I first reported this to you guys back in November, and now I can tell you it's come to pass: Joe and Anthony Russo will follow up Captain America: Civil War by graduating to Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2. The movies should shoot back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.
There are no writers on it yet, but I'm told that Marvel is in talks with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the guys who wrote the three Captain America movies as well as did work on Thor: The Dark World and helped create Agent Carter. Basically it's about keeping the band together moving forward, with the Russos and Markus and McFeely all being really on the same page and working together well. I imagine that this will become official shortly.

YES! Dreams do come true. After Joss these two were who I wanted the most for these films. Winter soldier was amazing.
ReplyDeleteDefintely is when Marvel announce it ;) Though I like what they did on TWS so they would be good replacements for Joss.
ReplyDeleteyeah if it couldn't be Joss, the Russos are definitely it
ReplyDeleteIf all the action scenes in those movies can be like this:

You're going to get absolutely NO complaints from me.
That, and every other action scene in that movie.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Winter Solider was amazing so really happy with this.
ReplyDeleteTrue. But the highway fight between Cap and TWS is my favorite action scene in the movie. It is the perfect hand-to-hand fight in terms of choreography, stunts, editing, sound effects (TWS' metal hand hitting the shield - damn!) and pretty much everything.
ReplyDeleteI liked the suggestion of Joss writing and the Russos directing, although I guess that won't come to pass. That might've been the best of both worlds, combining the former's wit and great characterization with the latter's knack for high-octane suspense and action.
ReplyDeleteYes, mine too. But I'm also a huge lover of the Fury car sequence and Cap(/Falcon) vs TWS towards the end of the movie.
ReplyDeleteThat would be excellent. I wonder if Joss might still oversee the movies even if he isn't directly involved.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic news. Back to back?? I would love that. I'd love it even more if they started writing!
ReplyDeletePrefect choice since The Winter Soldier has been the best Marvel movie so far.
ReplyDeleteNot that much of a surprise, but I'm super cool about this. They did miracles with TWS!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's a good team for sure. Though I do hope Joss does stay on a consulting capasity... there is some comfort in knowing he might at least do one pass on the script... Not that I don't trust the Russo's... but it's Joss...
That would have been ideal! In my perfect world Joss should at least do an edit pass on the final draft...
