Person of Interest - Potentially Renewed for a Fifth Season?
6 Mar 2015
Person of Interest Renewals and CancellationsThis we have received from a fan who is visiting the set today who was informed by a crew member that the show has been renewed for a fifth season. CBS have not yet confirmed anything. We'll be emailing CBS to ask for a comment.

It's about that time so sitting here waiting impatiently for CBS' bulk renewal announcement.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, but desperate for CBS to make this official now.
ReplyDeleteThis should be no question.
ReplyDeleteThe waiting part is the worst.
ReplyDelete*Commence crazy dancing and flailing all across the room like a maniac*
ReplyDeletehope this isn't a hoax.
I wouldn't see why there would not be a fifth season. POI isn't doing too bad ratings wise and while certainly not treated with the respect it deserves it's a critical darling.
ReplyDeleteNo odds except it being a WB show on CBS speak against a renewal
Don't review happen in May?
ReplyDeleteHope it's going to be true and confirmed soon! (Fingers crossed)
ReplyDeleteIt would be odd for CBS to renew WB show before all the others at this stage. Hoping the annual CBS massive renewals happen soon!
ReplyDeleteJust a careful question: If CBS doesn't want this revealed, or if the fan misunderstood, won't SpoilerTV anger CBS by publishing this without a statement or go-ahead or explanation? Don't networks have publishing embargos and a team of PR folks ready with comments before renewals get officially announced? I can't see CBS confirming this news now. More likely I can see them denying it like The CW did, then announce it officially later when they feel ready to do so. Just hoping STV doesn't make CBS mad...
ReplyDeletecbs usually does a big early renewal announcement in march that leaves out the few series they have that are on the bubble. and then they wait until May to renew/cancel those
ReplyDeleteIf the crew's working with the knowledge of renewal, it'll be announced within the next couple of weeks, and will therefore be for 22 episodes.
ReplyDeleteHallelujah, there is a Machine!
If this is true, then it likely means we get the CBS renewals soon. That would be awesome! Anyway, I'm happy for PoI is I support the show and it's on my watchlist.
ReplyDeleteLast year CBS did a bulk renewal way before May. It could happen this year too.
ReplyDeleteBased on last year CBS renew for most of their show was march 13, 2014 so likely sometime last week probably Friday
ReplyDeleteWhy would CBS be mad at us?
ReplyDeleteWe're just reporting the news like a news reader on the TV.
We didn't leak this. The Crew Member who told the member of the public did.
Well, that's a good point. Hopefully CBS sees it the same way. They'll either do damage control and deny everything or just let renew it officially. Time will tell, but I hope we get answers quickly! :)
ReplyDeleteI would actually prefer 13-15 episodes, would be very interested to see what the writers would do with a shorter season.
ReplyDeleteWas there ever any doubt that Person of Interest would be renewed for a fifth season? It pulls solid in the ratings, and is pretty much the only CBS show that seems to accumulate buzz beyond "haha Gibbs slapped McGee!"
ReplyDeleteNetworks like it when their shows are discussed. Person of Interest is perfect watercooler drama for both the workplace, and Twitter.
CBS bulk renewals should be coming soon.
ReplyDeleteMost obvious ones; NCIS, NCIS: LA, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, Mike & Molly, Criminal Minds. Maybe even The Odd Couple.
They would be equally made at Facebook if that was the case for allowing someone to post the new there :)
ReplyDeletetotally agree with your list. I wonder if maybe they'll wait to see how the Odd Couple does without a new TBBT lead in before they announce anything.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll renew it regardless. It airs 10 episodes with a new TBBT, so the season average should be enough for renewal.
ReplyDeleteAnd Elementary. I also reckon there will be at least one of Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0 and The Good Wife. TGW would be most likely.
ReplyDeleteYep, forgot Elementary.
