Daredevil - Steven S. DeKnight Confirms The Classic Suit

Mar 19, 2015

"He always wore a black mask that was tied in the back," DeKnight said. "We went through a lot of different versions and did a lot of R&D before settling on something. If you watch very closely, you'll see the outfit evolve subtly into what we call the black ninja suit. The mask changes. He starts wearing protective pads. Eventually it morphs into the classic suit, because he wouldn't be Daredevil without it. Getting there is part of the fun.

"The idea was to back the story up to the point before Matt is Daredevil. Then we could take him to a place where some version of the red suit works in a grounded world. The solution is very exciting and makes complete sense."

  1. Hope they don't leave it till the last ep. I'm going to watch one ep a week to make it last. Fingers crossed the layout lends itself to that. I watched From Dusk Till Dawn and the entire season felt like one long episode. I guess it's to make the show more "binge-able". Is "House of Cards"and "Orange Black" like that?
I don't want Daredevil setup that way. I want serialized but stand alone episodes like Arrow.

  2. At least some people will finally shut up about Matt's superhero suit unless he's friends with the same fashion designer who gave Steve Rogers his present-day suit which I would totally understand either way.

Getting there to that point have to be done in an organic way or else it wouldn't feel earned for the character.

Supposedly from people who have seen the first few episodes, it's treated like one extra long Marvel movie. Just cut up into bite size chunks.

  4. Orange does episodes with character-centric flashbacks, but the show has tons of subplots so it does feel like one long thing.

  5. Ugh, still watching but ugh...

  6. I kinda want the "transformation" to last longer than a season. Pull an Arrow or Flash where it takes Matt longer to get to the classic suit.
