I'am so looking forward to all the Coulson and Skye father/daughter moments next week. And why the heck does it look like Sif wants Skye? Is it a part of her mission? I need it to be next Tuesday already! God, I'm totally on a SHIELD high right now after tonight's premiere.
Actually the funny thing is I'm suspicious it's not Skye she wants! After all the press release did say she loses her memories and has no idea who she is hunting. What if it's just a mistake and she happens to go off while Sif is there making it seem like she is Sifs target!
Interesting... I thought they'd keep the secret from the team longer...
I'm thinking, Sif may have found out about the Inhumans (remember Coulson had asked about the Kree before and she didn't know back then) and she's come to warn him. And forgets... and then she sees Skye's powers... and then they get in this mess...
It's disappointing that a series called AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. has only focused on Phil Coulson in one season and Skye in the other.
I've always felt like the recent series called Flashpoint is the perfect template when it comes to a series about S.H.I.E.L.D. It dealt with each character on the team equally, but it also focused on the certain situation during that one episode.
Canadian dramas have always been good at that, they actually ended the show to go out on a creative high after only season 5. You will see a lot more of our other Agents, but they have to set up the threads from the midseason finale
I'm not too big on Canadian television personally, but I was a huge fan of Flashpoint. To me, that series beats out so many other shows that uses that similar formula of a group, such as law enforcement like in Criminal Minds or NCIS. Flashpoint actually kept me intrigued with the personal lives of each and every character as well as the episode's story. And even during season one, I didn't have that interest in AoS with the people involve. I rarely watch AoS now but when I do, I still don't feel like the series is trying to invest me with the characters besides Coulson for S1 and Skye for S2.
I like the Skye storyline but after this first few episodes they need to move to other characters too. Fitz, Simmons and May has needs to be explored more. Where is Ward?
Well May's husband is coming onto the show soon so I'm pretty sure we'll get some more backstory on her which is always a plus. We'll also see the Bobbi/Mack secret storyline also develop. As for the other characters like Fitz and Simmons, we might not see their storyline for the rest of the season until season 3 unfortunately. I read somewhere that Ward is going to be MIA for a little bit but we'll continue to see his journey this season so I'm excited.
I can see what you and others on here are saying but I don't necessarily agree that I think it's dominating the show or taking over all the story lines. Skye being a meta human and it affecting the team so strongly to me is what is drawing the story in more and making it so much more personal for the shows conflict. Plus we still have had a lot of good Fitz/Simmons moments, Fitz overcoming his brain damage and still dealing with it, some of May and Coulsons relationship, seeing Simmons double life undercover etc. Not to mention the upcoming introduction of Mays ex husband and the episode synopsis which show people coming after the whole team not just Coulson or Skye. I understand your thinking though because to be honest I have to admit Coulson is not my favourite character. I much prefer a lot of the others over him. He's a bit to much sometimes for me. And I don't think Chloe is the strongest actor either (although she has improved a lot) so it's nice to see a focus on the other characters and actors.
I think season two has done a much better job over season one of focusing on different characters. Now if every single scene the rest of this season and all of next (crosses fingers it gets renewed of course) was all about Skye/Coulson and no one else then I would totally be with you though. And I would stop watching because that would be boring and annoying.
Yeah, really, I mean they could have so done so much with the other characters, like, I don't know, brain damage one of them and then show how he recovers, or showing how a likable young woman is becoming embittered step by step, or turned one of the seemingly good characters into an enemy...wait a minute....
I'm gonna miss Tripp but the show is getting better and better. I think that Skye's storyline add even more intensity to the show than before. BTW in that promo I'm so afraid that Lady Sif is threating Skye obviously Skye is out of control.
It's disappointing to see we won't see much of Fitz Simmons story line this season. I would prefer that to Bobby/Mac secret mission. But AoS knows how to spread screen time between all of their characters so I am not too worried.
I don't understand why Simmons' undercover-at-Hydra storyline was so short. It had the potential to be great but they ended it almost as soon as it began. I know viewers have zero patience and always complain about storylines being dragged out, but honestly, this one could've used more than (barely) two episodes. Also, it was the first time we got to really see Simmons be autonomous from Fitz (who has had his own storyline all season) and now she's back to being little more than one half of FitzSimmons.
Agreed. They used that thread as a vessel to introduce Bobbi Morse. I don't see much else reasoning for doing it. They could have done more with it. That being said I don't want Simmons being brain washed by Hydra prediction that is going around come true. I don't want another female I like in TV world loose her agency. As of now Simmons is the one who look stuck. She needs a new project to work on.
I can't see a balance in S2 personally. But hey, people obviously like this series. My opinions are from someone that just doesn't see AoS as special as others do.
That is the flip side of being in an interactive fandom. Someone always pieces stuff together. That's why I love The 100 show runners. They keep almost all of their story lines close to their heart its difficult to predict. Now AoS and Arrow cast and producers especially Arrow thrives on spoiling us.
From the way Simmons is done now I think her time with Hydra is forgotten. I hope we at least get a nod to it.
The anti alien stance need to be handled very carefully. They need to show her be vulnerable along side her beliefs. Fans are fickle and predictable. If a character stands against another one who is going through lots of emotional and mental trauma they will be disliked. Right now all the sympathy is with Skye because she is lost and scared. It will be very difficult for regular audience to connect with Simmons' pov when we see Skye struggling at the same time.
I am kind of enjoying the different attitudes everyone has towards this. Because that is the way it happens in real life. Powers will always be looked in fear unless you are The Flash and everyone is super cheerful. I love that show a lot but it is so cheesy comic booky stuff LOL.
I don't see it as "special"...it's still a flawed series. But I think it deserves some credit for getting better and better. The current Skye storyline is not just about Skye, it is about how all the others will react to her just as much.
I think Mac is crossing a line. Technically they needed protection from him when he went all alien commando and no one holds it against him! Skye can't control herself either at this point.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Sif! Oh God, poor Skye. Coulson protecting his daughter. I can't wait for this!
ReplyDeleteWitness an all new "Skye - The Series"
ReplyDeleteThough Sif is one of my favorites from the Thor movies if she even tried to get at Skye I hope coulson takes her down. Skye needs a hug bad though.
ReplyDeleteMo Tancharoen did say after the midseason finale that for a season a half, they've been building up Skye's superhero origin story.
ReplyDeleteAs a huge Skye stan, I am very excited about where this is leading.

ReplyDeletegood theory
ReplyDeleteSif don't you dare to even LOOK at Skye!!!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting... I thought they'd keep the secret from the team longer...

ReplyDeleteI love the Skye/Coulson paternal bonding moments. I'm a sucker for that stuff.
ReplyDeletesame, freak out every time he turns into Papa Bear
ReplyDeleteThat better be a misleading promo, come on Even Sif wants to stop Skye? what's happening to the good women in this series. I mean she has powesr too.

Agents of S.K.Y.E
ReplyDeleteWorks for me! LOL. She's become the best part about the show.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Nice to see Sif again.
ReplyDeleteYeah, really, I mean they could have so done so much with the other characters, like, I don't know, brain damage one of them and then show how he recovers, or showing how a likable young woman is becoming embittered step by step, or turned one of the seemingly good characters into an enemy...wait a minute....

ReplyDeleteSo this time Sif will meet Skye, cool.

ReplyDeletenah i don't think it's brainwashing, i think it's what everyone's been saying: this is the beginning of Civil War
