  1. Great episode. The end scene between Jimmy and Chuck was so gut-wrenching to watch. I doubt their relationship will ever be the same again after this.

  2. I had a feeling that the main reason why Chuck never supported/appreciated Jimmy was because of how he got his law degree but damn that betrayal still hurt a lot. Especially realizing how much Jimmy always looked up to his older brother and always yearning for his approval in everything he did. This is only going to make Jimmy go further and further into the transformation of Saul Goodman and it's really just sad to watch. Also, Mike's plot with him doing the job was so great (and Nacho appeared again!). I honestly wouldn't mind another spin off of a show focusing solely on Mike. Can't freaking wait for next week's finale but I'm going to feel so empty on Monday nights when the season is over.

  5. A few weeks ago I was thinking Jonathan Banks deserved every award out there. But damn, Bob Odenkirk deserves at least half of them too! That scene between Jimmy and Chuck was gut-wrenchingly brutal, but so brilliantly acted by those two. You could feel it coming but it didn't lessen the blow.

I'll admit when I first heard of the show I figured I'd watch since I enjoyed Breaking Bad so much and I enjoyed Saul/Bob Odenkirk, but I never in my wildest imaginations believed it could reach the same tier as Breaking Bad. This show is just so damn good!

  6. "You're not a real lawyer!"

And my heart broke into a million pieces. Even though Chuck's betrayal seemed inevitable it doesn't make it any less painful.

I like what Mike said about being good and being a criminal, that is the centre of both this show and Breaking Bad. It is all about whether people can change or not, whether they can do bad things and still be good.

  7. What a phenomenal episode. And what a devastating emotional gut punch towards the end of the episode. That scene put into light so many scenes that came before it. It shed light on Howard's refusal, it shed light on what Howard told Kim behind the closed door and it shed light on why Kim came to Chuck and with teary eyes asked him to take the deal but couldn't break Jimmy's heart by saying the exact reason why Howard turned down Jimmy.

I was very foolishly thinking that Chuck and Jimmy would continue to work together in some capacity but how wrong I was. The betrayal of a brother hurts and it cuts deep. Totally understandable are Jimmy's actions at the end as he drives away from Chuck's house.

Mike's story line was also quite good and it was nice to see Nacho again.

Better Call Saul has fast become one of my favorite shows and a must watch. I have even started recommending the show to my friends.

  8. Mike continues to be the absolute highlight of the show, hands down!

Kinda grew to appreciate Howard a bit, now that I know he was willing to be the bad guy in Jimmy's eyes, just to help Chuck save face...

It was sad to see the brothers' relationship come to a head like that.
Chuck not willing to see that Jimmy is a good lawyer... that he is is trying... that he can do it if you show him some faith... as I said: sad.
Excellent performances by both Bob Odenkirk and Michael McKean, BTW.

  9. I think they both have better episodes to show for, but it is a contender for sure.

  10. "Slippin' Jimmy with a law degree is like a chimp with a machine gun." WOW ... only the brilliant writing of Vince Gilligan and his crew can manage to make a show so laugh-out-loud funny, absolutely devastating, and darkly prophetic all at the same time. On Breaking Bad, Saul was mainly comic relief and I figured this show would be nothing more than a pleasant if well-written amusement. But thanks to Odenkirk, McKean, Gilligan and their amazing consistency, the character of Jimmy/Saul is becoming fully, tragically realized -- all the more so because we already know where he goes from here. And even still, thanks to the vulnerability Odenkirk brings to the role, I can't stop myself from willing Jimmy to trust his own goodness. Amazing stuff ... hope the Emmys just roll in.

  11. Mike is the best. He's the quintessential wiseguy. Never lets on what exactly he knows, never overreacts, always has a plan and executes it perfectly.
