Yes for the House of Black and White Braaaaavoooooooo(s)!
ReplyDeleteI really should read the books... At least this would mean something to me, lol.

ReplyDeleteNote to self: Do NOT hyperventilate....
ReplyDeleteI'm cool...
And SUPER excited!
BTW do you remember what happened in the finale episode. I cant remember at all ,the only thing i remember is that WINTER IS COMING . which is coming from the season 1. Yet to reach lol
ReplyDeleteSoon,soon,soon
ReplyDeleteHmmm, interesting to see what they are planning for Ellaria in the show.
ReplyDeleteFirst season of GoT I'm not really really excited about :(
ReplyDeleteThen I think, at least for the second half of the season, that you'll be pleasantly surprised. :)
ReplyDeletemaybe his point was that he DID read the books and he's afraid of spoilers
ReplyDeletePart of me feels the same way. but the other part may be more excited than normal...
ReplyDeleteI'm conflicted! XD
Being 100% certain the show will pass up the books and end before the final book comes out left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I think it lessened my excitement level for the series as a whole. Add in that so many elements I at one time expected to see on screen will now be cut to streamline the series and there is that disappoint to consider as well.
That said, there may be some positives as well....
- I expected most of those cuts last year (I've been saying for a year or two that I doubt we will get Lady Stoneheart, the Greyjoy Uncles or "Young Griff" etc) so my pain is lessened somewhat.
- Another possible upside of so many arcs and characters being eliminated is that now the TV series takes on its own persona and I look at the TV series as its own entity different from the books.
- So many changes might mean we will have an endgame that will not follow the books. Maybe it will in the most vague generic sense, but the added arcs and characters int he books will make reading the endgame a unique experience even after watching the TV series finale.
- I now get to watch the show like a person who has not read the books. I will see things for the first time and go in without biases.
*shrug*
I may not be as excited as before, but I am still looking forward to the new season and the rest of the series I guess.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure you have read some of the fan theories for the new Sansa plot with taking on the role of a certain someone's girlfriend from the books along with ST's warnings and comments?! -Even though I'm probably going to be wrong about this, I have a theory that we may still see Lady Stoneheart just that it won't be the same lady as it was in the books.
It's possible I guess... If I understand what your hinting at...
ReplyDeleteI think they will combine those two roles to some degree at least, but I doubt we will see any "Stoneheart" per se... My guess is Sansa will take on something similar to LS's actions of revenge, but not her.. um... physical characteristics. XD
I think the showrunners are cutting back a lot of the more Fantasy elements so that what they do choose to include has more impact. No visions for a few characters so Bran is more special... Less warging early in the series so when it is used in the last few seasons it has more impact. Less examples of R'hllor bringing people back to life so when a certain someone is brought back it has more impact. etc.
I think to some degree we lost Coldhands and Stoneheart to that idea.. Although I was never as big of fan of either character as many people were. Coldhands was cool, but in the end unneeded and Stoneheart was one of the worst mistakes of the books in my opinion even though I know some love her.
It will be so interesting to see how things play out this year and next... and then to see how that compares or contrasts with the upcoming book. My suspicion is that parts cut from the TV series can still play important roles in the books.
I fear they are just making it up as they are going along. Why show Beric Dondarrion's story and establish that lore and then not introduce LS? Well unless someone else will get resurrected(which is entirely possible considering how the last book ended :p)
ReplyDeleteYeah it's a mixed bad of feelings unlike the previous seasons. I can't help but feel my enjoyment of the books will be diminished if I watch the show :(
ReplyDeleteAlso, something about second half of the last season seemed off to me.
Yup :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard a few people ask that and aside from the answer you provided yourself (which I consider the main reason for the BWOB personally) I think including the BwoB could be as simple as Arya needing something to do that season. If for no other reason I think they made her season entertaining!
ReplyDeleteI also wonder if at that point they thought they may do more than 7 seasons. So their inclusion may have made more sense at the time than it does now...
I think a lot of similar questions could be asked about other characters as well though, namely the Blackfish! What are they going to do with him if we do not see Jaime in the Riverrun? It feels like Chekhov's gun theory does not apply to D&D... Maybe they will surprise us?
Dany dont listen to anyone gurl, you will get in trouble!
ReplyDeleteI read some statement from George R.R. Martin that we may see characters die on screen, who have yet to die in the books. So I don't know if that means it will relate to the material that has has yet to be published with characters arcs that are already at the end of ADWD, or that the TV series is going to end with a very different set of characters??
ReplyDeleteI kind of think they may start upping the ante on the magical stuff, especially since they decided to include Maggie The Frog stuff and a flashback? with you know who. Plus one could argue that we exchanged Coldhands for that other White Walker with the baby transforming ability.
I don't know, I guess I just think it would be a whole lot of fun to see Lady Stoneheart appear in another way and kill Ramsey Snow!
I read something to that effect too..
ReplyDeleteAnything is possible I guess, but I've never had an inkling Stoneheart would make the series personally. I thought the character was unneeded in the book and even more so on the series. Plus the specific actress would have to play her for the role to work and I do not see that happening either. Of course I could be wrong on all counts!! XD
I think we got the better deal if we got the Night's King for Coldhands! The overseer of all the White Walkers who connects to the history of the saga is much better than a minion under someone else's control!
A lot of people want to see Stoneheart kill Freys or Ramsey, but I will be as happy when anyone accomplishes that task! I found LSH tragic and anathema to the character. To me LSH was not abiout revenge as much as the complete loss of the character's humanity.
you're probably right anyways, but what I meant was for another character ( but from the same lineage) to become her instead of the book character that does...it would be way more fun and I think ever more plot fulfilling if they would do it, because of all the other characters who may be looking for her previous incarnation as well...
ReplyDeleteOh I got ya now...
ReplyDeleteSometimes hard to get exactly what someone mean's when they try to avoid being too spoilery.
I can see it happening that way on the series more than the original way....
It does not fit with what I think is Sansa's endgame though. My gut is that by the time the series ends she will have gone from the most naive and selfish player to a player with sharp strategy and maybe even altruistic motives. XD
I guess when it comes down to it LSH is the one character I literally hoped would not make the series. I had issues with other characters, but some part of me wanted to see them on screen anyway! Just not so with LSH.
Lol ya sorry, I was trying to do it without be too spoilerish, but I probably should of just said it! XD
ReplyDeleteThat said, there may be some positives as well....

A Feast for Crows," Jaime goes nowhere near Dorne, but instead travels to Harrenhal, and runs into his cousin, Lancel Lannister (you know, the blonde one who's been sleeping with Cersei), on the journey. This sparks an important turn of events that cause Jaime to turn against Cersei and burn her letter asking for his return. Now that Season 5 doesn't appear to be going in that direction, it's unknown how or if the show will even touch on these plot points.
