NBC is tackling a Coach revival.
The Peacock network has ordered a 13-episode sequel to the ’90s sitcom, with Craig T. Nelson reprising his title role, TVLine has learned.
The present-day Coach will pick up 18 years later and find Nelson’s Hayden Fox interrupting his retirement to become assistant coach to his own grown son, who is the new head coach at an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania that is just starting up a new team.
Barry Kemp, who created the original Coach (which aired on ABC from 1989-1997), will write and exec producer the continuation. Nelson will also serve as an EP.
It’s not yet known which Coach alums will be reuniting with Nelson, who is coming off of a six-season run on NBC’s Parenthood. An airdate is also TBD.

2015-16 Reboot season it is
ReplyDeleteWhat's with all the revivals this week? But I loved "Coach" so I'm definitely in!
ReplyDeleteAnd yet still no Deadwood.
ReplyDeleteThe original was probably before my time but this sounds cool
ReplyDeleteThe show ran from 89-97
ReplyDeleteI loved Coach, back when I was in college and WAY before I became cynical to sitcoms. I might av to watch this.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with a post below- All of these reboots and no one is thinking of Deadwood? Justified is ending. There's your cast right there.
Definitely before my time. It ended when I was 1 year
ReplyDeleteThey should make it as if was whole new show with all new characters ... but... the only ones to return should be Hayden Fox & Christine Armstrong-Fox with guest spots from Kelly Fox-Rosebrock and Michael "Dauber" Dybinski.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather it be his grandson then his son though.
Never heard of the show but lol at the fact this happened just after Teen Wolf fans had their #SaveCoach campaign
ReplyDeleteThis actually is a decent idea for a remake. The concept is easy enough that it will transfer to a reboot and there should still be interest in it.
ReplyDeleteOh god. If About a Boy and Marry Me are both canceled because of this I hope The Voice premieres to a 0.8 next season.
ReplyDeletei was 1 yr in 1990 lol.
ReplyDeleteThey're still getting cancelled regardless.
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDeleteWell at least I'll have a new Arrowverse show.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sequel, not a reboot. And good. More shows should do that.
ReplyDeleteA sequel is a form of rebooting an old brand though... so the notion stand IMO.
ReplyDeleteI will admit, I do not remember this show At!All!
ReplyDeleteWow NBC really is desperate. This was a mediocre one note show with a decent cast when it was first shown. If this is the best comedy they can come up with they should just give up.
