Madam Secretary kicked off a three-episode arc in last Sunday's episode and the story continues in episode 1.15 "The Ninth Circle". Since I have seen the episode, along with episode 16, I can tell you that you do not want to miss it! A lot of crazy stuff is happening in both episodes and boy, they are so good! I am raving right now and I want to discuss all this crazy stuff that happens, but sadly I will have to wait till you guys see the episodes. To get you all excited, here is an advance preview of "The Ninth Circle".
Last week's raid in Istanbul, which killed the Iranian woman Samila Mahdavi and several others, also has ripple consequences in this episode. The State Department denies any knowledge of the operation. However, Turkey is holding on to the body of Brett Boris, the American special forces operative who was killed in the attack. When they also release a video of the failed raid, Bess decides it's time to pay the Turks a visit.
Besides doing damage control, Bess also wants to see Mahdavi's belongings. It turns out she had a laptop with her which might help in the investigation. However, also interested in the laptop is Iranian Foreign Minister Zahed Javani. If you remember episode 5, Javani and Elizabeth were doing peace talks between Iran and the US, and these talks are still continuing. Elizabeth doesn't want these talks to break down so she has to be careful to approach the situation. Sadly, Javani already had the laptop investigated and the information on it shocks Elizabeth. Things really fall apart from there and it all leads up to this shocking ending. It's all very awesome, but I can't tell you too much about it. The episode once again ends in a cliffhanger. I was so glad I could immediately watch episode 16, but for you the weekly wait is going to be a long one.
Here are a few more teasers from the episode:
-If you want to know what the note from Juliet said, try to decrypt this: "Whatever *******, **** this: I did it for ** *******. This is a ********* *****."
-Daisy finds herself lying to the press about what happened in Turkey. She really has a hard time doing so.
-Isabelle is, understandably, not happy with Elizabeth's actions from last week. However, they work together and later even make jokes.
-There is a side story that involves Jason. Turns out he has a bully at school and stands up to him by punching him in his face. This might have serious consequences for Jason, but there is more to his reasons than you think.
-Remember in episode 5 when Henry was with Jason and stood up against some marine in a café? That incident is referred to various times in this episode.
That's all I can tell for now. Be sure to watch "The Ninth Circle" live on Sunday at 8/7c on CBS. Also be on the lookout for my review after the episode and my advance preview for episode 16 later next week. Here's the promo for episode 15:
