I haven't watched Dixie's post season premiere yet, I have been saving it for a marathon but I will miss the show once it is gone. It is quite a different show and I like what it does. I still think the CW has no business actually cancelling it but what do I know!
It is unofficial, but Leila said they're not coming back. Most of the cast have bid the show goodbye... they've been writing like a final season. i highly doubt there will be a last minute renewal. And Frankly at this point I don't think I'd want one. I've made my peace with it being the end and I'm ready to let go.
I know Scott and Jaime posted farewells but they both deleted it. Mallory just tweeted they are not sure it is the series finale. It's probably gonna be cancelled but I don't think you can call it "series finale" until the nework confirms this officially.
And seasons 4, 6 and 8 of One Tree Hill had been written like series finales, I don't think it is a clue. Pedowitz said it was not necessarily the end after seeing season 4 finale.
Leila, the show runner, has admitted it is more or less done.
I'm treating as a series finale because everyone involved has been treating it a series finale.
And frankly bringing OTH as an example doesn't really work. Not because I think that show is horrible and doesn't deserve to be compared in any way shape or form with the charming little fun show HoD is, but because the standards for the network were much different then.
Since when "more or less done" means official? Even the network calls it a season finale. I know the show will be 99% cancelled for sure but I don't understand how medias can call it "series finale" why the network doesn't.
Because if the showrunner says it's over then that most likely means everyone has been told they can go ahead and look for new jobs and sets have been striken. It's weird for the network to not own up to this (especially since it is the CW and MP we're talking about), but I think avoiding to admit an official cancellation is really a formality at this point is a bit naive.
Grimm - but for the first time, I will be watching the show with the least bit of enthusiasm. As if Adalind being pregnant with Nick's baby was not off putting by itself, the latest Claire Coffee interview at TV Line has left me feeling lukewarm towards the show's future direction. Not only are the writers piling it on Juliette with all this stuff, there's a strong possibility that she will be made the bad guy.
As I said my personal feelings about OTH didn't play into saying it's not a good example for this situation. It was a different regime when OTH was on and that's what makes the two case not particularly comparable.
Despite CW is different now, it is all about ratings and both HoD and OTH lived in a "bubble" situation, not too strong but not too week. Right now, based on demo, HoD deserves the renewal...
I won't disagree that HoD deserved the renewal with the ratings it was pulling, but it's not getting it. Right now the CW looks very much into international sales, and truth HoD doesn't do great in that department (I'll even concede OTH actually sold well overseas). Also there's the issue that in tone the show doesn't particularly fit the network's current brand. So it also has that working against it. As I said... it's a very different regime right now...
There's nothing wrong with admitting the show is not coming back... especially when the people who run and work on the show have, and have prepared the audience for this situation, in going as far as informing people the show is over, even if the network hasn't come forward to admit it is.
They haven't been told according to Kaitlyn Black, that's why I say there is nothing official. I'm not naive, I know there is 1 chance/1 million the show is renewed and I accepted it.
Saying there is nothing official doesn't make me naive, it's just the truth.
Well someone said something to Leila that made her confident enough to publicly claim the show is over, and frankly she is a better source of information in this department.
My argument here is: in this particular case making an official cancellation announcement is a formality of minor importance. Sitting and nitpicking why people are calling the finale a "series" finale, at this point seems counter productive...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Grimm, oh how I wish it was followed by Constantine, I know I need to get over it:)

Grimm and HOD. I thought I was ready for the series finale, but I'm not! I'm not ready to say goodbye to Bluebell!
ReplyDeleteGrimm
ReplyDeleteThat would be exciting to watch her be the villain IMO
ReplyDeleteGrimm
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I'm saying. It shouldn't have been called series finale.
ReplyDeleteWe're so not saying the same thing... but whatever...
