibly underused as a character.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm glad Nicole is still alive but sad that she's blind now. Really hope Geena stcks around after this.

ReplyDeleteWhen Amelia mentioned Derek i really thought he would step in at some point.
When is he coming back btw ?
How much I wanted to stuff a gag down Bailey's throat could not be described.

Get over Crowen already ! Christina -Burke>>>>>>>>> Crowen
ReplyDeleteI would like more Karev but only if Izzie came back . I mean I can't stand him when he is talking about Jo
ReplyDeleteI know Geena wont become a regular, but I hope she comes back now and again.
ReplyDeleteNo one said anything abt Burke. My post my opinion thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell anyway Christina has left the show and it's time Owen moved on
