Black Sails - XVIII (Season Finale) - Advance Preview
Mar 28, 2015
Black Sails Reviews RFBlack Sails continues this upcoming Saturday for its final episode of its second season. The season finale is mind blowing; its action packed from beginning to end, and sets the show up nicely for Season 3. Nothing will be left unresolved.
The episode starts with Abigail playing the piano, mourning the loss of the woman who mothered her whilst she was on her voyage home. She asks her father what will become of Flint, but his response to that doesn't sit well with her. She is angry, and upset, but is later used by someone who wishes to help another.
News of Eleanor's arrest reaches Nassau, and everyone is either in a state of uncertainty about what might become of the place they call home or are already planning to leave. One character claims without Eleanor at the realm Nassau will crumble, but just how right will that person be? Also, another character uses Eleanor's capture to an advantage of their own when they make a bold offer that could put them in a more powerful position.
Elsewhere, a rescue mission gets underway, but will it succeed or fail? In Vane's absence his remaining crew are having serious doubts about what he has tasked them to do, and one man, in particular, will take action to do what he thinks is best for his own survival. One character from Flint's crew receives news that he wasn't expecting to hear, which might make him reconsider his future with the crew. Another character also opens up to another about what they want for their future, which might just turn out to be a good thing for them both.
The finale is simply unmissable. It's the most action packed episode yet. There will be explosions, there will be a death, there will be new alliances forged and there will be a lot of intense, and thrilling battles that will have you on the edge of your seat. Also, by the end of the episode one person will have lost everything, another will have gained everything and one person will lose something that will prove difficult to be without.
So much more happens (a lot more, I barely mentioned anything), but sadly that's all I can give you as I don't watch to spoil anything. Below though are a few dialogue teasers for you all!
"The man and woman who rescued me, cared for me, delivered me home. Now one of them is dead"
"The only man it seems to me that has committed a crime in all of this, still works for you"
"If you can keep your men from provoking them I'm confident things will stand until I return"
"Tell me this is all happening because of your cowardliness. I can accept that"
"The Pirates of New Providence Island are about to become more powerful than they ever had been before"
As always, thank you for reading! You can catch "XVIII" this Saturday at 9pm on Starz
I think that if the finale is as epic as I hope and think it's going to be, then I'll put this show up there with my favourites ones. Season 2 has been absolutely awesome: story, background, drama, and highly captivating. Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robert ;)
You're welcome! I think you will be satisfied with the finale, it is indeed epic, especially the last 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteFor me Black Sails is already one of my favorite shows now after this season. I wasn't a huge fan of Season 1, but Season 2 has been absolutely outstanding.
Will you be watching the Season finale of Black Sails?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Can't wait for the finale!!

Thank you Robert. For all these advance reviews and the discussions that followed due to these reviews. It has been fun. Hope this continues in S3.
ReplyDeleteNo guesses this week. Although, I did read the advance review and I am beyond excited. If there's one thing that I would dearly love to know before hand, it's Eleanor's fate. She's my favorite and I am anxious about what happens to her.
I always saw S1 as a set up season, given that the show had already been renewed for S2 when S1 was yet to air. The first four episodes were slow but after that it really took off and has continued its ascent in S2. I have seen critics praising S2 a lot and some of them were so intrigued by the deserved hype that they have started watching the show.
ReplyDeleteIn conclusion, I hope that by the time this show ends, it becomes a niche show like Spartacus.
Thanks for commenting and reading all of these previews! There should be previews for Season 3 as well.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, you will be left a little disappointed. Whilst she gets mentioned a lot during the episode by various people we don't actually see her at all.
Nice one. All of them are right! I hope you enjoy the finale as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it can be seen as a setup. Since the writers didn't have to worry about the show not getting a S2 since it got renewed long before the premiere they had a lot of time to plan a story. Season 1 really was all about introducing the core cast, and introducing storylines that now have played a big part in s2.
ReplyDeleteI did find it much better after Episode 4, but this season rightly deserves the praise. It's been fantastic. One of the most best written shows around.