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious. Last week, it beat NCIS LA in the demo, retained 90% of NCIS NO's audience and was flat from last year. Its ratings have been very consistent since the end of October aside from those three ratings below 1.5, which can be easily explained. PoI is CBS's #2 10 PM drama and is pretty close to NCIS LA for the #1 10 PM drama title this season.
ReplyDeleteThe only people that were unconvinced were unbelievers. I fully expect PoI to come back with a 22 episode order for next season.
Fair enough. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch awesome news in general but also that Sarah had her twins last week so at least there's a Season 5 for Shaw to come back to, God willing.
ReplyDeleteFifth and final season, please.
ReplyDeleteSamaritan HAS to be part of the endgame. Personally, I thought it would come to a stop and return more powerful than ever but if that's not happening, then Samaritan should at least play part of POI's endgame. Possibly the end of both machines by series end.
Oh come on we know it's going to be renewed!!!
ReplyDeleteI mean they could do it like those dumbf*cks at the CW when
ReplyDeletethe season 4 renewal of BatB leaked. They acted one day like this was the craziest thing in the world and everyone should be sent to the asylum who even thinks that Batb could be renewed.
Then the next day *drumroll* Press relase: BatB is getting a fourth season.
If CBS wants to make a complete joke out of themselves like the CW they could deny it but it would be better to say nothing just yet and then go public with it when the time is right.
Yes the cancellation bear should call the head of CBS who will obviously say that this renewal is absolute nonsense and people are completely crazy to think it would be renewed. And the cancellation bear would post the official press release from CBS about POI renewal.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if season 5 will be the last. I would love it to last 6 seasons, but we'll see. Samaritan has to be the endgame.
ReplyDelete...Saying that SpoilerTV was just lucky, once again.
ReplyDeleteI personally have always felt if this was a show with mapped out ending that Season 5 would be the perfect place to end it kind of similar to breaking bad. I would just like the writers to end it on they're terms before CBS ever got the chance to do it. I know Season 6 has been hinted many times as the projected final season ( which wouldn't be bad ) but i think 5 could work as well. Shows with heavily serialized aspects like this aren't always meant to go 12 to 14 seasons. some of the best shows usually are between that 4-8 seasons.
ReplyDeleteI hope CBS make official soon.
ReplyDeleteThe show isn't in any danger, but please, be true
ReplyDeleteWell it is to nobody's surprise they are renewed.
ReplyDeleteAnd then TVBTN shuts it down as "nonsense". I can already see it now.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, how does the person know that the crewmember wasn't saying what they wanted to hear? The crewmember could easily have been misinformed by the higher ups. It wouldn't be the first time. I would rather wait for the CBS decision and since POI has been up and down in the ratings, I'm not surprised that they are taking a bit of time in their decision.
ReplyDeleteThey had twins last Sunday on March 1. http://celebritybabies.people.com/2015/03/06/sarah-shahi-steve-howey-welcome-twins-violet-moon-knox-blue/
ReplyDeleteNot really buying this as official but I suppose it could very well be indicating that the bulk renewal is coming.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely looking forward to hearing the renewal news for this network soon :). Like you said, shows like "Criminal Minds" seem pretty obvious to return, but I'll still cheer anyway when I hear the official news.
ReplyDeleteWhatever Nolan and Plageman need for POI to be what they envisioned, I need CBS to give it to them.
ReplyDeleteThis is news? Can't believe people we're actually concerned about this. Pretty much guaranteed to have a 6th season too. Why? Because I said so
ReplyDeleteYou don't want to have a shorter quantity of episodes in Person of Interest, you'd want more! :O
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I want to see. Most procedurals go and on without any solid ending. I want POI to end like Breaking Bad...end where it is supposed to end.
ReplyDeleteAn official statement would have been annouced a bit pre-fan visits ?
ReplyDeleteThank God. One of the best shows on TV. Please CBS don't go the garbage show Empire route. Basically an overrated soap opera.
ReplyDeletethis is my favorite show and I would be more than slightly devastated if it should disappear. Please don't take it away.
