Fox is betting that audiences will not get a load of Deadpool when the movie opens this weekend but will immediately want more, which is why the studio is already working on a sequel.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Deadpool, are writing the script for a follow-up, which has already been greenlit, insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The fact that a sequel is in the works should not be a surprise at this point. Deadpool is tracking to open to at least $65 million over the upcoming four-day holiday weekend, with some estimates pointing north of $70 million.
Tim Miller directed Deadpool and although is he has not signed on to helm the sequel, Fox is intent on keeping the creative team together.

Homeland star Morena Baccarin has nabbed the female lead in Deadpool, Fox's action movie based on the Marvel character.

T.J. Miller and Gina Carano are already attached to the project, which is eyeing a March shoot, and is slated for an early 2016 release.

17th Feb 2015 - Casting Call Reveals Supporting Cast
[RIDGE] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous, violent, vain, insecure and more than a bit of a dick…. but with a sense of humor. He is not a psychopath, he’s practical but morally neutral—he doesn’t enjoy torturing people, he just doesn’t care. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.
[LINDSAY] Any ethnicity, 20s, attractive and worldly. Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been easy for her and she’s developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she’s not a victim—she may not have a great life but she’s holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She’s got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards irony and sarcasm. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.
[SIMON] Any ethnicity, late 20s to early 40s. Quirky, great sense of humor. Smart, funny, but more than a little bit slippery. Fast talker, always looking to make a buck. He looks out for himself first and foremost, but reveals loyalty at the end of the day. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.
[SHIRLIE] African American, late 60s to early 80s. Worldly, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, dry, funny. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.
[KATHY] Any ethnicity, early to mid teens. World weary, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, droll sense of humor. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.
[KEREN] Any ethnicity, early 20s to late 30s. Serious, big, tough. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS
[ALBERT] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS

LOL
ReplyDeleteYou laughing at the pose? Cause I am too. XD
ReplyDeleteRidiculous
ReplyDeleteTHOSE LEGS! o.O Why soooooooooo slim!???
ReplyDeleteHe looks pretty female if someone asks me.
This bodes well for the character's on screen personality.
ReplyDeleteThat's so deadpool xD
ReplyDeleteyeah it's hilarious ha!
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean? he's not dark?
ReplyDeleteYou will get lots of twisted humor with Deadpool. This poster is just a tiny example.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly I've only read a little with Deadpool, but the photo captures the characters irreverence.
ReplyDeleteThe Deadpool game captured his personality well if your curious what he's like:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaiSzQQkJP0
how can he talk? isn't his mouth shut? he's hilarious and insane!
ReplyDeleteGod this looks sweet.
ReplyDeletePure Deadpool.
ReplyDeleteTo put his insanity and humour into some perspective. He once killed a guy for liking the prequels more than the original trilogy.
ReplyDeleteMouth...shut? It's anything but. He never shuts up. He's called The Merc with a Mouth..
ReplyDeleteyou're kidding right? that can't possibly be true
ReplyDeletebut what about that continuity error, plot hole-d movie where his mouth is zipped shut?
ReplyDeletedefinitely not it seems LOL
ReplyDelete*waves hand* What movie, there has been no other movie featuring Deadpool?
ReplyDeleteif you say so
ReplyDeleteX-Men Origins": Wolverine
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it :)
ReplyDelete(guess you didn't fall for the mind trick)
so people don't "Affleck" him, people DO like him, cool
ReplyDeletehuh, what mind trick
ReplyDeleteDoes this sound familiar?
ReplyDelete*waves hand* These are not the droids you're looking for
ah, well sorry, Jedi Master here LOL
ReplyDeleteOkay, jokes aside, The thing that they called "Deadpool" in that mess of a movie (who has been erased from continuity thanks to Days of Future Past) had nothing to do with the original character. This time they're getting it right it seems.
ReplyDeleteah okay
ReplyDeleteTHANK. FUCK.
ReplyDeleteBest news I've heard all day.
Nope. He did it. That's Deadpool.
ReplyDeleteokay kind of like him now LOL is that weird? ha!
ReplyDeletethe way he was shown in X-Men Origins was not the way the character usually appears. he did however have his mouth sewn open in the final scene of that movie (wich is going to be ignored by this one)
ReplyDeletenot everyone does but I'm completely on board with Reynolds, he's an outstanding actor especially for roles like Deadpool (plus he pushed for this movie to get made since 2008)
ReplyDelete"Can Wolverine get you this hot? Well he sure gets me in the mood"
ReplyDeletewell, Deadpool was never over-ripped so that`s fitting
ReplyDeletenot really, the WeaponX project was whiped from history the way it went down, doesen't mean that Ryan isn't technically playing the same character (wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey)
ReplyDeleteAs long as they cut the arm-blades and other powers (except the healing factor) the set up would've been perfect
I know. It isn't really a matter of being ripped or not for me, they just doesn't seem fitting. Like those are woman legs, nothing against it just strange they choose this pic aa the first promo pic.
ReplyDeleteNERDGASM!!!!! SO SICK!!!
ReplyDeletewell....it's a pardoy of all dem sexy model pics and it's fitting for Deadpool to break the fourth wall
ReplyDeleteSo....this isn't snow raining on me? Damnit, stop nerdgasming dat sh*t feels weird on my body
ReplyDelete(we're talking about Deadpool here, I feel permitted to make sick jokes now) :P
Deadpool is the seriousest serious Marvelrious character ever-ious.

You like it. ; )
ReplyDeleteFourth wall? I'm not familliar with that saying/form of speech.
ReplyDeleteVery comic accurate. He's gonna be badass in his movie!
ReplyDeleteHe's having way to much fun...
ReplyDeleteIt's when a character looks into the camera (or in comic, form out of the page) and talks directly to the audience, thus, breaking the imaginary fourth wall between the real and the imaginary.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a deadpool fan (never read the comics or played the game), but this pulled me in. XD
ReplyDeletehaha!
ReplyDeleteHoping Ryan does the Deadpool Comic Con panel completely in character.
ReplyDeleteThat should answer your question ! https://twitter.com/vancityreynolds/status/618796218106388480
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to this movie! Ryan seems perfect for it.
ReplyDeleteGoogled Ajax, and he's this huge guy. So I assume it's the guy in the hood? Who is the girl in X-Men colors?
ReplyDeleteCan't really tell, but it doesn't look like the 80s. My fingers are crossed for present day!
That's Negasonic Teenage Warhead :)
ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S a code name! Had to Google her as well, named after a song apparently.
ReplyDeleteVery excited about this crazy movie!
Ummm, we saw the trailer yesterday? LQ but still. Hell i watched it 4 times. LOL
ReplyDeleteLol, Me too!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't tell because of the lq, but are his black eyeholes cgi or FX make-up?