Hmm. Prepare to be stabbed in the back. ;) :)
ReplyDelete*quickly calls Starz executives*-
"See!! See this? Open your eyes and see!!! Robert just spoiled something major about the finale. In the interest of justice, I say, off with his head and stick it on a stick but I will take advance screeners for S3 delivered to me alone as a good compromise"
:P
Back to topic: So Eleanor's story will definitely be a huge part of S3. It also makes me wonder : Will Max be the one to make the power play for control of the island? I think she will indeed do so. She is after all very cunning and ambitious for power.
But what will happen to Eleanor if she loses the island? I hope she embraces the title 'Queen of Thieves', learns some fighting and become a pirate captain of her own ship. That would be freaking awesome.
Haha!
ReplyDeleteI can't say anything about who will try to take control, but I can say that whoever the person will end the season on a high.
I imagine she will get a lot of focus during Season 3, since she was taken by the British at the end of episode 9 I imagine we will get to see London. I would love for her to move away from politics and managing Nassau's trading, and actually venture out into the sea and explore other places.
Having her get her own crew and ship would be a dream come true. She would be awesome.
Thanks Robert! This finale sounds so great, I can't wait to watch it. Season 2 has really been excellent and quite a ride, I've been on the edge on my seat every week. I've read in another advance review (sorry for the betrayal :p) that there will be hard but true words exchanged between Bonny and Rackham, and he's facing a reality that he had partially known but is fully facing now. A little hint? That made me incredibly curious. I'm also a bit anxious about Max and her relationship with Bonny, that was one of the highlight of the season for me (I'm a sucker for these things).
ReplyDeleteStoked for this finale. So much changed in a heartbeat last episode and I think the best is yet to come.
ReplyDeleteabout the person who will try to take control, I have a hunch on who this might be. A woman, maybe? ;)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't possibly say ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, and don't be silly! I too read other peoples reviews/previews :)
ReplyDeleteLet's just say Jack will be shattered by the news, but not entirely disappointed. Anne is putting herself above everyone else for a change.
I can't really reveal anything more as I'm under strict instructions from Starz to keep nearly everything under wraps.
I usually always come here first but I was linked so I'm sort of excused. I've been reading these reviews almost religiously and always appreciated the little hints you give, I'm looking forward them in season 3 too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Jack/Anne/Max tip too! I'm even more pumped up than before now for this episode I might catch it up earlier on starzplay. I wanna think that it's both the fourth and fifth "hints" you mentioned, for selfish reasons :)
Ok so i dont recognize that ship in the picture nor that crew at all. Maybe its run by a man with a very dark beard ;)
ReplyDeleteI would love to share more with you guys, but Starz would have my head.
ReplyDeleteThey actually sent me a spoiler list after episode 1 aired of things I shouldn't include. So I've actually known the main parts (deaths etc) for a long while now, it's a shame as nothing was shocking to me as I already knew.
Ha, I think you might be surprised, but not shocked at what the outcome is. :)
Haha! Are you sure you don't recognize them men, which crew their apart of?
ReplyDeleteYou have no mercy with all of this teasing, sir. But season 3 is coming so even if the curiosity is killing me now let's just leave it at that, we need to keep your head safe from the Starz execs (it must've been hard keeping all those tidbits for a whole season, dang). Thanks for all, it's been fun. And I hope I'm at least partly right about my predictions (I love Jack and Anne, but I love Max and Anne too, the struggle is real).
ReplyDeleteI dont see my comment on the main page anymore..also i wanted tp say that i really enjoy your previews. I have looked forward to them each week..thanks for doing them for us as the wait between episodes is excruciating and the previews help ease the pain lol...
ReplyDeleteOn the main page? If you're talking about the comment section in the sidebar them comments change frequently. You're comment is still on this page.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I appreciate that! I hope Starz release Screeners for S3 when that starts next year so I can continue previewing the show, as I've enjoyed doing them.
*Quickly runs to the nearest cave to hide in from the Starz execs*
ReplyDeleteIt was literally impossible, I had to view it each week to check what I couldn't mention, and I always had the fear that one day I would spoil something huge by accident.
I love Max and Anne and Anne and Jack as well, I don't think I could choice between them pairings.
Ahh ok cool.
